A serious problem with my device is that sound(phone ringing, music and everything is comming from earpiece instead of speaker) this makes impossible to hear the phone ringing, ive reset the phone to factory settings and reverted user apps still the same. I know the speaker is not faulty because when i restart phone it works for several minutes, the sound may come back without restarting if i kill all procesess.
I suspect the problem is with an applicaton installed but i have so many, can anyone advice how to find out what is causing the problem.
I have SGS2 with stock 2.3.4 fimware,
please...thank you in advance
Wanted help, but now i will return help.
The solution is to uninstall "Mobile Voip" application which was causing this issue
Damn application, took so much to find out whats causing this.

Hi, I've just got my new samsung i9100.
Mostly I'm happy with it. But sometimes it just can't play any sound, including ringtone, media sound and even voice during call. It usually happens after playing some music.
Furthermore, when I try to adjust sound volume in this situation, the phone responds very slowly and finally it crashes and auto-reboot.
I bought this i9100 in NL and just have upgraded the system to KE2 through samsung kies. Is this problem a general software bug or does my phone have some hareware problem?
I've tried some customized rom, and the problem still exists.
Factory reset and wipe ???
Followed by original rom and return to seller .

I've got the same problem. The phone sometimes suddenly stops playing sound. When I then adjust the volume it freezes (the volume indicator) and after several seconds it just reboots.
I am not sure what is causing this. Will check the log as soon as it happens again.
Edit:
I suspect it has something to do with access to the sound resources. Also, programs cannot save anything when this happens.
Probably one of the partitions (sdcard?) is unmounting or not getting (re)mounted after it was used over USB on a PC?
Hi everybody,
Found a problem on my SGS2:
Loss of phone ringtone when I have incoming call (it`s only vibrating).
Restart the device - the problem is gone for a while. Then I goes again.
The device not rooted.
Bought and using SGS2 from June. Did not have this problem from the beginning. It started 2 weeks ago when I started to use alternative dialing apps.
Used "Dialer one" - it woked good. Turned to "GO Contacts" - the problem started.
Turned back to "Dialer one" - but the problem remained.
Also using: GO Launcher, GO Sms and other alternative apps.
Maybe somebody had the same problem and knows how to fix it. Asking for advice.
Thank you.
Same here bro,
Never sound problems while phone is awake (so I think not likely problems hardware-wise)
But patrial or no ringtone (only a short sound) and vibration on calls and sometimes other notifications.
While phone awake no problems when being called.
Thought for a while Lookout or Juicedefender being the problem, uninstalled these and problem seemed fixed, only to reappear shortly after that...
I am also clueless (and unrooted btw) for now.
A rather annoying issue has started to plague my Z2 and I was wondering if anyone else has come across it?
For the past two or so weeks it I've been having a number of missed calls (important one as well), this is despite the fact the phone as been three foot away from me. I've not heard it ring. Which is defeat the whole point of the thing.
I've now found out that occasionally it seems to want to stop making any sound. No notifications, ringtones etc. During one of it's tantrums I tried to play a MP3 via Doubletwist and it simply skipped through all of the album in record time without a single sound being played.
The only way to rectify this PIA issue is to reboot the phone.
I've also noticed that the vibrate is also occassionaly turned off, which is equally annoying.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
My phone is on 402 and rooted.
Thanks for any advice.
Do you have any apps installed like "sd card fix" or something like that? An app that should bring back the Feature to write on sd card with other then system app? For me these apps are making similiar problems. After deinstalled, everything working as it should be.
Thank you for your reply!
I've gone through and checked, and I don't have anything like that on my phone.
My old Galaxy S3 used to play up at times by refusing to receive calls and I found out it was down to my ringtone which seemed to be 'corrupt'. A reboot and it was back up and running.
This though is odd, as I don't have ANY sound. It's as if the sound part of the phone has given up the ghost!!!
I'm not even sure what makes it happen, which is REALLY annoying. At least then I could rectify it. It just happens.
Hello Everyone.
A recent problem, no new software, no updates, I've done a search, both here and on the internet, no solution I can find;
zte zmax, z970 metro pcs, 4.4.4 no root
Started a few days ago, when using bluetooth to make a call, the call goes through, bluetooth stays on, but the phone defaults to phone mic and speaker
I know bluetooth is still on as I can still end the call through bluetooth
To get the bluetooth re-engaged while on the call, I have to toggle in the phone applet, bluetooth icon to speaker on, and then back to bluetooth.
I think this started with a google update, but I did go back to the stock app and it didn't solve the problem
When I go into safe mode bluetooth works as it should.
I've uninstalled the only program that accesses bluetooth settings, (which was torque).
It just feels like this is a phone setting and not a glitch, I can hear the phone actually turn off the microphone. I've cleared the cache of all data, and I tried clearing the cache of bluetooth.
Hope someone can steer me in the right direction, thanks in advance
surprised how little support this forum now gives, I see other blue tooth problems without one post in response.
Anyway, I figured if my post was anything like most people with problems, I wouldn't get anyone offering ideas so I did a factory reset.
For anyone else, if you come up with a solution, go ahead and post for other peeps, this is a common problem around the internet but nobody has an answer yet
I already have this problem for a while.
It already began when I was still on Android 8.
The major problem is with a car it since it connects and then disconnects from the buetooth carkit when the ringtone is interrupted, when the ringing starts again it does not reconnect.
I can always try a full reset of the phone but not in the first weeks.
And even when I reset it, it can reappear, I'd like to know the cause.
I already uninstalled call recorders but this does not help. I started uninstalling apps I can live without but still no solution.
Did this happen to anybody else and what is the solution?
Well I did a hard reset and the problem showed up again when I installed volume manager from Bytehamster. Uinstallng Volume manager did not help
So I mailed bytehamster and he replied
"Such behavior can not be caused by my app. The app is only active while you use it and the only thing it ever does is setting volume (just like the hardware volume buttons do). The app does not cause permanent changes to the system. The fact that the problem does not even go away if you uninstall the app shows that the app is not causing the issue. There must be a coincidence and something other was changed.
I tried again and once again it was Volume manager causing the problem.
I also restored a backup with Volume manager installed and than I did not have the problem but my calendar could not synch.
So after all I looked for an alternative for volume manager (because I was not sure if Volume manager was the cause).
This seemed to solve the problem so I reinstalled all my apps and everythng worked fine.
In the end after installing a new app the problem arose again, uninstallng this app did not solve the problem.
Now I restarted in safe mode and the problem is gone.
So if I'm correct the problem is caused by one of the apps installed after the hard reset because the problem was not there in safe mode
So I think I have to find he app(s) causing this problem.
I know I can do this by installig one by one and try to make a call after every installation.
But this will be very time consuming, is there no way to find this out from the log (adb logcat), can you see in this log which app interrupts the call?
Any other way to find the cause is welcome.
Please correct me if my reasoning is faulty
