My sound toggling button (the one when you pull down the notifications) no longer works. Whenever I try to press it, it won't go to silent or vibrate mode. It only goes to sound on all the time.

So I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing this or if it was just me..
I've noticed that no matter what my ringer volume is set to, it blares as loud as it can. If it's at one tick above silent it will be super quiet, but any more and it's at max volume.
I also noticed that when the alarm goes off, the side buttons do nothing. Even when the side button behavior option is set up properly in the alarm options.
Anyone else seeing this stuff?

I have not had this issue.
Alarm:
I tested this and the volume buttons don't do anything....but if you use the power button it will snooze the alarm.
As far as the ringer, try turning off the pocket mode.

Please, does anybody know how to turn off media sound when you go in silent mode. Im on class and i turn silent mode on but thats only for ringtones and notification, when i go to apps, sound is on again. Can i somehow turn off media sound also with silent mode?
Best way would probably be to download a 'profiles' app and make profiles that suit your needs.

Thanks, thats a good idea. Was thinking if somebody knows some build.prop tweak that would mute media sound also with silent mode.
Why not just go into settings/sounds/volume and turn them all down. Or when you go into an app or media just volume it down then and it stays down.

During a class it must be off and during a break on. Was thinking if there was some easier way then going to settings every time.
Audio Manager is a great little app for exactly what you're after - there's a free and paid version (paid version supports profiles mentioned earlier in this thread).
The widget is one of the best things about it (see screenshot attached)
Since updating to ICS, a feature I really miss from GB is the turn over to mute funtion for SMS. Sure it works for a phone call ringtone, but that's all. Even trying to turn volume down dooesn't work (by the time i've pressed the volume rocker enough times to change to silent, the tone has finished!)
Anyone got any other ideas on how to mute an SMS notification quickly?

Sorry couldn't help it. But as soon as I press my volume button the sound mutes. Only have to press it once.

Hi,
I have a very annoying problem with my galaxy s 3. When I set it to silent mode, it only silents the ringtone. Everything else still has sounds on. For example mails and whatsapp sounds will not go on silent.
Vibrate works, but full silent mode doesnt work. I first noticed this when I changed my rom to wanamlite. Thought the problem was with the rom itself. But then decided to try vikingway rom. No change and I still have the same problem.
Can anybody help me?

Click the button that pops up when you click the volume buttons you can set all the volumes there.
There is some different sounds
Ringtones, notification, system, alarm, media and voice if I didn't miss something.
Silent mode only disable ringtones and notification, maybe some app is using media volume instead of notification.

Yes but silent mode wont even put my incoming message to silent. Very annoying. Any ideas how to fix this? Silent mode was working with original rom and with the first custom rom I flashed.

Hi,
Coming from past SGS phones, I saw the option to mute phone rings while facing down.
For some reason, I cannot find this option on my SGS5; I also tried just to flip face-down the phone and it did not mute the ring.
Any tips?
