Hello! I'm a new Android user but I don't want to share my personal data with google. Is it a way to run android calendar instead of Google calendar on a 2.3.7 CyanogenMod Rom?
I've downloaded several other calendar apps (Jorte, Calendroid, FliqAgenda, GeminiCalendar, BusinessCalendar) but none could help me to store my appointments on a local database that I could retrieve with MyPhoneExplorer.
Any clue?
Nobody can help?
Export data from your google acc, and import to my phone explorer.

Thanks for your reply. But I don't understand how this can solve my problem.
It seems there is no android calendar provider on CM ROMs, only Google one. When entering a new appointment I only have the choice between Exchange and Google. My data are already in the PC and managed by MyPhoneExplorer. I've erased all the data from my Google account I don't want to register to Google to be able to use my phone, I don't have to. I refuse their privacy policy.
On LG genuine ROMS we had android Mail and GMail, android Calendar and Google Calendar we could live without a Google account, the same on derivated ROMs like EleganceSwift 5.0 if I remember.
Hm, sorry for misanderstending.

You can try the calendar app from miui rom.,...looking for a solution myself.my tablet is aosp so the options are limited to Google or exchange whereas my phone I could just sync using outlook

Hi everyone,
I'm using CM9, but I tried different ICS roms and I encounter this problem with all of them.
- I'm trying to add a local phone (non gmail) contact to my phone, but it doesn't let me do that. When I add a new contact, a message box pops up saying, that: "Your new contact will be synchronized with <my gmail account>". How to add a local phone (not a SIM card) number?
- I have a backup of all my local phone numbers from GB made with MyPhoneExplorer, and restoring it works when I'm on ICS. The contacts are shown as local phone contacts (PCSC). However, after restarting the phone and waiting a few minutes, all the local contacts are completely gone. MyPhoneExplorer confirms that there are no contacts in the phone either. What's going on?
I really do not want to sync my contacts with google. Looking forward to hearing some answers!
Cheers!
I use CM9-alpha4 (i9001) and it works for me.
I did completely turn of "accounts and sync" and I also didn't flash gapps.
When I first created a new contact I was notified that it will be local and not synced. No problem there.
I'm using the CM9 9-20120614 version (the newest beta). I have Accounts and Sync on, since I want some stuff synced with my phone (facebook, linkedin, gmail calendar, etc.). And I experience the beforementioned problems...
I fiddled with the options but found nothing that would allow me to store my contacts locally and prevent the existing ones from being deleted
There is an issue in the Bugtracker:
https://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=26834
You could also use some other account that doesn't sync with Google. Funambol[0] would be my choice.
[0] http://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdid=com.funambol.androidsync
Thanks for that link.
However, I'm not sure, how is that cloud solution about to help storing my contacts locally without sharing it with any 3rd party?
You have to assiciate your contacts with some account. The funambol client creates such a "account provider" for you. But I just tried it and it seems like the client always wants you to sync with some server. You could set up your own server but that might not be what you want.
Sorry I can't really help. There is another thread about this:

Alright, thanks a lot for your replies! Sigh, I guess I will just stick with google contacts for now -_-
here's my fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1808037

Thanks! I will test it soon, although I have already moved my contacts to Google's cloud. Also, will this fix prevent me from synching google contacts? If so, it's more of a workaround than fix.
It breaks contact syncing deliberately. If you want to keep that while enabling local storage of contacts you need to edit the contacts.apk . I initially decompiled it and identified the line of code that enables or disables the local option.

Hi
I have recently found that when I do a clean install of a ROM with a full wipe any contacts I created on the Phone are lost. I had thought they were backed up by Google / Samsung but it doesn't seem to be ATM. This also affects my daughters phone.
So does anyone have information / ideas that would help me move / transfer all the contacts that are just on the phone to somewhere like Google or Hotmail etc. where they will be safe. My daughter has hundreds and I recently lost a similar amount. Once I know where its easy to transfer contacts too, then I will create all my new contacts in that place as well.
Thanks in advance for any experience / suggestions.
Cheers

Easiest option, I find, is to use just Google Contacts. You can export your SIM's contacts and import them on your phone into your Google account. After that the phone will sync the contacts automatically to the contact book in your online Google account. You could also e.g. create contacts in your online Google account and they will be synced to your phone and multiple devices. Link to Google Contacts
Thanks - My Contacts are now Synced to Google and Hotmail

Thanks so much. It worked better than I hoped. Once I imported my Contacts into Google - within a couple of minutes the phone showed all the Google contacts linked to / replacing (not clear to me) the ones in the phone. I think they are automatically linked by the phone in that when I deleted some in Google they stayed in the phone, but when I add to Google they appear as Google only in the phone. If I delete linked from the phone then it deletes Google as well..
For anyone finding this later I found this link; http://www.liveside.net/2012/02/26/google-is-now-a-connected-service-to-windows-live/ which explains that if you have a Windows Live Account (Hotmail, com, Live.com, Outlook.com etc) Windows Live will lookup all your Google Contacts too if you set it up. So good!!! This is just new this year. Works well too. Again best driven by the Phone Contacts which if I change or delete updates both..
Hi guys,
I have a rooted T mobile Galaxy S3 running an old rom ( I don't even remember which one).
In an attempt to clean up my phone to speed it up, I may have accidentally deleted some default calendar files (maybe storage files).
As a result, my google calendar no longer is able to connect to my google account. When I launch the app, it just has no where to sign in to my google calendar and simply displays a default calendar.
I have no idea how to fix this.
Please help.
Thanks
Hi guys!
I recently bought the mi pad 4 and so far I'm pretty happy with it. I downloaded the Google play store installer from xiaomi's webpage and so I got the play store up and running.
However the calendar and contacts app by Google don't seem to connect to my Google account. Contacts stays empty (only showing the few contacts that use telegram) and the calendar app shows a placeholder account, look at the attached image.
I would really like to also use those two apps on my tablet and would love if someone could help me.
Thanks in advance¡
Best wishes

i was facing the same problem, here was how i solved it:
Give all permission, or at lease the permission to modify your contact, to Google Account Manager, Google contact sync and the Google contact app.
Allow these app to started by other apps, in the startup settings.
Also I tried to install google contact sync version 9 but it doesn't work, i downgrade to 8 and contact appear in the google sync option.
As for the calendar issue, try login within the calendar app.
Try to install Google Calendar and Phone apps and they will ask for activating the calendar and contact sync. Of course you need to say "yes".
The above method works for me.
didn't get the prompt to grant certain permissions for those apps, but finally I've managed. Alot of permissions had to be granted manually to both contacts and calendar app and google services.
thanks for the help, guys!
work for me

I was able to make Calendar work using this method but I can't fix Contacts using this method. I wonder if I use xiaomi.eu ROM, will it fix contacts and calendar problems?
Hello,
I signed up here because I'm frustrated.
I use the calendar from my Google account. With the Honor 8X (and the Mate 20 Lite) I have the problem that the calendar is not being synchronized.
When I create an appointment on the PC, it doesn't appear on the Honor. The other way round. An automatic update does not take place.
If I synchronize the calendar manually in the settings it works. But that can't be the solution. It is a basic function that simply has to work.
By the way, changed or deleted birthdays are not updated at all, not even manually. Here it only helps to delete the calendar memory.
Also the installation of the Google calendar from the Playstore didn't help.
So I cannot and do not want to use the mobile phone. Does anyone have an idea?
(PS: English is not my native language)
Maybe mine Is a stupid question, but do you have Google Calendar Sync installed on your device?
If yes, as I suppose, have you checked if this process is not protected under battery management?

I dont find an app with this name. But i have installed the "Google Calendar" App, so i think it should have everything it needs?
No, it's not enough: you need a sync process, this one Google Calendar Sync https://www.apkmirror.com/apk/googl...calendar-sync-5-2-3-99827563-release-release/
This sync process enable your whatsoever Calendar app to sync with your google account.
P.S.1: Sorry for my English, too
P.S.2: Are you sure you have all Google Apps installed in your device? I'm asking this because is very strange you don't have Google Calendar Sync yet. Each GApps package will include Google Play, Camera, Keyboard, Gmail and much more. Of course, if you have the Google Play Store, along with obligatory Google Play Services, you’ll have access to the entire catalogue. Without these core apps, there's no way out: you can't have your calendar sync'ed.
I have installed everything and it has now also worked with the synchronization of appointments. But when I change or delete birthdays, they are not updated. No matter what I try. I have to delete the calendar memory first, which I think is very inconvenient. I will therefore return the phone and hope that Huawei will fix this bug at some point.
I've been using Google Calendar since I got the Honor 8X and it works perfectly. If I add an appointment on my PC it appears on the phone within a couple of minutes. I have had no problem keeping everything synced.
And what about birthdays? For example you create a new contact with a birthday. And then u delete the contact... the birthday remains forever in the calendar.
