[Q] App Menue Grid size. - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey lads,
google and forum search couldnt help me. So I have to open a new topic
I would really like to change the app menue to another grid size.
I want to have 2x2.
Usually it's 4x4.
GO Launcher allows me to go bigger in size (5x4 and 5x5), but I want to go in the opposite direction, because I use folders.
Is there a way to achieve that?
Cheers

hm.... try adw launcher it might have this option...

[Q] Arc App Launcher Question

Ok had a question about the Arc Launcher. So i noticed you can add your own items in the dock bar, Which is perfect. But i cant seem to change the app drawer icon? I like the launcher but i also like adw's and also launcher pro, Which all give me every option i could ever ask. Is there a way to modify the original launcher to offer more options, Such as resize widgets.. Or like adws hidden app drawer. ?

[Q] Best way to get smaller icons without using LCD Density?

LCD Density causes too many problems with the Market and downloading apps, so I'm trying to find an alternate way to get a more minimalistic setup.
Go Launcher looks great at first. It has an option where i can directly set how large I want my screen icons to be all the way down to 48px. Perfect. The problem is it doesn't have any options to customize the dock outside of downloading themes. I hate the way the dock looks, I can't even make it smaller, and I don't need themes.
ADW has the opposite problem. I can fully customize the dock the way I want to but there aren't any options to make home screen icons smaller unless you pay for the full version.
All I really want are smaller home screen icons like how Go Launcher offers, but I can't find any app that does only that, or found any launcher that combines ADW's dock customization with Go Launcher's icon customization.
Any ideas?
The only "solution" I've found is to take a screenshot of my phone, open it in IrfanView on my PC, crop and resize the dock icons, then save them to a folder in the phone and use them to replace the dock icons. I used ADW and miss that function in Go Launcher EX.

Doesn't sound like a very convenient solution...
Is Go Launcher open source? If no one's been able to make an app, I could just see how Go Launcher does it and make a solution myself.

[Q] [GO Launcher EX] How Do I Add Empty Slots/Pages To App Drawer?

Hi, as the title, i would like to add empty slots, to spread the apps out a little, rather than having 16 on one page, you could do this using the stock launcher, so why cant i do this on GO Launcher EX , can anyone shed some light?
Thanks
Press your menu button on phone and select Preferences. Select App Drawer Settings. There is an option for Grid Size. Select this and then choose custom grids. It will give you 2 sliders that lets you choose how many rows and columns you want down to 3X3

Yes thats right, i've tried messing around the column/row sliders but that just spaces the applications out on the page, whereas id still like to stick to the 4x4 layout, but have less than a full page (16 apps) so i could different pages for different categories, instead of using fiddly folders, you could do this on the stock TWlauncher, but not on GO Launcher EX it seems.
My bad I misunderstood. Not sure if thats possible or not.

[Q] ADW Launcher ex question

Hi anyone had any problem with adw launcher pro when they went and change the dock icon's image? when i tried to change the image it just made it blank. does anyone know what is the required format for adw to be able to change the icon?
my icon property is
size:108x108
type: png
Does anyone know how to change icon in go launcher? or is it only available in the go launcher ex version?
what do you guys suggest on a great launcher that can customize the icons that doesnt eat up alot of battery and ram but still can give enough room for customizing the feel and look

I think you are already using GO Launcher EX (which is totally free).
If you are referring to the icons in the dock, then to change the icon, just tap and hold then select "replace icon". You can also download GO Launcher themes and apply them to change the icons look and feel.
I think GO Launcher EX is a quite decent and fully customizable, but if you prefer launchers similar to stock ICS, then try Apex launcher (free).
I wouldn't worry at all about ram or performance, as Galaxy S3 is more than capable for such simple tasks.
I just downloaded a theme. Does anyone know where it is stored so that i can add my custom icons?

Resizing a widget more than allowed?

Is there any way to resize a widget more than aklowed? I have a 4x3 widget that can be resized to 4x2, but i want it in 4x1. I don't care if its layout messes up, so, is there any way, trough external apps, mods, or even code hacks to do that?
Thanks people!

Take nova launcher and set your maximum grid size for the home screen and you can resize it to the maximum grid size. (I'm not 100% if it's nova but it could give you the option to create and size widgets over 2 or more home screens)

That's not the answer of what I asked. I just want to resize it to 4x1, I don't want to change my launcher

You asked for an external app that could resize your widget. Nova is an external app and the solution.
Could you provide informations about your installed launcher or rom? That would help to find a solution.

it's htc sense 4.1, so I don't think there's a solution based on the launcher. I was thinking of moding the widget itself, or something like that
I've occasionally had luck somehow squeezing it in, but I still can't really reproduce. I was able to get a 4x2 to a 3x1 by making some room for it in a different part of the same homepage it was already on so I could move it to the other corner, but not quite enough space for it to fit full size. I then moved it there, thinking it would just move the other apps around, but (maybe because one of the things in its way was also a widget), but it didn’t! It shrunk! I haven't yet been able to reproduce with a different 4x2 widget, so either i'm remembering the exact configuration i did wrong, or there's some "hard limit" on the widgets even beyond what it lets you resize to easily. Good luck

Actually, check this solution out! Works for some other widgets, I managed to get my other 4x2 to a 3x2 at least. I'm a noob so I can't post links yet but it looks something like this

The trick posted in OP community worked nicely for me. Writing it here for others.
To resize widget less than permitted (i.e. resizing a 4x2 to a 4x1):
Go to Settings > Display > Display Size > make it small/smaller as required. Then resize your widget. Revert back the display size settings. The widget will remain reduced size.
