I was wondering whether it's possible to use any picture for a wallpaper on the SGS2?
If it is, I was hoping to just use a JPG but is there a particular size I need to use and where should I store it on my phone?
Thanks for your help.
Yes, you can use any JPG/PNG/BMP picture as a wallpaper and you can store them about anywhere you like (phone mem, micro sd card). If i remeber correctly, original wallpapers are sized 960x800, but you can use other sizes too as before setting wallpaper you will be asked if you want to resize it or to select only some part of the picture. Just try it

Just open gallery, go to the picture of choice, press the menu button then 'set as' then 'wallpaper. From there you can increase/decrease/move the box as desired.
Gallery shows all pictures on your phone no matter where they are.

Forgiveness if this has been posted already, but there's some leaked g2 walls floating around and they look pretty sick on this phone.

Too bad his little gallery thing makes it difficult to download them.
(Pull up the full-size, and in Firefox go to the Media tab of Tools/Page Info, and it's one of the jpg's near the bottom of the list.)
Found a easier way to download. If you right click open in new tab, it will not give you the flash popup.
Or Right Click, Save Target As
I had no issues on dolphin. I just clicked the thumbnail and the full size popped up and a long press got s saved file.

Thanks for sharing.
Is there a way to put these on the phone so that they show up under the standard wallpapers gallery? Instead of the photo gallery, where you have to crop every time.
Nice find... Thanks for sharing.
For some reason I have to crop all the pics to make them my wallpaper. But what I don't understand is why can't I make my wallpapers look like they did stock. My wallpapers are too zoomed in. I can't capture the true beauty of this screen..... Can anyone help me understand and/or help me find some beautiful wallpapers??

The International Note's wallpaper select tool is far better than the crippled PoS on the AT&T Note. I recommend an app called 'Wallpaper Wizardrii' which allows you to set and manipulate any image for a wallpaper. I've used it for a long time and it's an absolute godsend!
Agreed with juzz86. Use wallpaper wizardrii and if you're using a scrolling wallpaper set it to "stretch landscape".

I use quickpic as a gallery replacement app, much better, you can set wallpapers properly with that too.
Thanks guys I'll be sure to check them out.
Are you Noteworthy??
@JayFreshly
Another quickpic recommendation, been working well, both on GB and ICS
I'm on Jedi Rom using the stock launcher and I love this particular wallpaper but I can't set it as my wallpaper without it forcing me to crop it and the main thing I like about the wallpaper will have to be cropped off. Does anyone know of a gallery, app that can do something about this?

Will do
If that doesn't work, QuickPic will(and it's a great gallery app). DL it and when you go to wallpaper, select QuickPic instead of gallery. It didn't work for the lock screen though(since it has to be cropped), only home screen.

Use Multipicture Live Wallpaper. I normally use this for multiple wallpapers but it allows you to not crop and fit whole home screen. Just download from play store. Hold on on screen click wall paper, then live wallpaper, then multipicture live wall paper, settings.. And assuming yo uwant the same wallpaper for all, go to general settings, picture source, find the picture, and just go back and press set wallpaper.
+1 on multi wallpaper live...never failed me on the cropping issue. When all others tried to make me crop a wallpaper, multi let me full screen it.
Thanks for the suggestions I found out what I need to do. I had to resize the image with a program on my computer.
Does anyone know where the stock wallpapers are located on the DNA? I'm trying to set a Sense 5 wallpaper but the Gallery app, Astro, and ES File Explorer won't let me set the wallpaper properly. I'm trying to set it for portrait yo view to entire picture, but each app wants me to resize it with its framing square. This is a problem because it distorts the image when it zooms in. Can someone help with this? Is there another way to set wallpapers in portrait without having to resize?

Try using this app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.twistedapps.wallpaperwizardrii&hl=en
It lets you set the entire wallpaper instead of having to crop it.

It works except it doesn't fully scale. It leaves a black bar at the bottom of the screen where the wallpaper doesn't cover. I tried using the fix option where you change the numbers, but it didn't work. I guess because this is a full HD device and there's no way to scale.

Nice app but we are looking for a way to take stock wallpapers already on phone from HTC One (from downloading) and taking the entire 1080x1920 image and making it the background. With images already on phone you have to use that selector from HTC which forces you to shrink image...

Nope.
Install the app. Go to your gallery and select the wallpaper you'd like to set
Touch the screen and go to More -> Set as -> set as wallpaper.
That will trigger picspeed.
Have fun
I stand corrected. It takes a little tweaking but it worked! Thanks. You have to goto gallery app then go to picture you want, don't do personalize under settings...once you get to the picsee deal then you have go select the rectangle square on right to get full image...little confusing at first but it worked. The full screen option states it only works on picsee wallpapers...but when I selected the landscape wide option it highlighted the entire image and worked like a charm!
Thanks again!

Anyone found the correct wallpaper size so when using it with Nova launcher doesn't get zoomed if you choose scrolling?
Its really annoying.

I am not sure of the correct size, but I use Multipicture Live Wallpaper if you like the idea of having more than one wallpaper. I look for wallpaper at our resolution (I am guessing 16:10)
I use 500 fire paper. Works great

It's "zooming" because the image must work in both landscape and portrait mode. It will always do that no matter how big the image is. Make sure the image chooser you use shows both the portrait and landscape boxes simultaneously if you want an accurate idea of what it will look like once chosen.

I use 'Simple Image Wallpaper'. You can choose the ENTIRE image for landscape & choose how you want the cropped one to appear for portait (or vice versa). It is NOT a live wallpaper, that is just how it gets around the limitations listed by the Playah above.
Once installed, you pick 'live wallpaper' from the system wallpaper options, THEN 'Simple Image Wallpaper'. Pick your image(s) in settings.
Hope that helps!

I am using Nova Launcher on Note 2 and the screen resolution is 720x1280
multiplied width by 2 so 1440x1280 should be perfect fit.
Try multiplying the height or the width by 2 and see if it fits perfectly
hope I helped
