Having a slight issue. Trying to download songs through Google Music (Market) while on Nexus Prime 360 V1.6 (MIUI 2.3.7). I am not able to download any music. The Market gives me an error "Error Retrieving Information From Server".
Any idea why? I've wiped Market Cash and tried again, even re-installed Google Music.
Really would like to use some of the new features Google offers.
Thanks guys,
Same here I'm running miui LE. I wonder if they are blocking root users.

I've been talking to an Android engineer. He says they are having a few issues with the Market, check out and Music working together. Perhaps its that? I don't know. He's going to look into my case specifically. I know I can login on the PC, but that defeats the purpose. If I'm doing that, I can just dl and transfer music over.

Has anyone been able to successfully install the Google Music app from either the Music beta site or from the market?
It does not appear in the Market for me and the Music beta site says my device is incompatible. Yet, I got a hold of the .apk and it installs and runs fine.
So is this something peculiar to our CM7 ROMS or is Google just saying that a stock Eris can't run it and blocks the install?
Google Music Beta requires at least 2.2 and since they know the latest version for the Eris was an OTA 2.1 upgrade, the Eris is technically deemed "incompatible" according to the Market.
BTW, I also have the latest Music 3.0.1 installed and it works perfectly fine as a player and with my Beta account as well.
Just search XDA for the apk and it will work fine. At least it does for me like everyone else says.

My phone one morning all of a sudden had the new Market that could rent movies. Since then I've flashed CM7 with the 06/13 gapps and have the old Market again. I am wondering how to coax it to update again?
Since the new Market is for 2.2+ I'd like to get it on my gf's Froyo phone as well. A general solution is what I'm looking for I suppose.

Do not rent movies while rooted though, as you can pay for movies, but not watch them. This is because you can modify your framework to remove drm, and the content providers asked google to block root users from accessing movies.

Hey guys,
Just picked up my Note and loving it so far. I have one problem: I'm in Canada and cannot download google music in my market (I do have a fully functional google music account on my other CM7 phone). I've got the latest APK already transferred on, but cannot seem to install it with root explorer. It force closes when I try to install. How do I install google music?
Thanks for all your work!
Cheers
Answer
Whoops. I was trying music beta. I just found the new one: "play music" and it works. figured i should share...
I can't post the link but I just googled "play music apk" and it was the first one
Cheers
Try reading up on adb commands, even though root explorer is the short hand version of this. adb is still a really useful tool

Here is an older version of Google Music that is not tied to the Play Store, and works on the Fire HD without root. You of course need the Google login service working. It doesn't work the first time because it wants you to add an account and then complains the account already exists. But if you close the app then open it back up, you can choose the account that already exists.
My playlists popped right up and now I can enjoy all that music I bought!
I don't have much music yet on the N7 but it would be nice to have it available on the kfhd as well seeing that audio playback on the latter is very very good. And I also have a bluetooth headset as well when necessary to not bother surrounding folks.
Thanks for the tip!
I had to come up with a non-root method of playing the music because I spent a lot of time uploading CDs on my father's Google account for my mother to listen to on my father's Nexus 7. I am planning on giving her a Fire HD for Christmas, and of course I want her to be able to listen to all the music I uploaded for her!
I don't think Amazon and Google are doing anyone any good by not cooperating on Google Play. This is just insane. All the apps I bought on Google Play should be available on every device, not just the sanctioned devices.
Most useful info and file

Not sure how to do that. I don't have any tools for repackaging apks. I guess I could build it from source...

Hi
I have Google login services installed and it shows up in my installed apps, I have installed Google music from both here and from the 1mobile market app but neither version ask for my Google ID at any point so all I see is the one album that is on the device.
Any pointers gratefully received.
This is a new UK kindle fire, currently not rooted.
Hi, in my app we load a shared libary using "loadlibrary" call. After the update from the google play store app crashes becuase the app is unable to load the library, becuase the app is not able to find it. But when the user reinstalls the app everything works fine.
Can anyone tell how android looks for the library like location.
Please dont mind if this the wrong location for the topic.
Thanks
