Hi. I currently have a Uk O2 xda2 on version 1.72.181. wm2003
I would like to upgrade my device to the best & latest version suited for it.
Whilst experienced with computers in general, the whole area of rom's extended rom's, cooked rom's and radio stacks is new to me.
Can someone make a recommendation as to which rom I need, where I can find it, and exactly how to go about the upgrade. Also I would be very grateful I you could tell me what tools I will need.
Also is it possible to install wm2005?
upgrading
hey ryanxda2,
most people are having this upgrading problem!
but i have windows mobile 2005 and it is a great rom no matter what people say.
if you want to cheak things out the topic that started this wm2005 search is: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=18584&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0
but if you want wm2005 and the latest leaked version of activesync 4.0 i have an upload site: http://www.freewebs.com/doglover7337/wm2005.rar
the file is commpressed in a rar format and you will need "winrar" a great commpression program for free http://www.rarlab.com/download.htm
inorder to install wm2005 on to your ppc you need to sync your ppc with your computer and then run the file called:"HimaUpgradeUt.exe"
this program should autodetect your device and upgrade its rom. after the rom upgrade you need to hard reste your device, that is a little diffrent in wm2005:
you need to hold down power+camera+record buttons and press the reset button then let go, a menu should pop up, then go down to the last one and select yes (this can be done using the camera and the record buttons) after that press the scroll button hard and it should reset your device but before you connect your ppc to your computer you need to install activesync 4.0 because it has the driver for the new wm2005, after thats all done you should be set to explore all of the new rom and activesync!
There are some things I have to tell you about first:
this rom is in its alpha stage, but it is the most stable rom in alpha stage i have seen
also i have to tell you that sms ans mms are not there but you can still receive them, we are working on getting the mms and sms functions in the new rom
I recomend that you atleast try this new rom, if you don't like it you can always go back to you old one or 2003se, who knows you might love it and stay with this new rom (i did)
good luck and have fun!
hello,
I have a TSM500 (is the Telefonica name of the HTC, XDAII...)
Do you think that everything it is working now it will work:
TTN 3.07 (with a serial port connected TTN GPS device)
Phone (Movistar provide in Spain the mobile-phone operation)
SMS (I'm not using MMS...)
Microsoft OutLook (Sync with PC and Exchage Server under a VPN)
I have spent a lot of hours configuring and make it all work together and I have read wm2005 is slower and unstable...
Destroyer you have recomended to install it... For me, the only reason is to use in better conditions the BT stack (now, after upgrading ROM, EXT-ROM adn RADIO I got a non usable BT situation, that force me a hard reset and re-install all the programs again to become at the start point situation.
Do I get this improved BT functonallity: BT-Phone and system Audio, BT-Sync, BT-Ethernet access?
Thankyou
Best WM2003SE upgrade for UK 02 xda II
Thanks for that, I appreciate the response, and will download wm2005, i'll try wm2005 once I get a non essential unit to try it on. In the meantime, I'll be looking for advice & instructions on the best wm2003 se upgrade for my unit, what I need to consider etc etc.
Does anyone one have any suggestions on this?
I tried installing wm2003se yesterday. It wasn't too painful, and the UI looked a bit nicer, but there were two problems which I faced. Fisrstly, phone calls would default to the speaker phone whenever you made or answered them. Secondly, when putting it on standby, you couldn't wake the device from standby. A soft reset was required to get the device usable again.
I followed this thread here (gave up after reading about 20 pages of it). But it appears that I wasn't the only one who had those problems. I don't think they got as far as a solution either.
Wm2003se
Thanks Timmeh, I'll have alook at that thread now.
Just so that I've got it straight what version of each part should I be looking to install, and can I obtain them all in that thread?
I had tried an upgrade about 2 months ago which went onto my device ok, but some auto script in config file, kept popping up a dialog box, which I couldn't close, so I couldn't move to other functions!
Thx
When I tryed the upgrade, I didnt change the extended ROM, so when it went through installing everything, it all came up with "This program may not display properly...", which isn't a problem in itself. The problem comes from not being able to press the button to close the dialog, but you can press on the nav key, which works a treat. (The reason for this is in the config.txt file in the extended ROM, which tells the phone what order to run things, such as installing cab's, after a hard reset. A file called TPdisable.exe is run before installing everying else, which disables the touch pad.)
There are 2 options when upgrading from that link in the forum. One was posted by DC, and all you have to do is unzip it and run the upgrade exec (while ya phone is in the cradle). The other was posted by a mistery person, which is an exe installer.
DC's does not include an extended ROM (all the other apps that get installed with windows, like camera drivers), so using that will just use your existing exteneded ROM. The mistery mans file does have an extended rom included, however, I didnt use it, so I don't know if it's any good.
IMO, I would go with the mystery mans installer. His/hers is a slightly newer build of WM2003SE, and the extended ROM should work.
Before you do that though, it's worth getting hold of the existing ROM for your phone, so you can go back if you decide that you don't like it (as I did). You can download that from here, assuming that you have an XDA II and are on o2 uk, which your details would seem to suggest.
If you do it, let us know how it works out. I wouldn't mind maybe trying again, but as soon as I finish my dissertation, and have time to make a proper effort at my own custom extended ROM.
Thanks Timmeh, I'll give that a try now. I'll let you know how I get on

Finally a new wm6 rom from PDAmobiz!!!i cant wait to test it!!!THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!
Any change list/screenshot of this version?
I'm looking forward to seeing it.
does this rom have any of HTC Touch software bundled ?
Nope, no HTC Touch software in this new version, not even audio manager. No phonepad input and windows live neither. Quite clean rom but comes with scenarios (profiles) and a few tweak apps e.g. for GPRS. There are also keyboard input for Thai. Phone dialer is the same as that in smart1.3.
What's new?
I can't say for this is the first fantastic mobiz rom I have installed
I've just tried it, all is ok, wifi, sms ... but same problem for car charging (need reset before, and sometime it dont work, for this reason i return to wm5)
I've tried HTC homeplug :
So first i've installed BS at 243MHz, htc homeplug and htc audio manager, all is ok it works but ... so slowly ! the device start after +/-3 minutes ! when i click on start menu, it need 2/3s to go, i don't understand why maybe htc prog are too heavy for S200 ?
PLEASE DONT ISNTALL Htc Homeplug in ... THIS APP REALLY SLOW OURS PROPHET'S (i just have tried homeplugin with fantastic b3, i dont have test it with other roms)

HARD RESET YOUR PHONE!
hi
can someone upload this rom to rapid?i got some problems with sharebig...thank you in advance and thank you also for the good work...keep goin'
No problem with HTC Home Plug for me (PDAVIET 4.0.0.0.3) but only it, cause when I install commmanager or the Phone Pad, it lag my phone :/
For the audio manager you don't need to install it, download the OEM package, extract on your SD and execute audiomanager.exe, it's more rapid than in Windows folder.
You're right, after HR all is ok thanks For audio manager, i did not keep on my SD cause it don't work on wm5 (great solution xvx45, tks)
Why car charging have same problems on all roms ? I want to keep this one
Charging problem
Hi, I am tested 2.0b3 for 21hrs, but some times charging battery dont work, and i Spb Mobile Shell Backlight function not work.
Back to PDAViet 4.0.0.3
Cheers
Sorry for my eng. lang, I am just a boy from Slovakia.
No Windows Live
This version is as claimed very fast and stable. Comes with many programs.
The problem I found is after I installed Windows Live, VOIP and other programs it blogs down just like other WM6 ROM's. The remained Storage memory is also less than 4.0.0.0.3.
What I can say about this ROM is fast and stable, I wish I know what software I installed caused the slowness.
This Rom is fast as before and has the useful tools but i don´t really see differences after restoring the backup of my personal setting of beta rc2.
What is annoying me ist that the original bootlogo is overwritten by HTC/PDAmobiz Logo without notifying. That might void my warranty if something goes out of order and i need to reflash the original provider´s ROM. Reflash of the original O2 bootlogo is then needed, too if possible.
I m currently using this rom..
I think it's perfect
This rom comes with misc. applications installed in Extended Rom ,, i'm too lazy to install misc. application myself ( like what I have to do with other roms )
i think next version are funny ... possible htc touch apps are included ... i hope so :-> mobiz roms works fast and stabil.
more than the "touch" look...
pls wait for what we called "Fantastic b4 "
b4 is not from "beta version 4"... it's the name of some one.
btw, it's much faster than b3.... and more stable than any past versions.
Hi All,
Tried to read all the posting about WM6 ROM from any version for prophet and i have some conclusion about this :
- All the Prophet in WM5 is having minor problem but when using WM6 some mayor bugs comes up.
- Most the thread discussing about WIfi problem, BT problem, SDCard problem
- Some applications sometimes make the prophet boot screen freeze.
- After few days, the flashing ROM is going unstable such as : alignscreen, no working button, glitch sound from the speaker etc.
- Battery drain from some ROM version is very fast and the indicator indicate the mistaken bar.
- The included application (not OEM application) cannot be upgraded because if you upgrade the application then you want to uninstall, the problem will occured since the registry still in the ROM and sometimes make the prophet freeze and need to hard reset.
Also beside some bugs in the WM6 ROM,there are some advantages such as : better view screen and better application performance.
Hope this will help you who want to upgrade to WM6 from WM5.
Thanks
I've had issues with device freezing up at boot up, once it required a hard reset. Also I've been unable to download a medical program mobile micromedex as I get a missing memory card error. Otherwise so far so good including battery life.

I agree, but keep in mind that the "base"WM5 was officially written for the Prophet, the WM6 is taken from other devices. This makes it much harder for the cooks to get a full picture of the different drivers, as those files take care for the hardware.
So, most problems don't origin in WM6, but in the differences between the devices.
But again, I agree that WM6 on a Prophet isn't 100% stable yet.
Bought a T mobile HD2 (unlocked) second hand with energy rom installed.
Got it home & I find that the wifi & bluetooth are not working.
It picks up the network signal fine & the data connection is working fine.
But the wifi turns on & will not pick up anything.
The bluetooth it seems does not discover & is not discoverable.
I suspected it may be somthing to do with the rom so I loaded up a stock T mobile rom with the same results.
I have updated the radio with the same results.
The phone has Hspl loaded & I am wondering if I could do a complete cleanout of everything including Hspl & reload a completly vanilla stock Rom would that help.
I have fiddled with all the settings for both wifi & bluetooth & still no results.
At this point I need help!!!!
Run a task 29 then the stock rom of your choice, check the radio installed is compatable with the rom, hard reboot after completing the rom flash (its a good idea to do that first as well in case you don't need to run a 29 or flash)

I've the same problem ...I suppose.
I used a Touch Pro in the last two years and Energy ROMs since September 2009. I never had problems with Wi-Fi an Bluetooth.
Recently I bought a HD2 and tried Bloutooth and Wi-Fi only after 1 week.
So, both the Touch Pro and the HD2 got the same ROM (Energy ROM) flashed , each by its own version, but two days ago I discovered WiFi not working (DISCOVERED, because I never tried it before)
The problem seems an extremely poor signal seen on the on screen meter, only if I'm close to the router (1-2 meters!) I couldn't establish a real connection, because the HD2 loss the signal every 30-40 seconds.
Bothered about this I tried with Touch Pro: the result is the same!
So I concluded: "It's the ROM!". Strange (never had problems with Energy ROMs) but possible. I flashed the stock ROM on the HD2: the issue remains. So I thought about the RADIO, and I flashed the RADIO 2.12.50.02 (compatible with ROM). The issue is still here.
I used Task 29 before another flash, then I tried an Artemis ROM with RADIO 2.12.50.02... nothing changed. (note that I tried almost every different settings about Wi-Fi,from BsB tostandard enhance settings)
Last (related?) issue: when I try a hard reset, the progress bar starts to "move" but after 3-4 seconds (about a third of the bar) the bar disappears and I got the "Press VolUp button" message. Then the phone has the first boot... but I wonder if the HR is complete, because it seems yes.
Finally I came to this thread and... another doubt: what about BT?
I tried both the Touch Pro and the HD2 Bluetooths but they can't connect or recognize each other (every "Find" and "Visible" options activated)
I didn't try yet with Touch Pro (flash etc.) but I am very bothered and dubious about it.
Cooked ROM Energy Leo 1 Aug
OS version 5.2.23673
Radio 2.12.50.02
Operatore: H3G ITA

WIFI & Bluetooth
Thus far I have run task 29
Reinstalled a stock T-mobile rom
But no luck wifi & bluetooth still not working properly.
Decided to go right back to the very beginning & uninstalled HSPL by loading the stock Rom from the SD card
Stock rom would not upload & i am getting the SPL 1.42.0000 Screen plus "Upgrade Rom code error please try again"
The question I have now is which is the proper stock Rom for this T mobile HD2 & how do I find that out?

Sorry I can't help about this.
We are alone in this thread!
wifi & bluetooth
I think your right.
Ah well, at least I have a very expensive doorstop!
You are not alone. I am experiencing the exact same problem and have yet to find an answer.
Task 29 didn't help and reflashing the radio the traditional way (even with the stock rom) doesn't seem to overwrite whatever is causing this problem.
Would uninstalling the hspl do anything? I am running out of ideas.
Hi all, I have a strange problem during the calls.
The call start normally but then a buzz-noise starts, at this point I cannot ear anymore the other person. I can end the call, but still the noise is there. The phone doesn't seem blocked. The buzz is unstoppable until I reset the phone and restart. This problem happens quite often and so my phone is quite unusable...
I have these versions:
build: 21876.5.0.72
software: 5005.0001.76
SP-00
RIL 1.0
radio: 5001.0001.76
If someone has the same problem or know how to solve, I will appreciate the help.
Thanks

Try a custom rom. Flash it with better radio roms that are available on this forum. If you haven't flashed your phone before, please read the instructions in the TG01 Rom section's sticky carefully. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=654674
I had similar problem with Orange rom and after flash, I have never had any so called call issues.

yes I already flashed it the same day I bought it. It was with the french Orange version, so I changed to the uk Orange version. I was thinking to try a custom rom but I am afraid to have then more instability respect to the official one.
I can say that the quality of the call when there is not the strange buzz-noise is good.
What type of ROM can you suggest? I mean a stable and robust one.
Thanks
Ivan
If you want to stick to just a neat rom with most programs removed, so that you can customize by adding cabs yourself - go for FFBoy's or miRoM
If you want something sense based - Aragon's rom or StonRom.
If you want to be adventurous and try something different - StonRom's maker Leeston, has put out couple of roms which are not very stable, but usable. You can also try miRom's hybrid rom which has spb shell, sense etc all mixed up.
There are plenty of sense roms out there by Aragon, FFboy, miRom, Leeston that I have used and I like.
I personally don't find any of the sense roms stable as there is an issue with HTC messaging and sometimes wireless. I haven't seen any solution to HTC messaging till date. Hence I have stopped using them.
I like Leeston's roms that are not Sense based. But they are being tweaked by Leeston to make them better, so you might not call them 'stable' just yet.
I am currently using miRom's clean stock rom. I had plenty of space so I have installed about 23 cabs on it to customize by my needs - even after that it's fast, stable, no-freeze, no hard resets needed, plenty of available memory and very usable.

Good luck mate! I hope it works out well for you.
It's real annoying when phones stop working as phone but more like iPhone!
Also, through experience radio 1600/1700 work better. But depends on network provider. For me 1600 is better than 1700.

I was thinking to have solved the problem, but not. I installed both the mirom4 and the mirom8 but the same call problem (both with radio 1700). The mirom8 is perfect, but I cannot use the phone. I first buyed this phone with the french language and win 6.5.0 so I tryed to install back an official toshiba rom with the french language and it works . The phone works. With the official english version it doesn't work. The radio of this version is the 5001.0201.76 and the build of the system is 21876.5.0.72 exactly as the english version but only the radio is different.
Could someone explain me why it works only with the french operating system?
An other test! I installed the spb shell 3.5.5 on the french operating system and the phone makes the same problem....
Deinstalling it, and only after an hard reset the phone works again.
Why the hard reset is necessary, what are the components of the spb shell that can cause the problem?
At this point I believe it is a software problem...
To describe better the problem I saw that when the audio freeze during the conversation, if I try to modify the volume settings the window with the volumes appears but I can see only the system volume while the phone volume is a black empty space. The phone is responsive for a while, then it crash completely and only after a soft reset it restars.
It is a big big problem

When you say miROM8 is perfect but you cannot use the phone - does it mean, it doesn't flash properly or it keeps freezing? or does it only have call issues? I remember miROM talking somewhere about different language issues in his posts, I will try and dig into it. I am sure there is some sort of solution for language issues with roms and SPB Shell too - just hang in there.
I am presuming it's an radio issue now. But there is a way to change radios irrespective of what rom you install. its here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=699764

With Mirom8 the system is fast and stable and the issue of the call that freeze happens only after some minutes (2-3 minutes). With mirom4 instead the problem is quite simultaneus at the start of the call (less than one minute). Mhmm I am not sure if it is a radio issue. If it is a radio issue, why the french version stopped to work when I installed the spb shell? Does the spb shell modify the radio files?? I was more thinking to a windows problem. But I am completely ignorant about this system and how it works.
I could try the italian radio, but I am starting to be afraid that I will never find a stable solutuion. I am thinking it is a software problem, but I cannot exclude an hardware failure of my system.
Thanks

With Mirom8 the system is fast and stable and the issue of the call that freeze happens only after some minutes (2-3 minutes). With mirom4 instead the problem is quite simultaneus at the start of the call (less than one minute). Mhmm I am not sure if it is a radio issue. If it is a radio issue, why the french version stopped to work when I installed the spb shell? Does the spb shell modify the radio files?? I was more thinking to a windows problem. But I am completely ignorant about this system and how it works.

hello Ivan,
load my RADIO changing Kitchen. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=823706
With this you can extract the FRENCH Radio and combine with another ROM, as miROM8.
hope it helps, miro

I don't think SPB will have any effect on radios. Try Miro's solution, it will work. Did you see if your SPB version has got correct language? There is some sort of registry edit too, regarding SPB shell - it comes in many languages. However, let's not go into reg edit just yet, if Miro's solution will solve it for you.
Also one important thing - are you flashing the rom correctly? i.e. hard reset after the flash by holding volume up + camera + power? It makes a huge difference by doing so. If it doesn't work, try flashing stock rom, then hard reset, then miROM8 then hard reset, then spb shell and then soft reset - this might solve if it's silly bug!
Good luck

Hi guys I quoted only one answer but I thanks all of you. So I think that your suggestions are good. I must try to create a rom with the radio that presumably could work with the rest that I like. I made the hard reset every time I flashed a new rom. So what I can do is to make the hybrid rom and then flash it on the phone after the stock rom making an hard reset every time.
Ok I will try, I like this little piece of tecnology
Hi all, so an update to the situation. I tried to install the radio 5001.0300.76 on the mirom8, but after the installation i choosed the spb shell as interface without trying a first call on the fresh installation.
I made a tentative after the installation of the spb shell and I was unable to make a call longer than 30 seconds.
So I used the rom 5001.0201.76 from the french rom in the mirom8. This time I tried to make a call without setting the spb shell as interface but using first the windows interface.
It worked!!! I was able to make a call!
Then I tryed to use the spb shell and the same problem! The call was freezing.
So I tried with the HTC interface and it is working!
I don't know if with the radio 5001.0300.76 could work. I think yes. But for the moment I will keep this version.
The only thing is that I prefer the spb shell and not the HTC but for now I am happy to have a working phone.
I am wondering, what is the cause of this failure? Is my phone buggy? I mean the hardware of my phone in theory is the same of yours, so why I am not able to run all the roms?

First of all, I am so glad you can now use your phone as a phone!
Secondly, I think it's something to do with bugs left from your installation.
I would even advice you another flash process : This one has ALWAYS worked for me, when I thought I had bugs that won't go with hard reset. I don't know if 'bugs left after hard reset' theory is true technically, but for me it works. Try the following:
Get the phone back up so that you don't have to look for contacts.
You can also get a program called - XDA_UC - it's brilliant piece of work. Put all your cabs for this program as instructed and you won't ever have to worry about installing cabs after flash - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6928610#post6928610
Once you are ready, hard reset your phone. Then get miROM4 http://www.miromworld.webs.com/ to flash on it. Hard reset etc after flash. Then install clean SPB SHELL on this miROM4 - it works like charm. If you want customization, use MSkip's Ultimate Elegance V2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5373943&postcount=1715
and you will never not love your phone. Just remember to edit the radio in miROM4 before you flash. I have got this on my phone and it works fast, stable, beautiful, accessible and fun!
Hope this helps.

I would also try to make my own rom
Here I found a lot of help
I am also interested in android on our phone. I saw that they are quite succeding in booting the kernel. I would also try this, becasue at work I am using linux and I am programming under linux.
Having linux on our phone could be very useful.
Thanks I will try the procedure you suggested!
Ciao

I am using Linux on my laptop at home too! I can't say how excited I am to use linux. I wish I could know more about linux, but I've just ditched Windows about 2 months back. So I am a very newbie with no idea to linux cmd line but only GUI. If you need tester for anything please let me know.

eh eh eh no no quiet! I am saying I would try the kernel that the guys in toshdroid are implementing now. I am using linux since more than 15 years. But using and programming under linux is a different thing than the ability to make reverse enginering on a complex device as our phone. It is a very complex job.
But I want try to boot the kernel that the toshdroid developers are testing
For now I am enjoing the working phone

After some days of work, I was quite happy, but today the same problem. I was on a call and suddelny the crash. No SPB shell, no other software installed. I will try as last tentative the procedure of flash different times with the master clear. If then I will have the same problem I will send back the phone. At this point I cannot exclude that my phone is buggy in the hardware
