Hey guys,
A few months ago I rooted my phone and put the Cyanogen Mod rom in it.
Everything was working perfectly..until recently.
My touchscreen is not responding...and the touch pad is also not working.
The phone boots fine but I can't click on anything because the touchscreen is not working.
Anyways, I decided to reflash the rom thinking its a software issue rather than hardware.
But, How do I get back into recovery again?
Usually I would just use Rom Manager to boot to recovery but I can't access this app because I can't navigate to it using my touchscreen or touchpad.
I read that its Vol down plus holding power. I did that but phone continues to just boot normally. Am i doing something wrong.
Please answer.....Thanks...
it is vol down plus power, but you got the order reversed. hold vol down, then press power. once that's done, select recovery.
I tried your method as well (Volume down + Power) but no luck. I think my volume key doesn't work or something.....any suggestions?
I made some progress
Instead of volume down + power (which didn't work) I used back button + power which got me into recovery.
Only problem now is that I need to select recovery. I cant seem to do that because my volume down button doesnt respond when I press it.
Is there any other way to go down in this menu screen....the keyboard is not working at this screen and also it says this message: touch screen - failed
please help
Perhaps android commander can get you to recovery. google android commander and install it on your computer, turn your phone normally and plug it into the computer after its done. Run android commander and select your app, i do recall an option for reboot to recovery.
Yes, thanks for the tip. Android commander is great.
I tried using it to get to recovery. It wouldnt work though. I get the red triangle.
Then I tried flashing a rom using android commander. It worked....the rom installed fine.
Problem now, though, is my touch panel, volume keys, and track pad don't work. They didnt work even before I reflashed this rom.
In Hboot it says touch screen: failed.
Im not sure whats going on.
Is there any way to fix my touch screen. Am i missing something?

This is a hardware issue. So no matter what you flash this is going to continue since its not software related

recently soft bricked my new AT&T S2.I have clockwork recovery installed (4.0.0.2), and the only buttons that work are home (goes back to the first menu), volume up/down, and power to hide the menus. I can't select anything at all, it seems like I have the international version of the recovery, not one for the S2.Anyways, I can't get into download mode by holding down the home + Vol up+ power, and Odin can't seem to connect to my phone if it's in clockwork recovery and not download mode.Would the jig work? Or is having no ability to boot into download mode pretty much a killer? I can access my phone through ADB, I just don't know my way around adb as well as I would like.Is there any way to flash a different recovery via ADB? Any other solutions to get my phone up and running again? Because right now it's not booting at all.
EDIT: Managed to get back into the system. It's running the International ROM instead of mine though, so the buttons are wonky. Does anyone know where I can find the ODIN files to flash back to stock AT&T S2?

First off, that's not how you get into download mode. Turn the phone off, hold both VOLUME BUTTONS ONLY, and plug in the USB cable.
With my phone, If I hold down both volume buttons and power on, it goes to clockwork recovery. If I turn the phone on holding the volume up and the home button, it goes to download (now).
I fixed that issue already though, the problem at hand is that I have the i9100 boot and firmware on here, and need the stock Odin files to fix. Can't find the files though. : /

...me too....
WOW DISREGARD - too stupid to realize soft buttons work with CWM recovery. They didn't before...very premature post, my apologies
For the bootloop, I selected Advanced in CWM recovery, and then selected "Fix permissions" then I installed update from SD card. Now it works! Back to being a noob and hating my life.
-----------
I seem to have bricked my phone too...I was using ROM manager to install cm9 update (yeah, I NOW know I should not have used ROM manager). I used ODIN to re-flash cwm recovery enabled kernel. I can go to recovery, but it does not let me select any of the menu options. And when I boot the phone, it still sends me into a bootloop.
One time it did say "signature verification failed" but it doesn't say that anymore, it just doesn't move. I've read around about signature verification issues, but I haven't found anything that gets me anywhere.
I know this is pretty noobish, but I really appreciate any help!
I'm just going to get straight to the problem here: my Atrix won't boot because something went wrong with a ROM I was trying to install. I was using the package from here Project kitchen sink, and selected aokp. I have Clockwork Recovery 5.8.1.8, so it boots into recovery.
The problem is that my volume rocker is broken, I *think* because of pds, so I cannot navigate the menu. I have tried using RSDLite and Fastboot, hoping that I could work through the recovery boot menu, but it's useless. And since my volume keys refuse to work, I can't set the phone to boot into RSD mode. I'm stuck in an endless loop of not-able-to-do-jack-****, and I don't think I'll be able to send it in to Moto for a replacement.
I don't know if the failure is due to a hardware issue (my Atrix was shipped to me from my family, since I live in Puerto Rico), the CM7 ROM I had before, or a recent crash (the battery was also giving me problems, and lately crashed the phone several times, not turning on unless I pulled it.)

PDS does not affect volume buttons.
And what happens when you boot? Boot loop is not very specific...
I read a post on here that said it did...
And what happens is that it boots once, stays on the Moto logo, then blacks out, boots again and goes into recovery. Since I have no way to do anything, I press the power button and it goes again.
What I need is either
1) A way to work with RSD through the recovery, or
2) A way to work with ADB through recovery, or
3) Someone to just tell it to me straight: I'm f*cked and I need to send it in to Moto (Which I doubt they would take it.)

I would tell you to flash touch recovery however I don't think you can and how it would help you recover from this situation.
Sent from my MB860 running Jokersax's CM9
The weird thing is that I had flashed touch recovery before I started with kitchen sink, and it fixed the touch problems I was having there, but now the touch doesn't work. I downloaded it from the clockwork website, because I don't want to pay for something that is available for free, and I flashed it in fastboot.
Now I have Clockwork Recovery 1.8, which should be touch, no?

You mean 5.8.1.8? If so then yes. And if touch is not working in touch recovery then it does sorta confirm you need the PDS fix...
We are finally getting somewhere: yes, it is 5.8.1.8, touch doesn't work. I know I need the PDS fix, and I applied it. Twice. I patched in fastboot before I started with kitchen sink, and I thought it had worked, since the Aroma installer was touch-enabled after I patched. But now the recovery menu is not working. I tried pressing the search key, like with the Aroma installer, but I knew it wouldn't have any effect.

Can you point me to the thread where it says volumer rocker is linked to pds because i searched and cant find it.
How are you booting...i mean with what key combination? Im assuming your booting normally(only power button) and end up going into recovery. Try booting with power button and volume down.
Sorry I'm not quoting anybody, first off.
Second, I can't find the link. I spent around an hour searching and found it through duckduckgo, but now I can't remember the search term I used. If I find it, I'll post it.
And yes, I'm booting only with power button, because the volume down key isn't working. That is where the pds problem comes in: I can't use the volume down or up key because the keys don't work.
My friend told me that I could use adb to manually boot it into fastboot mode. That works fine, but I don't know how to flash anything other than the recovery/pds partitions. I know fastboot has a "flashall" command, but I don't know how to use that or if it is even going to help. **Essentially** I can boot into fastboot mode, but I want to know if it is even possible to just flash a rom through that. Messy, of course, but if I can just get even a basic ROM working, I can go on from there.
I think you have 2 options:
1. if you can get to fastboot you can reflash everything using uncle cemka's method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1501532
you basically take an .sbf unpack it and flash each part separately.
2. buy a atrix audio jack/camera flex cable from ebay and install it yourself, be especially careful when installing because the very small flex/ribbon that goes to your volume buttons stress fractures very easily if bent very much when installing, hence your volume buttons stop working.
I'm using cemka's method now. I'm waiting for the stock ROM to download, the one from his post. When I finish the whole process, I'll let you guys know how it worked out.
UPDATE: Thank you to whoever referred me to uncle cemka's method, I was able to use it to flash stock ROM. I have functionality back, can boot, and won't waste around $90 on a paperweight.
However, the first problem is still there: The volume keys still don't work. I still need to fix those before everything is %100 percent, so this issue is still open... Sorry guys
HELP!!! I installed shostock rom that worked well for sometime….however yesterday when I went running, I was listening to audio and at the same time I was using an app called Mapmyrun, The phone then suddenly just died. No matter what I pressed it wouldn’t come on. Eventually it did come back on after I pressed the volume up button along with the power button and the home button together and at the same time putting the battery back in. Since then I can’t make a call without using the speaker and while trying to play audio, the audio sticks. I decided I needed to reinstall rom or even try a new one but discovered the phone will not boot into clock work mod. When I try the phone just goes dead again and I then have to do the whole volume up button along with the power button and the home button together and at the same time putting the battery back in again. How do I get CWM again so I can wipe?
So holding down the power button doesn't pull up the boot to Recovery option?
What version of Shostock are you running?
XWLP7-SHOstock2-v2.2.2
Now I've actually got it to go to cmw by holding volume up and down together while pressing the home button and replacing the battery simultaneously. When Itry to reboot however it just goes dead and I have to do the whole process again. How do I get it to reboot?

What phone do you have?
EDIT: XWLP7? I9100?
You're flashing a I777 rom on a I9100?
Alright, you get closer.
At first you said you lost CwMR, then you described how to get into CwMR a totally wrong way, then you got in CwMR eventually.
I suggest you spend time and read more on those threads created by creepy. He shows you everything from how to get into the Download mode, how to get into the 3e, .......
Also, fundamental thing, do list your device info if you want more useful help.
Back to your stage, you said you got into CwMR successfully, then reboot???
Have you done anything when you got there? reflashing? wiping? ...... or just got there and reboot and did nothing else?
Hello! I don't know where i should post this since the UMI X3 device isn't on this site, so i just post it here...
I installed a custom rom, now it's bootlooping.
If i turn it on it will show the little boot splash screen, then the screen will go black and usually it would show the boot loading screen but it doesn't, it reboots again to the boot splash screen.
I tried searching on google, but none of the forum posts actually helped me.
I try to holds down the power button and the volume up button at the same time, but it will just do the same bootloop thing.
The home button is a touch button, and i actually already tried holding down on that but it didn't work.
I also tried holding power button and volume down, and i tried holding all the buttons down at once (power + volume up and down)... also no succes.
Now it used to work, i got into some chinese bootloader before i installed this rom.
So, basicly it won't get into any recovery. I did install clockworkmod recovery actually and it did work, yet i needed to launch it via mobile uncle tools to get into it. I think im totally ****ed now...
Pleace, is there ANY way to solve this problem?
Problem in a nutshell:
Boot looping splash screen, can't get into recovery mode. (PS: i also tried to connect it via USB but it won't find my phone...)

UPDATE:
I'm now able to get into recovery mode!
However i can't mount usb.

Hi Kyriano,
I have the same problem after installing the cynogenmod, does your phone work now. How did you get in the recovery mode??
posible solution
Hi,
After struggling with this issue all day i found a quite simple solution.
The cause of the bootloop in my case was the simcard. So this is what i did:
1. remove simcard tray
2. Turn the phone off and on
3. If everything is ok the bootloop stopped, if not try to reboot again
4. Download mobileuncle in the playstore
5. Open the app click on; into recovery mode
6. Recovery will open and then hopefully you made a backup.Restore it and voila!
If you did not make a back try to flash the official umi ROM.
I hope this solved your problem to.

hi I hope this is posted correctly... I have a nabi 2 running kitkat that was rooted with kingo root and no twrp, everything stock besides that... I deleted something I shouldn't have and when I restarted the tablet it booted fine until it got to the home screen. as of now I have no lock screen to swipe and no home screen. The home button and back button still show and also make a click noise. so I figure to do a factory reboot and everything would be fine... well I was wrong... it still boots but still no home screen.... at times the background will flash and the time and battery will pop up.
So I downloaded nabilabs thinking that would be able to help me and I believe it will but as I found out when I did a factory reset it turned off usb debugging and will not connect now. so with out screen controls how do I turn usb debugging mode on? is there a line I can send to it to connect? thanks for the help in advanced..
I did search around and found a bunch of great software and roms for it but I really haven't found a similar issue or realized that I found something close to my issue.
Do you have a photo? That would make it easier to know what you’re describing
Your firmware may be corrupted.
I put the link to a new ROM here. If you click click the hyperlink it will be at the top of the screen. Use Fastboot to flash that.
Put Fastboot Protocol on by holding down both the volume buttons and the power button, then when the letters on the top left (held in landscape) of the screen pop up, click the volume - (down) button and then click the volume + (up) button. Your computer will now recognize the device in Fastboot. Then you can flash the ROM.
See if that helps.
