Nope. But you can use the HTC method to root. You will still need to jump through a few more hoops if you want to flash kernels, but just getting root is not too hard from what I hear.

the difference between eng hboot and ship hboot? I need to unroot and s-on but i dont know if i have the eng hboot
It's a good idea to just use the latest RUU before unrooting, that way you know for sure everything is how it needs to be.

The easiest way I can think of would be to compare the version numbers it shows at the top of the bootloader screen.
The second way which comes to mind would be to examine the type of information it dumps from certain commands. This is probably a less than ideal approach.

I don't think we can update radios as of yet on hboot 1.5. That would require s-off.

You gotta relock run the 2.17 ruu the unlock ,flash recovery and superuser that's the only way
Sent from my PG86100 using xda premium
that sucks. Do yall know if it is worth updating to the latest radio.
It's is if you plan on flashing new roms plus the 2.17 update its a lot better running

Engine h-boot and revolutionary h-boot

I currently have the eng h-boot I ran revolutionary many months ago and then flash the eng h-boot. My question is this can I flash back to the revolutionary h-boot without running revolutionary and will I lose s-off? I tried searching but I'm on the xda app and could not find what I was looking for. Thank you in advance for any help

I don't know about getting back to the revolutionary hboot, but you can get back to the hboot that's almost the exact same as revolutionary, hboot1.4, by flashing a pg86img.zip through your bootloader. If you haven't had any issues with the ENG bootloader, there's no reason to need to change it though. It's up to you.
here's a link to both the hboot1.4 and eng hboot (just choose the one you want to download, both of them are in first post) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192306

If you are S-OFF and the bootloader says LOCKED, you aren't really locked.
S-OFF, is S-OFF.
I'm assuming you used the wire trick?
If so, then it's normal for it to say locked.

man s-off is way more important than an unlocked bootloader s-off lets you overwrite over data , system and boot partition , u can flash any custom rom but just making a full wipe and flash the zip file no bootloops no need to downgrade ur hboot and no to unlock the bootloader , once u achieve s-off u can do whatever u want

Download the ROM.
Boot into Recovery.
Wipe all Data.
Flash the ZIP.
All is good and done.

Eng hboot 2.27?

i was wondering if there is an eng hboot 2.27 or a patched version that allows fastboot commands? i like my bootloader to say locked but had to unlock it after upgrading my firmware.

Yup. I'm watching unlimited.io like a hawk.

will you post something when/if there is one available?
Honestly, I found a locked s-off hboot to be sufficient. The only thing I can't do is flash recovery, so I keep TWRPs PH98IMG.zip on hand. Fastboot isn't needed that much after s-off.

I use fast boot frequently actually. Much easier imo. I know there are ways around not having to use fast boot commands but it can be a pita. Don't matter really since I unlocked my bootloader and i can get it to say locked again.

you can use fastboot commands you just have to be unlocked through htcdev.

you need an eng hboot to do fast boot commands. thats why they are still using 2.25 and not 2.27

i wonder what they did from 2.25 to 2.27. idk if the GSM ability needed something in hboot to make our phone a global phone or not.
If there are any devs out there that want to chime in, im all ears. i want to know what the difference is if they know.
