Before i get flamed or people say dont create a thread etc, i have read the other threads and done some research so please bear with me. I have many icon packs that are stored in zip files, and would like to replace ALL of my icons at once with them. Now i have looked into some apps like tha plash and better cut but they only allow you to change one at a time and that will take FOREVER. is there an easier way to change all of my icons at once? i use miui, so is there a possible way to convert the icon pack to a mtz? or is there a way to convert it to a adw theme file? any help is appreciated!

So, I'm trying to figure out how to theme Android. Currently, there's some really overdone glossy/gawdy themes out for my device, and I want to bring something back more elegant.
I'm not looking to do anything insane, what I really want to try doing to start with is just changing the notification icons that appear in the status bar, for starters, like the GMail, missed call, messaging, and the signal/wifi/bt stuff (not yet interseted in changing the battery indicator).
What am I looking to edit? My understanding is that I can replace the image files with the same name as what I want to replace with, and then resign the framework apk as well as resigning the zip. Am I totally off?
dont know any stuff yet which allows u to change ur notification bar view or somethin... but i've tried a good interactive live wallpaper available in market place which make ur notifixation bubbles n show on ur homescreen.... u shud try if the case is for making somethin interestin in ur device......

Don't resign anything in the system folder. Well there are some exceptions. Also you will only be able to change the stock apps icons as 3rd party have their own built into the apk
HI guys
I seem to try a lot of roms but would like an easy optioin to go back to my preferred layout. I dont want to use a backup program as I am also learning rom cooking.
OK so what I want to do is take overcome, pack adwlauncher into it AND modify its settings (add icon theme, move front screen icons, add some widgets to the homescreen etc)
I Have been experimenting and not having much luck.
First thing i did was edit the build.prop and modify the density to my liking. Works fine.
I deleted launcher.apk from and added adwlauncher.apk to /system/app.
It boots but no launcher , I assumed it would come up with the default "select program for this action" in first book allowing me to set adwlauncher, but it does not.
So useless to me, no launcher.
How do i do this?
I also assume that there is a better place to put adw so as to allow for updating? Where are market programs stored?
ALSO
How do I change adw's settings to my liking and pre package them?
I assume I can just setup adw how I like, take the config files off my galaxy AND package them into the overcome zip somewhere. Where might they be and where might I need to put them to.
Oh one other thing, adwthemes. These come from market I'm assuming as an apk. If I just add the apk to appropriate place is that enough for adw to see them so that once my config is in place the correct icons will be used.
Thanks very much for any help guys and excuse me if these answers are easy to find, I didnt have much luck with my search terms.
Hopefully one day I will be talented enough to build my own overcome. lol
Oh, for those who dont know, overcome is a rom for our galaxy tabs, forget the references I'm after generic help
I'm not sure, but I believe that putting apps in the /system/app folder makes it more difficult to update them.
I would create a folder called 'data' in your ZIP, with the APK in it. Not sure though, never tested it Perhaps you'll have to modify the update-script too, to make it work, but hey, that's the fun of cooking
I thought so, because that is a protected system folder..
Anyway I half figured this one out. I need to push /data/com.ADWFOLDER with an update script. Re the settings. Unfortunately, I have been told this is impossible..
Can anyone elaborate?
You could possibly try renaming it launcher.apk..
Im curious as to HOW skins do what they do... Is it possible to create a skin or even modify an "htc" skin that will change 'framework' files, not just common 'htc.resources' files.
Ive done some serious googling and searching on the MAKE UP of these skins. Ive edited/modded a few, ive even tried throwing in extra files. ( i know that some sort of control files mut be there for any given item changed, it was just ruling it out) But i wanted to see if for a novice like me that only knows how to manipulate images and replace them, could ADD to a skin, not just rename and recolor it. Simply put ; can we make a SKIN change say status bar icons. We can change the background!
I theme every ROM, MOD, FIX, etc etc i put on my phone. Ive been doing so since D1. Which requires pushing framework-res and others back n forth.
I HATE green... so ive made personal themes (some shared) to remove all green aspects from android. If i could mod a skin to allow for MORE changes it could make my (and others) theme process easier.
ANY Info on this would be appreciated... and passed on .. ASOP roms have figured this out.. HTC finally added some support to Sense.. but welp i want it all.. lol
THANX...
...BUMP...
Really no one... Bueller? Bueller?
Firstly, I am using Mik's rom.. with pngs modified to my liking.. I have also searched around quite extensively for getting my questions answered.. but without any success.
I have been trying to mod the rosie launcher and am running into a few issues.
1. I can mod the icons pretty easily.. no problems there.. I can also remove the text "Phone" from the center icon.. but phone image is a little off center plus it is vertically offset (shifted a little up). I was told I can play around with the png image file and get that fixed.. however.. I am wondering if there is an xml file in particular that defines the x and y co-ordinates of the launcher icons. So yea.. I am verse with adb, decompiling, recompiling etc.
2. I am looking for a way to get the phone on the left and app drawer in the center.. any guidance with regards to this will be of great help to me. I am guessing this is somewhere in the smali files in Rosie.odex. I have decompiled it resulting in a bunch of smali files.. can someone tell me which particular one I am supposed to edit?
3. Wanting to know if there is any way to add a 4th button to the rosie launcher instead of the usual 3.
Again, I am looking for the know-how... NOT just a mod that I can apply via flashing.
I appreciate anyone who can direct me to a tutorial or a guide.
Thanks.
wow.. not a single reply!... I guess I would have gotten at least a few responses if I had posted this in the development section.
Grab one of my Rosie mods on theMikMik. It has the phone on the left and app drawer in the middle. grab one of those and mod it to your liking

Thanks.. but like I said "Again, I am looking for the know-how... NOT just a mod that I can apply via flashing.""
I want to know which xml files require the editing etc. I am surprised there are no Rosie Guides anywhere that explain which xml/smali files are commonly involved the typical mods.
I'm working on creating my own Launcher Icons. How can I place them in an installable pack? As they are now, I have to save the images and then custom replace each one. I'd like to be able to switch back and forth when I feel like changing my theme.
I've been searching the forums and google for some help with this, but I can't seem to find anything that truly answers my question.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated!
On the plus side, the icons are coming out very nicely!

Check this out, not sure if this is what you're looking for though.

Thanks! It's a start! I use ADW so maybe there's a similar process.
i can suggest you a method to make a swappable theme.
Take an unused adwtheme.apk and edit it, changing the /res/drawable-hdpi .png icons you 'd like to use
Re-zip it and resign it (or simply drag an drop in the original apk i guess)
It worked for me. I can apply the icons using the adw option in themes, selecting iconpack only. And simply swap icons by applying another theme iconpack the same way
Hope it can help.
