[Q] Galaxy Nexus boot/recovery/system dump - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys, sorry if this has been posted previously.
Didn't we have a bootable ICS port but just needed a GPU driver? Sureley we could find said driver in the Galaxy Nexus dump over at Modaco? Either that or could this be a new base for a port?

Even better, rip out a GeForce driver from your laptop and use that!

Just did some more reading and found out that the SGS2 and Galaxy Nexus don't have the same GPU, I was not aware of that. No need to be a wanker about it though buddy

Yea, there was a rom coming along quite nicely, but it was just too difficult in the end. Guess it's not that long to wait for proper sources though. You could try out the ICS theme though, looks pretty good.

Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks

Despite the utter pointlessness of this thread, I felt the need to reply to find out why you need ICS.
I'm only waiting for Cyanogenmod team to port it over on CM9!
Lame question

And if so, could that someone provide a link to the apk of it. I can't download from the market, don't own a galaxy nexus.

rom for good media use

i looked at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1598713 however this technique can only be used for roms of the same version and you have to port from a device with the same arm prossecor (correct me if im wrong but the galaxy player uses an armv7?) so i wanted to try and port a rom to our devices is there a good media one considering its a media player? or ones without the phone bit?

Okay, I've got a question

I was wondering will anything on the 4.0 work on the 4.2? they are both android 2.3, both yp-gs1 (I think)
and it's basically the same thing minus a few hardware differences that I can see. Maybe I'm wrong, I've been wrong before.

nope. they are different devices and you will brick your device if you try to flash a 4.0 rom or kernel.
I see. I suppose that makes sense, I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to mobile devices. My other question, which I asked in the Q and A section only to be ignored for the past two days is this:
is it at all possible to upgrade the 4.2 galaxy player to ICS or Jellybean?
I know this should be in a q and a thread and so on but really, I'm looking for an answer, not to be ignored for two days only to get a short answer that doesn't give me...well...an actual answer. I know how these sites work and usually that is what happens unless you make a new thread.

Well first you need a dev to get ICS/JB for the device. Currently I'm working on CM7 which is still GB but it's a start... And I'm not really an experienced dev it's just that there's really no one else to try it.
