I got this phone last week. The phone is amazing. The problem i have is the phone doesnt recognize '.vcf' files. so i am having troubles transferring my contacts from my iMac to my Razr. Can anybody suggest any workarounds for opening .vcf files on my Razr so that i can save my contacts????
Thanks in advance.
I'm not 100% s sure about vcf format but considering you need a gmail account to prep utterly use any Android handset would recommend trying to port the file to the contacts section of the gmail account

Any other way to open those files on the phone??? Does Razr doesn't support vcf files???

I had no issues loading all my contacts from vCards (.vcf).
Contacts>Menu>Manage Contacts>Import from sdcard

If I import a vcard received via text message, then it gets imported into my contacts without any problem. But if i transfer contact vcard from my iMac to phone via bluetooth and try to import it into my contacts, i get some parse error. is it a compatibility issue?

could not read vcard (file ended during parsing base64 binary)

So i just tried various Roms and I'm very impressed. The roadblock i am facing now is how to copy my contacts from the phone to PC and back again when the ROM isn't sense based. (HTC sync isn't working)
I've tried Android Commander, but i still can't figure out how to get my contacts copied off the phone.
Any Suggestions..
if you are using 2.2 then it have option you can simply import contacts from phone to sdcard . or use MyPhoneExplorer
I had this same problem, but then I figured I could start adding my contacts as google contacts. Now all my contacs gets synced if I should decide to flash a new ROM.

I cant figure out how to download the app to PC and then transfer. Any help?
Don't you have 3g data or other internet connectivity to use the market? I don't know if your computer can be used as internet source, most people want to do it the other way round. I believe Samsung Kies can be used as a contact manager. I don't know of a way to install apps via a computer. If you can download the apk of the application, copy that to your phone and using a file manager install them from there.
Kies: http://www.samsungapps.com/about/onPc.as?COUNTRY_CODE=GBR&LANGUAGE_CODE=ENG
If you don't have a wireless access point in your house you can still create one "virtually". There is lots of free/paid software for windows XP and up that will basically turn your laptop's wifi chip into what the phone see as an access point. Most these apps are really easy to use requiring no computer knowledge to set up. Just google virtual access point (insert windows version here).
As to the second question export your contact list on your nokia to a memory card as a .vcf. Insert said memory card to your galaxy s2 open contact list click the menu button and press Import/export afterwards choosing the approperiate option. Alternative would be to export your contacts to something like outlook(windows) adress book (mac) and use it as a hub to sync back the info to your new device

Best way is export from your Nokia, then import into your Gmail account using the computer. Then your contacts will sync automatically.
I'm a Nokia user too. Welcome to android, a whole different experience .
Download is to phone not PC .

Hi - I am not sure if your problem is solved or not. I have a Nokia 5800 and I selected the option (markall) and send via bluetooth. I had about 500 contacts and they were transferred without a problem.
The convoluted way of doing it is Sync using Ovisuite which syncs to Outlook. Use Go Contact Sync (Free). Syncs perfectly. U can keep Go Contact sync running so that it syncs any updates to the outlook.
Hope this helps. Sorry if you have already tried all these.
I'm trying to copy contact from my sim to Atrix but it failed with error message 'Import Error - no contacts were imported. An error occurred.'
With 4.1.57 or 4.1.83 SBF, i can't import contact at all. But if 4.1.26, all contacts were copied as expected. Please help me. thanks
hi,
I was running Andriod 4.0.4 jelly-bean(nexus) on my Galaxy S II GT-I9100. I saved contacts using "Backup contacts" app from store. It saved contacts as ".csv" file. Now I switched to Android 4.0.4 ICS for galaxy S II GT-I9100. this requires a ".vcf" file to recover contacts.
so, here're question:
1. Can I convert .csv file to .vcf file (please state a simple solution) ?
2. Can they be recovered?
3. is there a restoring app which could read a .csv file and load contacts to my phone?
Thanks (in advance).
Why would you need or think you need to do any of this? Your google account automatically backs up your contacts and restores them to device upon adding account to device.
There just isnt any real need to backup/restore with CSV.
However if you insist..

el-O-el for link
I have almost half of them restored via google. but I lost loads too. The .csv file when opened in Microsoft Excell Shows those missing contacts.
)
BTW: I found my answer. Just to help some peeps like me (because there are several awkward solutions on internet) the solutions is pretty simple.
you can upload your CSV file to goole from your computer and sync any of your phone again. they will be restored.
Cheers.
Hi everyone!
I've bought a new phone and I was trying to get in this device the whatsapp messages from the older phone, without sucess...
I've the same whatsapp version on both phones. On the older phone I've done a backup both locally (internal storage) and to my google drive account.
I've placed the whatsapp databases and media from my old phone into the same folder on the new one.
After installing whatsapp, on the part that asks for recovering messages, it recognizes the database and media on the internal storage but everytime I've tried, it blocks on 41% and then an error appears. After that, it tries to import from gdrive but it also fails...
Can anyone help me please? I didn't want to put in trash all those messages
Any idea? I don't know what to do have the messages even having 4 backup files and the backup on the gdrive... And with so many attemps, I had to wait 24h to get the verification code. I don't know how times I'll be able to try to reinstall whatsapp since each one of the attemps, the time to receive the verification code doubles :/
