I've seen conflicting specs for this phone and I'm just curious if it actually is a dual core.
Sent from my Eris using XDA App
Yes, it has the Snapdragon S3 MSM8660 which is the same as what's in the Evo 3D. It is dual core and clocked at 1.5GHz in the Rezound. It is paired with the Adreno 220 gpu.
Awesome ... The last spec sheet I looked at showed it to be dual core I just wanted to confirm. That may be my next phone. I have until February to decide and to see if something more spiffy comes out. Thanks Mongoose you do great work.

yA,the HTC Rezound has a 1.5 GHz dual-core Scorpion processor. Unsurprisingly, due to the 1.5Ghz dual-core processor and 1GB RAM, the Rezound is incredibly fast. Its a good choice to be made.
Here is a great review of the phone from Engadget -Rezound
If you like htc and sense on your phone I highly recommend this phone. If you are just going to wait till s-off and put CM7 or something else on it then get the Nexus. This phone is fast and I am averaging 17 hours on the standard battery. I have screen brightness turned down and use just the LTE radio. Using LTE/CDMA sucks the life out of the battery. You could also use just CDMA and get good battery. I use an app called LTE onoff to get just LTE. They phone doesn't have this option in its stock menu.
Just stop by a VZ store and try one out. I played with one agian yesterday, there's a pretty cool thing in Sense 3.5 where if you flick your screen quickly, the home screens spin around really fast.
I didn't wanna have to pay a lot for it on my upgrade so I got a droid incredible 2 free. I didn't even pay an upgrade charge.

I'm not going to pay a lot for this muffler! The Inc2 sounds like a great 3g phone, one of my co-workers got one after receiving several messed up Droid 3s from Verizon. That being said, since my upgrade doesn't come around until the end of March, I'm planning on setting aside any gift money (i.e. birthday) I receive between now and then to hopefully get a phone like the Razr, Nexus Prime, or Rezound that will be a pleasure to use for the length of my next contract. Plus the prices might drop a smidgen by then (because they'll have some new quad-core hotness out by then probably).
I found a Rezound that is being offered for $400. It is was only opened, never used, at least he said. Is that a good deal, should I take it? Either that or get a free Droid X2 and wait until July until I can upgrade? I also found a Rezound and a Razr on Ebay but I've never used it before, worried about buying a new phone, getting it and it not being what it said it would be. All these new phones coming out are killing me, don't know if I can wait.

Droid x2 is a terrible device. If you want slow performance and audio/video that skips like none other get the X2. Quad on phones probably won't be out till 2013, maybe late 2012.
What's with the sudden love for quad-core? What are you people doing on your phones that requires 4 cores?? I work this thing hard and haven't had one single instance of lag at all. Four cores is overkill already. That's like buying a desktop with 16 cores. Ridiculous. Buy the Rezound, and call it a day. Everything Moto makes is crap.

Cause some people think that having the "latest" also means having the "best". Dual core isn't even necessary for the phone (assuming the software was optimized correctly).

Get the Rezound. It's a hell of a phone
Not just quad core but next generation processing. The s4 is only two core but will improve performance and supposedly boost battery life. And who wants to stop at this level? This whole journey is all about evolution and where it will take us.
And the droid x 2 blows.

Hi, check your upgrade date. Verizon has been resetting people's. Also on Newegg if you're the primary on your account a Rezound is 149.99.

Vanilla and Moto in the same sentence just doesn't sound right. I know theres the Google/Moto partnership w/e you want to call it, but I doubt VZW wants anymore AOSP unlocked phones after the gnex. VZW = mad cause can't control/lock down the Nexus like they though they could.
I beg to differ,I love my moto Droid 3. I've already got it nice and tweaked out. But I'm handing it down to my son so I can get the rezound because I want the 4g and better camera. All in all the d3 is a solid phone. Imjust a nerd and want something more. HTC does make great phones. Can't wait for mine to come.
Oh and the core issue, more cores basically means each processor can focus on a task. If optimized greatly, 4 cores should result in better battery usage because its taking less time to process things, one task could be split into each core. Once things all line up of course, it will make a nice difference. Android is know in all tech circles to be subtly laggy(even the nexus), but that's because of Androids programming structure. This will get resolved with the newer core technology coming in the next couple years.

Just wait for your upgrade unless money isn't really an issue at all. July will bring even better phones if you can be that patient. I'm not one to talk though. I went from the Fascinate to the Droid 3 and now the Rezound all in just 1.5 years. Too much of an Android nerd to wait things out. =-)

I think ICS just needs to be ironed out more and apps coded for HW accleration. The UI lag/stutters is a software issue, and has nothing to do with our hardware.
I would get the rezound but try and talk him down to 350. Not sure there is that much of a market for them so 400 might be too much.
Edit, might want to jump on the 400 if you really want this phone. Not many on craigslist here in san antonio and the cheapest I saw was 450.
No joke, I couldn't find one single Rezound on Craigslist here.....I searched back a full month, and there's not one person who's selling the Rezound. There are, however, about a million iPhones for sale.
Yeah everything is iPhones.
I can't beleive that people are trying to sell iPhone 4 for as much as a Rezound or Razr.
for 400 you should definitley pick one up. as long as it's in the condition stated.

I was NOT gonna hang on to my old Cappy for another 5 months when the old girl had barely been chugging along since the fall.
I will believe the hype around quad-core processors when I see it in action. Hard to believe that performance will so outpace dual-core processors by enough for the casual user (me) to notice, and I'm also nearly certain that the first quad-core devices will be battery chompers.

Still curious about its battery & speaker/s (hopefully more impressive than the Note's speaker). Would it have been so hard for Samsung to launch the Note with ICS in February? Does the Nexus have some kind of phone ICS exclusivity until March as some Samsung rep suggested to me at the Note launch..?

The quad core battery efficiency is God-like, actually. All quad cores are going to have an "idle core" like Tegra 3 has to rely on when sleeping/under light load. My experience with transformer prime is that quad cores give sick performance and WONDERFUL battery life. I imagine this is why all of these new superphones announced at MWC today that are using he new Krait S4's (dual core but 28nm process makes it very efficient) and Tegra 3 processors have 1800 maH batteries or less. We'll see but I expect battery life to be sick on these phones, based on my experience with Tegra 3 thus far.

Everyone knows iBGR is not a reliable source..
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
While I have no faith in the reliability of these two sources and as a result don't pay much mind to anything that they and other such sites write, I still find reading the comments section of articles like those very much entertaining.
For example,
Person 1: What will be the marketing price?
Person 2: Most coments sayng its fake :O
Person 1: Even I think so .. It dont even have single button ..
What Apple cant even do
Uh. Galaxy Nexus? Hmmm. Some of those iSheep never cease to amaze me with their ignorance.
Another common topic:
"um. doesn't ceramic shatter ridiculously easily?"
"Won't it shatter if you drop it?"
"Ceramic = Heavy as hell? no?"
Granted, they are stating it in a question form, showing they truly don't know **** about ceramics and their wide array of characteristics. At least there are some other comment posters that know about ceramics and will hopefully quell the blind ignorance. It just amuses me when people spew about a product and bash it about something that they are completely wrong about. People need t do more research.
Lastly, I love when people bash a phone over it's size. That's just blatant bias in the most obvious form.
"I don't see the value in making the screen 4.8" (what happened to normal sized phones?)"
4.8" may not be normal to some, but it is perfectly normal to somebody with large hands such as myself. In fact, using an iPhone is cumbersome to me, so their normal sized phone is in fact "not normal" to me. I hate when people state their own opinions and biases as fact. I will see my note as a big middle finger to all people who care about my phone's size. It's my phone, piss off and worry about your own life. I already have people shocked with the size of my Infuse, and I just laugh saying it's the best phone I've ever used by far, mostly due to the size. However, that is not true for everybody, and I let them know that I like the size of such phones because my hands are huge.
How can you state something like the "phone is too big"? It should be, "this phone is too big for me." See what I did there? removing bias makes your statements so much less controversial and fanboy hate-inducing. Most of these people fail to realize that nobody really gives a flying fack about some other random person's opinion on the internet. Or at least they shoudn't, but sadly (or maybe more entertainingly) people get dragged into arguments on tech blogs all due to the fact that they cannot recognize bias and opinion, and cannot distinguish between those and fact. I can't believe these tech sites get away with so much heavy bias and still continue to rack up the views. Granted, I contributed a view, but an unbiased one at that.
I don't have any problem with people commenting on these sites with their opinions about a device, but they should leave it at that, an opinion, and not try to state it as fact. Overall, I am proud of Android users in the way that they tend to be the more calm, collect, and unbiased commenters compared to a lot of iSheep. Both sides have their radicals, but I think the Apple slaves tip the scales with crazy. Haha. Provides good entertainment to say the least. =]

In all the coverage at MWC of quad core phones with these smallish batteries, I'm still surprised there aren't more inquiries into battery life specs..especially with LTE.

They never did for any phone, not even a 3G off switch for 3G phones. Easier to push you into the data overage and charge you more $$$.
BTW, current Tegra 3 phones are not compatible with LTE radio. So, if and when GS3 comes to AT&T, it may not be Tegra 3. It has already been confirmed that HTC's new One X for AT&T will be Snapdragon S4 dual-core instead of Tegra 3.
However, according to the reports, Tegra 3 compatible LTE radio chip will be available 2 months down the road. So, that could be why GS3 is delayed.
Hope AT&T doesn't do what they did with the HTC One X and turn that quad core into a dual core snap dragon for the LTE radio

It's the other way around. Currently most LTE smartphones use Qualcomm radio chip which supports HSPA+ and LTE. But current chip requires Qualcomm CPU. There is a new chip from Qualcomm out soon that supports CMDA, HSPA+ and LTE and will drop the Qualcomm CPU requirement. That will be the chip used in iPhone5.
So, unless Samsung packs its own LTE radio chip AND AT&T is willing to accept Samsung's LTE radio, it's not going to work.

better camera sensors are great but would be nice to see optics upgraded and talked about more. Megapixles and sensors are important but optics are what makes great pics.
Without a doubt, HTC and tmo have released some pretty amazing devices, Sensation, Amaze, Mytouch 4g slide, etc... Now, the One is coming to tmo, would you upgrade to it?
Here's my opinion, apperently, the model Us carriers will get will be dual-core, because apperently LTE is not compatible with quad core CPUs. I think one of the disadvantages of getting the One is that when LTE comes out, we won't be able to use it. But, tmo's 4g is pretty good already. So, would I upgrade? Yes. Hd screen, ICS with sense 4.0, 8mp cam, to take 1080p vids and pics at the same time, pretty good.
Sent from my HTC Amaze 4G using Xparent Green Tapatalk
Title is misleading because it is, also yes I will upgrade. I'm very big on photo's and the camera wouldn't be the same on the Amaze, the sensors are outstanding! Smart Flash! Sense 4.0 and way more development because the ones are a world phone! It's faster than the amaze and all benchmark test that i have seen and its running stock! Imagine custom roms! Even thought quadrant itsn't everything! Plus its smaller and thinner. Beats audio integration throughout the whole phone! I know dsp manager is their but i hate opening it all the time. So yes when it comes out I am getting the one s hands down! Also! the one S is dual core so theirs no LTE Problem im pretty sure Tmo will make it so we can use our phones otherwise thats bad marketing. Also a better front camera which will help with video conferencing I can't wait.
One X
Its a very nice phone, definitely some nice minor upgrades over the amaze but to me it isn't worth it. I've decided to stick with the amaze and see what the Galaxy S III has to offer. I want a quad core phone with an Hd screen, I won't settle for something with capacitive buttons(with the amaze as an exception) especially now that android 4.0 supports buttons on the touch screen.
It's funny how when people hear that the US version is getting a dual core instead of the quad core people assume it's worse but in fact the Snapdragon S4(Dual Core) is faster than the Tegra 3(Quad Core) and US carriers will be getting a better phone than the UK.

Plus were using phones, a quad core which actually has 5 cores would use more power than the Snapdragon S4. That is why I don't overclock my phones. Unless I can keep the voltage the same. A phone is meant for making calls and to in keep contact with people.
What would you rather have a Core i7 2600 or a FX-8150 which is slower and consumes more power but has 4 more cores?(Which are actually modules but AMD product management sucks and decide to advertise them as eight core processors)

I forgot which Android blog, but I just read about a "reliable" rumor that tmo is gonna get the one x without lte capabilities (ie the international quad-core version, cuz the hspa+ is good enough they say) and it's likely going to be a "G" device - like the G1, G2, etc. which means it'll be vanilla ics.

I've been following the hands-on reports and such from Barcelona. All I can say is,
Take everything with a grain of salt, the reporters in Barcelona are sometimes getting their facts wrong,
Details about what will be sold in the US are still not finalized,
Real world testing and independent benchmarking of the total package have not happened,
The One S (remember, T-Mo isn't getting the big dog One X) has a smaller battery, it could have even worse battery life issues,....
I'm disappointed in the chronic problems I've had with the Amaze ... I might upgrade if T-Mobile gets tired of supporting my Amaze! But ... I've just read that T-Mo might only offer the "painted" model, not the one with the plasma-anodized aluminum.
I understand the use of the S4 processor is because the LTE radio is integrated in the chip (not a separate component as in the Amaze) ... Euro LTE markets will get the S4 as well.
I understand the Tegra3 is a 4+1 chip, with a "low-power chip" for "sleep mode." Dunno if the S4 has anything comparable. Based on what I've read, I'm not sure the Tegra is better than the S4.... Anyway, AT&T's getting the S4 too, and ... I'm not sure if will be a 32GB or 16GB version of the One X.
The lack of removable battery, and lack of Micro-SD slot, are giving a lot of people concern on AndroidCentral and other Android sites. What good is a hot diggity 1080p video recorder if you only have some subset of 16GB (9GB like our Amaze?) to record with, then have to slowly upload to Dropbox? Humbug.
Also, the screen of the One S is no more higher res than the Amaze. Same size. In fact, the One X and S have a similar body to the Amaze, leading me to think the Amaze was the "first draft" of a design concept.
I think while some media sources are drinking the Kool-Aid and proclaiming the One series as the best thing since integrated circuit chips, my own impression is that both S an X comprise some glaring compromises (size for battery, cool unibody case for user-replaceable memory card).
Would I upgrade? Well ... much was made of the dedicated camera buttons on the Amaze, and guess what's noticeably missing from the One models? I used those buttons all day at the Monterey Bay Aquarium earlier this month....

It's kind of hard making a quad core more efficient than a dual core when all 4 cores are going to be running constantly without powering off. If anything the HTC One X will have the same amount of battery as the One S. On HTC's website it has the specs and the Battery on the One S is a 1650 mAh and the One X is 1800. The screen on the One S is a Super AMOLED screen which is a major improvement over any of HTC's old screens.
The One X US version is getting a dual core:

I put cross fire bridges on the first two and the second two...
ChromeJob expressed it better than I could. Keeping in mind that I'm probably older than the majority of the main demographic here and I consider my phone a tool more than a trendsetter, fashion statement, toy, and so forth, I don't see what's so great about the One S compared to the Amaze.
As I said in another subforum, the HTC One S is HTC's vision of an iPhone that runs ICS. Make key components non-user-removable, wow the press with hype, remove physical buttons (camera), dog it with some of the hardware (VGA FFC), and (likely) charge customers out the ass for it.
Also, while I did say that I don't care to have a phone as a fashion statement, aesthetics still matter in the sense that they could be a tiebreaker in deciding between phones that are otherwise close in specs. The styling of the One S is bland to me.

+1 all the One S has over the amaze is s4 processor (which i believe is better than t3) dual channel ram, and maybe a slightly better camera. (im sure its just software though)
I will not be upgrading. I can't express how good of a phone the amaze is. Its very unique looking (front maybe looks like a sensation but the back is very nice) it has an amazing build quality, it out preforms my daily tasks. Phone/SMS/Video/Pictures and a game here and there. The Amaze is still a great phone and i believe it will still be a good phone even when T3 and S4 chips come out. Once we achieve S-OFF i think there will be more developers for the amaze.
I dont know how you guys are upgrading so fast. I recently got my Amaze, and this phone just came out in oCtober of last year? not even 6 months ago. It is still a pretty expensive phone. I would rather stick with amaze love the camera and recording buttons, the 2mp front facing camera, the amazing 8Mp camera, and how reliable it is, no dropped calls or anything
I've preordered the HTC One X from Expansys. I have an Amaze and love it (I'm typing this post on it)....but I'm still excited to get the quad core version of the One X...
Wasn't me!! I didn't do it!
I'm not sure if this has been mentioned already but I read last night that the X one my come to tmobile as the next G series phone and my be stock Ics!!!
Check it out over here at the rumor farm -

Too bad I really needed a new phone in December. Otherwise this was exactly what I was waiting for! O well...
Good thing about owning the amaze is its new enough to where when the new line rolls out, we can sit back for a bit, watch development, and catch it at a better price down the road

I'm happy with the screen on the Amaze, SuperLCD? I've had a SGS2 owner admit that mine has nicer color, clarity, etc.

It's funny how when people hear that the US version is getting a dual core instead of the quad core people assume it's worse but in fact the Snapdragon S4(Dual Core) is faster than the Tegra 3(Quad Core) and US carriers will be getting a better phone than the UK.

The one s has a dual core, the overseas version of the one X has a dualcore. I'm not sure about the S4, i hear its nice but what has me leaning to the quadcore is that i hear it has a small core to help save battery?
I see all the comparisons of the Droid DNA to various other phones...some newer, some older. I am an Android Junkie, and have had 5 phones in the last year. I hope people find my opinions helpful. I have no allegiance to any phone manufacturer. I've owned almost all of them. My $.02
I have owned the OG droid, HTC Droid Inc, HTC ThunderBolt, Moto Droid X2, HTC Rezound, Samsung Galaxy Nexus, (2x)Samsung Galaxy S3, HTC Droid DNA(current Phone).
I will only be talking about current and last gen phones.
I see alot of people coming from the thunderbolt to the DNA. Makes sense since the TBolt came out roughly two years ago, hence the two year upgrade eligibility. The Samsung GS3 (US Snapdragon S4 Dual core model) is in my opinion set a clear revolutionary bar in phone technology. It was beautiful, had phenomenal battery life and performance was head and shoulders above the rest at launch time and is even trades transistors with some just released quad core competition. The Rezound was an absolute abysmal phone. Lets be honest it was a last gen phone (snapdragon S3) that had pathetic battery life, way too much bloat, and a version of sense that felt like a ton of bricks on top of the OS. And lets not forget the Rezound could double as a pocket warmer as well. The only saving grace of the rezound was its beautiful SLCD-2 screen. Colors were rich and accurate. The Galaxy Nexus was an absolute pleasure to own from day one. I hadn't experienced any radio problems that were talked about on the forums. The phone was snappy bright beautiful and felt way faster than the Rezound even though on paper the Rezound was faster (S3 @ 1.5GHZ with powerVR vs TI-Omap @1.2). Battery life was an improvement especially with the LTE radio on. I would still be using my Nexus if it weren't for the S3 buzz. Just hadda have one when the hype bug got to me. Having built in LTE on the SOC was a plus as well. The DroidX2 was a red headed stepchild of a phone. Dual core yes...performance of one...NO. Battery life was a positive...thats about it. My tBolt overclocked to 1.92Ghz felt way snappier. My current Droid DNA is a sight to see. When I heard rumors of a Snapdragon S4 quad core with 2 gigs of ram in a 5" screen that had 1080P resolution... I had to have one. Battery life is definitely on par with the GS3. The screen... ohhhh the screen....I cannot put enough emphasis on how easy on the eyes it is. Colors are accurate, saturation is neutral, and sharpness is mind blowing. (Retina what?) It is svelte and the materials used are very pleasing and confidence inspiring to touch.
The Galaxy S3 is a super phone and with AOSP JB Roms is phenomenally fast. The DNA is Super Fast and either phone is a great addition/replacement to any last gen phone. Thanks to all Developers that sacrifice time, money and family time to make these devices more enjoyable to us all. Happy Holidays everyone!!!

when I first got the DNA in the mail and I pulled it out, I was just like no way, this thing is going back, I'm coming from 4' HTC INC4g, and it just felt huge! I considered going to exchange it for the SG3, but within 20 mins I fell in love with the DNA. I could on for and on about how great this phone is.
I do wish it was like 4.7' instead of the 5', but beggars can't be choosers lol, and if a smaller phone comes out that I like, I will prob sell this one and buy it
personally, coming from an s3, although bigger, i'm used to the size. yeah it was huge at first, but now it's normal lol

It's not that different from the SGS3 and One X; the difference is in the height. Now the N2, that's a difference.
That's a huge wall of text

I also came from the S3 and must say that I actually prefer the size of the DNA over the S3 as far as holding it in the hand goes. The S3 is wider and not as comfortable in the hand as the DNA imo. Both are great phones, but if I had to do it all over again, I would still sell the S3 for the DNA.
