Battery use breakdown - Motorola Droid RAZR

What's everybody getting for battery usage?
I have android so using about 30% right now. That seems high to me. Or is it typical?
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA Premium App

Android is at 20% on my system. I am am at 30% battery after 12 hours plus non-LTE usage. I think the main thing to worry about is whether or not your phone is awake when your screen is off. Also, Juice Defender seemed to cause conflicts, and my Razr has been better without it.
Sent from my DROID RAZR using XDA App

Yea It's 18% usage for Android OS for me after 15 hours (I'm at 15% battery left). I believe it's high compared to my Xperia X10 2.3.4.. I am not sure this is normal. Maybe the smart actions are included in Android OS and it ends up eating more juice than saving some? lol. Else maybe some expert could explain us why it is that high.. I think techfan2011 is right, need to worry about if the phone is awake or not..

Battery on DROID x2 gingerbread.??

Ok so I've been searching and searching for something to fix this suck ass battery life. I've removed home from my apps. I've done everything.. I see that idle is at 80%, idk what else to do..
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
Have you tried fresh install. Sbf back to stock then rooting again. I keep my battery settings on performance, didnt remove much bloat, just the crap games and kindle. Also get poor service which kills battery little but I only have a 20% idle and 5% cell standby. Also I calibrated my battery to help a little with the app and by charging all the way and wiping battery stats in recovery. If none pf that help dont know what else will but someone might.
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA Premium App
There's a couple threads on this same forum with the same issue. You might look at some of the suggestions there. When you upgraded, did you use the pre-root, sbf, factory reset, do it at full battery, etc.?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
No solution yet. I've found this issue in threads for a lot of other phones that received 2.3.3 update.
Sent from my DROID X2 using Tapatalk
battery calibration as well as bloat freezing took my 24 hours or less lasting gingerbread and made it go about 4 days now on a full charge with no worries on moderate use (not playing youtube videos for 3 hours straight)
Is 38% an acceptable percentage for Phone Idle after 18 hours? It's the #1 battery user on the list.
Well I had horrible battery with 2.2.2 so its the same crap for me. I might as well do ANOTHER battery calibration or just keep killing the battery and charging for a bit. I just did that for the first time since getting GB today so lets see how that goes. It doesn't seem to die from standbye that fast like others say but just simple things like texting.
What all did you freeze?
Sent from my DROID X2 using XDA App
I must have a very good battery. Running OTA GB. I unplug it from the charger at 0600 and don't plug in until 2230 at night. Charge is only down between 60% & 70%. Wi-fi is off most of the time but I do run BT all day. I get 4-7 phone calls that can last up to 10-20 minutes at a time, average number of apps running including the usual bloat.

After I got the phone, I used it stock for a bit. then rooted it with Gingerbreak. Ran Titanium *Root and backed up most of the items on the bloat list posted elsewhere. I uninstalled a couple but then decided I needed to get it back to stock as Gingerbread was rumored to be just around the corner. I SBF'd the phone per instructions in these forums. The SBF restored the APKs I had uninstalled. I took the OTA when it came out and my battery life is good. No scripts, nothing special installed. Two apps I recommend are Advanced Task Killer and Superbox - both from Market. I see roughly 125-140mb free memory with caches emptied.

idle at 80% is a good thing. The idle statistic means your phone is using the least amount of energy possible. 80% idle in the battery manager means 80% of the time your phone is turned on it's using only the minimum amount of power required to stay powered up.
Those percentages don't mean it's using 80%, it's a "time in state" percentage.
If android system or a user app is 80% then you have a problem.
As stated in previous posts, if you truly have battery drain (less than 15 hours on a standard battery) check out the main thread on battery issues in gingerbread.

My battery life on my phone isn't the best (maybe its my phone maybe I'm not doing something right). I like my razr right now...if I had better battery I would love and If I had a battery case it'd be the best android I've ever had. So has anyone heard of a battery Cass for the razr???

With 4g enabled, medium use (some surfing, a few youtube videos) and just a few short phone calls I get 13 hours at the 20% mark.
I don't even know the length of battery life on mine as I'm always moving it from car to car to home and back and when it's in the car it's always on the charger in the car mount. So the charge is always up and down. Whenever I need to take it somewhere without a charge for any length of time though I'll use taskmanager and shut everything down that isn't needed so I can stretch it as far as possible.

Get yourself an Anker Slim Talk battery pack ($27 from Amazon). Attach it to the back of the phone when needed using industrial strength adhesive Velcro. It fits there perfectly and the two together are about the thickness of a Rezound. Plugs straight into the micro usb slot with a built in short stretch cord and you're charging without missing a beat. Strip it off when your charge is solid. Believe me, this is a perfect solution to battery anxiety.

We don't have 4G in the UK so that might well be the basis of this. I've always had a taste for the esoteric and phones like the Moto Razr and Galaxy S2 Skyrocket aren't popular over here (latter isn't even available). For a phone (smart or otherwise), battery life of less than 24hrs simply isn't acceptable!

People using smartphones being on-line all the time got used to 12 hour battery life a long time ago.
Yes, I am talking about people in the UK.
I Mine runs 12 - 15 hours and I'm at 20-30 percent. I've set up some smart actions to conserve battery life with success. One funny thing I noticed though was that when you setup a battery triggered smart action you have the choice of 25%, 35% etc. but the indicator only show 20%, 30% etc.
Anyway compared to my old HTC Desire HD the batterylife of the RAZR is superior!

Battery life and batteries

I dont know if i just have a bad battery in my phone but ive had it about a week now. No matter how much i use it even if i dont use it at all i can pull it off the charger at 7am and by 1030 or eleven its dead. Ive tried multiple roms to see if it helped but nothing. So my question is do droid x batteries work for this phone too? Ive been searching amazon for extended batteries and it seems like most are for droid x but some say that they are for both. Also does anyone else experince this? With the way the battery is on 2.3.4 i go from full to 15 percent out of nowhere. Im hoping an extened battery will at least allow me to get a full day of work out of it. If someone could link me to a good battery theat they have used that would be great too. Thanks.
Are you heavily calling, texting, gaming, etc during the time your phone's battery is rapidly gaming? Do you have your brightness turned all the way up? Do you allow account synching in the background? All of these are the main causes of battery drain, though they shouldn't drain it quite that quickly. You could very well have a bad battery. Try downloading app/widget battery left, charge up to 100%, and check the voltage on the battery. If less than 4.2 volts, it could mean a battery issue. However even if at 4.2, I can't gaurentee battery health.
Yes, Droid X batteries do in fact work for our phones. I'm actually using the Trident Electra case and battery meant for the X. I highly recommend it, I love the battery life (3 or so days without charging) and the protection the case offers.
Hope I could help!
Yea I hardly use ny phone for calls. And text. Mainly emails and just browsing the forums from time to time. But I manually sync my accounts. Just for this reason. But I have nevr seen anything like this. I have battery minored widget pro voltage is fine the graphs are hilarious to look at since the phone will go from 100 to 93 then drop knew by one to 80 then it drops to 47 and with a half hour of that its at fifteen and as soon as the low battery indicator comes on I hit ok and a minute later its dead.
Well hopefully problem solved ordered a two battery combo with wall charger. 3500mah

Dead like your phone shuts off? Or the phone % tells you its dead? My extended battery has never read correctly, right now its shows 1% at 3.997v thats most of a charge yet

I'm having some problems to. Today was the first day I really kept track of how fast my battery drained itself and my God, I feel like my phone should win an award for most juice lost in 4 hours.
I downloaded Easy Battery Saver from the market and started to use a battery widget to monitor my battey life and it honestly seems like the app is working. Give it a try and see how you like it.

I was under the impression that both the X and the X2 used the same battery (BH5X).
If I am wrong, someone please correct me...
They use the same battery. Have you tried calibrating? Charge to 100% then go to spare parts> battery info> then battery voltage. What is it?
Tapin' the Talk on the xSquared
What frequency do you have your email to check. If you have your email on push then the battery will die a lot faster also. I can kill my battery in 4 hours with non stop use. Orbit baby's it 15 he's has been my best. And yea the x and x2 use same battery my spare is from my Droid x and they are the same part number.
Thanks a lot for all the help guys I got the extended battery which helped a little. But I sold the phone already. Couldn't handle being so restricted.

Really doesn't look like you have a problem at all. Your battery discharge rate seems pretty flat which to me indicates you're using juice slowly as opposed to what would result in a steeper decline.
Keep in mind that your screen will almost always be the biggest consumer of power and don't let the 77% scare you. That's a percentage against all other services running.
Give it a day or two during "normal use" - make sure you're past the point of spending a bunch of time thumbing through screens doing setup and tweaking and see how it reacts.

Everyone looks at the battery stats and freaks when they see that the first time, just keep in mind its not using 78% of your battery it USED 78% of the battery that has already drained. Which by looking at your screen shot means it used 78% of the 20% that drained. I'm guessing you didnt use your phone much for music or any background tasks so the screen being on for texting or random browsing is going to show a huge disparity between #1 battery user(screen) and #2.

Battery Life is awesome

Just had to post this factoid. I've had the DNA for about 2 weeks and i honestly can't believe the battery life. It is just getting sick battery life. I've had alot of smartphones over the years, but this one is by far the best in battery life. My last phone, droid razr, was on juice defender and barely made it through a day without charging and minimal use.
An example day like yesterday is typical:
unplugged at 7am fully charged. Bluetooth streaming music for an hour ride to work, 4 hours of music streaming during work along with 30 min of gaming (lunch). Streaming music all the way back home - 74% At home, 1 hour of tasker, 30 mins of various email and facebook. Result - 59%. No charging overnight, on it's 7am alarm, it is at 53%.
It will go 2 full days of use without charging. How did they do that? The battery is barely bigger than my dual core RAZR on a much smaller more efficient 4'3" screen. I've always had SuperAmoled phones like the galaxy S3, RAZR, etc.. I thought superamoled was more efficient.
I saw the XDA review a couple days ago and another online review a month ago. In both cases, the reviewers were also a bit perplexed about the great battery life. It wasn't just good, it was unusually GREAT.
That's good to hear.. mind to post some screen shots? Particularly the screen on time.
If I didn't live in a signal black hole I would easily get 2 days out of mine...

What's a good app to show this breakdown?
I agree 100% Compared to my thunderbolt (had it until a few weeks back, was almost 2 years old) which could not really make it through the entire day with regular usage, the DNA usually ends up at around 50% (at least from looking at the battery symbol, I've not bothered to look at the actual percent) with regular usage. I live a few miles away from a tower, so not sure if that affects battery life significantly, definitely works well though. Combined with the wireless charging setup (was not planning on getting it initially, but had ended up selling back the thunderbolt + had some sort of work discount, so it had ended up only being around $11) battery life is the least of my concerns at the moment
I feel the same way. I had a TB with rezound battery and SoaB 1.4 and it drained so fast. My DNA seems to last forever. It's such a relief to not have to have a charger around if I'm going to be gone for more than 6 hours.

Any thoughts as to why it gets so amazing battery life? On paper a quad core 5" screen with just a 2020mh battery should barely make it through the day. The nexus 4 surely doesn't get this life on a similar chip with smaller screen (i have one).

I totally agree with the above comments. I was scared by the prerelease estimates of the battery. Using it daily has proven the opposite. Some times I look at my phone at the end of the day and worry about the battery not fully cycling. There is to much charge left to start charging. Hopefully new batteries don't have that issue. In addition these awesome developers truly maximize the capabilities of this device. And they never seem to quit.

Check battery usage at the end of the day and disable any apps running services you're not using. Mine was using Maps a lot for some reason so I disabled it in Titanium. There were a few other apps with notifications that I turned off as well and now I'm still at around 70% around 11PM after being off the charger since 8AM with moderate usage.
Just installed GSAM yesterday.
Ran the phone a little harder than normal, I use juice defender, but set it to FORCE ENABLE data, which offsets it's use. To give an example, typically on Juice defender on idle, it uses about 1% an hour. So overnight, i would expect less than 8% drop, but these last few days, it was more like 15%.
Had the phone on for 34 hours on battery and it still at 24% battery. (just plugged it in to get the screenshots).
