Will any wired headphones with a ''hands free mic'' work with this phone?
Of course should.. if mic built into wire you should hear thru headphones and reply thru mic
I used to on my old phone thru Skype chat anyhow!!

Just use the one that came with the phone and plug in headphones of your choice.
Please refer to the accessories section of the X10 forums for more information. This is why no one is answering you; it has been discussed.
I use the only good thing from my n97 mini. The headphone, mic set. Very good sound. Buttons dont work tho, but bass is phenomenal. Ear bud type.

These are fantastic ear buds. Have been using them since 2008. They added the mic when the iPhone 3GS was announced, so they do work with mobile devices. I haven't tested them on the x10 since the pair I own were purchased before the mic was added, but I am pretty sure they would work without any problems.

Might want to check out Zagg's site as they have their ear buds on sale for like half price. I hear they are comparable too Bose ear buds. I use a Motorola bluetooth stereo headset. Its awesome but the max volume is a bit low for my taste.

Dont think.zagg will be compatible with x10

I know that using a sense rom, the thunderbolt is able to pipe sound over speakers through the headphone jack, but not able to handle calls while still plugged in to, say, a tape deck converter.
I'm just wondering if using an AOSP rom like CM7, OMFGB, or liquid Thunderbread will side-step that limitation? I know my OG Droid was able up make calls over speaker, but I'm not sure if this was an ability given by the phone or the fact that OG was vanilla?

Go to settings call then scroll down to TTY and select VCO then the mic should work while plugged into the speaker

If your car is bluetooth equipped, you can pair your Android device and have hands free conversations.
@saab I'm running cm7 now, and don't see TTY options anywhere. Am I missing something?
And unfortunately, my car is a bit too old. I could get a bt transmitter or something, but if I can use the tape deck converter I already have, I'd like to save the money.

Ah I haven't tried with cm7. I'm on gingeritis and it has the option. It may be a sense only option. Maybe ask some cm7 guys if they know a workaround for TTY settings. I know it's a setting for hearing impaired but it works for me to have speakers plugged in and the phone mic active.

has anyone done this? i tried the stereo audio cable, male on both ends, to the mic port...nothing.
tried a three ring (left, right, mic) cable, male on both ends, from mic jack on phone to pc output and still nothing.
i did read about another guy trying to get audio from a separate mic during video but didnt get a solution.
anyone? can it be rigged to work?
je:good:
Play it through your speakers while using the phones mic ?
You did say from pc to evo right? Then why would you use the mic jack on the pc? Try the headphone output.
What are you trying to accomplish if I may ask?

Ok, fyi for the record.
The HTC Mic port is NOT standard. I used a standard plug with left, right and Mic to record a professional voicemail to my voicemail greeting. I actually had to dial into my voicemail from a Samsung phone and record the voicemail greeting. The port on the Samsung must be standard as it was the only phone it worked on. Tried iPhone 4, HTC evl lte, and my wife's Samsung old school little slider phone. Voicemail came out great...too bad I couldn't use my own phone.

Cool, glad you got it figured out. I wonder what a good Bluetooth headset would sound like.

My headphones arent working well. Anyone else experience problems with the headphone jack?

Known issue. Some people were able to remove lint but other have a problem. It usually occures with headphones that have a microphone for calls. The headphones male piece is a bit to long for the Jack. Just try different headphones that have a mic or use plain headphones without a mic.

Hi all,
I wonder if someone is using the Bose mie2 headset on its Xperia phone.
I recently bought a headphone which I had to send back because it was not compatible at all...
Thanks for the feedback,
Jan

No idea about this exact model, but the Xperia P jack is wired for "CTIA standard" headphones and OMTP type ones require an adapter to swap mic and ground. Headsets for iPhone are CTIA but volume buttons are not standard and may not work (on the Ace 2 a kernel patch was released to support them)
The mie2 would be an android-compatible version (iPhone version is mie2i)
I already know about the omtp adapter but with the previous headphone even that didn't work:I had to push the button on the remote to hear something I was playing --> return to sender.
That's why I ask now before I invest
