Hi,
The thread for AmeriCanAndroid AOSP HD2 GB2.3.7 CM7.1 is now 17K+ replies & I was lost in there trying to find a solution for the Market problem "This app is incompatible with your phone" even for some apps already installed like facebook!
What I did after getting help from lots of replies in the thread is:
1- Install ES file Explorer.
2- in ES FE: settings->Root Explorer (checked)
3- in ES FE: settings->Mount File System (checked)
4- Brows to /sdcard/Android/
5- Click to edit "startup.txt" & chose an editor (I've ES Note Editor)
6- Edit the lcd_density=167 to lcd_density=240
7- Exit editor saving the file.
8- Brows to /system/
9- Click to edit "build.prop" & chose an editor (I've ES Note Editor)
10- Scroll all the way down till you find & edit the ro.sf.lcd_density=167 to ro.sf.lcd_density=240
11- Exit editor saving the file.
12- in ES FE: settings->Mount File System (UN-CHECK)
13- Exit ES FE.
14- Open Android App Manager
15- Select Market App
16- Select "Details/Clear cache/Force stop"
17- Click "Force stop" & "OK"
18- Click "Clear data" & "OK"
19- Exit App Manager
20- Re-boot
My problem was fixed & I installed all the apps without any problems.
Thanks to Warren and Cope
All I did was to force close Market and clear data, no reboot required.
THX I Love It
I am faced with the same issue so was very excited to find your post; however I cannot even go past step 1 since ES file explorer turns out to be one of those apps that the market says are not compatible with my device.
Do you have a workarround for that?
Thanks a lot!
Dude, seriously?
You're opening a new thread in the wrong section for this?
Your way costs lots of time and changes the resolution.
Just change in startup.txt the lcd_density=167 to lcd_density=160.
This won't change your resolution, compared with your way.
Start Android, open the Rom Manager app.
Touch "Fix Permissions".
When it's done reboot and you're ready to go.
Resoution Changed

I'm glad that your way is shorter - I wish you posted before - I just wanted to share what fixed my problem after going through 1000's of posts in the thread!
I think adding more posts to the original ROM thread is really complicating things ... anyway, the moderators can just move this post to any where appropriate.
Thanks,

Yes, this is what it is all about - but you may try TT5555 method - it didn't work on my device but it seems that every device has its own personality

You took my overreacting post very good, sport.
Well, thanks for trying to help people I think this question has been asked over and over again in the ROM thread, so actually you've got a point there.
Thank you so much for posting this. I've tried both methods and they both work. For me, TT555's method is my favorite. What I love about the AmeriCanAndroid build was the resolution.
Actully the original post has the solution long time ago!!
Do you why that happens "check the original post"!!
Mr. AmeriCanAndroid also recommended to set it 1x0, 240 just back to the way it was!!
@kontradictions:
I use this to control the resolution after applying the fix:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.wemobs.android.lcdresolution
@hkmate:
I said that I got the solution from the original thread but try to look for it in +17000 posts & tell me how to find it
that fixed that problem, does anyone know how to fix why it doesnt let me send pics thru picture messaging

This was the best and most correct hint here! I tryed at first the first one up there and my resolution was not good. After that I read that one and it´s perfect for me!!! Thank you very much

Hi,
I have applied your fix for LCD Density and Market device compatibility. It is awesome and I thank you. I have struggled with this for last few months!
Now I have changed my HD2 to 800x480 to 160dpi resolution and run Fix Permissions. Then rebooted the phone, cleaned Market cache and settings, run it again, and every application that I could not update before now is compatible with device
I have a problem though. There are artifacts on some gadgets, there is artifact on left side of the status buttons (once I expand status bar). There are artifacts on my on-screen keyboard (button images are different, strange empty gaps, transparencies).
Are there any fixes for these problems?

I did not edit the build.pro and it still works. In my case, ro.sf.lcd_density= in build.pro will be changed automatically according to the lcd_density in startup.txt

EDIT:
It now does work and i have no idea why or what changed ...
Not sure what's going on with my HD2 but I'm no longer able to update basic apps like Google Maps, I get the "not compatible with your device" message. Actually Google Maps wasn't even listed anymore so I set the density to 160 with LCD Density, cleared the cache of Google Play and it's back but I still have that error message. Is Google Maps "gone" for good from our HD2s ?
Tested on Galaxy Note ,should work to all android *ROOTED* phone .Bug report is welcome
Main Therad : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1478918
*Since v1.06 ,you can edit database yourself
*Since v1.05 ,file is backup to [SDCard/fishliterom] ,you can delete that folder if you want
What the app do
This is a window base program ,that create a script remove build-in Apps
Something like VPN ,encrypt and etc will NOT use by normal user ,you can use this script to remove them after flash new rom
What you need
a Rooted phone ,System Tuner (Maybe Script Manager can do that ? I don't know).
I test this with Samsung Galaxy Note ,but it should work with all android phone
Why I need to do that ?
Never use mean it's meaningless to keep in your phone
Some apps will run as service ,you CANNOT kill them by task killer ,so simple remove them for little juice
Same some space of launcher lol
Caution !
Do a CWM backup first ,or you may get serious problem with your phone like force close balabala ..
How to use
Unzip ,run lite-rom_creator.exe (If there is a update version ,simple get 'exeonly' zip packet ,replace the exe file
Select app that you want to remove from your phone ,double click to include ,or double click again to exclude .
After selection ,click [Export Lite-ROM Script] ,you will get a file [fish-literom.txt] ,put it in your SDCard .Then open System Tuner ,go to terminal ,select fish-literom.txt ,tick SU ,run the script.
You may get some Force Close message when running script ,ignore it .
After that ,reboot your phone ,ENJOY
You may try to resize the window of ROM Creator ,the height of grid list will change at the same time .
Beta version ,please report bug
My [fish-literom] script is stupid ,I know ,please tell me if I can improve .I'm not famous in Linux platform .
Hit thanks if you like this
You can live well with stock rom without remove any app ,so please leave this app alone if you think that lite rom is not what you need .
Download Link :
For previous user ,please copy old userapp.CDX ,userapp.dbf to new program folder
Run the program by double click lite-rom_creator.exe
Edit app list database by double click DBEdit.exe
Full with blank DB .
https://sites.google.com/site/literomcreator/Lite-ROM Creator Public v1.06.zip?attredirects=0&d=1
Change log :
2012 March 31
v 1.06 :

-lite-rom_creator.exe is the main program ,DBEdit is use for edit database
-applist.cdx,applist.dbf is program database ,userapp.cdx and userapp.dbf is your list,
BACKUP ALL if you update software
2012 Feb 7
v 1.05 :
Changed keyword [killed/unkill] to [remove/include]
Now file backup to /sdcard/fishliterom ,you may restore the app by copy file to /system/app and set permissions
2012 Feb 4
v 1.04 :
Fixed - Double click grid will not jump to top anymore.
Minor fix
Hi,

Please report bug ,it's a quick release as required lol

im looking for a screen dimmer mod like the one that was being used in Homebase. i know there are some market apps like screen dimmer but these are not the same. the mod im talking about lowers the minimum screen brightness by lowering the current being delivered to the backlight itself. there's an old thread about it here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1245332&highlight=manual
i havent been able to get it to work on wetdream. ive tried both pushing the framework apk with adb and manually editing the files with apk manager but the first caused a bootloop and the latter a bunch of google FC.
anyone know if there is a working mod(or how to get this one working) to set the minimum screen brightness lower?
i got it working with gingermod, for some reason it didnt work on wetdream. if anyone is interested here what you do
1. Download APK manager
2. Grab framework-res.apk from your phone under \system\framework\ (you can use root explorer or adb push) and place it in the "place-apk-here-for-modding" folder
3. Run Script.bat and select option 9
4. go to projects\framework-res.apk\res\values\arrays.xml and edit your values with the ones roger posted in my link above
5. Once edited, compile the apk using option 11
6. Is this a system apk. Ans: y
7. Qn: Aside from the signatures...least. Ans: y
8. Prompt: In the apk manager folder u'll find a keep folder..... done then press enter on this script. Press any key to continue . . . go to "keep" folder and delete resources.arsc and then press any key
once that is done you can also change the current that is drawn from the screen from the default 25mA to 5mA by using terminal or adb shell (this mod will help with battery life)
heres the command
su
cd sys/bus/i2c/drivers/lm3532/0-0038/leds/lcd-backlight
echo 17 00 > registers
reboot
for a more detailed explanation on what you are doing with these commands check out roger's thread in the above post.
