I want to sell my Streak 5 on ebay, so need to get it back to stock ROM. I followed the wiki instructions and did a factory reset and then installed the stock 360. I had streakdroid 1.9.0 installed previously. The whole process was smooth and the phone appears to be back to stock, but there are two problems,
when the phone starts, it still lists what is going on which is the same as the rooted version, and I also see "activate root access".
when I click setting>about phone>build number, it still lists streakdroid 1.9.0
Everything else looks like stock.
Can I get some help here? Thanks
You say you installed stock 360. How? Read up on fastboot and how to get it set up on your computer. Then download the rom of your choice from here: mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii It'll be one of the pkg files. Rename the file update.pkg and place on the root of your sd card. Download the recovery to match the rom from the same site. Put this on your computer in the same folder as your fastboot files. Put your phone in fastboot mode and connect to your pc. Go into a command prompt to the folder with your fastboot files. Type: fastboot.exe -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
When that is done, type fastboot reboot
As soon as the screen goes blank, hold in both volume buttons. Choose option 2 on the menu that follows. When it finally boots, it'll be stock.
that is exactly what I did
I went to the http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Dell_Streak.
downloaded the recovery.img, and stock 360 file, out the stock rom file on SD card, renamed it update.pkg. then fastboot for recovery and then install with update.pkg on SD card.
I just remembered that I did encounter an issue two days ago when I tried, I think I did not get the right recovery.img for the stock 360, so instead of installing stock 360, I did a factory reset and today, I found the right recovery file and repeated the procedure.
Look for instructions on using streakflash or qdl tool...This will get you back to stock like it came from dell. I can't give you much info on it, since I only used it once. It's not difficult, you just have to read up on it.

Latest Streakdroid ROM
If you want to upgrade to the latest Streakdroid ROM (1.6.0), either from the QDLTool install or from the latest official build, you can follow these steps:
1. Go to the downloads section and grab StreakMod Recovery, the latest 1.6.0 Update and the AMSS for 1.5.1+ (the update and amss are under Roms, StreakMod Recovery is under Recovery)
2. Copy the update-1.6.0.zip file onto the root of your SD card.
3. If you are wanting to change from the default install options, create the install config file and place on the SD card as well.
4. Extract recovery.img from the StreakMod recovery and place it, along with amss.mbn, into the same directory as QDLTool (QDLTool has a copy of fastboot)
5. Shut down your Streak, then hold down the camera button (all the way) as you turn it back on.
6. The screen should turn white; press ‘Fastboot’ in the top right hand of the screen.
7. Plug in the USB cable – the Streak should now display ‘FASTBOOT_MODE’ at the bottom of the screen.
8. Open a command window and use ‘cd’ to change to the same directory as qdltool.
9. Run: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.img
10. Run: fastboot -i 0x413c flash amss amss.mbn
11. Run: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot
12. As the Streak starts to reboot, hold down both volume buttons.
13. The recovery menu should come up; select option 2 (Upgrade)
14. A Dell logo and an exclamation mark should appear; press power or menu to open StreakMod’s main menu
15. Select ‘apply sdcard:update.zip’ then ‘chose zip on sd card’
16. Find the update-1.6.0.zip file, select it and apply the zip.
17. When the update finishes, press back a couple of times then select the option to reboot your Streak.
18. The Streak will restart. It will take about 5 minutes to complete, but you are now on the latest v1.6.0
I think I know how to do the first one. But I am not sure which instruction to follow. Sorry guys. This is my first time doing anything like this. So do I need to use QDL tools or fastboot, if Im upgrading from my current verision. Btw wt option would ppl recommend to install. cheers.
PS can I just upgrade from my current version straight to StreakDroid 1.81 or do I need to get the older verision first?
Follow the one on Streakdroid or follow the instructions on the forum guide to upgrading/downgrading your streak so you would not need to use QDL Tool.

Hi. I feel your pain. I went through a week of reading forums and websites before I figured it all out.
I don't have time to write you a detailed step by step guide right now, but let me give you the gist of upgrading.
1) You need to flash a custom installer to the phone that will let you install a custom rom like 1.81. The one a lot of people use is called streakmod. These custom installers are usually called "recovery.img". This is achieved by booting the phone holding the camera button down. Once you are in fastboot mode, you can run fastboot.exe from your pc with some parameters to install the custom rom installer.
2) Once the custom rom installer is installed, you can flash to a custom rom like 1.81, by holding down power and the volume buttons and navigating the mini gui once it loads.
3) You can go straight to 1.81. Make sure you follow the instructions regarding the install text file. Avoid using the perfmod option in the install.txt file.
4) If the custom rom is not behaving right, then you should re-install the stock rom. This would require you to use fastboot.exe again and reflash back to the stock rom installer. Then reflash streakmod again and then your custom rom.
You can download the fastboot.exe and the recovery.img file that installs streakmod from:
http://streakdroid.com/?page_id=15
Repairtool link will contain fastboot.exe and i think the recovery.img file in there is the one that will install streakmod. If not, then you can grab it from the link that says streakmod recovery beta.
One more thing. Aside from upgrading the rom installer and the actual rom, there is a third component called the baseband. This is the software that controls the actual phone capabilities of the phone. There is a link in there as well to a baseband file, but I'm not sure which versions of stock rom are supposed to upgrade to it. It's called AMSS 1.51+. I will let the experts here chime in on that. I installed it and my device was already at 2.2 from factory. It didn't seem to hurt anything.
But if you do have to install it, you would also use fastboot.exe with parameters. You would only have to do this one time, until they release a newer baseband.
It sounds daunting, but it really is not. Just need to understand the basics of what I outlined, and it will make sense.
This step I'm not sure if you need it or not. I did it because early on I thought I needed to root my device. Install the android drivers on your pc. The easiest way to do this is to install a tethering software called pdanet (free). This should be the very first thing you do.

hello
after read this tutorial it doesn't work.
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Dell_Streak:_Full_Update_Guide
( Rooting the Dell Streak )
I installed custom recovery-v0.3.2.7-DoctorWFix.zip
and fastboot work.
I readed many tutorial but i can't unbrick it, please help me.
Lele
First thing think that post was very old, CM never worked right on Streak 5, so if you get your Streak up and running never load it again. As for fixes, PM DJ_Steve and ask him to either upload his qdl tool or permission for one of XDA members to upload it. I have it, but without his permission will not upload it.
> recovery-v0.3.2.7-DoctorWFix
it's work, but i can't read pkg......
My problem is all tutorial use Pkg e phone can't read it
I would like restore it, it's possible? how?
bye
Lele
you cant install pkgs with streakmod, only a stock recovery can install those
if fastboot is working
use fastboot or recovery flasher, and push the stock recovery to your phone, then you should be able to install the .pkg
or just put streakdroid on your sd card and install it using the recovery you already have installed
That's right , StreakMod or ClockWork cannot flash stock rom . Only Stock Recovery can flash Stock rom a.k.a Update.pkg.
Go to fastboot and then flash stock recovery that you want (depend stock rom you have to flash). Her is the L I N K that you can download stock rom and recovery image.
And for root , use this L I N K.
Maybe ... this can help your problem
Ok, guys tonight I will try thanks for all
Bye lele
Now it work,
Download this zip file which contains a recovery for downgrading here.
Move the recovery.img file to wherever your fastboot.exe is.
Put your Streak into fastboot mode ( camera + power ).
Open up command line type: fastboot -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.stock.new.img
Once it says it's done writing type: fastboot -i 0x413c reboot in command line.
Download Official 1.6 (6267 Build) from http://www.mediafire.com/?nib62786hjj93x4.
Rename the file to Update.pkg and copy it to the root of your SD Card.
Dowload this file and put it on the root of your SD Card.
Download this file and unzip it to your SD Card
Root it's ok but can i know if I really allowed root?
Question:
How can I have stock rom and recovery image both? or must I choose one of them?
bye
Lele
lele, that is good news, remember stay away from cyanogenmod, it is not ready for use on the Streak. If you want custom ROM go with 1.9.0 with either 351 or 353 BaseBand. Or you can wait till 2.0.0 is bit more stable and go with it.
Ok i will try it in this days.
About my question?
(How can I have stock rom and recovery image both? or must I choose them
)
Thanks
Assuming you can fastboot again, very simple use MultiRecoveryFlasher at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000455.
If you have can't get to work, like me one of the very few that it just doesn't work. You can go to TheManii's web page, http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/. Download recovery img for version you want and dowload that version for example go here, http://mirror2.streakdroid.com/manii/354/, download recovery.img. Than go parent page and download Streak_354_15881_11.pkg.
Once you have the pkg, rename Update.pkg and move to root of SD card. Reboot into fastboot mode, flash recovery.img. Once complete reboot while holding volume up and volume down buttons. That will take you to Dell update menu. At that point just push the camera button and let it go, will be in 354 when you start up.
Will be in Chinesse if I remember right, no big deal, just click on box on lower right of the screen and select your language. Or you can go with 351, 353 or what ever version TheManii has on that page that has a recovery img.
Hi everyone
I am having this weird issue with my T-Mobile G2... I am still on clockworkmod recovery 2.5.1.3 I don't know why and it is preventing me from doing everything! In the beginning I didn't notice I was on this version because in Rom Manager it appears to be in 3.0.? but when I reboot in CWM recovery I still have the green letters and the older version... The thing is that I am using right now CM7 and I am having problems with file formats, mounting system, etc. I have tried to S-Off my phone with a tut here with no luck.
About the root method, I don't even remember which one I used to root my phone because I was new when I did it and I just followed tuts around the web. Only thing I remember is that I used the first perma root method available by the time and it wasn't S-Off or carrier unlock.
The point is, I need to update to clockworkmod 3.0 or 5.0 in order to solve all the issues with my phone! I can't even do a nand at the moment because of this. What do you recommend?
Appreciate any help.
Solution in a post below.
If your having trouble getting ROM Manager to flash your recovery, this is how to do it manually through ADB.
1. Download this file here.
2. Rename the file to recovery.img
3. open a command prompt/terminal window and navigate to the location that you saved the file to. c:\path\to\recovery.img
4. type adb reboot bootloader
5. once booted into fast boot, back in the cmd prompt/terminal type fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
when its done reboot and then back in cmd prompt/terminal type fastboot reboot.
after reboot type adb reboot recovery and you should boot into clockwork. Make a nandroid and go find a custom rom.
I followed step by step but still showing version 2.5.1.3 and still having green letters.
Ok got it solved. Here is what I did:
The problem was that I had the wrong hboot installed which left my cellphone with S-ON and furthermore blocked me from doing anything. What you have to do if you have the same issue is to follow first this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1178912 to downgrade to stock rom, and then you have to re root the system following this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_G2
That's it! Good luck
Problem: Was trying to install AOKP 4.0 onto my fully updated TF201.
Wiped data/cache/davlik
installed ROM
installed Google Apps
Device stuck on splash screen.
Figured out the problem was an older version on CWM. I believe it was 5.5.0.4.
Tried to go install latest version of CWM: 5.8.3.4 by using the Fastboot method.
Accidentally selected Wipe Data Option instead of USB.
Lost CWM, all data on internal memory and my entire OS.
Device cannot boot (stays on splash screen). I also try to get back into CWM and it fails. I get bounced back to the Fastboot screen.
What can I do to get this thing back up and running? I will even take stock at this moment just to get the ball rolling again.
Thanks!

OK, I was able to get the stock TF201 drivers onto my Windows 7 PC (since an alternate method had me change them) I am following every step explained in the directions from TeamW.in and am getting this error: "The program can't start because AdbWinAPI.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem"
(UPDATE) I was able to find a ADBWinAPI.dll file and I dropped it into the same folder as the twrp.blob and fastboot.exe files. I am not able to access the cmd line, but it does not start the flash, it only lists a bunch of optional cmds to pick from. None of which look useful.

Did you ever have any luck with this? I had a JB ROM soft brick my 201 about a year ago. I lost TWRP recovery, OS, pretty much everything. It stays on the splash screen and allows me to get to the fastboot option. I can't get my computer(windows 8) to recognize it at all. Just states it can not recognize USB device. I installed the universal naked driver package along with trying the stock ASUS driver package with no luck.
I put the tablet down and purchased a 701 but now would like to fix the 201 and sell it. If you have any advice I would be very thankful
Thanks to everyones help I was able to get 320 updated, then OTA 321 came without issue. Now I am trying to re-root and having no luck. (And please let me know if this is the wrong section, but I see all the rooting questions in this one.)
Followed the steps someone posted in the thread "How does one get root again once upgraded to 5.1?":
• Phone was still unlocked but I went through the steps and clicked ‘ROOT’ in the software tool anyways (and got no errors).
• Downloaded and renamed and moved the TWRP Recovery from the link in those steps (and later tried with twrp-2.8.7.0, to the same end).
• Found my phone listed in the “adb devices” list in command prompt, unplugged, ran ‘fastboot flash recovery TWRP.img’ from that folder, booted into recovery, plugged it back in and it successfully finished on the computer screen (nothing showed up on the phone).
• Rebooted into TWRP (Up and power) right from that recovery screen, and it boots to the EMUI screen asking me to navigate with up and down through “Reboot system now”, “Wipe data/factory reset”, etc.
All drivers are the same as when I rooted my phone on this same computer 2-3 months ago and again 2-3 weeks ago before I upgraded to 5.1, but just to be sure, I rechecked my ADB drivers, fastboot files, and confirmed it sees this as a fastboot device when in recovery… it just wont boot into TWRP so I can put supersu on.
Not sure if I am doing something wrong, if something is different in B321, or if I should try some of the alternate rooting methods (Shuame or whatnot… I’ve never tried them). It's the last step, and I can be happy and get back to where I was.
I have tried flashing that TWRP file a dozen times… and it works every time, but then it boots to the stock EMUI every time. I heard someone once say that the phone could be overwriting it? But I am booting into it, or trying to, right from the recovery screen. Of course I tried rebooting into the phone normally a few times as well, then restarting and going into ‘Up + Power’, every time the same thing.
Appreciate your suggestions.

That looks almost like my issue. However, I don't believe I understand your post entirely.
So you were unable to get TWRP to stick? I am unable to even get there once.
1. I don't understand how to rename that file.
2. Your steps say I have to get into TWRP, then "install SU.zip inside twrp". Since I cannot get into TWRP, I cannot get to step 2, and I cannot get to step 3, renaming the file.
Beggars can't be choosers, but could you dumb it down for me just a smidge? Can I get into any place on the phone or from my Windows PC to change this file name to make it work?
save the SU.zip from that post to your sdcard.
then run this cmd after goto bootloader:
fastboot boot twrp.img
Note is cmd is different from the regular flash cmd.
this will boot into twrp, then install the SU.zip you just downloaded.
This way, when you boot into OS, you will have full supersu completely installed. Now your phone is rooted, and you can use root browser or anything you like to rename the file.

So perfect; so simple. Thanks!
Now rooted... I'll go rename that now.
I went to /firmware/image/update, and renamed update.app to updatex.appx. Rebooted with Up+Power, and TWRP is there by default.
