BBM on Android - Milestone XT720 Themes and Apps

Its possible to hack bbm? and put it on a Android?

I believe thats not allowed, might be a copyright infringement of sorts...

In the web are some rumors... So is a possibility that can be done a port???
Sent from my CronosX MS XT720 using XDA App

Hmm....it may be possible, but porting over a whole OS is not going to be an easy feat. Maybe porting a theme would be easier.

i read a few months ago, that RIM it's gonna use Android as a bridge to make BBM compatible with the new playbook and the new OS QNX

Im not talking about port Blackberry OS... just only the Blackberry Messenger =)
Sent from my CronosX MS XT720 using XDA App

Rumors of this have been circling around the web for awhile now ...i was hopeful any first when it was said to be shown off at blackberry devcon but that has come and gone i used to bbm for the Smileys lol the rumors have been quiet and i doubt this will actually happen but we can all hope... .
As for a hack impossible bbm uses pin numbers that go through bis (blackberry internet servers) that only blackberry has access to..rim would have to port it themselves
Hope this helps

Also rim is somewhat using android with qnx but i think its just an app called android player allowing qnx users to run android apps but i believe the devs have to update there apps to work with it ..so i would start looking into this rumor once qnx starts to release until then i think were just farting in fire looking for rumors
if I helped in any way hit that thanks button!

[Q] Android on iPhone/s...why??

I've just been watching loads of YouTube videos about people trying to install android on iPhones. My question is why?? Android is open source and iOS is closed source. Android users don't see developers porting iOS to android devices do we? Because its pointless and its never going to work. If they want android....buy an android device....simples

Android was designed so that it could be installed on any device. It's up to the developers to fix the drivers to work. Practical? No. Do it because we can? Hell yea!
Edit: for Yall that didn't know.. we got android on microwaves and washing machines now. Seriously. Look it up.

I just don't get it because nothing works on the iPhone version. So then its pretty much pointless. That's like me having iOS on my i9000 but nothing working within lol waste of space and pointless in my opinion

And last but not least:

Or to say it completely freely:
- for the lulz
There doesn't need to be a deeper meaning behind such endeavors. They're geeks. Let them be geeks. Different people do all sorts of different stuff, these people port their favorite OS to every device they can get their hands on.

WP7 possible on Android???

Hello,
Okay, so I know that people always ask, "why the h*** would you want windows phone 7 on an android phone?" But, I really like the simple UI, and I like the way the apps look and things like that, so with that said I have 2 questions:
1. Does a "WP7 rom" exist (like in the WP7 forums).
2. If so, is it remotely possible to even attempt to run it on an android phone?
I am just asking because the way I see it if WP7 can run on an HTC device, why could it not run on an ANDROID HTC device, with the rerouting of some software and things like that. I have a MyTouch 3G Slide (I know pretty old school) but I have already gotten it to do things that they said would not even be in the dreams of a MT3GS user! I am a novice software dev, but I am completely down to learn, 100% with no objections!
Thanks you guys,
Ognimnella

As far as i know, the only non-WP7 phone that can run WP7 is the aging HTC HD2. But i really don't know how far the development has come, so we may see some Android devices run WP7 in the future. Who knows! (Not me)
The wp7 rom is not open sourced so no devs try porting

So wait how have people been able to create WP7 like apps (Launcher7, Seven Calc, Photo Safari, WP7Contacts, etc.)
Sent from my T-Mobile myTouch 3G Slide using XDA App
They rewrote the programs, these ports don't share source with the original wp7 versions. That's why the Android version of these programs work a bit different.

Windows Phone Fascinate

Look guys obviously I know that we have launcher options to replace the homescreen like launcher7, but what I was wondering is has anyone actually thought of developing their own metro style ROM? I honestly love how smooth jellybean is now with all the transitions and animations so if we are capable of porting something like that to our fassys then why not a metro style ROM? it's so simple and clean and user friendly...

lol well yes windows 7.5 or 8... I read somewhere once about there being licensing issues or something like that but really? we have freaking iphone launchers and crap like that why can't we get a new UI?
Licensing issues refers to Windows phone OS being closed source, i wouldn't count on a real port of it. The closest you might get would be a Windows style Rom but you could achieve that with the launcher and Windows themed apps

Nine or ten months ago Lucas.Scott was posting about wp7android.com in this forum... basically android apps, perhaps combined into an android rom, that borrow from the Windows phone ui if I recall correctly. That's more likely what was seen on the x2.

Too bad that Microsoft dictates the number and labels for the function keys... it would be cool if Nokia or Samsung, hell ALL device manufacturers, were to offer/maintain/sponsor ports of android, W8, iOS, and any other os that people will buy... nexus plus?
Apple & Microsoft could charge for the official builds, carriers would bundle, etc.

No, we can't develop for it cuz IPhone is designed for ios and if android is developed for iPhone then I think Apple would sue the developer ( not sure though ). We can't develop properly for it, we need proper packages, omx codecs ,proper libs. Finding or writing omx codecs is difficult job cuz there is difficulty in finding proper omx libs for android phones! How can we find for iPhone???
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
I know its very difficult...but if we try...it will be possible...I have googled it any many say that its possible but a bit tough and risky...for we need jailbreaking iOS....which is easy...then need to put our brains and start the Developement.
Well, you'd need proper drivers; either you get them from Apple or you're building them yourself (which is a real pain).
You'd also need to somehow get the Android kernel in there, which is also a pain, since ... well, it just is...
It's tricky, but I've seen a pair of iPhone 4s with Android on, i just don't know where and when...
Though Android still RULZ
Well it will be.difficult....but i have seen people using android iphone...i know we cant make a perfect rom but still we can make a compatible rom

Don’t forget, judging by all lawsuits (Apple vs the world) no body can develop anything similar to their products or use their products, whilst they continue to freely, so called, “innovate” what android been doing for years (i.e. “pull down notification” blatant copy).

Back in like ios 2 or earlier they used to have android in cydia....And,even then thr marker didnt work...
But as everyones saying...due to the fact that apple keeps everything clised source, sues everyone, and puts in a ton of security...it would be extremely hard and take months if not years...by the time we got it going for one there would be a new one...we hav no source to work with
The people that actually deveolp stock roms get paid and work in large teams and also have degrees in this sort of thing...its there job -and it still takes them about a year to release
Now look at us xda people...some of us,may have degrees in development. But many of us,are self taught. On top of that we all have a life outside of xda...jobs, family friends...so we really dont have that much time to work on stuff. Last...we are not paid...we do it cause we enjoy it...but i dont think anyone would enjoy building android for iphone simply cause you would pretty much have to creaye your own drivers and libs
So sorry to burst your bubble...but i dont see this ever hapoening. The end product isnt worth the work, not to mention the lawsuits apple is famous for...

i dont think it would make much sense. iphone has a processor about 800 mhz right? it wont create a performance thats near to any androidphone, it would probably lose against my x10 with 1ghz and 384 mb ram.... Maybe one could build donut or froyo for it andbthat would also run like it should after two years in development or so, but who would use it (you wouldnt by an iphone if android was on it, because any androidphone would give better performance for lower price, so you buy it because it works better than android and, oh yes, the apple...) I think it would be much cooler to port ios to work on androidphones, soon, when apple "invented" all features of android, it will still have the better performance, thet even hardest androidfans have to see.

It's a lawsuit waiting to happen though...apple would shut it down the moment they heard of it...
iOS is closed source...that being said it requires permission to work with it. With out permission you are illegally working on it. It would not be allowed on xda due to lack of permission...
As for porting android to iPhone...as I said earlier I don't see that happening either...there's not enough demand and we have no drivers/proprietary files to work with

IOS 7 For Samsung Fascinate?

Does anyone know a ROM or way to get IOS 7 on my Fascinate? Ive tried launchers but they are always laggy. Im currently running Hellybean 4.2 and using clockwork mod as my recovery. Thanks

I don't believe this is possible
There are plenty of amazing roms for the fascinate, hellybean being one of the best. I don't know why you would want to downgrade to ios7 even if it was possible?

If you want IOS, you're just going to have to pickup an iphone. The architecture is different and there is no dev team that I'm aware of that will put in the time and effort required to make this happen. I remember a while back someone working on iOS 5 for android but they quit due to the amount of work and resources required

I'm saying there's no point to want iOS 7 if you have android because it looks like a android developer got fired and hired by apple and just made android for apple. I HATE apple. I just wonder how iPhone users feel to own a phone that copies the **** out if android. Apple sues everyone for likeness and bs and then they flat out copy the UI android for the most part

I think there is an obscure way to put ios on an android only because I've seen my brother put ios on his droid 2 a few years ago as well as put ios on his laptop but that wasn't ios 7 and like everyone already said wtf would you want to put that crap on there. Even if I'm right and you do find a way to put ios on your phone there will prolly be a lot of bugs and missing services like a lot of other roms. Best bet is to just pick up an iphone
