concern: UPDATE:[ROM] only for *I9100G* juffo V2.1 ROM based on DZKJ2,MultiLanguages
Hi,
At first, thanks for your work.
It's work perfectly but i have a problem for installing the kernel you propose via odin.
My phone stop at the yellow triangle and i'm forcing to use the kernel i find here : I9100G_ZCKH4_KERNEL_ROOT.tar
Thats the information i have when i type *#1234#
PDA : I9100GDZKJ2
PHONE: I9100GDZKH4
CSC: I9100G0LCKJ2
What can i do for update my kernel? or is there a better kernel for my phone?
I buy this phone in tunisia.
Anyway thanks a lot for your great work.
Sincerely
Finally i find a path:
It works with the tunisian version of 9100G.
First i follow this thread: Repair your bricked I9100G
Then i flash this kernel : I9100G_ZCKH4_KERNEL_ROOT.tar
Then i follow the instruction of the thread of Juffo : UPDATE:[ROM] only for *I9100G* juffo V2.1 ROM based on DZKJ2,MultiLanguages
I install the v2 and then the V2.1 but with the V2.1 i have some issues with the wifi and the camera. So i install V2 on top of V2.1. Then to my choice i install the stocktheme v2.1
That's it
Now my phone is :
PDA: I9100GDZKJ2
PHONE: I9100GDZKI1
CSC: I9100GOLCKJ2
ps: for my tunisian version of 9100G I can't install the kernel firmware proposed by juffo(phone doesn't start), i used the zckh4 rooted version. And it's rocks
Anyway thnx for your work juffo
pps: works also with Mygkernel 1.1.1, i havnen't any issues. My battery drain 41% after 17H utilisation (3H music - 1H call - 20 min voip - 1H using 3G for reading news, mail etc)
thnx
also i made this thread the ROM trouble shooting
Same problem
Same problem I had for installing custom ROM, stoping at triangle.
My mistake was installing custom ROM V2.1 straight away and it stucked at boot loader screen.
After that I install V2.0 at first and V2.1 on top of it and the problem gone.
Tnx to Juffo for Custom Rom and BigBang for its nice IceCream Sandwich Theme.

Dear Juffo there is an issue with persian support :
it always shows "گ" instead of "ک" its not a big deal but just wanted to report it.
and if possible plz let me know how I can add more persian fonts or how to change the font and I mean system font (the one which is responsible for showing contents in internet browsers and applications such as facebook).
Thank you again.

Hi everyone,
I bought my I9100G from Tunisia as well(Tunisiana)
for those who have like Hezali these specs :
PDA: I9100GJPKH8
Phone: I9100GDZKH5
CSC: I9100GOJPKG7
or even if you had KH4 you can do like this :
1/ Install MyGKernel V1.1.1 to have root and CWM
2/ Make a Backup using CWM in Recovery Mode
3/ Install the KJ2 Firmware
4/ If you lost CWM reinstall MyGKernel
5/ Put Juffo's Rom V2 AND v2.1 in your sdcard
6/ Install V2 and Then install V2.1 through recovery (install a zip from sdcard)
Optional :
7/Make another backup after installing the rom in case a mod or a theme is not working as expected
if you followed these steps you'll have Multilanguage support and the last firmware for I9100G as well + CWM and Root of course^^
Concerning the rom i love it, and now i do notice a difference in battery drain as there's a lot less wakelocks especially if you freeze Samsung bloatware using Titanium Backup Pro!
theres's only 2(3) problems :
1/ The camera isn't working, and it isn't a theme problem since i tried it with both stock and orange themes
2/ Logsprovider which is used to log calls also force closes
3/ This isn't really a problem but Juffo would you please put the files for the orange theme just like stock theme, cuz right now the only ways to come back to the orange theme are either reinstall the rom or make a restore
why i dont have CWM after flashing to your rom? did i need to flash to another kernel to get that?
offtopic:can you make this rom fully customize in term of theme just like MIUI because their lockscreen is wonderful
السلام عليكم
I appreciate what you've done Juffo until now for us who possess this damned I9100g and I'd like to thank you ... However after testing your custom rom 2.1 i've noticed some bugs:
1- the camera doesn't work it crashes
2- the calculator same problem also
3- battery drains faster
4- the last problem is a little bit wierd... let me explain: when choosing, for example, french as language, at first boot after flashing, and then let say that the hour after i'v decided to change to arabic thus replacing french of course... the problem is when entering language menu i've noticed that some languages disappeared from the list... that's all
Now for the version 2.0
nothig strange really everything works fine but the battery still drains faster and some languages are missing like french arabic etc...
that's what i've noticed so far
So my suggestions would be like this:
a faster custom rom with more stablility with tweaks and themes and lock themes.
شكرا لك يا أخ

exactly! after detecting the bloatware apps especially samsung ones( social hub wifi share...) juste freeze em with titanium backup pro, you'll notice a huge improvement in battery life!

I have an European Device with Arabic fonts installed , but it does not read Arabic even after updating to the last ( PDA:XWKF3 - PHONE:XXKE7 - CSC:XEUKD1 ).. still can't read Arabic .. so im wondering if i installed the new rom that i found on samfirmware I9100XXKG1 Android 2.3.4 , will it support Arabic reading or not
if your willing to help , please just open the bbc.co.uk/arabic/ or any Arabic site on the default system browser and tell us if its reading Arabic correctly ( that if you know arbaic ) or print the screen to us ..
Thanks in advance
Using Villainrom 2.0:
Looks the same in the default browser.
Thanks prodygee .. you saved me time. i was about to install the ROM ..
do you think they will ever release an update for SGS2 that would make the European devics at least just read arabic !
I'm not sure. I can't read Arabic, I can do Japanese, but I can't do better . Glad I could help you
yeah thanks you really helped .. its not reading arabic still .. may i ask what software you use for the screen capture ?
It works on my phone alright! The SGS2 has a built-in screencap utility. You need ot hold the home-button and press the unlock button quickly after that. You'll see a white border flash around the screen indicating it took a picture.
You can then view them in the gallery
awesome ! new trick that i was looking for ! ur the best
using arabic
you can install madmack rom to read write Arabic on a European SGS2. that is the case with me and it works flawlessly. It is basically taken from an SGS2 dump from the UAE I guess
only 2.3.3 can read arabic correctly for all the apps
if you need only browser on 2.3.4 you can use opera for connected letters
otherwise you need to use a released source firmware with modified libcore
madmack 1.5 works fine if you need a completely arabized phone with connected letters
Can you please answer my questions guys, thanks in advance:
1) So the 2.3.4 update will not include connected Arabic letters on browser, gmail, messaging??!!
2) Does Madmacks ROM requires the device to be ROOTED?
3) If not, Am I gonna be able to buy apps from the market?
4) Does Madmack's ROM affects the battery?
Thanks
Ayhamov:
1. As of this write up Samsung hasn't released Arabic firmware based on Android 2.3.4
2. If you want to flash the latest european firmware XXKG5 or XXKG6 yet have arabic letters connected then you would need a special kernel which allows you to update/overwrite a few files in the system folder, so definately you will *need to root* your device (I recommend using CF-Root's kernel corresponding to your flashed ROM to get the job done)
MadMack and I have released a package which you could flash using ClockWorkMod (CWM) recovery. I am attaching the latest version that I have here.
3. As for buying software from the market; no it's not affected by rooting.
4. To my knowledge the battery life is not affected by arabization, however, to achieve the task a process of deodex'ing the system framework program is performed which disables some acceleration in the system/browser. we don't have a workaround which maintains the performance yet. Some efforts have been put into getting the job done with maintaining the performance but till date we don't have a success.
Good luck,
Brightidea.

Greetings all..
I just bought a SAM Ace.. i had a Htc Magic then a X10 mini and now i turned to SAM.. heard that it was a good machine.. so..
I've been using XDA to root, and install new roms to my previous phones..
But in this SAM, unfortunately i am a bit conserned.. So can any1 help me in this questions:
: I'm running Ginger 2.2.3 updated throug Kies
1 - My mobile is sim locked.. i can't use any other sim.. I already searched that is possible to (root) the phone and then install an apk that unlocks the sim lock.. has any1 tried this? is it safe?
2 - I'm a bit worried to (root) this phone, does any1 report any problem after with network, battery and general stability of the device?
3 - Is the best stable official rom at the moment the one i have now or is there a better one ? Though Kies i can't find the 2.2.4v u guys are talking about.. so .. This isn't really an official rom right?
4- Since i've got my phone from Vodafone, it has some operator aps that i don't really use and they are using needed space, is there a way to remove them somehow.. like.. instaling a official rom from elsewere, but still upgradable through Kies? Or do i really need to (root) the device? After rooted, can i still install a official 2.2.3 rom.. but.. without all the operator crap?
5 - There are a few custom roms as i can see, i used to use de Cyanogen in my X10 mini, but i had some issues with sending and receiving mms.. , at the moment.. is there any stable and fully operational roms ? including the mms solved problems..? cof cof.. and good battey usage time ?
6 - Sorry for any bad english.
Thank you !!
Welcome to the community!
For question 4,I have used 2.2.1 and 2.3.4.felt ok except the wifi died occasionally which was a documented problem.
For question 5,I am currently on cyanogen but its a rc version.I am quite happy with it as performance boosted.but it came at the price of battery life.haven't tried mms though

Try to use cyanogen for the rom.

1. No idea although I don't see why it wouldn't be safe.
2. Rooting is easy. Like everything else, be careful and follow instructions to the T and you'll have no problems.
3. Correct. There is no 2.3.4 update through Kies...I think. Plug your phone in and find out.
4. If you want to remove bloatware, root your device and use Root Unistaller. Alternatively, flash a new ROM.
5. There are two variants of CM7.1 at the moment. One was made by BehradGH the other by Grif_07. Both work wonderfully.
6. It wasn't that bad =]

You should really be cautious when trying to unlock your phone. A lot of people bricked their phone by doing this. Since I have no personal experience in this; all I can do is direct you to threads on XDA but I'm too lazy to look them up for you so I suggest you to use "search".

I am using Icecream Sunday by Jusada. It's an ICS themed CM7.1 ROM but it has been stripped down to the bear minimum. Jusada initially made it as a foundation ROM for developers to then customize as they saw fit but it has become very popular amongst forum members as a day-to-day ROM. It is very stable and more importantly (for me) it is FAST!
Also, because it has been stripped down, I have noticed a lot better battery time.
Granted, the battery life on almost all Android phones is crap, but if you're looking to be more conservative with power and increased speed, use Icecream Sunday.
So to answer your question - I get about half a day's SOLID use from my battery.
As far as MMS goes, I am not sure. You'd have to ask one of the devs.
Hope that's helped

Welcome to XDA!
1) It can be quite tricky to unlock the Ace, and can brick/reset it. First check if it really is locked.
2) There's risk involved in rooting, but it's minimal - if you follow the instructions. There are pros and cons of rooting, but the pros outweigh the cons.
3) Kies sucks IMO, so you're better off upgrading with ODIN. Look in this section: http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1167.
4) The best way to remove the bloatware/crapware is by rooting and then uninstalling them, or by flashing a custom ROM.
5) There are a lot of stable ROMs available, take your pick: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194358, there's supposed to be an official Cyanogen for Ace(cooper) in the works, but if you can't wait that long, I recommend this one: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263292
Also have a look at some useful info:

Hi All, I have always been using Siyah kernel, since Android version 2.3.4, that I prefer for performances reasons.
But unfortunately I recently had some trouble with bluetooth.
I have a S2 I9100 w/ stock rom ICS 4.0.3 LPF (LPX as base-band) with mods for JKay deluxe setting + Call recording.
I've tested Siyah kernel from 3.3.3 to 4.0.1, but I've the same problem with all of them: When I try to enable bluetooth, the phone icon stays on "half-green" (just as starting) but it can't start. After that, most of times seems that phone becomes hot and the battery drains quickly, and even all the working services (wifi, gps, etc ..) can become unstable (occured with 3.5.2).
I haven't had problem of BT with all other kernels (DarkNight, Chainfire CF-root kernels, etc...), but I would like to stay with Siyah kernel.
Alternatively, can you suggest me another fully working kernel almost with the same characteristics of Siyah (BLN + OC/UC capable, performant, etc.) that may run with my version of ROM ?
Any suggestion are really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

Ok, sure, it is clear.
With my original post I gave the impression to refer directly to Gokhanomoral, even if I wanted to ask a question to everyone able to give me a solution or at least, an answer. Sorry!
I apologize for that mistake, and some minutes ago, I changed my first post so as to refer to all and showing a generic preference to Siyah (or equivalent) kernels. I didn't intend to offend anyone though.

I went back to the stock rom for my galaxy player US version, and I didn't see a persian language option. Are you looking at the 2.3 stock rom or 2.2 stock rom?

Does CM 10.1,10.2 and 11 have the Persian Language? You may have to flash back to stock to reset the battery stats completely, then flash back to CM 10.1, 10.2 or 11. I had a similar issue and that's what fixed it. Also you can try using different kernel settings. For me I use smart*ssV2 with a max clock of 400 mhz, when needing more battery saving.
Also I meant that you can get the original stock firmware through Kies so that way you'd have the stock rom that had your language on it.

Yes it is normal. However, Zaclimon hasn't ported over his impulse kernel yet, so the battery life should be better. Did you get the persian language to work on Carbon?

i know. but since i don't really have time, i just did a factory reset, otherwise, i don't have a phone to use. i hope i could have some extra time to recreate the bug and get logs. sorry mate, but still, even with no logs, just saying, that we had that kind of fc with google+, hopefully if someone did encounter the fc and had the time to recreate it for logs, that would be great.

SpiritROM on Samsung Galaxy S GT I-9000
Hi There,
I am using this ROM for last 2months, not much problems, but when i connect the phone to my PC, it doesnt prompt for selecting USB Mass storage. Due to this I am unable to transfer any data. I tried enable/disable Android Debugging, tried Options MTP/UMS from Settings->Storage->USB Computer Connection .. but still no luck.
Please suggest how I can enable the UMS.

I was using VK 7.4 jb4.1.2 samsung based rom for a year and every thing was fine. but since I started using this rom my wifi is not working after some days. the only solution is reinstalling the rom with wipe. I also tryed other roms like Slim Saber 4.4.4 and 5.0.1 and nameless 5.1 but all have the same problem!
any Ideas or solutions to this problem?

I totally understand but sadly I cannot help you as I also have the same problem across the board with pacman, cyanogen, neatrom... all based on KK but it sounds like it is some thing to do with the base compilation. I never tried any Lollipop roms and wont bother I have spent a huge amount of time on this already.
Is your phone a GT I9100T? Mine is this model number
It was a wifi driver? based issue. which has nothing to do with the modem.
Other than this the spirit Rom was amazing. I wish I had 10 posts under my belt so I did not get sidelined to another thread. I would like to be part of solving this issue. Which im sure is possible. Maybe as simple as using the correct wifi software?
If anyone out there wants to be part of the solution please dont hesitate.
Thanks and Ill keep my fingers crossed...
Thanks for the rom Nico, i remember the days where you made mods for RootBox. This is a very good rom (i'm still using it), full of customizazion possibilities, sadly it died soon.
SPIRIT Rom and bugs.... Well...
It is very stable and little bit spooky but still fency and stable rom . It is fast , just modify settings by Ur own pref. And i do suggest DorimanX kernel, v10XXX and time to time clean cache and anjoy this beauty rom

Now ME
Well mate, do a total reset.... Use Odin and instal latest official JB, do repertion, my sugg is 3Gb data at least and offcourse 1Gb sistem... Maybe Ull needed for Lollipop and anyway it is fine to have it, ull never know... Do a little search for modem which is best represenative of ur radio and version of Jelly Bean(JB) for UR local .... for me, best one is I9100XXMS4 . Before modem, after instal JB, root Ur phone and downloaded ZIP of ROM, Gapps And Modem put on Sd or Internal(if in internal-dont format internal memory).... In Odin put PIT file and check RE-PARTITION field, TAR file of official ROM and chek PDA field, ellse live it like it is... Goa ahed and START it. Do NOT chek NAND field!
So conc: U need: PIt Repartition file, Samsung official Rom, PhilliZ kernel((for safe begining and Root)), Odin 3.07, Modem file I9100XXMS4(for modifying or latter purposes) and FAITh in Urselfe and knowledge Ask 4 more
Cheers!
