No sound through 3.5mm jack while HDMI connected - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an old TV with a DVI port and an HDMI adapter connected to it. The audio input on the tv is an aux cable. So my Galaxy tab needs to output the sound through the 3.5mm jack but with the HDMI cable connected the audio is only transmitted through the HDMI. Is there anyway of having audio output through the audio jack whilhving the HDMI connected at the same time? Ive tested them individually and both work but when both are connected I only get video but no sound. Any help would be appreciated.

Issue fixed, upgraded to version 3.2 via the update menu in the tab. Rooted it and installed the following kernel: 2.6.36.4 - OC-VFPv3-d16_FP 1.4GHZ. Don't know what fixed the issue if it was 3.2 or the custom kernel. I'm happy the problem is solved and hopefully if somebody else has this issue they might fix it with the info.

No sound on multimedia dock with CM9

I have been running AOKP for some time now, and everything has been working great, except for the occasional freezes. I have now installed the latest nightly CM9 build, but I don't get any sound through my multimedia dock. It plays through the built in speakers. Anyone have the same issue, or maybe a solution?
I have the same problem. The sound comes out from the built-in speaker.
same issue... was running SGT7 AOKP P1 build 40. Now running CM9 nightly build 20120713... sound only comes out of built in speakers no matter what i do.
I've tried enabling HDMI dock (which both OS's seem to recognize physically docked/undocked).
Tried enabling USB Audio setting (with both OS's seem to IGNORE physically docked/undocked).
I came from Overcome where everything worked perfectly. The frustration is that I'm using a MM dock. Sound neither comes through the HDMI interface, nor the 3.5mm. This setup is mounted in my dash so now I have to make the decision of ICS/no sound in my car or Gingerbread...

select pass through usb audio in dock settings, then dock it. if its already docked, force a undock, take tab out, select audio passthrough, then dock it.

I have this issue on the 7in tab still despite running CM9 official. Any one know if there is any more progress, as the above suggestions don't work for me? The tab doesn't recognise the dock being plugged in even though it recognises USB to the computer etc.
Here's hoping...

[Q] ICS or higher ROM w/ working HDMI (video AND audio)

Is there any X2 ROM out there Android 3.0 or higher with working HDMI (BOTH video AND audio) ??
I did a search, and it seems all the CM10/CM9 variants do HDMI video, but no audio (which I need).
I don't care about working data, just need wi-fi.
Thanks!!
i have the same issue as you, i tried sotmax but it doesn't work
i think it could be kernel related...
you can still get audio out of the 3.5, and any monitor/TV that actually has decent speakers has an external audio input for one of the HDMI ports anyway.
if you absolutely MUST have audio over the HDMI connection and ICS/JB, just get one of these http://www.cypeurope.com/Audience/AU-11CA-HDMI-Audio-Embedder-with-built-in-Repeater.html and a 3.5mm to stereo RCA cable. done and done.

[Q] Car Dock Audio Out - Cyanogen Mod 10.1

Hi All,
I've been looking around and can't seem to find a solution to the problem I'm facing.
I own a i9300 Rooted Galaxy S3 with the latest nightly build of Cyanogenmod 10.1 on it.
I also own a Desktop Dock for my desk which has audio out, this line works perfectly, however when I try to use my car dock the audio out does not work. It recognizes it is a car dock opens my app and charges but the Audio line does not work.
I know the cable is not faulty as I have tried it on the stock Samsung firmware and it works perfectly.
So does anyone know if a car dock is much different to a desk dock in terms of outputting sound, and how I can fix this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Paul
I got the same problem. I switched to omega rom and works fine there. I tried all roms based on open android project and no one works. But all roms vased on sammy firmware works

Car dock audio out by USB issue.

Has anyone got the official car dock working on a custom ROM with audio out by the USB slot?
I have the option ticked in device settings but audio keeps playing through phone speakers?
I use it that much I'll swap to any ROM that has it working.
Or kernel.
Swype'd at pace from my Galaxy S2

[Q] Force Audio out via USB

I'm part way through completing an Audio/Charging cable for my car and was wondering if there was a way to force audio out via the USB instead of relying on the phone checking for the required voltage to put it into dock mode.
Reason being I want to troubleshoot my setup and be sure that the phone is trying to output audio via the USB port, my USB flex is faulty (I think) so I'm not sure if the sound isn't working because the ROM doesn't support audio out, if the cable I made doesn't work, the phone es faulty etc, if I can force audio over the dock then I know the problem is with the phone.
I've tried a few car mode apps but I don't know if they activate the audio out via USB mode or not.
I'm running Supernexus M1 (4.2) as my ROM if that matters.
Thanks,
Auzeras
