After downloading the Android Market 3.3.12 APK File, you need to copy it from your computer using your USB cable to the root folder (straight to your SD card) of your SD in your device.
After this open the APK file which you placed in the SD card so that you can then install the latest version of Android Market Place. Replace the vending app (Market) - your current market, by Installing the latest version 3.3.12 you dowloaded and copied to your SD card - overwrite your current market basically Please note that just in case it prompts you to select the option of “Unknown Sources” then you need to select that under menu>settings>applications>manage applications>check install apps from unknown devices.
So, once the installation is done, you will see a message that says “Application Installed” , so then select “Open” to open it, and then you need to click on “Accept” tab to proceed and be able to use the market (you will only need to click accept once, and not need to do it every time you use the market).

Bro, these market 3.x versions are always network hungry. they always take more bandwidth than the old market. so i always revert to the old market. another matter is these need broadband connection, i have gprs so it is very sloow. running the old market downloads the apps better than the new one.
any suggestions?

I take it your using it on the same device - X10 mini Pro...? It's capable of HSDPA data (nicknamed 3.5G, the next step up from 3G connectivity). In that case, if you are only getting GPRS connectivity (which is very slow), then it would seem that you are either not within close enough range of a mobile phone mast/tower ; or that the mobile phone masts/towers in your area aren't capable of transmitting HSDPA data. That's my best guess

Your best guess was quite right brother, (yes i am using the mini pro u20i)
but i am coming back to 3.x because of some duplicate downloads of my 2.x version. and it is making things even frustrating. and i lost 100+mb's just downloading angry birds 20+ times. it multiplied like its gone mad! i dont know but that is what was going on the whole night. now i came to update the market and get something good.
And yes i know about 3.5G and all the stuff (nothing new) but as im on a tight budget i have to stick to gprs because 3G here where im living is quite expensive. so that is why i got to stay with gprs. and looks like the new market doesnt like it.
im sorry for that comment. (im not putting you down, but those are my facts)
INFO: The website you have posted doesnt give the direct link but instead redirects to the main site. can you please fix it?
EDIT: The second link works! sorry
THANKS!

wow must have "sh*t on me" stamped on me.

Ok....very frustrating morning. A simple task as sending a torrent from me evo to my vibrant and have had nothing but headaches. The attachment sent but can't be touch in the gmail app on the vibrant running eclair. I can't update gmail thru the market cuz they're idiots. Wth? Why isn't there an update avail for it? Any assistance please. I can't update my firmware cuz the vibrant isn't activated. The Rom manager only gives me one Rom avail for the vibrant.
Thanks in advance....now I got to go get rounded before the hulk comes to play....so frustrated! Lol
Sometimes if I can't download a file with my email, I go through my browser to mail.google.com and it will download the attchment.
[Q] If the vibrant isn't activated can you even access the market or the web?
download ASTRO FILE MANAGER FROM MARKET go to settings scroll down all the way check option allow download , np . ( downlaod astro file manager from any site if not market paste it on your sd and run it)
Ya I saw ppl resorted to browser download but what's the point of having the app for convenience. Yes insured unknown app DL was enabled, still no gmail attachment DL. Guys has no one ever dealt with this? Why isn't there an update? How can i bypass this? My vibrant phone isn't activated to network but still usable as a tablet along side my HTC evo. Never had any issue like this before.
i have not have problerm downloading thing that are less than 5 mb not sure about about goin above it
and i download full roms on my phone from web pages

Sorry but this is for downloads. My issue is gmail and attachments...but thanks.
Ok after having to go to system panel to find any SW vers since no body thinks of these scenarios. I have v1.3 (r130) I try to search in tmo market no luck but HTC market has v2.3.2. Wth! This is why a company who depends on ad revenue only shouldn't be counted on for assistance and follow thru....ranting sorry. Thanks for the help again

Knock on your provider/OEM door - Google is not responsible for whatever OEM/carrier does with its OS.
Ummm ya they do. Sprint don't go in and add restrictions, its Google on be half of Sprint. Obviously there is a bug some where. Is there really no assistance on this? Feel like Samsung dev has been neglected. I doubt Samsung will direct exactly to the apk file. And if youve managed to speak with Google, you are of the divine! Cuz those fully automated omnipotent bastards are of no help!
Seriously? There is no way to correct this gmail problem? Just never gonna have attachments? I know if anybody had this issue there would be a post of some kind, but search has turned up nothing. What is the current version of gmail for vibrants? thanks for help guys
because torrents arent meant to be on cell phones... probly why gmail wont do it, jus use a file manager like they said above, and the carriers do lock down the OS... thats why we had to wait for tmo's froyo instead or google or sansung's
Hmmm helpful.... thanks guys : /

Finaly got a fully working market (2.3.2) (all apps shown).. somehow.

So, after a bit work working and jerking, i actually got my Nook to show everything on the market; sad thing is, i can't say exactly what step did it. But i know overall what i tried, so i can at least mention here...
The first thing first - 2.2.11 and 2.2.7 are out of date. The newest is 2.3.2, and there are some great customized versions here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957331
From here, i did a couple of things:
1) Did the standard clear market cache, force close, clear framework data, force close
2) Mounted /system and pushed Vending
3) Fixed permissions (on this, i went overboard, and basically did a chmod 777; but i am sure it doesn't really need that)
4)reboot
5) try to install it a few times (each install failed)
6) Use market enabler, with t-mobile (US) (i ended up buying the key, so i can fake it always on boot)
7) a couple more reboots in there
All said and done, the themed market finally showed up, and even better, EVERYTHING that was once hidden is there. Flash, Angry Birds, Dolphin.. all accessible. Even better, market.android.com now shows the nook, and doesn't say that my device is not able to run whatever. The website itself shows:
Unnamed Device LogicPD Nook Color (zoom2) T-Mobile February 17, 2011 February 16, 2011
Anyway, ill try to answer questions as people have them, but it looks like with the newest market, and (maybe) the faker, we can get full market access.
Well not sure how to get it working, did the easy try with just trying to install the .apk , but it says something about a problem parsing the file or something. I am new to android so not sure how to do the other stuff you talked about. I have root explorer btw.
Hmm.. when trying to install, i didn't run into any parsing errors - it just said it couldn't install.
For Froyo only?
Saw the framework data clear cache which is not seen in Eclair. Just checking.
I found this app that makes the market work with all the apps showing up. It's called MarketAccess. I couldn't find it in the android market, but you can download it here h t t p://amip.org.ru/android/MarketAccess. I have been using the T-Mobile US setting and it seems to work.
Interestingly the site claims MarketAccess is a complete rewrite of MarketEnabler. Not sure whether that's a good thing or not (yet). However, the site does detail why the rewrite was done and what was changed to a degree. Sounds good anyway from the bits I read.

[Q] Barnacle Wifi Tether

Hey guys. I made a mistake, here is what happened. I had ROOTed my phone a while ago and downloaded Barnacle. It was working flawlessly. My phone started acting up so i had thought to exchange the phone for another one, so i unrooted it and removed all the rooted apps i had on it. I didnt exchange the phone because it isnt giving me random reboots and the battery isnt getting really really hot when what i think its charging but it really isnt. I decided to keep it obviously and i just rooted right now. I go to download Barnacle from the market site and i am not allowed to click on my device that i have listed because "this app isnt allowed by my carrier" or something along those lines. Is there a way i can still get this app??
Thanks in advanced
From market, search and install "Market Enabler". Use that to change your market region to Telstra (Australia). Now you can search in market for Barnacle and be able download/install it. After that, revert back to your original market region with market enabler.
Thank you VERY much sir. Worked perfect. So what else can i do with this Market Enabler app?
Glad that it worked
I have no idea what else you can do with it since this was the only reason I used that for myself. Basically if AT&T removes a particular program from their market, you can search for other providers' market with this app and install the program.

Just wanted to throw this out there. With a lot of apps made for rooted phones you can usually download the apk right from their respective websites onto your phone and use the built in file manager to install them. That's how I got Barnacle anyways.

Well, here's the thing. If it's not already listed as a compatible app for your phone than it won't link to the market regardless. It would work just as well to check the website probably once a month for updates, just as you would have to do with the market enabler. But if you use the website, you could get your hands on some beta versions ahead of time.

But I digress, it's really up to the user what they want to do. I was merely just pointing out a different option.
Thanks, I learned something today
I used market enabler method because I though it would update automatically, which apparently isn't the case.

Well, I'm not entirely sure if you can just switch providers to enable updates through the market but I would assume it would still need to be done manually.
I just loaded it from the Barnacle site, which worked well...
Ditto, Thank you for this thread... I was looking for a good wifi tethering app. Now if only AT&T could get their act together.
Anyone using this app got a letter or text from ATT?

Need For Speed Shift

I have Chainfire, and I have the APK but I have no idea how to get the extra game data to download. I tried changing my build prop but that didnt help. Does anyone know how to make it download the data or where I can download the data. Every Google search I did returned downloads for the data but they all said the files had been deleted.
It works for me now with the new update from the game.

Not sure if this will help, but this is how i was able to get it to work.
If you (or anyone you know) has an android phone, install the apk. to the phone. Update the app if it isnt already updated. Donwload the data. Then, move the data from the phone SD card to your Nooks SD Card. It should be saved under Android-data-com.eamobile.nfsshift_na_wf.
I will say that after I did this, i had to reset my Nook to get the app to notice the data, but it works fine now.
Hope that helps.

This is because his phone has a PowerVR (like the NC) gpu while yours probably has a qualcomm or nvidia. You need the correct type of sd card data.
I bought this an was really enjoying Shift until I had to re-image the NC.
Now, I have an odd issue. In the Market, I can't even see NFS Shift. However, on my other NC, I can see NFS Shift and can download again if needed.
How do I get my re-imaged NC to see it in the Market to re-download?
Thanks!

The android market is a fickle thing. I flashed the same ROM (CM7n253) to multiple Nooks. Only one of them won't allow me to download Google Earth because it's "incompatible." The only difference between the devices is that I assigned them unique IMEIs. I put "Blood and Glory" on my NC and I was going to put it on the others only to find that it doesn't show on the market. Checked market website and sure enough it's listed as "incompatible". Checked my NC and now it's listed as "incompatible" too. Good thing it's a free app, I just titanium backed it up and loaded it on the others. I really wish android market had an advanced mode where you could ignore it's "compatibility" settings.
I'd also like to have a way to gift games (a la steam) cause I would have bought a lot more at the holiday sale if I could have just emailed the codes or had it open on their markets.
apk and data from a Droid X
I installed the apk from my Droid X (which I purchased) along with the data but when I attempt to start the game I get an error message that says "Error (Airplay v4.3.10 [2599558]) S3E_DEVICE_PHONE_NUMBER: This device don't have a phone number!".
Thoughts anyone?
UPDATE: The game starts after I click off that error message. However, even though the game will see the data from my previous game play from my Droid X (money, experience points, etc) it still displays the message "If you want to purchase the full game." even though the copy off of my Droid X was purchased. It also doesn't let me change tracks either so I'm stuck on the Tokyo one.

[Q] Radio.com APK?

I'm trying to listen to my favorite radio station from my childhood, but can only get them on Radio.com. If I listen in the browser window, I can't do anything else on my Nook, as the music stops when I leave the browser window.
Radio.com is available for free in the Market, but Nook Tablets aren't compatible. Does anyone have an APK I could sideload?
Thanks!
10 minutes on Google etc. yielded this link. http://www.umnet.com/download-software/15939-Radiocom_v10_Free
Thanks! I spent quite a bit of time on Google last night, looking for this, and was only able to find it on FirstLoad, but they wanted my credit card information to download it.
Pls let us know if it installs and performs to your liking.
It installed fine and runs, but stops playing after a little while. Not sure yet if it's a connection issue or an app issue. I'm using my wifi at work, which isn't always reliable. I'll know better when I try to use it at home.
I'll update this weekend.
UPDATE: So, I'm thinking it's definitely a connection issue, as it's been playing now for a couple of hours with no hiccups. I'm pleased, because I'd read really horrible things about it. As it's the only game in town for listening to WCBS-FM in NYC, though (and I'm in Albany), I had to try it. Glad I did. Thanks again!
UPDATE 2: 4:00 PM, and still going strong. Awesome!
Does anybody have the apk file available without having to download and install "download manager?"
I didn't have to download that, and I don't even know what it is. Per the instructions at the page listed above, I went to m.umnet.com and entered 615939 in the code field.

Thanks, that took care of it. I transfered to the SD card and installed with Root Explorer (which I use to browse eventhough my NT isn't rooted). When I view files this way, I'm given the option to install. Looking at it through the NT My Files doesn't give an install option.
I got it installed and all it does is force close. 1.4.0 rooted.
Using Tune In Radio and it works well.
