hey guys, im using:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196421&page=35
root guide to try and root my x10 2.3.3.
i followed the instructions to the letter. but at steps 8/9, they never seem to work. i never seem to be able to get a response in flashtool. and before you ask, yes i have enabled debugging and unknown sources. i have tried everything, this root will not work. i got the root working on 2.1 but the instruction video from http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K8Jfx...feature=relmfu (originally on xda-dev) and it worked on 2.1, then updated official, and it wont work. whenever i reboot the device and plug in the cable, it never works. i dont know what more to do. do i just go back to 2.1 and putting a rom on? thanks
I know. Just try again. I never rooted in first go. Start from step1 again.
thanks, tried about 30 times now. will keep going.

Make sure you have closed all other adb programs like pccompanion and SEUS as they will interfere with flashtool.
Or here is another easy method.
Update to latest 2.3.3 official rom via pccompanion.
Download and install latest flashtool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
Attach phone.
wait for flashtool to recognise phone.
click the root button (The padlock) Follow instruction.
When finished, start again but this time click the key, then the grey square with the cross in it
this will root then install xrecovery for you
thanks mr. bradley, i will try this when i get home later.

I have a X10 Mini Pro with fw 2.1-1 on which I can't seem to install Busybox, and as a result xrecovery and custom ROMs. It rooted fine with SuperOneClick.
I downloaded Titanium Backup (free version) and installed Busybox 1.16.0 from there (which is confirmed by Titanium) but according to some sources this Busybox version is only for use with Titanium Backup. This would be confirmed by Root Check which says the device is rooted but does not have Busybox. Next I tried the Busybox Installer from the Market but all versions fail with a generic fail to install error message. Finally I tried this thread which suggests installing an apk but that failed with a "problem parsing the package" error in Root Explorer.
Have to admit I'm a iOS user which I of course jailbreak until the cows come home, so this phone has me baffled. Rooting, installing xrecovery and custom ROMs on a ZTE Blade was also very strait-forward, but I just can't understand what I'm doing wrong here.
Any ideas are much appreciated!
Hey, the thread you linked is from the mini forum, not the mini pro.
Look in this one and see if it helps with anything.
Thanks for the link, used to install xrecovery but it still doesn't work. I can see the installation happening, the file permissions being changed, and finally getting a "done" and the phone rebooting but pressing the back-key during boot does nothing.
I assume this is still because of the lack of Busybox being installed (Root Check confirms this). It's a prerequisite of xrecovery after all, and the script doesn't install Busybox outside of what Titanium Backup does (which, from what I've read, is not a "true" Busybox).
Therefore - how can I make sure a standalone Busybox is installed?

my suggestion would be to try this one. this installs xrecovery everytime i reflash my phone.
Mikevhl's Script
Works like a charm every time. Just close the superallinoneclick when the window pops up and continue following instructions

Thanks for that. Ran it but Busybox was again not installed, and xrecovery does not run as a result. I'm starting to think this is just plain weird - how can something that works on other phones not work on mine?
Any idea how I reinstall the latest original SE fw? Thinking that I'll do that and run this install right after. Perhaps my messing around has damaged what I have.

Run Sony Ericsson Update Service (SEUS) or repair with pc companion. After fresh flash, run that script for both root and xrecovery, should work flawlessly
Sent from my X10minipro using XDA Premium App
That, unfortunately, does not work. SEUS says there's no software which is fair enough if I'm on the latest fw, but the repair option in Companion says (and I quote): "there is no new software for your phone yet". Absurd, as I want to repair not upgrade.
Any ideas? Or should I just get another iPhone?
The option to repair is really small, but it's there. Try this instead:
http://www.sonyericsson.com/cws/sup...ed/updateservice/xperiax10minipro?cc=gb&lc=en
download that, run it, repair phone, run script.

Thanks, but that links to the SEUS which I have. Running that I got a message saying there were no updates strait away, it was only in Companion that I had the option of repairing even though that also ended up saying there were no updates instead of actually repairing. I'll have another stab at it when I get home tonight though.
i always update using SEUS, of course it tells you that u have the latest fw, but there are still an option to "Install" the fresh fw...just done it this morning

Ah ok, great. I shall try that tonight then.
Or perhaps I shall not. I just can't see where the install option is in SEUS, and I've now gone over it five times. Appreciate a pointer.
Try xRecovery 0.1.1 manual installation.
That is the ONLY one that ever worked for me.

Tried that already, but it fails as I can't seem to install Busybox.

When it tells you have that you have the latest software, in the bottom right corner it should still have a button for "Install", click that and will display a confirmation that you want to clear all data. Select yes and it should begin downloading/installing
I believe that busybox is installed in your x10... No matter what use it for.
Now try this link for your xrecovery and isntall manually.

Try the Flashtool BETA version 0.2.9.1 from here:

It roots, install busybox and xrecovery full automatically after a clean install via SEUS.
Is it possible to downgrade from 2.3.3 to 2.1 if so how ? as to my haste i of course went straight to the upgrade without even thinking and put a 3 on my o2 phone haha :L

agreed, have done a downgrade myself tonight and it worked no problem
Do the steps from the flashtool guide work in 2.3.3? Or is something else needed?
I did a backup with backup and restore and didn't know that it no longer works on gingerbread (damn SE that doesn't tell that on pc companion or seus)
I Can not Downgrade with flashtool
In middle of progress say : " aborted "
I stuck on flashing loader for about 10 minute then aborded
Yes, it's possible to downgrade from 2.3.3. to 2.1. I do it maybe 6-7 times in the last 24 hours without problems with flashtool 0.2.9.1. Try to change the USB port on your computer, remove the battery of your phone, llet pass 2-3 minutes put back battery WITHOUT turning on the phone and follow the instruction of flashtool.

Yes.
You can flash any firmware onto any phone.
If you get an error/abort, just do it again.
Or try FlashTool 0.2.8 (I have issues with 0.2.9).
I just installed Wolfbreaks 2.3 and tried to reboot into recovery but it would just boot into the OS. I followed the instructions on the OP and found that busyox wasn't on the apps list like it should be and titanium wouldn't run because it needed ROOT privileges. help me, how do I install root on 2.3 or is that not possible?

yes, I did every part, I followed the video posted in OP.. my phones rooted but I can't access Xrecovery what do I do?
well I just found a fix for my phone. I think installing over a 2.2 rom was at fault here, for some reason after installing Wolf's 2.3, my phone wasn't rooted (no busybox, superuser,Xrecovery) and once I tried to install xrec on my pc, it wouldn't find my phone, so after all that, I decided to try installing it on my sister's pc and it worked, my phone is rooted with xrec working. so any one out there not wanting to restore back to 2.1 when installing 2.3 SHOULD install back to 2.1, installing from custom roms causes problems, learnt the hard way,. but if there are people here that went the same way I did and don't have their x10 rooted, go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1196421
install Xrec and root it
so i messed up while trying to go from oodies prime 7 to try blackedition and had to start all over. i flashed a generic x10a firmware but now it refuses to root. i have tried these methods
http://www.xperiax10.net/2011/09/08/root-your-gingerbread-xperia-x10-tutorial/
http://androidflip.com/how-to-root-xperia-x10-running-on-android-2-3-3-gingerbread/
which both worked for me last time i had to root gingerbread. but now they wont
so idk wth to do....
anybody wanna help me out ?
thanks
mrljlamon, use last version of FlashTool - is possible еo receive Root with "One-click"
See to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=920746
thanks. i actually restarted my laptop and tried the other method and it worked. but thanks for your tip. it will help in the future
Hi all,
I am currently using a ICS based custom rom on my LWW and the battery drain is driving me insane.
I'm hoping that I can simply install GB (with root access) then begin to uninstall all the unnecessary programs accordingly.
My question is what is the simplest method in doing this? I thought about installing 4.0.2.A.0.62 version but I don't know how to gain root access in this (.58 is easy to get root access on). In searching for solutions, people on this forum agree that a person should flash to .58 then do a OTA update to reach .62. However when i did this (through wotan server) I selected Australia (where i'm from) but was only given the option to upgrade to ICS version, not the .62 GB
I am just wondering what is the simplest way i can get .62 and also get root access?
Regards
Jay
P.S: I'm looking for a simple GB version but all seem to be quite heavily modded (plain .62 GB version with the basics mods ) which seem to have few glitches/bugs
You don't need to purchase the firmware for your region, just use a generic :good:
Search for a .42/.58 firmware, root it and do an ota update (via wifi) to .62
How to root is in my rooting guide!

Hey
Ok, i did get manage to get to .58 and then got a option of upgrading to .62. However my phone stopped working (green blicking every time i tried turning it on). The phone refused to turn on.
I used the 'UnbrokingXperia2011' pack listed on the tutorial to get my phone working.
At the moment it's charging and is on .58. I just received the upgrade message (upgrade to .62) to upgrade. I'm wondering will this do it again?
I read that if I have a unlocked bootloader, it causes issues?
I still have no way to upgrade to .62 with root access

Yes, OTA updates brick the Phone if your bootloader is unlocked.. I came across this yesterday while searching for links for my guide - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1688980 - which you could try.

Hi there,
Thank you, yes on my third attempt i was successful
YAY! .62 with root!
However believing that i should flash custom kernal, i flashed X kernel 2.6.32.59 (flashed wlan fix then kernal) without wiping anything - just went into recovery and flashed it straight. Everything works fine except i can't turn on my wifi :/
I tried replacing it with Rage Kernal 3.0 but it still get an error when i try to turn on wifi.
I'm hoping i don't have to reflash the whole thing
Thank you
Edit:
I cleared Dalv Cache and then flashed the wlan again but i'm still receiving the error. I should of backed up my wlan
Any way to solve this issue?

Hi there,
Ok
These are the steps i followed:
Flashed the X Kernal via FlashTools
Booted to home
Turned off phone then rebooted into CWM
Flashed the wlanv4 zip
Rebooted home
Tried to turn on wifi but getting the same message, "Error"
So then i did the same thing again but before i flashed the wlanv4 zip, i wiped the Dalv Cache to see if it made a difference. It didn't
Still stuck with the same "Error"
Also tried to flash bbooff;s Kernal through CWM and flashboot.
Link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25499983&postcount=101
but getting the same error
Edit 2:
Ok, i reflashed the whole thing. I'm now stuck again :/
After rooting .58 then using the Xperia-Root option given by puppet13th i keep getting a white blinking light with reboots. It just going round and round.
Argh!
Just need a simple .62 GB for LWW with Root! hehe
Damn i need to ask someone to do it for me. I tried doing it on my own but it didn't work out the way i wanted it to be (reboot loop).
Sigh*
Edit 3:
Is there a place i could request this? A rooted .62 LWW flashable rom? There doesn't seem to be one around on the forums (that i could find).
Regards
When you reflash the stock ROM is it restoring your WiFi?

Hi there,
Yes i am on .58 at the moment. It won't boot to .62 (White LED, continues to blink then phone reboots again) when i tried to follow the steps provided by puppet13th.
I have been looking and trying to figure out a way that i can make a rootable .62 for my LWW
I've zipped it under normal compression with WINRAR. Let's see how it flows ...
Wish me luck :fingers-crossed:

I'm getting a bootloop on rage kernal
Followed this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1849867
