as the title says. I am looking for ways to get my battery to perform like it did before.
I was using villain rom with SPEEDMOD kernel.and I had very good battery life. one night I noticed my battery getting really really hot while charging. then the battery life went down hill. I tried wiping battery stats, removed battery for 5min after full charge, changed to cm based rom(it was even worse). i upgraded my modem to KI4. Now I am in villain rom with SPEEDMOD, (17) kernel and the battery life is still ****.
any suggestions####. yes I could blame Android os bug. its a 2.3.5 rom and I turned off all the sync as well I have absolutely no idea how to solve this issue.

it is with minimal use. theme is not the culprit as I have tested without theme and got a similar results.

update
I did not want to change the ROM but I gave 'HyperDroid-Androidmeda' a try. to my surprise the battery drain was gone. then i installed ics theme 'the battery was still good'. then I set up google account and restored K9 mail via titanium backup. THEN AGAIN the BATTERY started to deain heavily.i uninstalled K9,but the battery drain had not gone, uninstalled titanium backup no LUCK. still investigating......but i know i am close
The batteries used in the SGS2 do not need (and therefor not offer) calibration.
Your problem is something else and there is about a million threads about how find'n'fix the issue.
Out of the blue, I'd blame some app you're running.

I am aware of all the other threads. I've faced battery life problems before as well but it was usually resolved by flashing a different kernel or rom. you may be right about the rouge application.

can anybody help me make sense of what is killing my battery. btw I did ude the audio recording software for an hour and also the circuits app but they are not the culprit. main problem is that the phone does not go to sleep.... and battery drains rapidly.
i for first 50% of charge i was on speed mod kernel ... there was battery drain. and then i flased the rom again, the battery life got worse.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
UPDATE....wifi was preventing my phone from going to sleep(still dont know what the real cause is)..... AFTER several ROMS and a DEAD SD card... my problem seem to be gone...for now at least. i basically flashed official firmware and flashed speedmod for root and clockwork mod. then flashed checkROM with speedmod again. fingers crossed the problem is gone.

I flashed an aosp ROM which was very unstable and so went back to the Sensation ROM I was using prior to the aosp ROM and all has been well since apart from a sudden drop in battery roughly 3 hours after flashing. I've attached a screen cap. of the battery usage screen shortly after it occurred, should it help anyone identify the problem.

Thanks.
I had the same problem just yesterday, it's due to the fact that when you're flashing your ROMS your battery got miscalibrated. It's a simple thing to fix just follow the instructions from this app on the Play Store (New Market for those of you without the update).

Did you reboot the phone in this 3 hours? Coz I see this big step, which is happening when you reboot in recovery or flash something. You need to charge you phone and calibrate you battery

I rebooted after I'd configure the launcher as it was before I tried the aosp rom, but didn't enter recovery or flash anything.
I'll configure the battery and hope it doesn't happen, just wondering if anyone has an idea what caused it?
The exact thing happened to me. When you flashed your phone at a certain battery percentage (lets say 50%) Your new ROM assumes that 50% is the maximum capacity. Therefore, when you rebooted your phone it simply corrected the misreading. Calibrating your battery from the app I provided in my earlier post will delete the batter stats file in your phone and create a new one. Remember to use it when your battery is at 100%, then take your battery down to 0% and charge it back up to 100. I'm currently doing that process now after my phone jumped from 50% down to 20% after I rebooted yesterday.

It`s happening some times, you are not first and not last. Just calibrate you battery and will be fine. Good luck
Ok so I've downloaded the battery calibration app and currently charging my device however the app is displaying the same battery level as my phone.
Does this render the battery calibration a waste of time or is it to be expected?

i thought a manual battery calibration on a i9100 is a waste of time . They didnt calculate it like HTC does. Somebody explained me that this mobile got another System for that but i just forgot what for...
Mine always does this when flashing and shows the sudden drop in battery. Once you charge it back up it should be fine again I'm sure. It always is for me
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA
Yep. You are 100% correct
Calibration apps do absolutely nothing except make you a few bucks poorer if you pay for them :-|
The best thing you can do is charge to 100%, pull the battery for a minute, and put it back in.
Also Ex Tweaks is capable of resetting the fuel gauge chip in genuine Samsung batteries should you be experiencing fuel alerted wakelocks on CM9 or similar.

Just woke up and my phone is boiling, especially touchscreen and battery. Its not switching on, I left it on charge like I do every night.
Just to let you guts know, never flashed or rooted my s2. Its still on 2.3.4 with kernel 2.6.35
Turn the phone off remove battery and let it go cold .
Then connect to Samsung charger and see what happens .
Problems
One factory reset after backing up data .
Two try a another/new battery
Three return to service .
jje
Try with another battery, I'm pretty sure that that will help

We've had it happen when a app has "hanged" and not closed on Gingerbread. Haven't had it happen yet on ICS *touch wood* .. phone gets hot and huge battery drain quickly.. even while on charge.
Maybe a recent app you have installed has caused the hang?
leaving your battery on charge overnight is NOT the problem
I posted this few days ago, I'm having another problem now, unsure if its linked to this. But occasionally when phone on charge, I'm getting a pop up notification saying 'battery paused, temperature too low or hot'
This happens regardless of the battery or charger. I've taken screen shots of they help. Battery temp is 67 with condition over over heating. How do I solve this

Bump, anyone?
Have you a bumper on the phone or other case protection ?
Depends on which battery I use, if its the official 2000 mah battery then I use a cheap £1 mesh case. If its the standard battery then I don't use any. The extended battery is now charging.
A friend with a phone shop told me to warm the batteries up before putting them on charge and to my surprise its worked, weird since batteries were saying over heating
I'm loosing my mind! Almost every ROM/Kernel i've tried so far is seeing some serious battery drain due to the Android OS service @ 50%+.
Is this normal?!?! I don't use my phone much but I keep having to charge it twice daily. I've also calibrated the battery using the unlimited amount of guides and apps, but no go.
So far i'm trying all the AOKP ROMs and they all do the same thing, even with different kernels, different CPU scaling governor like ondemand, smartassv2 and hydra.
I think i'm going crazy,

Your phone isnt going into deep sleep. You see it on the blue line under the discharging graph.
Are you using live wallpaper?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
I bought batterystats and just not sure how to read it. I've created a dump file from it and attached here.
I'm not using any live wallpapers, and have downloaded very few programs such as doubletwist, chrome beta, battery calibration, dropbox, fasterfix, go launcher, team viewer and titanium backup. But even without those apps I was still seeing battery drain.
Delete all contents on usb storage except for music and videos.Wipe cache and dalvik.Restart phone.Let it settle for a couple of minutes.Should be ok.
I did that and now I wait. I'll report back tomorrow hopefully with good news.
I noticed that with CPU Spy shows that one of the Unused CPU states is Deep Sleep before so I'll check that out after this.

You have got same crazy apps running in the background. If your not hitting deep sleep you have a serious problem. Another thing to clear is media storage .

After running the kernel cleaner script, wiping data/cache/dalvik etc, I installed Wanam's newest ROM JHLP9, and now no more Android OS keeping the phone up from deep sleep.
It seems to me that all of the AOKP ROMs have some serious battery drain issues, or just bad luck.

There was no such problems from the time I installed this ROM(the day it was released). What caused this battery drain? I would have used one of the battery calibrator apps and seen but I have read that those apps only wipe the battery stats, which according to me wont make any difference.
And now this sudden rise in the battery level while charging.

I have got this problem a few times with different ROMs, I couldn't figure out what was the cause, but only after flashing the Stock SE ICS ROM and kernel, this problem gets solved. But it keeps reoccurring sometimes and it's really annoying as I have to re-flash/re-install everything as I can't do with a phone that shows '30% battery' and in a sec '1% battery remaining, I've ****ed up things for you, Mwahahahahaha'..
Right now I'm flashing back stock ICS, but if this does reoccur, I do not want to be reflashing stock again, so I would really appreciate if anyone can pin point the cause of this strange problem and also a solution for it without reflashing stock.
Edit: : I forgot to take a SS of it, but the battery rises on its own too without I charging it sometimes.
Thank you!

Tried that but no good..
As I have said, I don't think wiping the battery stats would do anything much..
Thanks for trying to help though
Might be your battery need a replacement. Once i also had this problem but in your case u stated the problem solve when using stock rom. I wonder if the battery or the custom rom is the real culprit.
I also have this problem. The battery meter suddently arise even not charging and suddently drop from 30 to total blackout in an instant.
Then i check the battery and notice a bump. I notice my battery is swelling. So i bough a brand new ep500 and problem solve.
Hope it helps

I have had the problem of my battery suddenly dropping from 10% to 1% and then dead. Both the time I flashed my phone with Spartan Rom after charging it completely. It solved the problem both the times.
I think it has some calibrating script or something else.

Are others having this? i mean i go through a full battery about twice a day.... I cant figure out what is draining it so bad. i have used WLD, greenify, and bootmanager to try to figure it out..... None of my apps are ever on the battery list, and screen is around 50% usually with android system and android OS always being up the list. I always thought it was my bad signal strength at work but i had two weeks off and my phone NEVER lasted even close to a day.
I have factory reset once but loaded my same apps backup.
I heard someone else mention that the sprint has this weird battery drain that is explainable and was wondering if others see that also.
I am on the search for a 6000+ mah battery i know it will have a replacement back plate but i don't want the whole case thing like the 9000 zero lemon.
Sounds like kernel wakelock
As of the last two days i have also been experiencing much faster battery drain. Have had the phone since launch and never had this problem.
I do not use the device in excess. Very few if any phone calls per day, some texting and gmail, occasional skim of xda, huffpo, phandroid apps and very light Twitter use if bored and not near the computer.
Battery has dipped 5% since writing this post...that's all of 1-2 minutes in use.
Sent from my LGLS990 using XDA Free mobile app
That's not normal for a Sprint LG G3. A couple of questions:
Have you looked at the battery stats page to see what app(s) are using the most battery? I'd suggest taking a screen shot of that page and posting it here.
Have you tried rebooting the phone? If there's an app or process running out of control that will often clear it up.
Are you rooted? If so, install better battery stats so we can get a better look at what's eating the battery.
Finally, you might want to take a look at this thread: http://forums.androidcentral.com/sa...android-system-eating-your-battery-check.html
While it's unlikely you have the same problem I did, the tools and techniques I used to debug it might be useful for you.
Gonna wait for some custom roms to see if the problem just goes away.

Dude the battery app should show you what is causing it. Something has gone rouge!!! I just had my weather app running in the background using GPS for 5 hours, yeah my battery went way down. Freeze some BS apps. I routinely get 30 hrs plus on a single charge. Not the phone itself something you are using is causingi it.
As requested, my craptastic battery info. Brightness was 83.
