The wifi tethering app that appears when you root won't tehter for some reason... Everytime I start it, it says tethering with errors see log.. And that log saying wifi interface failed.... What's the problem????

Gotta find the right version and set it up to ur phone. I just use the sprint hotspot hack in most roms. It doesnt support 4g tho.

Download wifi tether 3.1 beta 6,have profile set to htc evo 3d,wifi driver reload,mms clamping and routing fix all checked/on and you should be good to go

i have finally figured out how to get wifi tether to work with sense 4.0 for eve 3d! i just wanted to share!
1. Download wifi tether v3 1-beta 11 app ( the wifi tether app comes with some roms)
2. open the app and go to settings
3. go to Device-profile and select Google NexusOne
4. stay in settings and go to Routing fix and enable it!
5. set up your SSID and Passphrase and you should be good to go!!!
This might work for sense 3.6 as well. let me know!

I couldnt get any of the tether apps to work. then i found foxfi. worked perfectly

I noticed ViperROM 2.5 RC2 had WiFiTether built-in. Haven't tried it yet but I'm sure it works just fine =P If not, thanks for when ICS ROM's gives me another headache.
Hi is there an ICS ROM that as WiFi tether working or sprint hot spot, i only tried mean ROM , the first release of the VM ROM and newt ROM and on none of the WiFi tether works, so if any 1 knows how to get hot spot or WiFi tether working via root explorer or any ROM with working tethering please let me know

I had it working with CleanRom, the cleanrom thread has the info.
The newest versions of meanrom and SOS M Senseless both include a wifi tether app that works if you change the settings. Change profile to generic ics and enable both mms clamping and routing fix.

Wifi tether has always worked on MeanROM and SOS ICS versions. You just have to make sure your settings are set correctly. Generic ICS, MMS Clamping, Routing Fix, etc...

Myn's working also. Just swapped out phone have to root and reinstall this weekend. Nice rom
I used 4g to tether with meanrom. Haven't tried it with the last update because I just flashed this morning

I can also confirm it works with my MeanROM ICS Evo 3D, on both 3G and 4G with the above settings. I just had to set them and then reinstall binaries/config files to make it work. Enable the settings in ripbap's post, then hit the menu button and reinstall binaries/config. Worked for me. Btw, thanks ripbap
aight so i never tryed to use wifi teather till today.. wanted to show a buddy.. i cant get it to work for the life of me.. i searched the fourms.. tryed everything and it wont work?? please help.. when i press the screen to start it the wifi icon pops up in my status bar for like 2 sec then it go's away? nada?? it wont start?
go to settings and make sure that your device profile is "Generic ICS"
And make sure mass clamping is on.

Change the device profile to generic ics and enable mms clamping like the 2 posts say above AND right under mms clamping, also click routing fix. You can also can channels so it doesn't interfere with other devices and change security type and password.

I'm also having the same issues with wifi tether and I'm not sure where I would change the device profile. Any help would be appreciated.

"WiFi Tether" is an app. Should be on the market. Works better than HTC hot spot, and you can tether over 4G with it

I just went to device profile which is in the setting of your WiFi tether app. Under device profile set it to nexus CDMA and should give you no problems

1. Any Rom I try I can never get WiFi tether to work (Ex. Cleanrom v.10,Common Sense v1.1,Chubbz Sense 4) it always shows errors in the log.
2. Leedroid's tweaks only work for a few things but I can never seem to get changing the mobile data icon to stick or even change..
I have S=on and HBoot 1.5 I don't know if that has any effect on certain things working or not but if someone can help me that would be great!

there is no longer a MSS clamping option? unless it has moved to a hidden location.

Problem 1: You have to use a 3rd party WiFi tether app, set the profile to Generic ICS, mns clamping and routing fix, and then you're good to go.
Problem 2: It isn't a change for mobile data icons, its a change for HIGH SPEED data (4G, HSPA+, 4G LTE, etc etc etc) as for the rest of tweaks, what isn't working? Are you sure you granted tweaks Su permissions?

Hi, I am currently running mwakious3drom v.16.3 and I've noticed that when I turn wireless tethering on , I get "no mobile network" right beneath the checkbox , and when I connect with my laptop or any other phone , the co nectuin works fine by there's no internet access.
Anyone seen that occur?

Its a known ICS bug. Native tether kills 3g use WiFi tether app from Google play
