Can someone make an easy guide to unlock bootloader an flash custom kernel?
The spiderx guide is very good but difficult to understand...
UNLOCKING BOOTLOADER
firstly download all the files you need for unlock bootloading
how to unlock bootloader (This method if you have SEMC SIMlock)
1. Download Flash tool, s1tool, msm7227
2. extract s1tool.7z
3. make sure you have gordon gate driver installed (install PC Companion and)
3a. open PC companion and make sure it recognises your phone, and leave it OPEN
4. turn phone off completly
5. connect usb to phone (not to PC)
6. run s1tool and click 'hit do job' or 'run'
7. hold back button on phone and connect usb to PC
8. look for the word SEMC SIMlock,
there would be a upper case R and number (R8288) or lower case r (r8288)
if the r is lower case then bootloader is already unlocked, but if its upper case R then bootloader is not unlocked, continue with the instructions
9. open task manager and kill any adb.exe process
10. extract msm7227
11. make sure phone is connected and is in usb debugger mode before you run msm7227
12. run msn 7227 and will try to unlock bootloader
13. if it says "succesfully wrote 034433" then its unlocked!
14 double check, open s1tool again and follow the same procedure as step 1
if you get rxxxx instead of Rxxxx then it means you were sucessful in bootloader unlocking!
try at your own risk
once you have completed the unlock bootloading
then use flashtool to flash your firmware
FLASHING CUSTOM KERNEL
download a custom kernel of your choice
place this .ftf file in flashtool>firmware folder
run flashtool
press flash
select the firmware you want then ok
turn phone off, connect the usb to phone, hold back button on phone then connect the other usb end to the PC
it should start to flash and you can let go of the back button
(when its finished flashing DONT CLOSE FLASHTOOL)
-when its finished
turn phone on, go to settings>application>development and select usb debugging mode
-then you need to root your phone
so click on root
phone should reboot
-then click on ask root perm
and on your phone you should get a message select "yes" for permission
-then on flashtool click on xRecovery to install xRecovery
wait til its finished then you can close flashtool
FLASHING CUSTOM ROM
download and place a ROM of you choice to your sdcard
turn the phone off
when turning your phone on hit the back button few times until you get to clockworkmod (xRecovery)
from clockwork mod go to 'install zip from sdcard'
then select 'choose zip from sdcard'
and select the ROM zip you want to install (e.g Minicm7.zip)
and hit yes
when the custom rom is installed make sure you wipe factory data, cache and dalvic cache
I hope this helps you
but try this at your own risk, i cant be held responsible if you brick your phone
i wanna go back to original rom that comes with xperia neo, but i just imagine how to use flashtool everyone just says "flash with flashtool" someone could give me steps how to do it?? full help needed full and clear steps please thx for help if i get any ^^
Steps to flash with Flashtool
1) Download the firmware you want to flash
2) Put it into the firmware folder in the C:/flashtool folder (or wherever you put the flashtool folder.
3) Run flashtool and click on the lighting symbol (flash button)
4) Select flashmode
5) The firmware folder will open, select the firmware you want
6) Follow on screen instructions to put phone into flashmode
7) when phone is conected in flashmode flashtool will start flashing the software
8) when it is finished disconect phone and if you got the correct firmware it should boot and all will be good.
Alternative you can use Wotan server.
The programm will detect you phone and guide you through the flashing.
But Flashtool is faster, if u manage to use that than do it ^^
Seriously no idea why you guys cannot search a little instead asking every time :/
There is a great guide already made for flashtool.
Hello, I want to downgrade my soft in sk17i from 4.1.B.587 to 4.1.B.431. How can i do this? I already downloaded the soft.. I know that there is a program called flashtool but im afraid that something bad can happen to my phone :| Can you help me?
Download flashtool and the 4.1.B.431.ftf firmware for the sk17i
Now you go in the flashtool installation folder -> drivers and you install all drivers for all devices/modes. Place the 4.1.B.431 firmware in flashtool -> firmwares and launch flashtool. Now click on the flash, select flashmode, select the ftf, but don't tick wipe data, otherwise all your data is lost. Now click okay, turn off your phone, wait a few seconds, hold volume down and while holding volume down connect your phone via usb to your pc. Flashtool will flash the firmware automatically and when flashtool has finished, unplug your phone and start it :good:

This method is working on XPERIA Ray (tested by me :laugh, but I don't know if the toolkit works on any other device (with its own kernels). Please tell me when you test it on another device.
Preparation:
On your PC (requires windows):
-Disable any antivirus or security tool.
-Download and install Flashtool.
-After installing Flashtool, go to C:/Flashtool/drivers and install drivers (pic your device driver in addition to Flashmode & Fastboot drivers).
-Download the zip from this link:http://d-h.st/Cg5 and extract it. You'll get 3 files which you must use later.
On your XPERIA:
-Go to Settings-Security-enable Unknown sources.
-Go to Settings-Developer options-enable USB debugging.
-It's recommended to make a backup for contacts, messages, apps and their data if any thing happened wrong.
-It's recommended to start with more than 50% battery.
Procedure:
1. Flash the 4.1.A.0.562 kernel ftf using Flashtool:
-Power off your device then connect to usb while pressing volume down the you should get a green led, which mean that you've connected in flashmode.
-Copy 4.1.A.0.562 kernel file to C:/Flashtool/firmwares.

When you face a problem with this method, please tell me.
About Installing CWM Recovery
(Works with all 2011 XPERIA devices | Requires Root)
For installing CWM Recovery, download from play store x-Parts and open it. You'll see many tabs. Get to INSTALLS and tap Install CWM. Now if you want to get into recovery, go to TOOLS and tab Reboot to Recovery or you can reboot your device and when it starts up and displays SONY logo press rapidly and successively volume down key, then the recovery will open.
Hi I did all the steps from ROOTING to installing CWM.
My problem is I cant boot to CWM. I i tried both method stated above; (from X-Parts "boot to recovery" and press Volume Down key during Sony logo boot screen).
What should I do?

Sadly, I don't have any methods to open cwm recovery other than the listed above. Please re-check if the recovery was installed successfully. Sometimes the recovery doesn't install because of bad connection
Fine, very thanks :victory:
Hi,
I am using LWW with "cm-10.2_coconut-LX-20131112-NIGHTLY". I have baseband in version: '8x55A-AAABQOAZM-203028D-64' and I'd like to update to latest version. How can I do it? If it is possible, I'd like to do it from Linux, if not... I will find Windows
Regards
It's not so difficult to flash it. Download your device FW in .ftf format from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27376024&postcount=3
Then download flashtool from here http://www.flashtool.net/download.php ( it has Linux version ). Install Flashtool, move .ftf file in Firmwares folder in flashtool install dir, then start flashtool. Press lightning icon and choose "Flash mode", select your FW, on Wipe screen UNCHECK everything and check all but Baseband on Exclude screen. Turn off your phone and connect it to computer while pressing Vol- button ( the led must be green ). Then just flash it.
