I tried the different methods or hard reset, Power + Volume buttons, Power + touch screen, still nothing; I let it charge for several hours still nothing, blank screen. The product IS under warranty but I have received it as a gift and don't have the receipt, plus the person who bought it paid by cash and can not obtain the receipt from the store, what can I do , ? Thanks
Am I correct in guessing that you haven't contacted samsung yet? If not, give it a try.

If I get it correctly, you can't obtain the receipt because you received it as a gift. Ok. What about the person who bought it? He/she must have the receipt. Just ask it.

Seems like your experiencing the "sleep of death" a problem within android 3.0 itself. try holding the power button for at least 15 seconds.

I have bought my device here in Switzerland at Digitec but the first charge is sold out!
You need SonyEricsson LiveWare to run it.
You could download it at the Market.
Installed it already? ;-)

Yes i think so.
I send it back!
I had the same issue today. my fix was
1 place on charge
2 press and hold the power button for 20 seconds
3 enjoy the boot up...
Yes it is in the Manual to hold the Power off for 15 seconds if anything goes wrong. I forgot this when it froze on the bootup screen one afternoon, so I had to let the batttery run out, then charge it, then switch it back on lol.
My one actually has a display death. I turned it off and put it on charge overnight, woke up and turned it on and the screen is all distorted and lines (similar to damaged lcd) and unusable. I have reflashed it etc but no good. Only had for 3 days!
In the 3 days I think it managed to hold a connection for nearly 2 hours...
Meh, Junk. They really failed this one up.

Hi - I'm using a Galaxy S3 right now and it's not powering on at all. Battery is guaranteed not empty as it has been on charge all morning. It's rooted and running SuperNexus - I9300 - BUILD 4.
I can't even get into download mode - tried powering on with volume keys held up and/or down along with home key and power key but no luck
I've called Samsung and they will take it away for warranty repair but my worry is if they know it's rooted - will they refuse to fix it?
I'm clutching at straws but has anyone got any other suggestions I could try?
I imagine you already tried this, but when it happened to me last, I simply took the battery out for a few and put it back in, then it fired up. Has only happened to me once though.

yeh it's been out for a few minutes. Maybe i should try it for a little while longer.
One thing I forgot to mention is that sometimes I would pick up the phone to look at something and the screen would be blank but the soft keys would be lit up. The only way to get the screen back was to keep the power button pressed down for 10 seconds or so so that it switched off and then back on.
This is what happened this time - but only this time it's refusing to come back on

There's a known issue with some devices having problems with this in here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1993044
But if your device was starting to have problems before... maybe it wasn't related to motherboard but something else, maybe even software related... But still, if the device is not powering at ALL you should be good with samsung, as they will just replace the motherboard and thats all (at least some ppl had it repaired even rooted and with CM installed on the thread I linked above.
Good luck and share your adventure with the SAT (if you finally send it there) on the other post
If your in the eu then rooting your phone won't affect the warranty. It's been confirmed a few times in the thread posted above. It sounds to me like another mother board failure.

Technical service
I know these questions never usually get anywhere but my phone is unresponsive. Whether I try to turn it on, plug it in, connect it to the computer, or try a hard reset with buttons, I get nothing.
Last ditch effort here but any ideas?
sorry to hear that
what happen?
try volume down with power on see if that work
I think I've tried every possible button combo to turn it on and nothing.
I woke up this morning to it like this.
I took it to Verizon and they said I could get a replacement but not for 5 days, and I kinda need it for travelling tonight.

I don't either, and actually I bought mine on New Egg and the company they deal with has declared bankruptcy so they said my only resource to get it fixed was through Verizon. So I called them and it fell under the HTC 1 year warranty so they took care of it right away. Sounds like yours is more than likely hardware failure so it should be the same situation. Heck I even sent it in with S-OFF still and it went ok, I did run the RUU to remove root and re-set everything tho. But if yours wont even turn on you have nothing to worry about
Your phone *will* always turn on with using a combo of power and volume up. Its just a matter of actually holding the volume up so that it is recognized.
How long it stays on after that is up in the air.
So this is probably the 3rd thread I've made for this device.
After returning my first Z2, I got this one a few (maybe 4 to 5) days ago and now I'm having issues with it. First time, the screen froze at my lock screen pattern entry; no response whatsoever but the LED light was blinking as I had a notification. I had to hold volume up + power button to soft reset. In the same day (today) I've just had to reset it again for the second time but this time, the power button would not wake the screen! No matter what I clicked, it would not work so I had to press volume up + power again till it vibrated 3 times and reset. I'll be going back to return the phone tomorrow and getting my third Z2! Anyone else having issues or anyone have any ideas as to why it's/what is happening?
Thanks in advance for any responses
EDIT: Are there any built in logs I can have a look at or anything of that sort to determine what went wrong?

Is your phone bone stock at the moment? (locked BL, no root, stock rom, stock kernel)
I had the issue initially - the phone wouldn't wake up a couple of times a day and I'd have to soft reset. But I was rooted with a custom kernel, etc. and learning to use the tools for Sony phones (coming from Samsung phones). But now it's perfectly stable. In my case, I suspect it was a combination of how I was flashing things, etc.
Otherwise, completely stock, i don't recall the phone freezing. Have you done a complete wipe and repair via SUS or PC Companion?

Hey, yeah the phone is pure stock. I've not messed around with the software nor downloaded anything I shouldn't have. I've not done a complete wipe and repair but I'm thinking about factory resetting. Obviously this is not a hardware issue but I don't want to have to keep resetting my phone twice a day because that is stupid. Hopefully it was a one off and I guess I'm not too bothered but I may go in store tomorrow and just see if they will replace it. Silly reason to do so, I know, but I guess I'm within my rights if the phone isn't working properly. What do you think?

I only bought it a few days ago and manufacturer's warranty is 12 months here I think I'll keep it and see if a firmware update helps because it is perfect hardware wise and I won't be happy if they give me a new one and it has gaps etc. Would you happen to know if the new update helps with the camera/overheating issue?

Ah man. In a way I'm glad to see I'm not alone at least! For some reason mine is mostly random but I've kind of noticed it happens after I pull the charger out. Have you tried to go in and exchange it? If it's the camera causing it, it seems easily reproducible.
@shaf46
Hey Shaf, sorry to bother you mate. I just don't understand what is wrong with this phone! My estimated time on with stamina mode is down to 1 day a few hours again. It is a brand new phone I only got it yesterday. Is it the way I am charging it or is it just buggy software? I don't have any apps I don't need and even tap to wake is off. The battery works normally I guess although it is draining a bit fast (5% in 20 minutes while using it) but I don't understand what could be causing this to happen!

It's happened to me once where the phone wouldn't switch on after sleeping, turned on after about 2mins, but only when I received my magnetic charger and started charging with it. Not sure if the magnetic charger is the problem since I only had that problem once and never happened since.
Are you charging it with a magnetic charger?

Did you manage to sort it out? No I'm using the standard charger provided but after charging it last night, the estimation of battery time in stamina mode has come down significantly. The estimation assumes stamina mode is not on but it is turned on in my notification bar. This time yesterday the estimate was at ~5 days.
I powered off my tab, last night, when I charged. Today, tried to start, but it never comes up; just does reboot loop. Tried to push the power and up/down volume methods. Tablet won't even shutdown. It's not been altered, from stock tab and is no longer under warranty.

Curious if you ever found a solution?
I'm current in the same state after trying an install today and so far my only option appears to be to just let the battery run down and see if I can get it sorted out in a couple of days.

My solution was to have sent in for repair. Fortunately, I'd purchased a extended warranty, which covered the cost. Good luck!
