Does bluetooth PAN work on the Razr? - Motorola Droid RAZR

Has anyone tried tethering via bluetooth PAN on the Razr?
I know tether over bluetooth is slower than wifi but it is more convenient for me since bluetooth uses less battery.

Has anyone tried this?

I apologize for bumping it again but these forums have been moving fast.

Best Rom/ App combo for tethering?

Hey all,
Just moved for work to a new locale that has no internets... really annoying. I have been attempting to use my Thunderbolt to tether, but it frequently drops out on me and I was wondering if anyone had success with a rom/ app combo for prolonged moderate to heavy internet use. Currently I am using:
-CM7 test 6
-usb tether included on CM7
any suggestions/ ideas are appreciated. If I can't get this to work I'll be building some ridiculous cardboard/ tinfoil contraption in an attempt to connect to my works wifi down the road. Thanks
I have been using Wireless Tether from the market on various BAMF roms with zero issues. No USB needed!
You'll likely need to swith to airlpane mode and connect to wfi on your bolt to find this app. VZW doesn't want you to find it.
I have used Wifi Tether and Barnacle on many Froyo and GB roms, mostly BAMF versions, and I have not had any issues w/ them running.
I've been having good luck using the easytether program off the market on bamf and gingeritis.
i couldnt get barnacle to work with 4g. does anyone know an app that does? id prefer wireless tether but usb would be fine
I'm a heavy "tetherer" (if that's a word...) and I found that the gingerbread radio is the fastest radio, for the phone and for tethering, which means you'll obviously have to be on a gb rom (I'd personally recommend the new bamf 2.1), and I always use the 'wireless tether' app which works the best without any issues (unlike barnacle and others), and i use it for heavy streaming like netflix on pc and ipad, and it works flawless. (You better have it charging though or else your battery will die in no time) cm7 is still pretty unstable (on the thunderbolt) so i don't know why anyone would use it day to day (again only tb, it's my favorite on my evo though!)
hope this helps

Can a bluetooth external GPS be used?

Has anyone ever tried using an external bluetooth gps device? There is a lap timing app(trackmaster) that really benefits from one. My current phone is an HTC Hero. The oem Sense rom didn't let me use it, because it seemed to only allow bluetooth audio devices. Switching to Cm6/Cm7 got things working.
I was just wondering of the Photon could use a bluetooth external gps out of the box. By the way, here's the one I'm using http://www.qstarz.com/Products/GPS Products/BT-Q890-F.htm
I looked into settings on my photon and I don't think it can. Outside of mods and custom ROMs, I don't think the photon will accept input from an external GPS.
CM7 probably represents your best chance for this, but we don't have a working stable CM7 rom for this phone yet.

[Q] ICS with wireless tether for root users support

So as you all know ICS has been out for our phones for quite a while now. The roms themselves run great and seem to work seamlessly except for two major issues I have noticed thus far.....GPS and lack of wireless tether for root users support. For this thread I wish to talk about the 2nd one. Has anyone ran across an ICS build for our phones that support the wireless tether for root users app? The reason why I want to use that is because it supports the AD-HOC function which allows me to keep my current data plan and not add on an additional tethering plan. I know there are other wireless tether apps out there but not all of them support the AD-HOC function. It seems like all Cyanogen based builds will support this function but very few other ROMS/Builds will actually support this. Just curious if anyone out there has ran across this before and seen an ICS ROM that does support this. I cannot be the only one out there who uses this am I?
For anyone who is not sure of what I am talking about, google android wifi tether.
PS-After I purchased a bluetooth standalone GPS device my GPS works fine. I suggest other Vibrant owners out there do the same. I picked mine up on ebay for a little under 30 bucks. For that 30 bucks I get the peace of mind that I can go anywhere and not worry about getting lost or carrying around a whole GPS device and my phone. The thing sits tucked away under my stereo and my gps locks on fast and accurately.
IDK bro but I use barnicle wifi tethering...try that

There is a tethering option under system settings and wireless, just click More and choose tether..

Yea but does that work via AD-HOC, I would hate to get charged for tethering because I do not have the plan.

tethering two android phones over bluetooth

I know it is possible to tether android tablet to an android phone via bluetooth so the tablet can use phone internet. Is it possible to do the same with two android phones? I know it's doable over wi-fi, but bluetooth uses less battery.
in this specific case two phones in question are thunderbold and incredible. thunderbolt is rooted, incredible is not but I can root it if needed to make this work.
thank you

Finally I installed ICS on my incredible and paired both phones but still can't tether. any ideas?
I still need help with this.
I rooted my incredible, flashed ICS ROM and installed wifi tether 2.7, there is a bluetooth tether option there.
my thunderbolt has BAMF SoaB and bluetooth tether is greyed out in wifi tether app.
according to my research, it's a kernel issue, I need kernel that has "CONFIG_BT_BNEP". I tried flashing several different kernels with no success.
if anybody is successfully running bluetooth tether on their thunderbolt, please let me know which kernel you have installed.
thank you
on galaxy ace doesn't work :-??
This would be very nice if anyone could get this working.
I've had my Moto Xoom paired and using my phones internet via bluetooth many times, but I think it would be convenient to share by Droid 4's internet with my old D2 as well.
Has anyone had any luck with this besides using a WiFi hot spot and draining your battery in a couple hours?

Bluetooth Tethering?

"Hello this is my first and I know this is a noob question, but I couldn't find the answer on here completely. Right now I am trying to tether the Atrix to an N7 via bluetooth. Im running Jokersax's CM9 roms that works great. Wi-Fi is perfect, but now sure what I am doing wrong to set up bluetooth tether. Can someone tell me?
Below is a screen shot of what it looks like when they are paired. The reason I want to do this with bluetooth instead of wi-fi is a save a bit of battery life, and next year I'm sure having a rogue wi-fi hotspot will be useful."
Never mind finally figured it out, had to do more than pair it. Oh and a shout out to Jokersax for making a great rom, oh and good luck with unpacking it is something.

Sorry for the lateness. Well what I did on my phone was go to settings-> wireless & networks-> wireless & portable hotspot and checked Bluetooth tethering. As as your phone and N7 have Bluetooth turned on as well as paired you should be fine. Oh and the final thing to do on your N7 is go to settings-> Bluetooth and select your phone that is paired (click the icon that is to the right of the name) click on the check mark for internet access. Your phone should say tethering or hotspot active.
