Just wondering if anyone else if having issues with maintaining high resolution contact photos? I've uninstalled facebook, which was changing the photos and then selected one from my gallery. The photo is nice and sharp until I make a call. After that, it's super pixelated and grainy.
Any solutions to fix this? It's pretty annoying. Thanks!
I don't know if that is the solution you are looking for but you might want to try Full Screen CallerID from the market...

I've always had that problem with HTC Sense...it's because it increases the size of the image and so it gets pixelated. I've found that all of my contacts that I sync with my corporate Exchange account do not have this problem. But I've added all of those pics to the contact in my Outlook, not on the phone. All of the ones from my Google account have this problem. I guess it's just something we have to deal with...one of the annoyances of Sense.
Hey
What the title says. I just can't get syncmypix to login via facebook.
I am using Achotjan v03 rom and it doesn't have facebook sync. Now, I think after using the fb data fix and life.contacts both, I am ended up with some REALLY REALLY ugly pictures for my contacts. They don't show up in the phonebook but they show up in SMS and when calling. So, I thought maybe I can use syncmypix to fetch nice high res images. Wrong. Syncmypix doesn't even start.
Somebody please drag me out of this hell.
I do not want to see an ugly low res image of my friend whenever I call him and have to put it against my face.
Thank you.
try resyncing Google contacts?

Hi,
Basically on ginger bread, when I sync my fb contacts and contacts, the contacts picture changes to the persons profile pic from facebook but ICS, this isn't the case? The default pic is always used.
How can I change this?

Same problem here in ics :/
I Solved this by download an app called "facebook contact-sync" free from play store. does the job.
There was a whine about data-privacy i think, so feature taken out *i could be wrong*

Hi everybody,
Previously, I had an HTC Desire HD and when I installed the FB application, all my contacts got synced and the ones without photo started to have the FB photo.
Now on my SG3, just for a few of them appeared the FB photo, however, ALL of them are synced with facebook. I tried to enter on the profile of the person already, restarted the phone, sync, sync all contacts, but some of them just doesn't get the photo (and the name on FB is the same of the contact).
Does any one knows why that happens?
Nobody else with that problem?
Does the contacts of everybody always get the correct pictures from facebook? Or you guys don't use this feature?
Haxsync from Google play does that for you.
Yes, I looked that other applications can do that.
But I wonder if my Galaxy S3 has a problem on it. Because with my HTC DHD it used to work 100%.
Funny, everyone on mine since flawlessly. Only annoyance was when I ticked 'sync with existing contacts ' it synced my friends list with all their email addresses. Just tick display those with phone numbers and it's sorted but it's not perfect at any rate

HTC DHD was in Gingerbread version and facebook official app work pretty well, but devices with Ice Cream sandwich have got lot of problem with official facebook application, one way in order to resolve problem is download from the market a 3rd part applicazion like FriendCaster, it work well with 4.0.x android and also with my nexus one with 4.0.x custom rom =)
I'm not sure if this is what you mean but mine was showing old contact Facebook pictures with the little F in the corner. I had to open each contact, press connections and add the Facebook account. It's been fine since.

Haxsync also doesnt work for me.
The official facebook app for android has really bad syncing, use friendcaster, also has option to save high res pics for contacts.
I do have the same problem. No facebook app, just the sync with facebook option in the contacts account settings. Only a few facebook friends got their profile pictures displayed in contacts.
Maybe something to do with their privacy settings?
I had this too. It's the Facebook app sync feature being ****. Open Facebook and go to your contacts in there and it will refresh their pics and that in turns refreshes your contacts.

Yeah I bought Haxsync, such a waste of money. Are there any 3rd party apps that sync phone numbers from facebook?
HaxSync is mainly for AOSP based ROMs like CM9 and AOKP. Works perfectly on those and loads excellent high quality photos. It doesn't work with Sense 4 ICS devices like the HTC One series. I don't know if it works with TouchWiz ROMs. It'll work perfectly on any ROM with the vanilla Android UI and People app.
HTC devices have Facebook for HTC Sense, which is integrated with the Facebook app. When you sign into the Facebook app, Facebook for HTC Sense links your contacts and downloads reasonably okay quality pictures for them, and also syncs their status, photos and all that. No idea if TouchWiz has a similar feature, but maybe that's why you're not having the same experience you had with HTC Facebook sync.
Though with any ROM, just signing into the Facebook and choosing 'sync all contacts' or 'sync existing contacts' will download profile pictures for the contacts that it can sync, especially if the name matches exactly or you have added email addresses for your contacts. That's the reason only a few contacts got their pictures synced, because maybe they were under a different name than their Facebook name. But in my opinion the Facebook sync is crap, because the pictures it downloads look like 8-bit graphics.

Could Facebook's time line pictures be the problem? instead of people having portrait sized photos, they now have massive landscape pictures?
just a thought
I don't think so, because the Facebook app doesn't sync the cover photo. It syncs the little square profile picture photo, so it won't be any different from before because of the timeline.

Search HD contact photos in the play store, fixes this issue. Only thing I've noticed though or maybe it's just in general, when using this app for a contact photo and if that contact is linked to a facebook account, u don't see their updates when on a call. No biggie but just something I noticed when u don't use a facebook linked contact and change their photo. This app does work great though to have any photo u choose to be shrunk to the right size and HD quality. Just have to follow the directions of the app and it works great for me at least. If u find a better solution please let me know, thanks.
one weird issue i've faced is if my contact is linked to whatsapp, i have the option to choose the whatsapp photo, however, it never shows up as the contact photo...
I can still see the pic from within whatsapp, but that's about it.. any ideas here?
