Hi guys,
Well... I have installed recently CM7 6.5 and Kernel 18.1. I changed the kernel version (to v18) because of the big battery drain and i can't use Maps and Navigator!
I don't remember if i tried it with Kernel 18.1, but when i open these apps, they keep loading, and loading, and screen's light turns off and nothing... they don't run!
I have tested other apps, and they run normally, the trouble is in these two apps...
=\
Someone have a solution?
Obs.: I have installed street view too and i don't use 3G.
Thanks!
Nobody knows about it?
Please, someone! Help me!

id say flash back 18.1 and see if it works. maybe its a kernel problem.
if that doesnt work, try reflashing gapps

I reflashed maps application and for my surprise, the app run normally, without any problem... maps and navigator.
Well... i closed the app and when i tried it again, a problem appeared. I can see only the last map charged... if i search for any adress, it keeps charging, and charging, and the new map doesn't appear. In the navigator, the app can't find my location...
What curious case! Anybody knows what i can do to fix it?
Thanks!
Obs.: I can reflash maps several times and it works until i closed it, after sometime running the app.

Google Maps requires data connection unless you have prefetched the maps before (latest versions' only feature) -> PEBKAC.

You need a WORKING DATA connection, period. You can prefetch some 10 "maps" (IIRC 10 miles diameter) in latest versions to avoid that.

Having a problem with my phones screen. My screen wont rotate no matter what i do. Auto-Rotate is checked in both the pull down menu and the actual display settings menu. I have tried wiping the rom out and installing it back, installing a differnt rom altogether and still nothing.

My car couldn't start this morning no matter what I tried to do. Can someone fix it?
If I won't provide a basic info of what model/year or even brand of my car, don't you think anyone can help?
Try launcher settings? Try stock browser? MX player? .... and see if it rotates or not.

I am using the stock rom. Latest ICS. It is rooted. Phone model: i777 I have tried using the browser to test it. I have 4 different browsers (Firefox, Dolphin Beta, Dolphin Mini, and Stock) It will only rotate if i go into the browsers setting and manually make it rotate to landscape. When i open MY FILES app it wont rotate. NO app will rotate unless that is the only way the app works such as a game.
That I can't help. I hope someone with stock ROM will help you out.

Well I guess I should have said that I also tried other roms as well. I also tried it on the SUPER NEXUS rom. Doesn't make a difference what rom I use it still doesn't work. Guess I'm gonna have to send it to Samsung for repair.
Have you tried the built-in test for the sensors? I believe its in the *#0*# menu and from there you can see if the sensor is registering movement.

Yes I have tried that menu. It is showing that the phone is moving. But the picture of the dog does not turn when I rotate the phone. Only thing that changes are the numerical values.

I just tried that app. I looked at the help section for the accelerometer and if I am understanding it correctly then the screen should be working just fine. Except it is not.
re-flash the ROM
I also suggest you try a different Rom. Try captivating m3. Decide and let me know

I've tried searching everywhere...
Is there a way to turn on the screen for a few seconds after receiving an SMS/MMS, etc.?
You'll have to use a third party app. Try "Glowfly" from the Play Store.

Hi everyone,
Since I updated to the new Google Maps 7.0.2 I have noticed that my device's rendering of the maps is nowhere as sleek as advertised or indeed as good as it looks on other devices. I have yet to see the new Maps on a SGS3 so I don't know if this is a device specific issue or it is just my phone and some faulty configurations.
My problem (as you can see in the images attached) is that roads don't seem to render correctly. The map view shows them with rather thick borders and everything seems very chunky.
Has anyone else had the same issue? Could you please check this in your own Maps and see if there is a problem? The screen shots are from the latest update and one is at the initial zoom level and the other at maximum.
Thanks!

Done a couple for you to compare, personally I don't see a problem with the quality, but that's just me.

To me it sounds like the app is broken. Try uninstalling the update and downloading it again. If not remove the .apk using a root manager and reinstall from the Play store.
I would personally just reinstall the ROM, usually the easiest way if you are experienced.
Try the Google Maps feedback/ forum .
Not a problem i have .

I have restored Maps 6.14.4 a few times with TB and updated again, resorted to use the older version for a while.
Installed the latest Stock Firmware the other day and updated Maps, which didn't make any difference either.
Shall I delete the APK and download Maps from Play store?
Reported to Google, nothing from their forums. Led me to believe there might be something in my device and not others.
I have done a photoshop clip of a small area, yours is the left hand side, if you right click on the image and Save Target as you can zoom in on your PC and see the blurring on yours where mine is clear in comparison.
Best option would be to remove it completely and install direct from Play store.
I tried different screen modes to see if it made any difference to the quality but it didn't.
Since it was new, my TAB S3 rotates to portrait whenever I try to look at FB marketplace. I have tried everything I could find through searches. My wifes S3, bought at same time, stays in landscape mode. We both have screen auto rotate turned on. I even tried turning auto rotate off, it still rotates. Also, when it does this, the pics don,t fit properly on the screen. Help
I had this problem on the original Galaxy Note 10.1. I figured it was just because somehow Facebook was installing an older version. It was a Verizon SCH 925 or so it never got updated passed 4.1.2. I never had the problem on my 2014 edition which was running lollipop stock or Los 14. Have you updated it to Oreo yet? Have you tried stock recovery and formatted the cache partition? Not a factory reset just the cache partition. Tried clearing data and cache for the app itself? I wish I could help you more, but seeing as how it's not doing it on hers but is on yours it's most likely just a corrupt Facebook file that's forgotten how to handle the gyroscope.
Thanks for the reply. I put up with it thinking the update to Oreo would fix it. Just got the update a few days ago, no change in the problem. Have since done a complete uninstall of the FB app and reinstalled with no change.

Why not just install smart rotate from play. It'll solve all your problems.

Thanks, that did fix the rotation issue. Now it cuts off the post on either side
Add: Apparantly I have to host the screenshot to post it, I'll try that in a few.

Compare the miminum resolutions you each have under developer settings, it may at least stop the app from cutting off as apps hew to screen res

Thanks for the advice. The only setting that I could find relating to resolution was Minimum Width. Both were set at 768 dp.

The only thing I found to help was to rotate my tablet to portrait and open marketplace. Then everything displays properly, but ony in portrait.
I had the grey on market place. I uninstallerd facebook and installed facebook lite app instead...Problem solved. Then install smart rotation app to get facebook to rotate.... Happy days...
It's 2023 and still no fix.
