U need the blur_yahoo.apk?
I don't have a yahoo mail authentication apk by itself.
but then again I am on eclipse 1.3rc2
U on a rom or anything?
---------- Post added at 12:53 AM ---------- Previous post was at 12:46 AM ----------
Here http://db.tt/lHH1kPil
Its blur_yahoo.apk
or do u need yahoocontacts.apk?
U may need to push the file to system/app and fix permission to rw-r--r--
If u are on a rom u can just go into the zip u flashed for the rom ans grab whatever file it is u deleted and put it back in

I followed the, "HowTo: Perform a SBF, or "factory restore" of your Motorola Droid X2" thread and was able to fix the problem. Now I just have to root again.
Thanks for the fast reply!!!!

That also works
Next time can I suggest u make a nandroid backup before doing any mods like that?
This way if something like that happens again u can just restore ur stock rooted nandroid and start over saves time and very simple to do. Very helpful to have a stock rooted nandroid backup

Backup Email Settings?

Hello, I was wondering how do you go about backuping email settings? I like flashing roms, but im getting tired of entering 5 emails over and over again. each rom is slightly different with yahoo. sometimes it recognizes it sometimes it doesnt, and my school email all which i have to add manual imap and smtp, so u can see it becomes dreadful. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Before you go telling me to search i have and i only found topics on touch diamon 2 which is WM and not android. KTHXBYE
Use K9 mail in the market instead and then backup the app+data in either Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro (and then restore when you flash a new ROM)?

I'm assuming you mean the android email app and not the gmail app. The info is probably stored in data/data/com.android.email/databases. There are quite a few databases in there and I don't know which one stores your email settings. You could pull them all to your pc and push them back after flashing the new rom. I haven't tested this and don't use the android email app so I can't really test it but have done this with other apps. Can't guaruntee it will work though. Just do something like:
adb pull data/data/com.android.email/databases/* /desktop(or wherever you want them on your pc)
then to put them back just use:
adb push (name of database) data/data/com.android.email/databases/
Just something to try if your familiar with adb at all.

You can try using Titanium Backup to do this - it will certainly back up email data - but my belief is that the issue may be that you will not be able to go across Android versions with the data. Trying to restore the 2.3 email data to a 2.2 ROM (never mind to HTC Mail if you move to a Sense based ROM) could just cause FCs.
K9 mail is really (at least IMHO) much, much better than the stock email app anyway.

You can use a root-aware file manager to do the same things if you want to avoid adb. (Root Explorer ($) or ES File Manager (free) )
Put them in a folder on your SD card someplace.
Using either method you should probably make sure first that the E-mail app is not running.
As doogald pointed out, in general backing up and restoring files from the data area of an app is not guaranteed to work, especially between version changes of the app software; but for the same version of the app it will probably work. You'll have to try it to know.
okay thx everyone. Ive been a community manager before, and this community is excellent.
Ive "solved" my issue. Thanks to everyone who let me know where the db is located at. I tried titanium backup and it allows me to backup the data portion i just flashed gsb 1.6 from 1.5 and then restored the backup then rebooted, works flawless. However something to keep in mind, i might keep a backup of the email app currently using so if i ever need to restore the backup i may do so, ifnot i may give k9 a try anywho thx everyone.
for those new and wanting to know as well, let me break it down.
1. titanium backup (Free version is fine)
- this app backs up the data portion of the application (settings)
2. backup your app with titanium backup.
3. wipe,flash,restore
or many suggest to adapt to a new email app to prevent any inconsistencies in data storage techniques (try k9 email app)
again thx to everyone
titanium backup never worked for me (just email) i have donate/pro version and i've sent a query to support and never got an answer.. i am using mail droid now.. but lemme try the extraction method. should try again with the newest one perhaps it might work... even backing up sms wouldnt work... rest all other program works with it.. (for my part that is)

Same here as well, have tried multiple times & no luck. Any other solution available as of now?
My Back up pro has never restored email accounts either.
Fix?
would really like to get to the bottom of this as well.. quite annoying to restore accounts every time i flash a rom with wipe.
Bump...has a way to backup and restore all email settings of default email client been solved?
Restore default email with accounts with Titanium Backup Root
1. The key seems to be to restore "Accounts" from TiB (hope you have a backup) first.
2. Next, force stop the Email app from Settings and clear data.
3. Restore Email Data only
4. Reboot
5. Run Email
( I used Titanium Backup Root - free version)
I discovered that the app starts up with the restored Data from the App and immediately crashes with "account not found"
Email App stores the passwords in Accounts, so once Accounts are restored everything seems to work, (whew!)
Since I tried a number of things before Email started working, I'm not sure of the exact sequence of restoring the App and Data (I tried restoring the App and Data, which failed, then force stopped the app and restored the app only and then data only - someone please document the exact sequence, I don't want to risk losing my Email accounts as I don't remember the passwords )
I can confirm that your steps 1-5 work well (on CM 11), and that step 1 is essential for step 3.

[Q] How to restore calendar events

Dears,
I've updated to ICS 4.0.3 LP6.
Before, I did a full backup with CWM and applications + data backup with Titanuim Backup.
I'm now trying to restore calendar's event.
They were on local calendar, not Google's.
Well, restoring calendar app+data with Titanium, events are not restored.
I imagine they're elsewhere, so, does anybody know how can I restore them from CWM backup?
Thank you so much!
I would like to know this too.
Mate, I found it:
/data/data/com.android.providers.calendar/databases/
I restored all files in this folder and I got back my events!
Nice find. Hopefully this helps a few people who don't sync their calendars with Google out
Edit to add - Just had a look at the DB, everything is in there. Will definitely be making a copy of this folder whenever I do a backup. Just in case something happens to my synced Google calendar

Also because if you saved events in local calendar, no way to sync them to Google.
The only way was Kies, but on LP2 it doesn't work, no idea on this LP6...

please can you explain what is DB and where to find it ???
I recently upgraded to Jelly Beans and it was too late when I realized that my calendar files that I backed-up thru TB (Titanium Backup) can no longer be restored on the new S Planner. After trying to figure out how I can retrieve all my events back, I came across a file named calendar.db that I found inside of one of the compressed filed made by TB. I tried opening the file and found out cryptic data. I think it was generated by some sort of a DBMS because of several SQL commands that I found. Scrolling down, I found out my calendar entries in a readable format. Too bad, I can't figure out the dates.
Mobile Backup
I've been using the free app Mobile Backup from the play store, but the next time I burn a new ROM (hopefully real soon now once wantowan2 releases his Beanstalk Jelly Bean 4.3 for the Skyrocket...), I'm going to try backing up the folder referenced, then restore it after the burn. Thanks!

[Q] Is there a way to restore android deleted system file?

Hi everyone,
2 days ago I tried to update my aunts sensation xl and told her that it is better to update its ROM from 2.3.5 to 4.0.3.
So i created a google account in phone and added it in order to sync contacts....and after 2 hours, I thought that it has been synced.... but I was wrong.
After upgrading device to ICS, and adding the previous account that i made before upgrading, I was waiting for contacts to restore, but nothing happend....
I opened the gmail account on PC and saw that there was no contacts. So the only way for me to restore the contacts is to find a way to restore them from Phone device.
So,is there any software, either on phone or PC, to restore contacts from phone? or is there a way to have access to root folders and files of phone on PC to use a recovery program to restore "Contacts.db" file that was erased while flashing ICS?
I will appreciate any help from you guys to help me saving my reputation.....
Im sorry but those contacts are gone, you cannot undelete a file like that.
Also, for future reference, google only syncs contacts that you opt to sync when creating that contact (everytime you add a new contact, it prompts you where to save it, you would choose Google Sync)

Check the sim card's phonebook if they have any contacts and also check the sd card if they have any vCards left. If not then they are gone forever. You can also try to copy them from your aunt's old phone. (If she has one)

So you mean that i have to edit SIM contacts again? Add photo, edit numbers, merge and so and so.....?

1) click on thanks instead of saying thank you
2) You won't need to edit contacts if you already have them. But if they are gone then you would have to start everything from the beginning.

Try this one: clear contacts data
Sync contacts to Google in future....so much easier imho
Do not back up or restore any system data with TIBU. This has always been known. Use Google to back them up.

You maybe able to export them to an XML and then save it as a text doc to re-add them manually
Wayne Tech S-III
You can actually use .xml method in titanium, I always use that for call log, messages and WiFi settings, very reliable on those, wether that option exists for contacts I'm not sure

That is not awailable for contacts. I managed to get my numbers to an excel file, but cant find the owner names of them.
One other possible suggestion is nandroid back or flash back to your old Rom, try and restore them, then Google synch them

What do you mean got stuck? Did it restore Ok or has your nandroid failed? If it restored but doesn't boot try formatting system and data then restoring your backup. Failing that reflash a stock version of your old rom then restore your data, sync with Google then reflash new rom and let Google restore contacts.

How can I extract contacts from a nandroid backup?

I am trying to extract my contacts from a nandroid backup. But I am getting stuck on one small step. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I am unable to install this nandroid to my phone. All I need out of it is the contacts.
-Download Nandroid Manager
-Look in \data\com.android.providers.Contacts\databases in the extracted folders
-Copy all files out of this folder
-Give the following permission all files.
Premission Needed in Lollipop 5.1:
rw-rw- --
u0_a3
u0_a3
The only issue I am having is my contacts isn't updating correctly. It doesn't seem to take this change. Is this the wrong location or is it the wrong permission?
Current driver: Ascend Mate 2 Version: Lollipop 5.1 Software: ES File Browser
Other is there another method altogether? Please advise me. Thanks!

Right now, I am trying to replace the database in Lollipop from Jelly Bean's nandroid backup. I have lost some of my contacts and I want to get them back. If this won't work, is there another option?
I have my contacts synced with Google Mail\Contacts. I never lose my Contacts since they return when I log into my Google account.

Do you know if it uses the internal SD card or do I need an account for it? [I assume I would need one.]
You could go back to 4.3, then restore using your 4.3 backup. Open up your contacts app and in it's settings will be an option to export your contacts whether gmail account or phone storage. It will be made into a .vcf file. Go back to lollipop and open the contacts app. In the settings will be an option to import that .vcf file. Voila.
---------- Post added at 02:45 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:56 PM ----------
You technically can modify the .vcf file while on Lollipop and manually include all information, but would that tedious process be worth it lol?
