[Q] Can't send MMS in MiniCM7Pro v21 - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

As the topic's title suggests, the installation of this wonderful ROM disabeled mms functionality. In the conversation window the message status is Sending... Settings are correct, I checked them with my carrier. What could be wrong? This is the second installation of the same ROM, and I have the same problem again.

It's a problem with all ROM's based on Cyanogenmod 7. When using stock the phone automatically activates mobile data to send and recieve MMS. Cyanogenmod doesn't, its been listed on their bug-tracker so they are aware of it but nothing has been done yet.
To send MMS you have to turn mobile data on, and make sure your APN settings are correct

Mobile data is on and my mms settings are correct, I cheched them. Is there any log file that I could upload?

Try rebooting the phone then turn mobile data on, but make sure that wifi is off. Then resend the message. The log file won't mean much to me I'm afraid!

lol...people still use MMSs nowadays?

LOL, people still think sms and email are almighty? How do I send a picture to someone, that doesn't use email on his not-so-smart-phone?

Don't tell me I'm the only one with this problem??

Could a complete wipe out and reflash fix this problem? I also get FC when taking pictures with the camera, so I'm thinking about starting from scratch...

No, you're not the only one. I have the exact same problem. I am trying every possible setting for the mms APN, turned off and on the data communication, rebooted the phone again and again - no mms, send or receive.
I guess we'll have to keep on searching for a solution...

I'm gonna try reflash... Let you know if it works...

Reflashing didn't help, and I can't post it to the official theme, because I don't have enough posts....

maybe enable national roaming data. just in case your carrier roams on another carriers network.
what messaging app you using?

For those who really need/want 2.3.7 and
MMS working I can recommand StornMix V2.
I also tried several ROMs and I could not get
MMS working.
Unfortunately StornMix V2 has the following problems:
- sym-key on hardware keyboard does not work
(there is a fix for this... apply Optional_default_keyboard.zip via CWM)
- USB tethering is not 100% stable

[SOLVED] Can't Send SMS ICS Passion v12

I'm having an odd issue that I cannot figure out.
I'm running ICS Passion v12 on my T-Mobile Vibrant. I was on stock 2.2, went back to 2.1 with Odin then flashed CWM. I then wiped (data, cache, dalvic) and installed CM7, wiped again and flashed ICS.
Everything on ICS is working except sending SMS. I can place & receive calls, receive texts, but every time I try to send one I get a "Message Not Sent" notification. I don't have a data plan with the phone but do have unlimited SMS. Does this ROM try to push SMS out through data?
Here is what I've tried. Rebooting, power off & battery pull, wipe and reflashing the ICS ROM multiple times, still no luck. I tried to flash CM7 again to see if I can send messages there but the ICS recovery wouldn't take the zip file. Tried to restore stock and it had an error with the boot image.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I should do?
Update: I entered *#*#4636#*#* in my dialer and went selected Phone Info. Under SMSC it was black. I selected Refresh and am getting a "refresh error" message. Do any of you have something listed there?
Solved Replaced T-Mobile SIM card and I can now send SMS.
Looks like sending picture messages is working, still just having the problems sending SMS.
Are you on simple setting? Go to wireless network and access point and see.

SOLVED
Issue Solved
All I needed was a new T-Mobile SIM card.
Android 2.3 and up uses PDU mode for sending SMS. My old SIM card couldn't handle the upgrade to 4.0.3. It was working on stock because it is only 2.2.
MMS not working
So you were able to send MMS? I upgraded to Passion v12 *BETA* and now I can't send or receive MMS. Everything else works including SMS

Yes MMS always worked, as long as data is turned on. It may be an issue similar to mine where the SIM card is bad. T-mobile just handed me one free and it was a 5 minute phone call to activate it.
Check your APN settings. I had same issue. Google T-Mobile apn settings and compare. This is what mine was missing: MMS Proxy: 261.155.165.050 MMS Port: 8080 Works great now.

Might be a sim card issue. I will try to replace with a new one and then let you know if that was the problem. Thanks!

Alright so it turned out that the MMS app wasn't resizing the photos, so they were being rejected because it was too large. I cropped a photo to test that out and it worked. APN settings are configured too. Anyway, I ended up getting Handcent. Wayyyyy better haha.

Dialer search by last name and mms question?!

I've installed [ROM][XWLA4][FEB 23] CheckROM RevoHD™ V6 | Kitchen Pro v2.4. with siyah kernel. Everything is super fine ... but
In dialer ... when i am typing for person i would like to call it searches only on first names. Is there a solution to get names also with last names?
On the other hand ... is there a way to send MMS message without manually switch on "data" ?
Anyone could help me with this issues?
Thanks!
I would also like to fix the first part of the questions.
The second part works fine on my phone (I just send a MMS and that's it) so check your APN and roaming settings.
This can in my opinion only be fixed by changing the dialer. I have installed Rocketdial and this gives you many more options than the stock dialer. It also integrates with the phone fantastically. Try it!

Can't send MMS w/o enabling data

Hey, all!
Ever since i've picked up the amaze I've been having a mms bug. Can't send any pics w/o enabling the data first. When i hit send, it does display the 4g icon (i'm on stock ics, but it happened on gb as well), but in a minute or two the error message comes in. Once i enable the data and hit retry, it goes out smooth.
I haven't updated to a new sim-card yet (wi-fi calling wouldn't work on gb with the old one, but ics doesn't seem to mind), not sure if that's something to look into.
Let me know if anyone has any ideas
Thank you!

Mms is a data-reliant service, you need data enabled to send or receive. Thus...I would not classify this as a bug...

was it hard to just say you can click on the "mobile network" icon to bring up the settings tab vs the switch, as i had no idea it worked like that now? thank you.
Update: still no dice with the correct settings. 4g icons shows up and then i get the delivery error message. once the data is forced enabled from the drop-down, it's golden. very strange.
Without data enabled, you will not receive nor be able to send out mms. No way around it.

i understand that, but when sending mms, there should be a trigger (which i can tell it tries to do when i see the 4g icon appear right after hitting "send", except for nothing happens) for the mms data to be enabled just for the time it takes to send a particular mms, otherwise, what's the point to always have data enabled? none of the smartphones i've had, had this happen (sensation included).

Go into your apn settings and delete it or simply reset to default, it should auto download the correct settings, no idea how to make mms work WITHOUT data being enabled, I find that odd to be honest, but if it worked on GB, then I think you guys should stick to GB, just to save yourself some dollars.
It has been a while russianbear.. Anywho, what previous people have said is true, if you actually have data DISABLED, it won't come on for anything(how would the phone decide you want it on for MMS, but not something else like browser?). I used to roll around with data disabled a bit when I had gingerbread, so I can confirm it was the exact same way - you had to enable data to send mms - if it was off, nothing data related would work.
If you aren't worried so much about how FAST is sends MMS, you could always set it to 2g only, then your phone simply couldn't send much data at all.. or an awesome feature built into ICS - go to system settings then click usage - turn on set data usage limit, and set it REALLY low - this will keep ANYTHING that uses background data from sending/receiving, but any app you use in the FOREGROUND will work like normal - open browser or youtube and they would work like normal..
I'm sure there's another trick that would work, but I need more coffee.. good to see you again russianbear.

hey, man good to see you as well.
i'm sure i'm not tripping when saying you don't actually need to physically enable the data connection for it to send mms (none of my prior devices needed to) i've downloaded go sms pro and it works like the stock app should - i don't need to enable anything to send mms now (all options in that app are stock also). not a deal-braker to me, but still strange.

LOL, that may be why I didn't have issues.. I hate the stock messaging app, so I always used gosms. I'm not sure why you would use that ugly HTC goodness anyways, lol. Good to have you back bro
After much time trying to have MMS working without the data connection being active, I found that putting only "mms" in the APN Type setting does the trick (don't forget to save the settings before exiting the APN settings screen). The problem is that the setting is not applied without RESTARTING the device! So, change the setting to "mms", save, and restart.
You need to have the "Data active" option ticked, but there will (should) be no data connection for internet.
PS: I did this in another device, not the HTC Amaze. But it probably also works for you guys.

i've tried mms only, but still nada. it's ok though, i like go sms app anyway
Actually I send MMS and the message leaves but the person who receives the MMS gets an empty MMS message.
After much playing around with the device, I discovered that inserting a picture using gallery or the explorer that comes with the Amaze are all fail.
The only way I'm able to successfully send messages is inserting the image using ROOT Explorer. When I send MMS the person no longer gets empty MMS messages.
Now I'm using the CapcomCE ROM and it happened on SpeedROM 7.5
I downloaded the Gallery ICS from market and its the same story.
So basically if I insert pictures to send through MMS I have to use the Root Explorer or else the MMS messages are sent empty.
Has anyone had a similar experience?

CM9 and MMS

Hello,
First of all, thank you for you all for you so good work !!
I have installed CM9 Beta4 on my Legend. Everything is OK (included GPS), except the reception and sending of MMS.
I tried everything I could find on google but I didn't succees to solve my problem (the default parameters of CM9 are good).
My operator is SFR (France).
Is there a solution or should I leave CM9 for CM7 ?
Thank you for your answer.
I tried with CM7 and it works ....
The stock messaging app does not work for mms, you need to use 3rd party app. when I'm on zeubeas rom I use handcent, you can also use go SMS but I personalty do not like go SMS anymore since its recent updates.
When using handcent you must change the settings in handcent and make it the default app to handle SMS and mms.
Sent from my Legend using xda app-developers app
Thx ranger4740 but it didn't work ....
I tried with Handcent, then with Go SMS Pro ...
You also need to have mobile data turned on too, this is a common issue in cm roms. You will also need to check with your carrier for your correct apn.
Sent from my Legend using xda app-developers app
Even with data turned on it doesn't work .... and for the parameters of APN I tried different parameters I found on google.
My carreir gives the parameters too for my phone (always the same parameters, except for the APN) but nothing works ...
I am condemned to retourn to CM7 ....:crying:

sorry I couldn't help
Sometimes I get lazy when sending MMS on CM7 regarding the toggling of mobile data, so I just share whatever image I want to send to the URLy app and send the link instead. Much faster than turning on 3G, selecting the image, waiting for it to send, and finally turning off 3G.
Sent from my Nexus 7 on the XDA app. GO CANADA GO
Thank you .... I will try.
But the problem is not the sending but the reception ...
OK, I think I found the problem ....
I deleted all APNs, I rebooted the phone and creates only the APN for MMS..... and it works !!! MMS can be send and I can receive them.
But when I create the APN for data it didn't work anymore ..... I am obliged to delete the data APN and to reboot the phone ...
I continue my investigations ....
Some news on my problem of reception MMS.
I receive a MMS message asking me to download the attachment.
When I click to "download", the icone "3G" (or "H") flashes 2 or 3 seconds, as if there was conflict with the connection of the data 3G (when 3G is active, no icone when 3G is not active).
I always look for a solution....
Thank you guys

CM13 6.0.1 - Force Connect MMS

Hi,
I can't automatically receive MMS on standart sms app, anyone experiencing this ?
MMS Just keeps sending/downloading
(i have to turn data on to receive MMS)
I've done some searching and I can't seem to find the issue with MMS data?
My APNs are correct and I have the Messaging app set to Auto-enable data yes nothing happens at all.
Any pxt I send just says "SENDING..." and any I receive just says "Downloading".
Is there an option somewhere in the settings that I am missing?
In earlier versions of Cyanogenmod there was an option to "Enable Packet Data" in the Wireless/Network settings, but it doesn't seem to be present in CM13.
In stock rom 4.1.2, there was this option in feature.xml (System \ csc)
<CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>true</CscFeature_RIL_ForceConnectMMS>
Thanks for any help and keep up the awesome work.
Hi, thanks for using the q&a.
Firstly, I used to have the same problem with MMS on lollipop roms. It did work for me on earlier MM roms, but the problem came back a while ago. I just use a 3rd party sms app now. Two that I have used and work well are chomp and textra. They do have ads though which are a little annoying. MMS works perfectly on these(chomp definately, I'm using now; textra I haven't used for a few months but did work perfectly then)
I don't really have a fix for the stock SMS app. As I said it did work properly for a while(for me) on MM with auto enable data.
EDIT: From memory it was dependant on the carrier as well, some people it worked and some like me(and some others on the same carrier) it didn't work....

If you want to keep trying with chomp, try going into the app settings(3 dot menu) then messaging -> mms and switch "mms behaviour". Also see if your carrier send limit is not exceeded.
The other thing I would make sure is your apn settings for mms is correct. Sometimes I have found I need to configure apn manually...
Has anyone tested MmsRequest - reimplement automatic data sub switch -> CyanogenMod / android_packages_services_Mms by Ricardo Cerqueira?
