In this post i will try to put the latest OTA from Sony's servers, meanwhile they are all encrypted and the decryption is being done in the recovery kernel.
You can pick the right ota for you by looking at build.prop file.
For example if you have the following line:
Code:
ro.build.description=nbx03_010-user 3.2.1 THMAS0042 0042.004 release-keys
You need the nbx03_010 XXXX-004 update, where XXXX is the android version.
If you cant afford bricking your device, dont try any of those updates
Full OTA 3.2
nbx03_001 0035-001
nbx03_001 11000-001
nbx03_002 0035-002
nbx03_011 11000-002
nbx03_021 0033-005
Incrementals:
nbx03_001-ota-incremental-0035.001-from11000.001
nbx03_016-ota-incremental-0035.003-from11001.003

Hi,
In the UK if you go to settings/about tablet/system update you will be prompted to download v3.2.1 (release 2)
this will then install and give you Kernel 2.6.36.3 [email protected]#1
Build number THMAS0032400
I did not check if these have changed. other than 3.2.1
Seems ok so far but only checked email and xda.
I have STGP111/de
3.2.1 release2
Kernel 2.6.26.3 integ-build 5#1
Build-number THMAS0072400

Model:ST001
Full package 3.2
Full OTA package 3.2.1
Incremental update from 3.2 to 3.2.1
Model ST002(wifi?)
Full OTA package 3.2.1
Full OTA package 3.2
Model ST003(3g?)
Full OTA, not sure what version
Incremental update to 3.2.1
Edit: I added few more updates, not 100% sure which exact model they are for.
There are 3 products (ST001,ST002,ST003) and another 3 digits which say which region.
mine is (ST002_001)- which is wifi & US region.
By trying to update with higher version and different region a new temporary file region.prop is being generated in the recovery partition and being validated against the system.
Special thanks to condi.

Here you are. Hope this helps!
ps: I suppose you can push the contents of the folder using ADB, in order to recover from the bootloops caused by Font Changer? As long as you can find a way to access root contents you should be good to go?
hi friends,
as far as im concerned - now we've got opportunity to reflash encrypted retail flash files! - or even downgrade?
Before it was impossible - recovery was comparing version from build.prop and canceled update if version in tablet was equal or higher than in flash.
Now all we need is to modify build.prop - with text editor or free app - "build.prop Editor" - and update should go through??

from the first post earlier i downloaded this.

That's all what i know
May be we need 3.2 full package
sent via awesome aRc (rooted 2.3.4)
can anyone provide us a complete dump of the system in update.zip format?? i have a 16g 3g tablet (spgt114)..thank you..
i think it's not possible because the recovery can install the original encrypted signed update.zip.
And we can't encrypt and sign.
well then, i must wait for a custom recovery..

Can you reconfirm the exact process that you followed, what was the condition, and what did you achieve? Because you lost me a bit near the end. Did you manage to successfully downgrade and then re-upgrade or am I missing something here? And is your method achievable for bricked (ie bootloop) devices?
Another finds guys!
-----------------------------------------
If anybody want to get his present firmware ota-zip then its very easy:
1) edit build.prop - change "ro.sony.build.incremental" value to some lower, few ones to zeros.
2) reboot your device,
3) 'available update' message will appear - click ok, download - wait for finish - but DONT click update!,
4) after download finished - just go to /cache/ota/ and copy 'signed-nbx.....zip' file
-----------------------------------------
Second news: I've managed to flash 1st update.zip from recovery - not through ota update app Just changed version like above, and flashed the same version. Of course root disappeared. But its another good step.
recovery.log below:

Also some interesting thing - when correct update zip is being updated, then in /tmp/ appear some files:
Code:

pull: building file list...
pull: /tmp/recovery.log -> ./recovery.log
pull: /tmp/nfx_daemon_flash.txt -> ./nfx_daemon_flash.txt
pull: /tmp/random -> ./random

[COLOR="Red"][B]pull: /tmp/update_binary -> ./update_binary

pull: /tmp/old_packages.xml -> ./old_packages.xml
Two interesting ones in red one Possible vulnerability?? Attached.

PS. btw - if you want to mess with system/fonts etc., and you're affraid of brick/bootloop, then just change build.prop version value to lower, download ota zip, disable ota update notifications - and you have saved 'backdoor' to reflash/fix your device if something goes wrong!!

Mate, mediascape isnot in the apps folder, how to restore?
that is old method though ? new method does not need device Id and is simpler. it also gives FULL r2b...020 rom rather than just baseband like old method
new method is as simple as flashing the uk 016 rom to your phone and then running jerpleas brand new step 2 and 3 files.
Hi, ive come accross 2 problems, first I have two device numbers in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\U SB\VID_0FCE&PID_ADDE. One ends in 1 the other 2, what one do I use. Rebooted pc & phone and still two!
Second, when I start "X10flash.bat" it says this:
'java' is not recognised as an internal or external operable program or batch file.
Any ideas?

I just did the latest root (three step one) and it seems to have worked. But my X10a is not a X10i and why is it showing I have the build number of R1FA016. I thought this was supported to flash the newer build on the phone.
Also, should I wait for X10a instructions?

Try re-installing your Java. It worked for me/my Rogers X10a
Download the offline installer from here:
http://javadl.sun.com/webapps/download/AutoDL?BundleId=39494
It'll say that Java is installed, but you want to re-install it. Once it's done re-installing, restart your computer and it should work.

This should work:
./adbmac push psneuter /data/local/tmp

What OS and software are you running? I had the same problem on Ubuntu 10.10 x64, but was able finish the process by completing it by hand. If your brave enough to use the command line to do the process, I can provide the steps.
Please do, I have most of it down.
su, busybox, Superuser are installed and permissions set, but I still get permission denied when I type "su". What am I missing?

Could you? I have this same problem trying to root on my mac.
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
I basically have this:
./adbmac push psneuter /data/local/tmp
./adbmac push su-v1 /sdcard/
./adbmac push su-v2 /sdcard/
./adbmac push busybox /sdcard/
./adbmac push Superuser.apk /sdcard/
./adbmac shell
$ busybox chmod +x /data/local/tmp/psneuter
$ /data/local/tmp/psneuter
# exit
./adbmac remount
./adbmac shell
(the following 3 steps may fail which is OK)
# mv /system/bin/su /system/bin/su.bak
# mv /system/xbin/su /system/xbin/su.bak
# mv /system/xbin/busybox /system/xbin/busybox.bak
# busybox cp /sdcard/su-v* /system/xbin
# cd /system/xbin
(try to execute both su-v*, whichever works keep and renamed to su. For this example we'll assume su-v2 is the correct su)
# rm /system/xbin/su-v1
# mv /system/xbin/su-v2 /system/xbin/su
# busybox cp /sdcard/Superuser.apk /system/app
# busybox cp /sdcard/busybox /system/xbin
# busybox chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su

In this steps you put up previously, you missed remount the /system partition rw.
Also, what OS & software are you guys using? I'm curious to find out what is causing this problem, so we can correct it in SuperOneClick.

Whoops, that slipped by. In any case, you can check what /system is mounted on by checking /etc/mtab.
Still getting permission denied when I type su
How are you using su directly?
Also, have you installed superuser and root checker from the market?
Add these steps to the end:
# chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
# chmod 0755 /system/xbin/busybox
# reboot
When the phone is up, adb shell back in
Unlock the phone
Type su in the console
Accept the Superuser prompt
I am now rooted
This should work:
./adbmac push psneuter /data/local/tmp
./adbmac push su-v2 /data/local/tmp
./adbmac push busybox /data/local/tmp
./adbmac shell
$ busybox chmod +x /data/local/tmp/psneuter

# busybox chmod 0755 /system/xbin/busybox
# busybox chown 0.2000 /system/xbin/busybox
# exit
$ exit
./adbmac install Superuser.apk
./adbmac reboot
I've noticed that the phone doesn't like when you call reboot from the terminal on it.
Also, put the instructions in the first post for anyone in the future.

Perfect, thanks!
Might want to update chmod command for /system/xbin/su from 06755 to 6755. I found that after copy 'n pasting these, /system/xbin/su wasn't suid and sgid so it would still give the permission denied error when trying to run su from adb shell.

I can confirm this, typing `chmod 06755` doesn't work for me.
Is there a reason we need to set the sgid bit as well?
Probably doesn't need setgid but I left it since it was part of the original instructions.

what should i do? i am using ubuntu 10.10..thanks for your help...
I have an LG Optimus V, which I am trying to root.
My desktop is a Linux Mint 10 LXDE system, and I think ADB is set up properly, because it has been working fine with my nook color.
I was following directions here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=935312
When I try to use SUperOneClick, it freezes up at detecting device (I have debugging enabled, and took the sd out.) Since that wasn't working, I tried to root the device manually, following these instructions:
Code:
./adbmac push psneuter /data/local/tmp
./adbmac push su-v2 /data/local/tmp
./adbmac push busybox /data/local/tmp
./adbmac shell
$ busybox chmod +x /data/local/tmp/psneuter
$ /data/local/tmp/psneuter
# exit
$ exit
./adbmac remount
./adbmac shell
# busybox mv /data/local/tmp/su-v2 /system/xbin/su
# busybox chmod 06755 /system/xbin/su
# busybox chown 0.2000 /system/xbin/su
# busybox ln -s /system/xbin/su /system/bin/su
# busybox cp /data/local/tmp/busybox /system/xbin
# busybox chmod 0755 /system/xbin/busybox
# busybox chown 0.2000 /system/xbin/busybox
# exit
$ exit
./adbmac install Superuser.apk
./adbmac reboot
When I try to do the step "busybox chmod +x..." I get a permission denied error. I am running as root on my linux box, but obviously just as a regular user in adb. Is there a chmod command I am missing?
Edit: Trying to get more info here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12467368#post12467368
My bootloader is locked and i recently had my phone rooted with CWM on .42, having installed with SE tweak installer. But i have updated to the newest firmware and either the SE tweak installer is not working for ICS, or i can't boot into recovery. I have spammed every key on the boot but it boots normally, so i think the tweak installer failed; Here is the log ---
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/*
rm failed for /data/local/tmp/*, No such file or directory
adb push "data/install_cwm" /data/local/tmp/install_cwm
adb push "data/recovery.tar" /data/local/tmp/recovery.tar
adb push "data/chargemon_alter" /data/local/tmp/chargemon
adb push "data/sh" /data/local/tmp/sh
adb push "data/charger" /data/local/tmp/charger
adb shell "chmod 777 /data/local/tmp/install_cwm"
adb shell "su -c '/data/local/tmp/install_cwm'"
/system/bin/sh: su: not found
adb shell rm /data/local/tmp/*
--
There is also a root method for ics which i have tried with no luck... I think its Rootv5.
Can anyone help me get these on my phone. It is completly stock generic Europe
These tweaks are only for Gingerbread for now.
Sent from my Xperia Live using xda premium.
I am trying to make a simple shell script and I am getting constant errors.
So i made a test.sh file and saved it in /data because /sdcard is excuetable protected.
The shell file contains:
#!/system/bin/sh
cd /sdcard
mkdir test
su -c "rm /data/test.sh"
echo Done!
So then I typed the command chmod 777 /data/test.sh
I also tried chown root:shell /data/test.sh
And then /data/test.sh and it returned: tmp-mksh: /data/test.sh: No such file or directory
So then I tried running: sh /data/test.sh and it returned:
No such file or directoryrd
Done
I even tried executing the script from a root shell interface but still no luck same result as above.
Forgot to mention I am running 4.4.4 on a moto g that is rooted and has busybox installed.
