[Q] WiFi disconnects and connects again after few seconds - Galaxy Ace S5830 General

So...
I flashed the WKS9 (XEO csc) yesterday and flashed the CF-root on top of it. First I had problems with obtaining an IP adress. IP fixed from android side worked fine but when I press "forget" on the AP and reentered the wifi password it worked without manual IP settings. Then I noticed that Wi-Fi keeps disconnecting and immediately connecting. Of course, before flashing the CF-root I read the instructions and the changelog - it said that the kernel shouldn't break the wifi. But I thought that in my case it broke.
So I reflsahed the WKS9 (one package and without wiping). CWM and Tweaks disappeared but Superuser has been left untouched and I couldn't uninstall it like it was on /system; Link2SD shown that it is on /data (su was removed). After a short messing around with Android Commander and adb Superuser disappeared too (all by itself).
BUT wifi still breaks connection.
One more interesting thing: /data partition shows completely empty!
Edit: It looks like it's losing the IP because if I set IP to manual the phone stays connected. I'm sure that it is not a problem with router because all other devices connected have their IP all the time. Also on router config page it says nothing in "device name" next to ace's mac address.
To fix the wifi
-should I wipe /data or...
-just flash other modem (KB7 for example which has worked with CM7 perfectly)

The same thing happened to me. It's not the root, it's the rom itself. The only fix I found was changing the rom.
Still waiting for a rom with a Wifi that doesn't suck

Have you tried flashing the services.jar within the CF-Root thread?

HELP! Problem with wireless tethering, please read for explanation!

Hi all, I've got a bit of a problem. After finally managing to root, hack bootloader and install MiniCM7(latest) I installed Barnacle Wifi tether and it was all working fine. Now, I don't remember exactly why now but while using root explorer I cleared the Dalvik cache in /cache and /data. After doing that and going back to the menu every app I had open started throwing up errors which was to be expected as i'd just deleted all the settings or whatever for them. anyway, I tried to reboot my system and it failed to boot so I had to re-install through CWM.
Ever since then i've not been able to get barnacle or any other wifi tether app working properly! What happens is that it installs fine, asks for SU permissions and when I click start it seems to be running fine. When I try and connect on my PC I see Barnacle and am able to connect but as soon as I do it kicks me offline again, the other wifi apps don't even connect or show connected but I get no access!
I've tried a few different custom roms but it's much the same really. So far i've managed to wifi tether through the standard wifi tether in settings but it's not the same and seems a lot slower than usual, plus I want to be able to download on my PC and use Android market at the same time and I can't do that with the standard SE tethering options. I've also tried many different suggestions to get wifi/tethering back through various threads in this forum and others but to no avail so far.
So, I'm wondering if anyone might know what I have to do to get it all up and running again as at the moment i'm tethering through USB and using easy tether as it seems faster and more stable but i'd rather be free of wires and be able to use Barnacle again.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions, they'll be much appreciated.
in to barnacle wifi tether app
go into settings
change Channel to 11
Skip wpa_supplicant (tick it off)
DHCP>Gateway = make sure your default gateaway is the same as your routers gateaway normally its 192.168.1.1
try those settings and see if that works

Disable Wifi before boot? - HW problem

HI,
As it seems my sgs2 have some hardware problems with wifi -> when I try to activate/deactiva it, the state freezes, but phone stil works normal (without wifi offcourse). Now the wifi status is enabled and every time I tried to deactive it, process "android system" freezes. Also when I turn off/reset phone the wifi is still enabled (remember the settings from before somehow) or in the midle state (turing off).
So my question is: where I can set wifi to stay off when you turn phone on (.conf file maybe) So when the phone is turned on, wifi won't be activated.
I don't want to do factory reset yet.
Tnx
I backup with clockworkmod, then do the system reset and restore back only the data and still the same
If I only do the system reset then wifi in disabled. THIS IS OK, but I have to install all apps and do much settings.
So I really appriciate it if someone know hot to disable wifi on boot?
I also try to add some lines in file /system/build.prop to disable wifi, but without success
Looks like you need to do a full reset and a clean flash...
look into chainfires thread in i9100 original Android Dev section, find the firmware for your phone and flash away
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
Tried to flash it with this offical firmware I9100XWLPT (4.0.4):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1544487
But the wifi stil can't be activated! I install program alogcat and that error appear a lot of times: "supplicant not running, cannot connect"
So I'm back to my old stable version 2.3.5.
I only need to figute out how to disable wifi, so the phone will work normal

it's obvious to be a SW problem
just make a full wipe ( wipe cache,data/factory reset, dalvik cache ) and try to install a new rom like sensation .. i've tried it and it's really stable and everything should be working well with u
if this fails .. so take it to service center
or you could use titanium backup, first nav. to apk folder and copy paste wifi apk's, two i think, into a new folder then delete the apps using tb then wipe dalvik cache reboot let it redo app optimisation this will put apps allready installed on then reinstall wifi apk's. failing this as evryone says below.
Still don't know my main question:
Where I can set wifi to stay off when you turn phone on (.conf file maybe) So when the phone is turned on, wifi won't be activated.

This looks like kernel issue.
Try to change your kernel to a custom one.
Personally, I'll recommend Siyah or Speedmod
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Tried different kernels, but I got HW issue!
Found something useful, but this is can be done after boot:
Use Android Terminal Emulator and enter:
svc wifi disable
Finally!! I find the solution:
I have to edit this file: (I use app aSQLiteManager and aShell to edit .db file)
/data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db
Inside database file is a table called secure and the field wifi_on has to be changed from 1 to 0.
After reboot wifi was disabled.
You could do that if you phone has hardware issues with WIFI module. Otherwise Andoid OS is very unstable.
Hi, i have a question. If my database file called secure doesn´t have wifi_on field? .... just i have to add the field or what? thanks

WiFi connection but no internet.

I recently restored my old inactive CMDA Sprint Evo 3D back to stock 2.17.
After booting it up, I connected to WiFi and successfully obtained an IP and connected.
I am restored to fully stock with S-Off with a Locked bootloader.
When I try to open the market or web browser I don't have internet.
The web browser says "Web page not available".
I am connected to the WiFi network on other phones and this computer, so internet is working.
Tried multiple PG86 .zip restores and RUU .exe restores.
Even wiped /Data, /System, /Cache and then restored using the PG86 .zip, so there were no files that might be left behind causing issues.
Can anyone help me fix my WiFi issue?
More info please
Thank you for the reply but that's really all that I have.
It's a Sprint CDMA Evo 3D currently restored to stock using RUU_Shooter_ICS_35_S_Sprint_WWE_2.89.651.2_Radio_1.09.00.0706__NV_NV_SPCS_1.43_release_271101_signed.exe.
During setup, I connect to my WiFi and it connects successfully and shows full WiFi bars in the notification bar. I also tried skipping wifi during setup then connecting normally from the wifi in the settings menu.
When I try to use the internet, nothing will connect. Browser wont load a page and play store wont connect, wont even log into my google account.
Feels like the phone is blocking internet access, like though a firewall or hosts, but it doesn't have any additional apps installed and the hosts file is original stock since my /system partition is locked from the restore.
I just did the HTC official bootloader unlock, thinking the wire trick unlock may have been causing it, but it didn't help.
What other info would be useful?
EDIT: Just flashed CyanogenMod 11 with Android 4.4.4 and WiFi is working. No idea why stock won't work but AOSP does.

WiFi Can't Obtain IP Address on SM-J730F

Hello, After doing root using magisk on my SM-730F I installed adaway, after installing the smartphone it stopped connecting to my home WiFi network giving the message Can't Obtain IP Address, but it connected to other networks without problems. I uninstalled adaway, did a factory reset, cleared the cache using TWPR. The problem is still, the message Can't Obtain IP Address is displayed.
Please help!:crying:
I am a complete layman (I did root for the first time in my life). I would like to ask for an exact explanation of what to do to make the device connect to my home WiFi.

Cannot connect to my home wifi (only) after accidentally blacklisting it

So, the weirdest thing happened to me... I installed an app named WiFi Connection Manager from roamingsoft to play around, and I asked this app to blacklist my home wifi.
I then asked to un-blacklist it, but that failed, and ever since I cannot connect to my home wifi anymore: when I insert password it lists my wifi as "saved" but it won't connect.
Things I tried that did not work:
change wifi name
change wifi password
change wifi channel
reset bits and piece all the way down to factory reset the phone, install a different rom* and go back to original rom
* more on that below
Things I tried that did work:
change rom to lineage OS
change rom from android 9 to 8 (both original android one rom from the phone brand) (but going back to the original rom version 9 fails again, even tho I flashed form a newly downloaded file with nothing to do with the version I did somehow corrupt, and before I even logged in to android, so the phone did not even know it was the same user)
change the security of my wireless from wpa2 to something else (wpa/wpa2 for example)
oddly enough if I change wifi settings to have the same wifi name shared between my 2.4ghz and my 5ghz wifi, my phone will connect to the wifi, and it will connect using the 5ghz (the problematic one).
---
i also have the feeling a corruption to my nfc happened at the same time, but I don't know for sure, in case someone knows of a connection between the two problems let me know, but the nfc never worked on other roms.
When I flash a new image I flash a number of partitions including one named bluetooth, so I can't imagine which partition I am leaving untouched that has the blacklist in it...
Does anyone have an idea how an app -even if it had root privileges- could cause such low level damage, and more importantly how I could fix it?
