Battery Life - Motorola Droid RAZR

Anyone else seem to get a boost in battery life after a few days of having the device? I am on 40% after 17 hours of moderate use.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA App

It's absolutely normal. Batteries need a few cycles of charge/discharge for getting the full capacity.

Hi everyone!
I d like to ask you about smart actions..when I try to set a trigger based on location, I cannot because appares that I have "no location to view" and I can't find a way to set it...am I the only one who got this problem?
Sorry for my bad English..good morning to all!

Im using Juice Defender along with Smart Action. They stumble over each other once in a while, but seem to be doing a good job of working together.

This is my battery use on razr. It seems to get better with the more use it has. Really like the phone but i have black streaks and blotches when there is a black screen. I have been using twitter. Whats app, playing a couple of games, surfing the web, what id class as light to moderate use, 30 minutes talking on the phone, my screen is set to minimum, turned pocket detection off now, lasted a lot longer than yesterday.

How is the battery life with 4G (LTE)?

4G will eat the battery. Today was my first day in real world use so I set it to 3G. I set a smart rule for it at work, so except when I had to go out, it was set to use wireless and turn off 4G/3G. I took several pictures, had a few calls, several text messages, surfed a bit and used Tapatalk a few times.
It came off the charger at 7:00am. It is almost 7:00pm and it has 30% left. This is quite acceptable to me as I have always had to charge my phones every night. When I go to bed it is set to not do any synching so I don't hear those beeps throughout the night. The ringer is left on as I have to have that for my business. At 7:00am it switches from Night mode back to Home mode.
So far very happy. I am going to let it charge a couple of more times, then I will turn on the 4G for the day and turn off wireless and see how it does. I don't expect it to last though.

Today is my third day using the phone after a full charge, along with 4G. I'm at 12 hours of usage with 30% to go. Quite happy.

Battery is Just Fine
The battery is lasting 15+ hours using a combination of 4G and WiFi. Charged it to full before first power on and haven't had any problems. Battery is actually better then on the Bionic I had.

Can't say I am pleased with my battery life. About to hit 5 hours off the charger with light use only and no wifi, GPS, or Bluetooth and I am under 20%. I have to rely on cell data since no wifi at work. I always have a signal of at least 2 bars.
The low signal shouldn't drain my battery this fast right? I have never topped 6 hours and I have had it since the 11th.

Fair (3G)
Battery level is fair IMO. Using only 3G and Wifi.
Very moderate usage through my normal work day. Spent alot of time talking on the phone. As you my notice, I'm on an active phone call at the time of this image.
Hopefully the more usage the better the battery will last. Still loving the phone though, big improvement from my DX2.

Yes, i have selected location trigger, but i have no + button. Some other users in Italy have the same problem

My battery life is increasing each day since Friday, very pleased with this phone. Only complaint is the Bezel surrounding the screen, think they did that to hold the battery and internals since the phone is so thin. Reading about people not liking the screen, seeing pixels, I have has almost every top of the line Android and this is the best one of all, best before this was the incredible, but this one's black's are black, not washed out, very pleased. Wish the text was larger though

agreed. to answer op, i personally noticed no difference in my everyday real world usage.
Not much
I have 3 razrs [one kicked the bucket] and I get maybe an hour more use on 2.3.6 than before.
I am a heavy user of Bluetooth and h+ data and tether my Xoom for internet.
Lasted almost all day yesterday, from 9am to 4pm bt tethered and a half hour call to rogers. Normally would go dead and screaming by 2:30 under those conditions.

I do felt an improvement, I usually leave my phone on 2g only for chatting, and when I need to browse or download something I switch it to 3g, which may mean that in 2g the change is quite big if you ask me, otherwise (by using the 3g mainly in browsing and or gamming) you wont notice that big of a difference.

I have just the regular Razr and my battery life is significantly less than Gingerbread. When I check the settings it says that the major usage is screen, even though I have it down to 18% brightness level. As an official release is months off I kind of expected bugs to be worked out, but hopefully someone figures this out before then.
Nila
What is your screen on time and how long is your phone awake. Maybe an app is forcing your phone to awake instead of letting it idle/sleep even though the screen is off. Check the other graph with the bars on the bottom.

There's a wakelock keeping your phone from sleeping. I believe its in the android os grouped apps, probably means it bloatware.

Right now the battery is at 70%. It's been on for 4.5 hours and only a few phone calls made really. Screen accounts for 35% and Voice calls 20%, Android OS 19%. There's a separate Android System that is 3%. Time on shows 26m42s. I'll keep an eye on the time on and see if it looks right to me later.
I got the same battery life on ics I get on gbread. 5 hrs screen on on 3g. Use battery indicator. Its free in the market and there is a checkbox that shows 1% increments. If you can't get 4+ hours screen on time something is running away and you should do a factory reset. Start over.

The reason i think its a wakelock is because of your screen shot, if your android os time on keeps pace with your phones time on, its most likely going to be an app in your /system/app folder keeping your phone from sleeping. I had the same problem, I found for me it was the Verizon backup apps I had initially set up then decided Verizon were evil bastards and removed my account, set my phone to stop syncing in settings, but the apps still held a wake lock and network connection that started at boot.
One thing i cant stress enough is to exit your apps with the back button, not the home button, the home button is for multi tasking between apps and keeps apps fully running in the back ground, that will help a little with all the apps eating small percentages that add up

[Q] From 100% to 46% in 30 minutes?

Hello all,
This morning, I woke up at 6, as usual, for work. I removed my phone from the charger around 6:30. It was at 100%. I turned off WiFi and put the phone in my pocket. Got in the car and went to work. I look at my phone when I get to work and it's at 46%. I didn't use it for anything in the 15 minutes it takes to get to work. I actually didn't even turn the screen on until I sat down at my desk at 7:00.
Any idea what would cause this? On normal standby with average use yesterday, it didn't get to 46% until 7 pm last night.
I have attached screens. Thanks for all of your help.

As far as I know, T-Mobile doesn't have 4G LTE in my area. I appreciate the reply, though.
oh yeah not LTE but still a 4G signal.
and the top of the list is Cell Standby, as far as I know that is your Mobile Signal/Data battery drain

If your carrier don't support it, you need to disable it because it will drain your battery in standby mode.

also you need to plug/unplug charger (just a quick one) for the BBS to make a reference.
Also, zero widgets on my home screens. Factory reset on Tuesday night. It was great yesterday (Wednesday). Just got the phone last Friday after having 6 G2x's and an Exhibit 4G (after getting the run around from Tmo about the awful G2x).

People said that's because of the 4G. Looks a bit stupid to use so much battery in so mess time. You should still check BBS later. As I see in your screens, the phone had no time to collect enough data. Leave the app started during 1-2 hours and check it after. If possible, don't use the phone during this time. Exactly, you need to leave it few hours in the same way you left it when spent all the battery.
The differences between the S3 I9300 and SGH-T999 are that your phone is dual-core 1.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon with 2 gigs of RAM while our phone (GT-I9300) is quad-core 1.4 GHz Exynos 4412 Quad with 1 gigs of RAM and the firmware isn't compatible one with the other. Right after I rooted mine I had terrible battery as well. I ended up reformatting (not wipe, actually formatting my system and caches) and then installed my rom again, fixed permissions and my battery life has been amazing. If I don't use the phone my battery maybe drains five percent all day long. If I use it a lot it will last most of the day as well.

The other thing you should check is you fast dormancy.
If you're flashing custom ROMs it's best to do it at a FULL 100% charge. In the past, before I started doing this, I had major battery life "problems." My phone would drop from 100 to 1 in a matter of hours and just hang on 1% for hours on end. If you haven't done this, download Battery Calibration, turn off your device and plug it in. Once it reaches 100%, turn the device on, run the app, and restart your device WHILE STILL PLUGGED IN. Once everything settles you should be good to go.

I didn't like it myself. It kept screwing around with screen brightness. I like my on auto brightness., I think it kept putting it on low. And it kept turning on my wifi and searching for connections. Just my 2 cents.

I didn't like it, it kept turning on my wifi when I didn't want it on and I don't think it did anything for my battery at all.

I've been using it for a month and definitely helps. You can go to settings and turn the wifi control off so the app will have no control of it.

Well, I feel it does its job well. The point is to be efficient as possible depending in usage. No matter what, it isn't gonna give you hours of extra on screen time. I feel its main purpose is to manage the battery better when ur NOT using ur phone. So far, I haven't used my phone much other then to read some texts, emails and xda and this is what my battery looks like right now.
Best day Ive had was a 21 hour day with moderate usage (YouTube, texting, emails, minor gaming). That was after letting batteryguru was out of learning mode.

Downloaded yesterday and I'm still in learning mode.
I turned off WiFi control as I toggle it on/off as I need it throughout the day, so I feel this would be a little redundant.
I like the concept of the app and hoping it helps out; once I'm finally out of learning mode that is.

Last day without Battery Guru I had 7% remaining after 15 hours and 53 minutes. First day post-learning mode, I had 13% remaining after 15 hours and 49 minutes with 3 hours and 3 minutes of screen on time. Sadly, I didn't have the correct app to determine how much screen on time I had on the first measurement, but I use my phone about the same way every day.
My biggest complaint with Battery Guru is it forces WiFi on when I'm on the road. I'm not seeing a big enough improvement to get excited about and think that me just toggling WiFi on my own will be just as effective.
On a side note, my daughters phone had 3 hours of screen on time and her phone lasted only 11 hours. She has the Droid Razr HD which comes with a 2530 mAh battery whereas the DNA only has 2020 mAh. Quite impressive for the DNA especially considering the larger, true HD screen and quad core processor.

You can turn off Wi-Fi management by going into the app's settings. Learning mode came off for me yesterday and my God has it made a difference. You know I forgot to charge again lol.

Will I have to restart learning mode if I flash a new ROM?

Simple answer...yes, you will need to download the app again and it will go through a learning period.
Perhaps I'm blind but in the usage statistics I don't see screen on time. I know its gotta be there.

It doesn't start saving battery until after the learning phase I'm pretty sure. Might just be the placebo effect.
