Is your IMEI correct ?
If not you have a corrupt efs folder
See multiple EFS recovery posts.

You can't simply "get" an IMEI. You need a backup to restore it.
Another way would be if the encryption algorithm becomes public, so you could simply restore your old IMEI by rebuilding the appropriate files.
From what I know the algorithm is still unknown and as such you will have to rely on a backup, speak with the guy who sold you the phone.
Btw:
Samsung could restore it, too, they can simply rebuild the files (aka encrypt them properly).
About the backup part, this thread might help:

Recover IMEI on the Galaxy S II and Other Samsung Devices in Nine Steps
credits to xda and vaskodagamma
Sometimes bad things happen and you don’t even know it. Flashing modules can wreck your WiFi, kernels can bork your camera and, and flashing some ROMs can mess with your EFS folder—and thus your IMEI—on Samsung devices including the popular Galaxy S II I9100.
XDA Forum Member vaskodogamagmail has posted about a method that may help users restore their IMEI if the all-important EFS folder is modified by accident. In a nut shell, restoring your backed up IMEI involves deleting the corrupted EFS folder, creating a new one, and doing a few file modifications with a root-enabled file explorer. In the words of the developer:
so I researched. searched all the forums and didn’t find anything that could cure my phone’s IMEI and set it to the original IMEI number. so I experimented and after some hours, I fixed my IMEI.
one thing that led me to the conclusion that ” .nv_data ” file is the thing that I need to fix the IMEI is that they share a very look alike name, and they have the same 2MB size.
While the guide was written with the Galaxy S II in mind, the method should work on all Samsung devices with EFS folders. Those looking to restore their IMEI should visit the original thread for additional information and the full method. Just be sure to back up your device, including the contents of your EFS folder, before getting started.
so head over to the thread

fool huh. this is an info, and just read the comments on that page and its not for someone who has fully lost imei.
Lol. it suggest to backup efs. In order to do so we need to mount the efs partition first. Doing so is the most common cause of lost imei in the first place.

HMM now im disappointed.. ( when i saw the title I hoped somobody finally found out how to do it on ace..

OP haven't read older threads from forums
okie.. Now those who hav lost there IMEI must be on Network locked rite?? As of in INDIA we dont hav these network locked phones much.. Only some providers gave some phones but these branded devices are rarely network locked.. So i checked my phone with Root explorer and also in recovery menu no file such named as EFS(encrypted file system) which mainly holds the IMEI.. May be these nw providers afraid that the person might change the IMEi..

EFS(encrypted file system) is for Microsoft.
Android /efs is different from EFS. And our method of storing imei is different from other Samsung devices. So the OP method Won't work.

EFS is not a folder btw its partition which is never mounted to use with some file explorer things as you can see how much loss you can get just by mounting this thing manually

But no one couldnt find it.. Leave that mounting later!! First we need to find it.. I searched in Mounts and storage its not thr....
BTW EFS thing i found here...
So say it honestly.. do you guys think theres ever going to be a method to do this on ace..?
Ok Guys. This is the story, i was playing with kTool, then i hit "Format EFS"
The phone restarted itself and then failed to boot...
After a long 4 hours of research, i discovered that i had a EFS.img on my SDCard
The i said to myself "WOW i'm lucky!"
restored this image to my efs partition, it mounts correctly now but i seems to have the "Fake IMEI 004999010640000" problem.
Anyone have a spare efs.img available to i try it on my phone? Of course... From a bricked or not working anymore phone
My Galaxy SIII is the International I9300
I would love to have a new efs on my phone, i don't have original one =/
Sorry if it's illegal or against rules of the forum or in wrong place ^^
I don't know if this helps.. But...
I have attached an image of how my phone looks like
no, that's illegal
Why would that be illegal?
Sent from my SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
because it would change the IMEI
Then i just lost my phone?
I'm asking a backup of a dead phone... Is that illegal? :S
you just lost your phone, yes.
but you said you had a backup, you might be doing something wrong. just don't ask for others people backups anymore
Take it too service centre, the imei is in the back of the phone, they should be able to reinstate if the phone isn't blocked
Hi, guys sorry for this maybe noob question. I've chged my firmware and all ( PDA, CSC etc) and after did that my IMEI chged to the test 1 for samsung. My phone is a galaxy s 2

I also lost my IMEI no after a flashing a rom, as far as I was aware I had never made a backup of my efs folder, I attempted many different methods to resolve this, then I checked my external SD storage and saw an EFS_BACKUP folder with numerous compressed EFS files, I simply selected one of the early ones copied to my desktop and extracted contents and used them to replace my current efs folder on root of the phone, then reboot and you should have your original IMEI and phone working again, hope this helps goodluck
I sold my s2 to someone.. the next day he told me that he was not able to call or receive calls.. he was getting a msg *sim card not registered*.. I told him to bring the phone to me.. I checked the imei it was replaced with 0044xxx0000 (something like that).. I downloaded es file explorer and checked there were no files in the efs folder of the phone.. so there is no option to recover imei from that.. is there any other way to recover efs folder/ imei no. (No I don't have efs folder backup, if I had, I would have solved this problem already)
please reply asap
thanks
If I remember correctly...
No efs backup of any kind = service centre

thanks for the quick reply. but its an unlocked imported phone with no bill and hence, no warranty. will they still re-write me a new imei no. if i will pay for it.?
I think they can do that. Some people over here restored it this way.At least try to ask them.
is the device rooted?

obviously it is..
Makes no difference if it is rooted or not. Take it to a local mobile repair shop (not Samsung service centre, they charge too much). Many have the equipment to re-write the IMEI to the device fairly cheaply.
Hi all
i have international version GT-I9300
i did lots of search here and on google to fix this issue,
i tried almost every thing in the forum, nothing works for me
i still can't access the network, IMEI appears as 00499......
serial no is ok
can some upload to me his backed original EFS folder,
i will try to and edit IMEI with hex app and replace it with mine and hope to works again
Thanks in advance
Nope, it won't work anyway. Take it to a repair centre, make sure it works on 4.3 before you pay.
