Hey Guys
I just got my galaxy tab few days ago. I feel increasingly reliant on taskmanager widget to kill the apps, but the widget is big and chunky and takes a lot of space. Is there a way to change or reduce the size of task manager widget. Help will be appreciated thanks
no chance...but u can access task manager via app tray instead of using the widget.
You can use the shortcut to launch the task manager.
Touch and hold the home button for few seconds.
you dont need to kill apps, the operating system will close everything for you.. when your not using it
thanks for the help guys

I'm not sure if the Vibrant had the RAM Manager tab in the built in Task Manager before the 2.2 update (as I was not that observant before I updated) but I see it has it now and I'm wondering if there's an unofficial widget I can get that I can press for a level 1 or level 2 RAM clear that's similar to the Advanced Task Killer kill button widget. Like, just tap it and bam, level 1 or 2 RAM clear. Not like go into the program and then do it.
Ideas, anyone? If this doesn't exist, it really ought to because with 2.2, advanced task killer just don't do justice anymore.
I don't want to hear "but omg froyo can handle task managing now by itself. leave Brittany alone!"
I believe this is my first post. Woo!
launcher pro -shortcuts - or activity - link activity to froyo task killer ram/cleaner ? takes u right to clean ram screen still not one click kill but it works
Hi, so a long press on 'home' brings the last 6 apps used. It's so basic it's sad. Is there a way to replace this with a better task switcher? Yes I know how Android manages RAM. I do not want a task killer, but a task switcher that replaces the existing one.
Does that exist? Thank you!
Tried searching the Market?
Task Manager ?
Ok obviously this is frustrating, I think my question has merit and I get the rolling eyes smileys.
Yes I have searched the market. From the ones I tried (must have tried 5 or 6 of them) *not one* of these apps replaces the 'hold home for 2 seconds' behaviour. Not one.
Further more, a lot of them *do not work* on the SGS2. Perfect task switcher fails to render the screenshots for example, other freeze, other are plain broken - displaying all running processes including 'android system'.
What I'm looking for is something that replaces the 2 sec long press and display the most recent used apps.
Maybe try quickdesk.

LauncherPro has such a feature. You can set one of the dock buttons to "recent apps" and it'll fill your entire screen with your recent apps, not just 6.
does anyone know how to clear the recent apps so there is not a long list? is there anyone that I could shorten it to only show my last 3 apps?
thanks again

If you hold your Power button down a while, a list of options will come up. Select Power Off. This will power down your tablet. When you restart it the list will be cleared.
What type of things do you have on your recent list "sexfreak"?
there are things there that are adult oriented, I also dont like how it shows the last picture taken. I was hoping for something a little more slick then powering it off and on, like maybe shortening the list that it would display, or a "app" or link that would clear it out.

Just use one of the Task Manager apps then kill all the processes.
i use advance task killer, it free's the memory up but still leaves the "history " should I use a different task killer?
Developers can mark their apps to not show in recent apps list, but the list itself is only modifiable by android OS. So I think there is no a task killer/manager which can help you.
You can reboot tab or open as many app as needed to hide your problematic app from the lsit
So far Task manager will not clear your recent app list. Only solution I have found is rebooting the device.
Does anyone know where the data is stored? Would it be possible to navigate to the location of the file and clear it that way?

has anyone noticed that after you kill an app that it will start on its own? gmail, books, clock, browser, craigslist, google voice and others will start up after I "kill" them
Sometimes i forgot i left some apps running in the back ground.
and not all apps can hibernate, some of them cause wake locks.
so it will be nice if there's a widget that display how many apps are currently running.
the default touch widz has a widget called "active applications"
it works and get the job done, tapping on it launches the task manager, another good thing about it.
the problem is, why on earth is it a 2x1 widget?
its a real waste of screen real estate.
is there any widget out there in the market that is 1x1 and does the same function?
Closest thing I know to what you're looking for is this. Install System Tuner Pro from market (costs a few bucks. This might even be possible with the free/non-pro version). Once installed, you can put a shortcut to Task Manager on your homescreen which is a 1x1 icon.
From task manager you can show only non-system apps currently running, or you can include system apps & even kernel processes. Click on an app/process & you can kill it with one button press.
Hope this is kinda what you were looking for
Edit to add - This is possible with the free version, but you have to put up with annoying ads :-/

Hi,
I've tried a few programs that kill tasks but not a single app kills tasks definitive. Now i have two programs (Advanced task manager and TasKiller), ATM kills tasks but they come back... if i kill shazam, in 3 seconds is still in task list... TasKiller kills really good, but is not a practical app... Is there a program like ATM that when you click kill all, will kill like TasKiller?
Thanks
Killing task's isn't enough, you have to stop them from loading during startup, there's a program called autostarts and it does just that but its not free. Besides you really don't need a task killer for android.
you do know there is already a task killer in the galaxy sii? Keep holding down the home button and it will pop up.
And there are alot of apps that enable themselves, you should look into their settings to disable that...
