Hey all
Okay, I've switched to the Arc for my day-to-day phone, but i'd like to repurpose my x10 as a camera - Panorama Beta, HDR+, tonnes of other software and i bought photojojo's lenses for cell phones and installed them there as well. So here's my question:
Which custom/stock rom/firmware would YOU suggest for best camera performance?
I will not be putting a sim in the phone, but i do want the wifi to work. GPS tagging is nice too. i'll prbably rip out all the telephony stuff to minimize OS drag.
Any thoughts?
Stock 2.3.3 with custom kernel, get rid of bloatware and install camera 360 for HDR pics.
hope this helps
or 2.1 with the mod of the camera.apk and the above requirements.

Sorry for the noobie question but i'm just confused at why we cannot get the original SE 2.1 camera app. This app had smile detection, face detection, zoom and a full working 720p camcorder. I'm disappointed at not seeing these features on these new roms.
At the moment u can't port over the 2.1 camera to other ROMS cuz i believe the 2.1 camera software on phone is too old for the 2.2+ softwares.
And i believe all camera features except for the face detection, and smile detection wont b there, but the 720p is working on some 2.2 mods and zoom will be working i believe when the devs figure that out.
Vignette is a great camera app with macro and normal viewing and flash and zoom working which is in the app store. So find that there.
Please correct me other xda members if i am wrong on things here especially devs. Hope this helps u.
I would help do the devs work but that is not close to my knowledge. I just know how to put ROMS on phones that the devs make.

Ok im sure that with add ons like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=991276&highlight=camera
people have noticed that cameras quality can be improved on android with the same hardware. But what is the best application / kernel which can use an android's camera to its fullest potential?
Stock rom's quality can almost always (atleast on the HTC phones ive tried) be beaten by custom roms like those from cyanogen or miui. Can i just push those files which improve the quality into my droid? Or is there an app which can do all this automatically?
Hey guys,
after a couple of days with the Z2 I really can't wait for Cyanogenmod to arrive. Although I'm very happy with the hardware, the ROM leaves a lot to desire.
One thing that does seem to be better with the stock ROM is the camera. Between the 4K video recording function and the various other functions that come with the stock camera I was wondering what prevents us from getting the stock camera on a 3rd party ROM? Wouldn't it be possible to extract everything from the stock ROM to another ROM?
If that's not possible, what good alternatives for a 3rd party camera are there? Any recommendations?

I just tried the cinema app they offer and sadly it is limited to 1080p and a max framerate of 30. These are really two features I'd like to keep. Still gonna try the camera app and compare it to the stock app. Will post the photos later tonight.

I don't know any good app for 4K video but Camera FV-5 is pretty good for stills...
Hi, I'm new to XDA-Developers and I'm hoping to find some help with my CUBOT P9.
I've had it for a while, and I've never been able to use the camera, gallery crashes whereas with Snapchat I can get the front camera to work, but not the rear.
I'm really frustrated with this as I hoped the camera to be working as I use the camera for a long of things.
Would Custom-Romming it deal with the issue? I'm new to android but can easily follow instructions.
Thanks!
Hi everyone,
I (ecological reason) bought a Fairphone 4.
It's really not what I expect from a phone so I am looking to update some apps.
The main issue I get is this one on Camera.
Fairphone 4 doesn't allow to record video from the wide angle camera... Yeah... WTF !!!
It seems to be described on the sepcs, but why ??? How a camera can be reduced to not recording video ?
My old LG G6 does it with wide camera.
Whatever, I tried to use other apps as Open Camera, HD Camera and others but I doesn't find a way to switch, even for picture mode, from the main camera to the wide one.
Do you have any idea of which app I may use ?
Thank you
buy that phone yesterday, have the same problem! By any chance, do you find some solution? Also i want to change from defalutOS to calyxos, but again - big issue inside camera.
