Anyone using scummvm? I got Curse of Monkey Island running, but I can't figure out how to get the keyboard to pop up or how to access my inventory.
According the site below, I should be able to access it by holding down the "menu" key, but that brings up the quick search feature.
http://sites.google.com/site/scummvmandroid/faq#TOC-What-are-the-controls-
Anyone have any ideas?
Scummvm isn't supported on android 2.0 and higher, so a lot of it might not work.
Holding the menu key used to bring up the keyboard on my G1 & Mytouch, I haven't found another shortcut yet on the vibrant.

Thanks. It's not officially supported, but there is an unofficial build that works for 2.x. That's how I got it up and running on the Vibrant. I suppose I will have to wait for the official release later in the year or hope the unofficial version gets tweaked to work on the Vibrant.
Why is there only in the Android versions from the Nexus a voice dialing possibility? I like the mdeejay build, but again no voicedialing. The same problem with de original windows mobile HD2. I know, that you can use google voice search, but this mostly doesn't work with my Jabra. I still have to push buttons on the device itself, instead of REAL handsfree (pushing the button on m Jabra). Could someone please develop an app, that does the same in the HTC android, or is there already a working solution?
are you seriously complaining
Why is there only in the Android versions from the Nexus a voice dialing possibility....
............there are other build besides nexus....
I know, that you can use google voice search, but this mostly doesn't work with my Jabra....
.............get in a long line of people wanting this....

once again are you serious
Yes, of course I am serious. It's a mobile phone, so I should be able to use my phone handsfree. What's strange about that?
Nothing you are asking for stuff that alt of people want did you read anything about what works and what doesn't when you start asking and making threads requesting things is like a slap in the face to the devs who already know what's wrong just be happy with what's is working, or at the last post in the right section, like the general section..or post in the thread of the build your using

The question was not unreasonable. Was I complaining? I have searched all the forum, but nowhere I found a post about a good working handsfree feature. If there is anyone, who is not taking a forum-member serious, than it's you, thatruth132. If you don't have an answer, don't react. Everyone is making comments on builds, and that is what this forum all about. And say yourself, a basic handsfree-dialing possibility should be on a mobile phone. I was not slapping anyone's face.
I finally found a build, dat has the feature: mattc Leo + Froyo w/Sense 1.7][Kernel: mattc 2.6.32.9 #4, and I am very happy with it. All works fine!
And to all the other developers: I admire all your work, and please go on. Again thank you!
I just switched from Tmobile (MyTouch 3G Slide) to the Verizon Thunderbolt.
I REALLY REALLY miss the Hand-Free (Texting) ability from the MyTouch...
Is there anyways to get the Hand-Free ported from the MyTouch to the Thunderbolt?
(I tried Vingo, I don't like its. And it didn't seem to Read Incoming SMS)
Just download handcent SMS.

Its not just the lack of HandsFree Texting on the Thunderbolt.. Its the Call Announcing through Bluetooth, and other features within the HandFree app on the myTouch...
I don't want a Third-Party Messaging app, when the one within Android works just fine.

Obviously it doesn't work just fine or you wouldn't be asking about it, lol.

Well Maybe you should be laughing at yourself for being douchie, because the HANDS-FREE Feature from the MyTouch is not built into the SMS App. Its a whole different app. If I'm not mistaken its apart of the Genius Button; Because its Activated by pressing the G-Button>Menu>Hand-Free
So think, then type, then think again before hitting POST
→ Me laughing at myself.
The feature you wanted was specifically built/integrated for the phone in question (through proprietary means) and was not built by HTC. That is why it's not in every HTC phone and why you won't have it on the Thunderbolt without additional software you claim you can't stand.
"Genius" is a custom voice command and text-to-speech system powered by Dragon Dictation technologies. The button replaces, and is in the location of, the Search button previously on the myTouch 3G.

Properly built third party software is as good as anything that comes on the phone or better and has the same means/access to build their apps as the OEM.
I've been using Voice Control Full and I think you might like it. Check it out from your Android phone:

*Note: Tap the Market icon in the Complete action screen that appears after you tap the link above.
Try the free version first.
really cool developer

Wow. And we wonder why everyone eryone is leaving xda... You ask for an app that does what your last phone does, someone suggests a viable alternative w and you call him a douche.
I guess welcome to the Thunderbolt forums... :-(

Yeah, I mean I don't understand what the OP wants and thus is a pretty useless thread. He knows our phone lacks a certain feature that he seems pretty passionate about having, but yet says the SMS on the phone works fine and does not want a third party alternative (despite the feature on his old phone technically being a third party feature, just one that came with it and porting it would be the same as installing something in the market).
I would recommend using a keyboard that has voice control in it like swype (and there's some others), but I wouldn't to look too "douchie" by recommending third party apps to the OP.
Apparently No one seems to get the Idea here.
I don't want a second SMS Application such as Handset. I never asked for that.
I ASKED FOR the TEXT TO SPEECH application that is built into the MyTouch 3G Slide.
the HandsFree app from the MyTouch 3G support Voice Texting, Voice Calling, etc. When a new SMS Message arrive, the phone Announces the sender, and asked if I would like to read no, or later. Then after the application reads the TEXT, it give the option to REPLY, which can then be done through voice... So Never do you have to touch the phone while driving.
The appication from the MyTouch that handles all that has been the best HandFree application I've seen yet. And I've had nothing but Android phones since the Original G1.
I asked for that one application, because I figured with all the smart people on this site, they might have been able to extract it from the MyTouch at some point. The CM7 for the MyTouch has it. I've tried to look within the zip for the application (apk) that might be responsible for the HANDFREE app, but have yet to locate it.
So in the end, If I wanted to try one of the 30000000000 other SMS/Text Apps out there I would have asked for it. And technically I orginally never asked for a SMS Application. I asked for a HandFree (Speak-to-text, and vis versa)
Well here's my stab at it. Voice Control is proprietary software by Nuance (Dragon Dictation Technologies) meaning even if we did find the apk or were able to port it, it would be considered warez which is against the rules of XDA. All apps by Nuance are paid apps.
Nuance Voice Control Webpage: http://www.press-and-speak.com/PressAndSpeak/2338
Nuance and T-Mobile had an exclusive agreement to implement this software on the myTouch 3G/4G. I'm sure later on other devices will be supported. The only download they have for Android is the flexT9 keyboard for $4.99 . They seem to have all their apps available to the iPhone however.
However when I asked about alternatives, someone recommended Vlingo Virtual Assistant for reading SMS in the Android Market. Not sure if it has the same exact features as Voice Control, however its a close alternative.
EDIT: nevermind noticed you said you tried Vlingo. My bad
Edit 2: I know you said you did not want alternatives but Drivesafe.ly can read txts to you and the pro version let's you respond. I really don't think there are free alternatives for a fully featured app other than Vlingo.

Actually Vlingo does read incoming text messages. The feature is Safe Reader. Also has voice dialing and texting.
Oh and p.s. no need to be a **** to people offering assistance.

Does anybody know of an app or hack/mod that gives total voice control for people of low vision/blind?
I'm trying to find such a thing for a friend who wants to get an android tablet but this seems to be the biggest drawback- no apps that do this. I have found some that mainly do voice and texting but nothing to the extent of total voice control.
Now by voice control I mean something that can be activated by a short press or double press of the power button or volume keys etc.
Please no smart ass remarks. Regardless of a persons ability to see or not, they should be able to use a device if they so choose.
Thanks for any help in advance.

if u are asking for a powerful siri alternative for android, there is no such thing. To be honest I'm not sure even siri would be powerful enough to do everything u are asking. Sorry
There is nothing like that for Android.
Thanks guys, appreciate your time in looking

Hello friends, I am Naveen Naushad, an indie Android developer from India. I developed this app for G3, with which you can change the Volume button launch apps when the phone is locked, that too without root access.
A user tested it on T-Mobile G4 and confirmed it is working correctly. You will be able to modify the Volume Up action to toggle flashlight, launch a different app (instead of QuickMemo+) or even open a custom launcher shortcut. Unfortunately Volume Down cannot be changed as LG hardcoded it to launch camera, starting from Lollipop. Most people are ok with that as they need to change QuickMemo+ only.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.apptuners.keyplusapp
Requirements:
Stock LG ROM (or ROMS based on it)
QuickMemo installed and working properly
Not compatible with official flip case
Request:
If you like the app, please rate, review and +1 it at Google Play Store. That will increase the visibility of the app tremendously.

I haven't ever undestood why the mobile-phone producers haven't included flashlight as a button, since the old nokia phones, so thanks for this!
Someone please post the quick memo apk file....

I am not rooted so I cannot extract the APK. Moreover there is a chance that the APK for G4 might be different from G3, so it is best you get it from a G4 user himself.
By the way, if you are running stock LG ROM, there is an app called Updater, from which you can install QuickMemo.
