Best Settings for Camera - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys I love my GS2 but want to get the best out of the camera, can anyone tell me the best settings to use to get the best out of it ?
Cheers

Depends on situation dude. I just make sure that Anti shake is On always, and image quality is Superfine with Full res 8 MP.
Use the Scene modes properly to get the best effect. Beside all that you gotta have steady hand

[Q] How best to maximize G Tablet Camera Settings using CM 7?

I am using CM 7 with my G Tablet and like this the best overall of the available ROM's for use. My only issue is with the camera. I know it's not meant to be a replacement for a more standard camera (digital, or good phone camera like my Vibrant), but when I view the saved pictures it's pretty appalling. They look so bad that they could almost be .gif files rather than "Super Fine" setting jpg's. Is there a way to optimize the camera for better (or at least decent) pictures?
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.
Curious too. I'd like to get away from the stock cam/corder since it crashes if you take a image, take a video, then back to try and take another image.

[Q] Need Help with Camera Settings

Hello,
I know this is a Stupid Question.I want to Have a Excellent Quality of Pics with Camera. Can you guys give me few Suggestions about it or the Settings came with Mobile are good no need to change?
Let me say it this way.
It's not the camera takes excellent shots. It's you.
I'm rather experienced photographer and this is an advice i may give you free of charge
Nah, just joking, but there's no joke saying you (not the camera) are responsible for quality of your shots... first of all Samsung's phones by default take good pics, you may change many diffrent setting, where I suggest you work with:
* White Balance
* Using flash light (or avoiding using of)
* Exposure compensation etc..
But that's just a headache really! The most important thing is to know how to compose shots. Color, contrast, lines, curves, points, expression, dynamics or a lack of, sharpness or a lack of (whatever you think is required) etc, etc... after all you just need to shoot as much as you can to find out how YOU see the world. Simple
You need to realize one thing, there are many photographers having gear (DSLRs, flashes, softboxes) worth thousand$$$$ but still taking crappy shots while there are also passionates who owns simple devices and shot f**ng amazing stuff, for instance just search for "The best camera is the one that's with you" at Books.Google.com, one lad published (in real world, bookstores etc) an album containig photographs taken with a bloody iphone! And these shots are truly pure genius mate!
Once again: It's not the camera - it's you!
Good luck!

[Q] [Camera S2] Manual shutter speed or Exposure lock (AE lock)?

My hobby is photography and I like doing panorama photos by stitching 5+ normal photos to one panorama. Without manual shutter speed or exposure lock on the camera, I can't do that...
My question is - Is there a way for this on Samsung Galaxy S2?
Sorry but photography on a smartphone camera? Really?
There is a panorama shooting mode in the camera app...

Why be a ****, just ****ing help him. There's a panorama option in the camera app.
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
AFAIK there is no option for manual shutter control. And for panorama, it's there in the camera settings.

Sorry if I'm being a "****", but I agree with him. Phones are not for this. If your hobby is really photography, you don't do it with a phone, unless you're a hipster, or you can't afford a good camera. Yes, when you need a quick pic, it's okay, but that's not the real thing :/
Also, ICS should have nice panorama feature, let's just wait for it.
Hello again
I have DSLR, but I'm not that much into photography to bring it everywhere with me...
Here is some samples with my old phones (first from Sony Ericsson K770 3,2MP, others from Samsung Omnia 5MP)
I try the panorama on Galaxy S2 (also other panorama programs), but they DON'T have AE lock, and stitching its not good (for example, try do panorama in dark room with one bright window...)
So, is there hope for some software developing on Android, maybe for ICS?
Hello again, just want to say that I found some kind of solution, if someone other than me is interested
Fast Burst Camera app (in beta for now) have some AE lock and I can take photos for panorama, thats GREAT, but the app can take max resolution of 800x600 ...
Also if there is other program... PLEASE let me know about it, I'm interested in paying for it
no need to pay, use fireworks mode,
stock cam app extends shutter speed to 1 second.
here's my sample

Hello again
I've found the perfect camera APP and its called Camera FV-5 !
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.flavionet.android.camera.pro&feature=search_result
V1.1 supports AE-L (AutoExposure-Lock), but only for ICS devices. However, it's not working on custom ROM's, that's what the developer of the program say'd to me, when I ask him "why does AE-L not working with me". I'm ont Lite'ning V2.6 ROM (ICS 4.0.3 based).
The developer say'd that this future works only ot original ICS releases (for now), it has to do something with the camera driver/apk (I don't understand that much)
Could I flash from somewhere original ICS base on this ROM, the only thing I want is to work AE-L on my phone

I found out how to lock the focus (it's the last option in the Focus menu), but how do you lock the Aperture?
Also, I tried the Exposure Bracketing and took 7 shots, would anyone recommend a free software to make an HDR picture out of these?

good/expensive equipment might give you clearer pictures with higher pixels but it is also not wrong for anyone (including photographers) to use their smart phones for photography, as the matter of fact capturing photos at the right moment is the most important factor of all.
many of my photographer friends enjoy the photo taking capability with today's smart phones for several reasons: 1. it's very handy because people carry their phone on them all the time. 2. Easy-Quick to use 3.picture quality is good enough in most cases.

New cm10.1 HDR camera?

Hi,
I saw some news on g+ about a hdr feature for the cm camera in next builds.
I would really like to get my hands on this for defy cm10. Did anyone fool around with this already?
one less gadget.

the camera sensors are relatively poor on the defy compared to most current mid-high range devices. Many of these devices offer ZSL (zero shutter lag) which is imo absolutely crucial to stitching a quality pic from 3 different shots. we can't change the defy hardware, so this hdr option would hardly offer much of any benefit.
AW: New cm10.1 HDR camera?
I know it is possible to replace the cam of defy ......
But i do not know if the there is a cam aviable for its interface an the driver question is also a problem .....
So i think we cant get this features
MB525 red lense
HDR camera feature
not sure how far we can keep pushing our defy, but it would be good to have. I'm sure if it's possible someone with knowledge will manage to get it into our future rom builds
Pro HDR camera app (find it on gPlay) does an OK job as long as you remain relatively still when shooting.

Burst mode

Hey guys,
does anyone knows how to get into burst mode in the official camera app ?
I tried long pressing, it does not work and there are no settings to activate it.
I've downloded the plugin called timeshift burst but it's pretty limited (picture size is 720p).
Cheers.
No, there is no way at least at least the moment to get better one to official camera
Sent from my Z5C device (shiieeetttt!!!)
oh my god and panoramas quality is aweful...
I come from an S6, this is just not comparable.
S6 camera is way faster and delivers much much better quality images.
Setting a reminder to not believe tests anymore...
