Once you merge you just need to sync with Google. Any change to a google number should be recorded by Google's back in.
Another way and this process is long but sure to work would be to save the facebook contacts to your phone. Then sync with google. Then merge the contacts.

Contacts sync ?

So I just noticed that whenever I add a new contact its not being synced and added to my Google contacts .. whenever I added a contact on my nexus it automatically added it to Google contacts. How come it doesnt on the tbolt?

I am seeing the same thing... My droid always uploaded everything and now my Thunderbolt doesn't. The Apps don't go to the Cloud either. It says when I setup the google account that it's going to sync but I don't see it doing anything. I reformat nothing comes back....

Seems there's often a delay between the syncing of Google and my backup.
Sometimes when flashing roms ill get all my contacts at once other times it seems to take awhile.
Best option is to export your contacts to sdcard occasionally.

Well that's dumb. Does anyone have a solution?

I noticed this too. Not sure why this is happening. Maybe the GB build does not have the Google sync functionality working properly?

I suggested a solution, export contacts to sdcard.

That kind of defeats the purpose of an android phone then.. its made so everything is synced with google regardless of which device you are using
Hm, im not using a GB build, im using perfect storm weird

I was having this issue as well, and read about it somewhere on here.
Google.com/contacts is your friend. Use it.
If you input a contact, via the phone, make sure you change it from a "phone" contact to a "Google" contact.
Problem solved. ;-)

Ah thanks, for some reason if you add a contact from another app it would default to the "phone" contact option with no option to change to google.
Thanks

Is there a way to make the Google way default?

Twitter Integration

I know from messing around with the htc evo 4g lte it has the ability to sync contact from twitter.
I have since upgraded to the Galaxy SIII and want to know what app would provide similar twitter integration

When Twitter is first downloaded and opened up it should come up with an option to sync contacts once you've signed in.
If not, try reinstalling it again.

No like in my contacts app I can link Facebook profiles etc. But twitter isn't an option.
On the htc you can link your peep(or whatever their twitter app is) to your contacts.

No need to do it in contacts, by installing Twitter you can sync your contacts from Twitter INTO the contacts app

Transferring contacts from one Gmail account to a new gmail account

I'm having real issues syncing my contacts from my old gmail account to my new one......I own a Mac and it has serious issues importing /exporting CSV file inside the gmail web app......is there anyway to do it other than this way.....perhaps by using the phone sync..... thanks in advance....

Have you tried the vcard format? Says it's for exporting to apple address book so my guess is it would work on a mac.
Google can import vcards as well so seems a good option if it works.

Contact help

I went back to 4.1.2 recently and while I was trying to do the google setup I noticed I forgot to flash the at&t modems so my wifi wasn't working, I went back to flash it and when I reboot my google setup had been complete only with no restore on anything, I think I lost all my contacts no apps, but maybe if I can restart google setup I can restore them?anyone know how without reflash?
I can't remove it in accounts and sync

I don't know if this is why, but it appears Google is having sync issues right now.

Can you see your contacts if you sign in to Google on a PC? You said you can't remove the account in Accounts & Sync? Why not? Does it give you some sort of error?

Good question, but at least you know they aren't lost. I would try to find out why you can't remove that account. If you could remove it, then add it back, they should sync. If all else fails, you could reflash.

New contacts not syncing properly

So hey I had a few new contacts. So I went into settings and synced those contacts. Then I turned sync off. I never have auto sync on because of the battery issues. But when I flash a ROM, and log back into my gmail. Those new contacts I recently synced aren't there

You guys are saving them to the phone or to the email address, when adding them it will show you where is been saved. Once in a while is good to synch to make sure is been saved
