Rom manager not working - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My rom manager is not updating, saying some signature error. Right now I am on sensation rom using KI3 kernel.
Can anybody assist and also when I slide on my lock screen to unlock my camera starts automatically.
Please help, this is my first time at rooting.

Signature error due to the missing of zImage. Flash the zImage from your Rooted kernel, via CWM.

Can I flash another kernel over this kernel directly using odin and then installs a new custom rom
Also how many times can I do like this, will it harm my phone.
Sorry but this is my first android phone and I m new to this.
Thx in advance.

What do you need rom manager for? The sensation rom already comes the speedmod kernel which has cwm recovery, boot into recovery if you want to install other roms, don't bother with rom manager. You can flash all day long.

I noticed today that the data connection on my phone is not working the way it used to before I flashed the rom. Any particular reason or remedy for this.
No wonder have a better battery performance

[Q] Extremely new and have a few questions

So I'm really new to custom ROMs and recoveries, and I have a few questions. I already flashed ClockworkMod, but if I want to get rid of it, is deleting the update.zip all I have to do? And if I were to make a backup and then flash a custom ROM, but decided to go back to my recovery, it would be exactly like it was before flashing the custom ROM, correct? I think that's about it, thanks for taking the time to read and answer.
First flash the correct kernel (2.1 or 2.2 ) of the one used for your backup. Then restore. Then delete update.zip
After that it will be how you had it

I think in this case doing you would also need to reset the phone and do a cache wipe as well then reboot and it would see as stock
So how would I get my hands on the stock kernel and flash it?

On the Vibrant Bible thread. Scroll down to Kernals.

Yeah that wouldn't hurt.

So I haven't had access to a computer the past few days, but how would I flash the stock kernel from the Bible thread? Is it just in an update.zip?

From your phones browser download the kernel. Once in recovery locate the kernal on your INTERNAL sd card and flash it like you would a rom. Hope that helps

just over pc or mac! no other way trust me
Yep. Initial root requires a computer.
If you really need to root right now, download Odin and CF-Root on your phone and ask someone to borrow their computer or use a public computer. Move the files to the computer and root it in less than one minute and you're done!
i have a few questions maybe you guys can help... so here we go:
when you root with odin, it unlocks the phone giving you su right. does this also change your rom?
how is the launcher different than the rom? difference between flashing rom and kernal?
last one... when you install a custom rom, can you delete it if there are bugs to reinstall a different one or use the stock?

It's possible, even probable, that he rooted from a galaxys2root.com tutorial, in which case he does not have CWM Recovery. Does the recovery say 3e Recovery at the top?
It is a i777. And i have to chek the cwm.
Its not mine tho

The kernal I would recommend is Entropy512's for the SGP. The tutorial on there is very easy and very stright foward so you shouldn't have any problems at all. I would recommand the rom I'm currently using but the dev removed the link because he is updating the rom.

Nothing in particular's bad w/r/t the stock ROM. It just isn't most people's cup of tea. Chip's ROM is pretty cool, though I'm limited in experience (onyl stock, Eryigit, and Chip's ROMs, to date) What I like about Chip's ROM is that it's up to date and is constantly in development, the style of it (ICS-theme), and that most of the bloatware's been removed. It's very operational and customizable. Plus, many of the "hacks" that he's introduced via init.d or elsewhere (courtesy of St. Matis; I've added a few of my own and deleted a few). He's edited the framework (or gathered it from another source) to get rid of that pesky "Cell Standby" thing that shows up as a battery drain (functionally irrelevant, but annoying nonetheless) and included a number of apps as stock that many here would install anyway. Look at the thread yourself and check its features

Disinstall all driver, make a clean install of the USB driver 1.5.6, install ODIN 1.8 and thats all...You have all you need to write a custom kernel from the stock one.
In Downolad mode the player is visible just from ODIN...i remember...
Otherwise, after installing the c.kernel, from the device recovery you can do all (c.rom-stock-kernel.zip addon).

You update it by flashing the new ROM over the top of it when the foxhound Dev releases it. Exactly the same way as you did initially when first installing Foxhound.
Go to recovery
install zip from sd card (or wherever you downloaded it to)
Flash zip.
As long as you dont format data then you will not lose you apps etc.
Fix permissions is under "Advanced" in ClockwordMod recovery. It "fixes" the read/write/execute permissions of apps to make them compatible with the system.

But when i click the fixed permission it stuck... i wonder why.. i left it for about 5 mins n nothing happen..
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
I had that once. Just reboot the device let it boot fully. Everything will be ok.
Drew071
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
It can take up to 10 mins to fix permissions, just be patient
