Hi,
I have a Verizon Fascinate with latest stable CM7 7.1.
I do not have a custom kernel.
When I drive every morning to commute, I use a GPS application for traffic (Waze). While I drive on specific roads (I guess roads that shake the phone a lot), the phone triggers some buttons to be pressed, for example the back button gets triggers a lot, luckily Waze has a quit confirmation. Sometimes also the keyboard popups (that I don't understand how as there is no keyboard button).
This also was happening on my stock phone. I wanted to know if there is any kind of fix for that ?
I don't know for example disabling some bottom buttons while in car mod or during a specific application is launched ? For example with Waze I can quit the app using Menu button, so I could disable the back one. Even though Menu gets triggered sometimes too.
Thank you
If you are in low signal areas the mtd roms have phantom button presses. No fix unfortunately.

Interesting, that explains why my phone goes through fits of doing it.

Yeah, Samsung did a real hack job on the RIL. Seriously, those guys couldn't even develop a cold...

Just searched for a similiar problem and came across this. This explains a lot of why my phone was going full stupid. Also on top of this, if you have a MTD ROM do not use the ROM Tools app from the market. It will glitch that hell out of the phone, like it has terets or something.
By the by, has there been any fix for this or such? I am running OMFGB. I love the ROM but hate the aforementioned glitch.
There is no "fix", but if you're on OMFGB, I'd highly recommend flashing glitch v13.1. Phantom button presses were always *drastically* reduced for me with that kernel. Not eliminated, but vastly improved.
Yes.. There is a fix.. It's in the glitch kernel. It's not complete, ssewxs was working on it. I use a cell booster at home and was plagued with them because of radio interference. He wrote some filters that filter about 90% of them.
It has been found that the root cause is radio interference on the unshielded key hardware. So a filter is probably the best you will get and is probably what Samsung used and kept Proprietary.

Ok, so is anyone else having any of these problems:
- When using camera, screen turns off and on when it tries to focus.
- Receiving SMS issues until reboot.
- Issues going from 4G to 3G, or 3G to or from WiFi, or 4G to WiFi.
- Screen responsiveness issues.
- Random rebooting.
- GPS issues.
Most problems are resolved after a reboot but then come back progressively as I use the phone. I'm rebooting 3-4 times per day. I thought this was Android, not BlackBerry...
I'm not rooted and have already factory reset like 2 or 3 times. My Dinc didn't even have this many problems. :/

Also, when listening to music for a certain amount of time, it just stops and then phone becomes unresponsive till reboot. Not sure if that is a PowerAMP issue or not.

Try flashing an update.zip rom of your device using recovery mode. Might need root. Depends on devices though. Mg N1 works without rooting.

Where would I be able to get that? And how do I boot into recovery? My Incredible was rooted and before the last update, it was power and volume down. Then after the update, it changed to power and volume up.
Also, I did reboot my phone and my camera still doesn't work. I'm going to try to clear the data from the application manager
UPDATE: Clearing data from camera didn't have an effect

I guess you should Google for the steps to go into recovery for Incredible... not familiar with it.
For the rom go search your build number on XDA. You can use custom ones too I guess.
But sometimes it goes 'signature verification failed. Action aborted'. Ask senior members for that. I cannot solve it.

What kind of screen responsiveness issues are you having? Mine seems to "slow" down a lot after a day and a half of uptime, a reboot fixes it but it's annoying to have to reboot that often just because the touch input slows down so much I can't use the phone.
My Galaxy S2 is constantly trying to get gps fix. Is there any way to find out which program that is responsible for this?
long-press the home-button, start task manager and see which apps are running perhaps?
According to task manager WidgetLock is the only program running.
I need a program that monitor all programs and what they do at what time
I have your answer
That damn samsung vingo voice control App(don't know name) while driving. I guarantee that's your problem. Gad the same issue when I made a mistake and clicked it

I have run it a couple of times myself, and then a couple of times to impress women, over the course of a few days - never had GPS issues with it, or excessive battery drainage.
just checked my battery useage and was kinda shocked: gps status uses most battery
i get _decent_ battery life out of my sgs2. 60% after ~24h with moderate useage. so it does not drain the battery but
i never did turn on gps since the last charge so its strange why gps status uses battery... the process is not shown as running which is also strange...
i have german sgs2 with KE2 (no updates in Kies shown for my device so far). unrooted phone.
edit: i dont want deinstall the program as i get extreme fast gps fix (< 5 seconds) so i wanted to hear if anyone else is having similar experiences with the program first...
When i use mobile internet, the marker jumps from left to right or from top to bottom (as if was scrolling). This happend on the original 2.1 sense and on my current custom ROM (Elelinux-7.1.0-Hero-v2.7 Android 2.3.4). Makes it almost impossible to scroll in the app menu since it's scrolling all by itself, or to type anything in search in Market since it jumps right to the search button after typing the first letter. Doesn't happen all the time, but way too often. Really annoying.
Note that it doesn't happen when using WiFi.
Anybody having the same problem? Can it be fixed?
what about browser it did the same problem when you connected by gprs ?

Don't think so.. like I said, this has been the case with both Sense and various Cm ROMs

no if you have problem with sense that problem will happen in all of your rom no't in gprs only .
didn't get that..
Anybody have any kind of solution to this issue?
Okay, this is interesting.
I never related this issue to beeing on 3G or not.
The Device behaves as if you scroll with the trackball to the right but you didn't touch it, right?
I have that too sometimes. I think it is more a hardware issue.
I presume the Hall sensors in the trackball tend to drift after a while.
Scrolling wildly arround on the trackball for a few seconds generaly fixes it for me.
It never bothered me a lot because this occures only very rarely.
Yeap, that's right. It just lives it's own life.. I'll try to scroll like a mad man the next time this happens, thanks
i've been having an issue since CM7 build 5 and now with build 6 where my softkeys stop functioning when i go into my emails and i have to turn the screen off and then back on again prior to being able to hit the back button to get out of my email. has anyone else had this issue or know away to avoid having this happen in the future?
TYIA
+1... I too have been having this issue on cm7 but not just in the email application. In pretty much any application the 4 soft keys stop functioning and don't allow me to use them so I too have to shut the screen off and turn it back on for them to work. This is my biggest issue with cm7 as everything else seems to be working flawlessly and I would really appreciate any insight into this matter as well.

I've been having the same problem a lot too. It tends to happen with Handcent most often. I can't tell what's causing it either.
I started having this issue, but only after I enabled the "press menu key to unlock" option. Did you guys also do this?
No, my menu key isn't set to unlock the device, and I have found it happening in more and more applications.
Wondering if there's a setting that I just need to turn off or on to stop it.

I'm aware that disabling WiFi power saving mode via Samsung hidden menu will fix the disconnecting on a TW ROM. I did exactly that on my nandroided Hyperdrive v12 and it worked perfectly. What I'm asking is...
How do I access the Samsung hidden menu while on AOSP. This IME is a question that goes unanswered. I'm hoping one of our experienced BAD ASS members will chime in and help out. I have had several members confirm they have the same problem.
PLEASE HELP...??? I've spent a ton of time on this issue...
To my knowledge there is no hidden menu on aosp, just TW. As for power saving, if you go to the WiFi screen and hit menu then advanced, there are options there to play with power saving.

I have respectfully posted this question as often as possible and your the 1st member to directly respond to my specific question. Kick ass, not the answer I was hoping for but thanks man!
I turn off the power saving option in the WIFi advanced settings routinely. Well if theres no hidden menu in AOSP then how can I find out where the AOSP equivalent is to the power saving mode in TW that's accessed through the hidden menu. Does that make sense? In other words I experience the same WiFi loosing connection problems while on TW until I via hidden menu disable WiFi power saving mode and the connection is rock solid from there on out. I want to know how to get the same results on AOSP. Of course by doing it the AOSP way...???
I've been on AOSP for a long time and I think the advanced menu is your only option unless there is an app out there I am unaware of. These are my settings for WiFi.

I DL'd WIFI Analyzer read the online help and figured out that my ATT router had been setup by the ATT tech on the same channel as 3 other local ATT routers. 4 different routers on channel 11...so stupid. Knuckleheads making $20 an hour to **** **** up (end rant, LOL). I changed channel to channel 2 and I'm connected solo now. I immediately saw my WIFI status bar symbol illuminate all the bars, never seen that before. This was last night and I haven't had a dropped signal since. I'm on Slimkat and have had 2 other members on Slimkat express they are experiencing the same drops. I also have read that some other members are experiencing the same drops on all AOSP ROM's.
I still have something intriguing me...while on TW, and knowing what your doing, you can access the Samsung stock feature called WIFI power saving "MODE". Turning this OFF IME stops any further WIFI connectivity issues. Does AOSP have the same Samsung stock feature JTC I'm 'not' talking about the advanced options accessed via systemsettings>Wi-Fi>menu>advanced??
Maybe someone can refer me to an accessible member that is a "go to guy" for AOSP questions? I assure you I always use discretion, consideration and mad respect when I communicate with a senior member.
Any measure of help is always appreciated
Good I'm glad you got part of the issue sorted out. I'm almost certain aosp doesn't have the hidden menu but I might be wrong, anyone else want to chime in confirming or denying?
