Hi Guys,
found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2141817 adb guide, but unfortunately the guy is not familiar with xperia ray, so I need to ask the question here.
Is there a way to connect via adb to phone in bricked state, in order to do a logcat for troubleshooting?
1.My BL is unlocked,
2.I can flash custom kernel or rom,
3. when I connect the phone to PC, flashtool says USB debugging is off.
4. when I run adb devices, doesn't list any devices ,
5. I'm running adb while flashtool is NOT running.
will provide the steps I did so far for a better understanding of the problem:
1. I was on ICS ( Iced Bean 3.4 ) , with BL lockedand phone rooted and wanted to try custom GB illuminative.
2. I flashed the rom with cwm, and everything was fine, but Ant+ wasn't working, and dev of the rom was helping me to get ant+ working on the device, so he added things to rom required for ant. I did flash the rom several times, without issues, but the last was unlucky .
3. Interestingly the cwm was gone after each rom flash, not sure why, so I had to take the rooting process over and flashed GB .42, rooted with flashtool, installed x-parts, then cwm from x-parts, and then flash custom rom from cwm.
4. and after a cwm flash of the custom rom, the phone ended hanging at sony ericsson logo.
5. I then tried different kind of stock firmwares ( ICS, GB ) to flash with flashtool and SEUS as well, without any luck.
6. afterwards, I unlocked my BL, flashed cusotm kernel with flashtool ( containing cwm ) , then flashed a version of the above mentioned GB illuminative custom rom which was working before, but still the same.
7. somebody then advised to flash again a stock ftf, I did a stock GB .42, but still the same, now, cwm is gone, as stock kernel overwrote the custom one.
8. tried to flash someguyfromhell's unbrick ftf, which is for the FOTA brick whith BL unlocked, as I understood.
9. reflashed stock GB .42 with flashtool, but phone still hangs at sony Ericsson logo.
the current status of the phone if I connect it to PC is :
1. If I do not hold any volume buttons, the phone goes into flash mode ( solid green led ), and after a short while ( 20-30 sec ) led turns off, Sony Ericsson logo shows up, then goes away and battery with power sign is displayed when I short press the power button
2. if I hold vol down, phone behaves the same way as at 1.
3. if I hold vol up, phone goes in fastboot mode ( solid blue led ) and stay solid blue, it is not going into charging mode.

Hi,
Hope someone can help. I've tried to install a custom ROM today and I'm afraid I managed to brick my phone (Xperia P). Here is what i did:
I started out according to the Starters guide:
-Rooted phone
-Installed CWM
-Made a backup
-Unlocked Bootloader
-Installed JB Moonbreaker 3.5: at this point I was actually still following the starters guide, as in: wiping cache, wiping data, wiping dalvik cache and then installing from zip.
-The phone is currently stuck on the loading screen that comes after "Sony" and "Xperia" (the colorful swirling thingie)
-I can only shut it down by pressing and holding the power and volume up keys until it vibrates 3 times in a row.
-Starting with pressing volume down key repeatedly will not bring up CWM (also gets stuck on the same screen).
-Will also not fastboot anymore properly. (waiting for device for "fastboot.exe -i 0x0fce getvar version"; LED on device will not even light up as blue, goes to green instantly)
-In Device Manager I can see it as "Android" with a yellow exclamation mark.
-Sony PC Companion gives me the "My Sony Xperia P LT22 is connected" popup every 15 seconds but will actually not show the device as connected
I'm wondering if I can flash a stock rom on it to recover it or if there is anything else that can be done.
Thanks in advance

Keep the stock fw ready to be flashed using flashtool, enter into flashmode and flash it !

Can't seem to get it flashed from flashtool. I'm pressing the back button and connecting the USB and I'M just getting the same stuff on the phone, while flashtool is waiting for the phone.
I did manage to enter fastboot again though. Should I be flashing CWM from here (since I can't enter it). Or kernel then rom? I'm a bit lost.

Its volume down key and Plug in USB, to enter flashmode
Not back button.
Or flash a kernel by fastboot mode, enter CWM and install the ROM (assuming you have the zip file in the SD card )

No luck. I get a green LED and nothing happens. If I hold down volume down for really-really long then I'm back to the same boot animation.

yes green LED it is,
i hope you had the flashing process ready at the PC right ?
First make sure your phone is shut down. long press power+vol up until you feel 3 vibrations.
From there you can try fastboot mode or flash mode.

Alright done all that, still is the same. I've started to play with other USB ports and I noticed that when I get connected it tries installing the SEMC Flash device driver. It fails with "device unplugged" message exactly at the same time when when the Sony logo appears. Then it tries installing MTU USB Device as well. Reinstalled flashtool drivers and tried in different ports. It seems as if the phone is not staying in flashmode?

I recall I had that issue with wundows 7 at the beginning, what I did then was to boot my windows xp and managed to flash from there.
I have tried many things since, and if I am not mistaken it's installing flahtool drivers that fixed it finally.
I think there are 3 drivers there you need to install.

you can use emma flash tool by sony to flash your device once u get into flashboot mode(vol down den insert usb cable)
you will find it at sony developer site
did you tried to flash the rom over ICS, if yes then thats why your p got stuck at boot, coz i too got the same prob, when i tried to flash the JB moonbreaker over ICS, so what i did was pressed the power button and volume up button till 3 vibration, start flashtool and flash stock ICS firmware, but don't uncheck wipe data, otherwise you will get bootloop, after flashing is complete, now download and flash stock JB firmware, root your phone using doomlord's easy root kit or any other way you know, install cwm and now reboot into cwm flash JB stock or custom kernel and then the rom, thats it, just let me know if the prob is solved, thanks

Thanks everyone for the input, issue resolved, kernel and rom flash was successful.
Stuck on boot
Guys I have the same problem.
I wasn't satisfied with the rom I put on my phone so I went on to put another one on it.
Flashed the kernel with fastboot, went into cwm, deleted system, cache etc. and went on to flash the rom, but there was no rom zip there, and I was sure I had put it. It was probably an error during the copy procces and it just stopped, I assumed it copied.
Well, now it is just stuck on the boot screen. I can get into fastboot and cwm, but I have nothing to flash.
I tried using the Sony recovery "Emma" but it just stays blank when I connect the phone..
Is there something else I can do?

The rom probably won't work if you delete /system so reflash stock JB first maybe this will help: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170

Hi
I think im facing a very similar issue, i m very new to this and therefore didnt understand the solution. I did visit the developer site for emma, but can you tell me the exact thing to do after starting Emma. I mean, when do i connect the phone and how, what commands to give. Below is explanation of how i got into this and what all ive tried.
OK i ve been trying to flash a new custom rom on my Xperia P, i looked at a number of guidelines and doing things step by step.
Since im very new to this i downloaded a few Roms. I was following the guide "http://droidors.com/2014/07/08/update-xperia-p-lt22i-to-android-4-4-4-kitkat-with-slimkat-custom-rom/2/" and everything was going fine. I reached the step to "fastboot flash boot boot.img", i did that and then went on the next step to boot in CWM Recovery and install the zip rom and the Gapps. During the Zip Rom install i got status 7 error.
Now, i noticed that i might have flashed the wrong Rom so rechecked the guide and installed the correct Rom which is mentioned in "http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/p-development/rom-slimkat-4-4-2-release-candidate-t2657795" . But now THE PROBLEM IS, AFTER I FLASHED THE INCORRECT IMG, MY PC IS NOT RECOGNISING THE XPERIA P SAYING IT DOESNOT RECOGNISE THE DRIVERS, therefore im not able to copy the ROM Zip on the SDcard, to then run it from CWM.
After sometime i tried the below
Ok, now i tried to flash the stock Rom through this link "http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-u/p-development/ftf-firmware-xperia-p-generic-world-t2322163", through flashtool to bring my phone back to life. I installed the drivers as per instructions from drivers folder, but for some reason the pc is just not accepting. I did install through this exact method yesterday night and it worked perfectly.
Please suggest. I hope im asking at the right place.
Urgent help please
I forgot to mention, after I flashed the SlimKat Rom, and things went out of hand ( till this point i could see Slimkat logo at boot and could also go in CWM Recovery ), I tried to restore through Nandroid Backup i had done. As soon i selected the restore option and then the backup file, within 2-3 seconds the phone went off, and then on boot all i can do is see "SONY" on screen. Nothing else happens.
I ve tried all this on a different machine, with different wires and different USB port, no luck
Kindly advise, im stuck with no spare phone.
Solved i guess
OK Brother,
I downloaded EMMA and am currently downloading the service. It is very self explanatory. What was amazing is when i recognised my phone "What a sight "
Flashtools wasnt able to do that, so i guess the manufacture tools are damn important ( i wasnt exactly of the opinion before )
Also it is downloading Android 4.0.4 Build 6.1.1.b.1.54, which first came on the device, which also makes me think may be i should have tried that rather than trying to flash with the JB Rom all this while.
Man, i was scared. Thanks for this thread Bro.
God Bless
Will inform once the phone is booted up to confirm it worked.
Emma Worked
OK guys, I can confirm its EMMA "Flash tool for Xperia" fixed the problem for me. It installed 4.0.4 on it.
Also there is a pdf in the Download which guides about the usage.
Sigh
Correction- it installed the latest stock ROM jb
Hey XDA Dev,
I own a Z3TC (SPG612) for a while now. Maybe rooted with the kingroot (don't remember the exact name), didn't unlocked the bootloader, installed TWRP, flashed (well, the current and broken one) to 23.4.A.3.6 (5.1.1 ?) and all was fine for months.
And today, because I saw a stupid supersu notification, I say OK, let's update supersu binary (done that several times without issue).
Well, it ended in a bootloop where I could still use TWRP.
Because I found a thread which say "flash kernel fixed the issue", and because I also read that "recovery is totally separated from main Android and also for Kernel" and also probably because I forgot the weird Xperia recovery install (on the system ? Something like that ...) .. I decided to flash a kernel from a previous backup (after flash, I will remember to always backup .. so 1 before and 1 after ..) with version 23.1.A.0.690.
Definitely, it was the worst idea of the day. Now, I still have bootloop, but I lost the recovery access (no more vibration during bootloop).
For now, I take a break ... The device don't wont to stop with power button and I had to use power-vol+ to "force reset" which bring the tab down. I can still start it and continue the infinite bootloop if required.
I tested USB connection to my Linux (without anything set for not) and I'm not able to get the green light : vol- + connect = red light, green light then off (about 1s).
If I try with vol+, I'm able to get the blue light (not of the death I hope).
So of course, any help would be appreciated.
I am reading this for now : https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849170
I also read an article (in french) 2 days ago saying supersu had lots of problems and for Xperia, still not fixed. Well, I go through this (and I get caught).
Am I alone ?
What's your advise ?
Thanks
Good news, device is accessible via fastboot
Bad news, the device has normally a locked bootloader ...
Good news, I already backed-up the TA keys (several times with differents updates but I suppose they didn't change).
EDIT: Is that possible to flash only the kernel using fastboot ?
Because I could make it works back to the previous bootloop state, which is still better with TWRP.
EDIT2 : I analysed all my possibilities before going ahead. First, the FlashTool seemed to work in fastboot but not flash mode (because the green led was not staying green, only for 1s and both off). So, I thought only fastbootmode was working.
I tried to flash the fotakernel of the device but failed, probably because the BL was not yet unlock.
So, in order to avoid unlocking the BL, I tried with PC companion. I used the repair function, this also updated to Android 6 (was in 5, rooted, with recovery installed too).
It says to boot in flashmode (well, greenlight). I did and the led was off, as expected. I thought it was not working but at the and, I got a successful repair
started back the device ... it works
So, problem fixed, upgraded to MM, I've just lost the root and the recovery TWRP.
Here are some steps about what's happened :
---
In 2016-03, installed version SGP612_23.4.A.3.6_R3C_Japan Generic_1290-3027_PRFCreator-1.2_SuperSU-2.65_DualRecovery-2.8.26.zip on my z3tc.
On 2017-06-02, an update of supersu break the boot and goes to bootloop.
Trying to fix it by flashing an old kernel from the previous backup (I found easy to try with a backup of TWRP, flash only the kernel .. of a previous backup of a previous firmware version). Since then, lost access to TWRP and device wont power off : have to hard-reset and it sleep then.
Remaining access :
- flashmode (=ADB : green led) : not working, the device wake up after a short time and reboot in a loop, disconnecting the flashmode (saw it through FlashTool) => unstable and unusable
- fastboot (blue led) : working and stable, but could need to unlock the bootloader to permit flash.
Fortunately, there is several backup of the TA and I should be able to re-lock the firmware and restore TA files.
Tried to fix using PC companion (so, avoid to unlock the bootloader ... even if I have TWRP TA backup : better to avoid it ...).
It finishes with OK : now running on 23.5.A1.291-R3D
And this fixed the Z3TC
---
Please note that using the PC Companion for the fix in flashmode (vol down and connect) didn't trigger any restart of the device during the repair process.
At the end, I am surprised that it had worked that way.
But it's OK, the devices seems to works, have to reconfigure it now.
HI,
I inherited this phone. ( D6503 )
Fixed a few hardware problems, now looking at software improvements.
I have unlocked the bootloader , but for the life of me I cannot get a recovery on this phone??
I have previoiusly done flashing on nokia, motorola and Nexus, but I am having no luck with this sony
I am able to connect using ADB, and can get to fastboot, but it stops there.
Issuing '' fastboot boot twrp.img'' ( to try and boot temporarily to twrp ) gives me a blank screen.
issuing ''fastboot flash recovery twrp.img'' does the same.
I cannot get a bootloader screen at all, even using the key combinations.
I cannot boot any recovery at all.
Is there someone here who can put me out of my misery
I am not looking to perform anything fancy, I just want to flash the latest lineage to see how it performs
Many Thanks in advance.
pootler.
Anybody???
I have rooted the z2 by dropping down to 5.11, installed the twrp app, then flashed recommended version of twrpl
Then when I power off the phone, and press the power and volume down buttons, instead of booting into twrp after 7 or so seconds, it just reboots after abour 2-3 seconds???
Can anybody help?-------please
I have even tried rooting , then installing twrp by either 1) fastboot or 2) twrp app.
I then installed NDR utils, to reboot to recovery - it still reboots to main system??
HEEELLPP !
I also tried flashing TWRP with 1) fastboot and 2)the twrp app,
I then installed NDR utils ( i have root ) , and it still wont boot into recovery, just straight into system???
HEELLPP!!
