Yes.

unfortunately root not working on the new 4.0.2.a.0.62

which phone?

my device is xperia neo ... also arc, play, and other phones have received the update

unfortunately the only way to root after updateing to 4.0.2.a.0.62 is to flash the 4.0.2.a.0.42 Kernal with flashtool, Im pretty sure you don't need unlocked bootloader to flash original SE Kernals... so just flash the old Kernal and you should be able to root again..
Otherwise if its not too late for other users I would just stay away from the new update until there is an easy rooting method, the update doesn't offer any real advantages.. AFAIK only a few minor bug fixes.
Have a great Christmas!

Update seems to be out for Middle East and Africa only atm

Croatia (Europe) still have .42 we dont have new updates.
And yes, new version still not rootable

xperia active
yesterday i rooted the xperia active of my wife (0.42).
i have a question: if sony will upgrade the phone (maybe 0.62) or later this year
to ics, i will lose the root access?

hi
i have same problem
how can use it?

Just download the RootXperia.zip file to your sd card,
boot into recovery and install the zip file...
easy way to boot into recovery (Bootloader needs to be unlocked)

Works great......

I am not experienced with log files, but, if you wanted to, you could sbf 2.3.4 and root with peet's motorola root tools and download voodoo ota root keeper. Its free on the market and you can use that to save your root. Once you have root saved, update. Then open that app and click restore root.
Sent from my MB870 using xda premium
Just try Petes one click root.

If you are trying to get to eclipse 2.3.5 then you will need to do it with Pete's on 2.3.4 and then rootkeeper and update. Then remove rootkeeper and the backup or else you wont be able to flash eclipse with rootkeeper on your phone. Zergrush is very easy but if that does not work for you you can use rootkeeper its free on market and works. Just not for eclipse.

It seems that hari034 is using a version of Xperia 2011 Easy Rooting Toolkit by DooMLoRD, which uses the zergRush exploit (see code snippet below).
The bug is fixed in ICS, so the tool does not work in this case.
Code snippet from runme.bat
Code:
...
@echo --- installing busybox
@files\adb shell "/system/xbin/busybox --install -s /system/xbin"
@files\adb shell "rm -r /data/local/tmp/busybox"
@echo --- pushing SU binary

First time flashing NeoV - want to make sure that i got everything right

Hi guys,
so i got tired from the offical sony ics 4.0.4 on my experia NeoV and i want to flash the Xperia Ultimate HD™ ROM v2.0.
But before i want to know that i got everything right:
1.first i need to root my device and to my understanding this can be done with:
DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit [v4.0] that i can get from here
2.then after rooting, i need to install cwm and if i want to keep locked bootloader i can use RecoverX from here .
3.after that i need to backup using the cwm & transfer the backup file to my pc.
4.Then i need to do all the wipes and resets in CWM and install the zip file.
another question that i got is - what should i do if i got bootloops?
and what is the Onscreenbuttons Control? how it should be flashed? Through CWM?
also there was a user who reported that his camera inst working and he recevied an answer that he should flash neov patch.
how it should be patched ? also through CWM?
Thank you all for reading
U won't get bootloops if u are following the correct steps of installation!
If u r stuck in one use flashtool to flash stock ics again!
Onscreen button control is used to show/hide onscreen buttons in the rom! But first u need to flash onscreen buttons which u.can.find.by searching in the apps and themes section!
If u have cam probs then flash the neo v patch I posted! U just need to flash it from cwm! No wipes required!
Press the thanks button if I helped!

Locked bl - no cause u have to wipe /system which also deletes the cwm
Unlocked bl - yes! As the cwm is embedded in the custom kernel if u flash one! Stock kernel doesn't support that!

Congrats, or should i say Bravo ? at last you made a decision for customization.
Well all those are baby steps, believe me. & you are doing it Right
Step 1 is a bit tricky tho. to root your device, you need DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit,
which you mentioned already, but to use DooMLoRD's Easy Rooting Toolkit you also need to have Flashtool & Kernel .562
I can't repeat all those baby steps, since they are covered many times here, so quick google will lead you to the way,
for just helping purpose, I will post two links
http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/41119
http://theunlockr.com/2012/06/18/ho...nning-android-4-0-4-with-a-locked-bootloader/
the rest, you are doing Right ...
if you encounter bootloops, you have two options to recover your phone,
1- use SEUS or Pc Companion to restore your phone
2- use Flash tool to Flash the latest firmware.
OnScreen button are three little buttons for "Back, Home & Menu" you can download them and flash them using CWM just like you are going to flash the ROM. for the Camera there might be a patch available for Ultimate HD Rom check their thread & it also patch/flash using same method. lol CWM made your life easy ? isn't it ?
Good Luck

Have you done all preparations on your phone which are written in doomlord's root toolkit, after you run it, before you pressed any key to continue?
And yes, it's .562 kernel for root, not .431.

answer is no. there is ICS root toolkit.
just follow sticky thread in general section..
Followed the sticky and your advices and didnt manage to root it. getting errors on the rootkit no matter what kerenal i'm trying
I think ur using the wrong kit..v4 is for GB..
for ICS..i gave you the link before..get that kit..v1 for Xperia ICS..
I did it!
I've just finished the road you are about to go.
I was stock .562 and I was bored of the heavy lag present when going to the phone interface.( and many other)
It took me 3 days to decide after having read some hundred XDA posts and some pale french translation.
No I have successfully pass the step;not easily, where many traps to escape from.
My opinion:
1) No easy track without UNLOCKING the bootloader, You'll be free to choose your ways after done it. just follow SONY ( long) instructions and you gonna free. EMEI number, email, SDK and drivers installation and some more clicks)
2)CWM is the second important step; I solved it by flashing a rooted kernel (problem, I can't tell which one because of the mess I had at the time, it is reported as 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected]"'4 in my phone status, but any other kernel with CWM should work.
3) As soon you can go to CWM , you can flash the system you want, and you can try as much you want in order to choose.
I stopped to Ice Cream Pureness[Build 13] that installed first in good order and is running (well) at this time. I also tried before JB JELLY SANDWICH 7.2.1but without success because installation stuck at system user FCs;
4) I ask you to read this very good tread about rom installation, so you can use the rom if you want too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1766539
My opinion is we have very strong and experimented persons around us to support, but now they are going to other new devices at the time where most of us are going to make full use of this very good device, after warranty period for most of us,
That's life..
regards;

Flash kernel, root(simply run bat file), flash kernel back.
Aprox.2,3minutes of work, and mostly because phone restarts few times.
That is not easy?
I understand it's your opinion, but..
LoneWanderer Thank you!!
managed to root, install cwm and install rom.
thank you all for helping!

v4 Should work in theory although somehow only v1 worked for me.

No, it shouldn't, and there is a reason why v1 worked for you and v4 didn't.
V1 root toolkit is ics and it only grow to version1, v4 is for GB and it grow from v1 to v4.
Understand now?

Pleas use search button and you made a wrong thread. Next time please ask in Q&A thread.
Btw: You can't root .587 Follow this guide: [ROOT][ICS][Locked bootloader] for ICS 4.0.4 You must only replace all ST18i_4.1.B.0.431 to ST18i_4.1.B.0.587 in text to get it working.
