Lockscreen that shows calendar - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Can anyone recommend a good lockscreen that will display upcoming calendar events? It also needs to have good battery life and preferably have a launcher to launch sms when you have one like the stock lockscreen.

AGILE LOCK! Mimics to an extent the htc sense lockscreen.
I'm a huge fan of it. While it doesn't 'hide' the text message option, and 'show' it with new text. It does allow for fast access to 4 apps of your choice, and it enables accessing the pull down status drawer (open new text messages) with the lock screen still active.
And for calender it allows you to use any widget of your choice. Here's mine:

Hands down one of the things I like the most in terms of usability.

How is battery life? My biggest concern is always battery life.
Thanks.

I second this, also smooth calendar is nice and clean.

Agile lock uses very little battery. Never noticed the difference.
Some have reported widget locker as causing battery drain issues but I think it's more likely it was app conflicts causing it. My wife's atrix has run a number of roms and never had a battery issue from widget locker. She really likes it.

1x1 Widget for Unread Exchange Emails

It is absurd to me that I cannot easily find a 1x1 widget that displays unread exchange emails, similar to the one that HTC provides for sense. I know of "Android 1×1 Ultimate Unread Widget", but that requires root, which obviously I don't have.
Does anyone know if this exists? I want to try an alternative launcher, but this one issue alone is preventing me from doing so. I must be able to quickly see at a glance how much unread work emails I have.

You can just use a regular application icon. It will show the unread count.

I don't think so. I'm using launcherpro and the icon does not show the unread count. Is there something I am missing?

But what if I don't want to use ADW?
EDIT: ADW notifier only works for K-9 mail. I don't use K-9, and in fact cannot because I'm on Exchange 2010.

Hd widgets for tablets

If your looking for a fully customizable clock, weather, settings widget for your tablets check out this app. It's 99 cents on the market. It is perfect because I customize my homescreen every couple of days when I get bored with it. Check it out.
https://market.android.com/details?id=cloudtv.hdwidgets
Here are some pics, many different options, colors and themes.
Thanks, I've been wondering when something like this would be developed.
You can make the background of these widgets transparent right?
Yep you can just brought it and looks great very easy to customise all aspects thanks for the tip to op

yes, every widget size has an option for transparent, black, white, grey, blue, glass, green, red and a few others. I loved the Asus weather widget but hated the very large location wording, I live in a town with a large name so the widget took up half my screen. I just love how many different ways you can customize this widget to go with any theme or wallpaper.
Pretty good app, especially for .99!

I found two bugs in it yesterday emailed the devs and update was released today which fixed it and they replied via email vey quickly so well worth the small price they are asking

another vote for this application
i bought .. provided some suggestions to devs and already received an email response ... excellent customer support
Widget "HD tablet Half Page" 4x7 shortcut: tap the date not open calendar.
Just wish it had better clock selection. I hates me a stylized "LED" digital clock, and what I hates worse than a stylized "LED" digital clock is a Sense-looking flip clock, and for right now, those are the only choices.
Just give me plain numbers please, no faking of ancient technology on a modern high-resolution LCD.
This thread sold me. Bought it and love it as well.

I'm using the launcher adw ex and that is one of the task bars. I just swipe down and it goes away. Swipe down again and it comes back. It's wonderful!

[Q] App for quick shortcuts to other windows?

Hi guys was wondering if there is this app out there that can do the following...
You know when you swipe left or right you go to different windows from the home screen. Is there an app or something that wil allow you to swipe up or down from the homescreen to go to the window to the left x2 or to the right x2. I'm basically trying to find a way to get to my other windows in just 1 swipe as opposed to 2. It might not be much but I would much prefer it that faster if possible.
Anyone know of anything that can do this for me?
I use the "pinch and pick" method. (At least that's what I call it.)
Or hit the Home button twice (or just once if you're already on the Home screen).
That's an interesting idea but I would assume it would have to be built into the launcher you're using. Like home screen replacement Apps have swipe up for this and down for that but I haven't seen them have an option for swipe up for page x.

Try an app called Wave Launcher. It's not exactly what you described as what you're looking for but may be another solution, it's a fantastic app! Here's a link for you:

Will that all eat up my battery a lot if I'm running stock everything non-rooted?
I'm really enjoying being non-rooted because surprisingly everything just WORKs. Battery life is great as I can get an entire 12-13 hour day out of it before it goes red.
Also...why Go Launcher? When I use to have it on my old Evo 4g whenever I would press the "home button" it would close Go Launcher and go back to the stock launcher...also...I have to use their own Friend widget (people widget) if you use it right? Or has that changed? When I used Go Launcher before the People widget I use to use from Sense disappears.
I'm completely stock.... Just download Wave Launcher and try it, if you like it then excellent, if you don't then uninstall... It's a free app so you lose nothing trying it. Good luck!

Stock unrooted, too. GO Launcher (like any alternate home app) doesn't allow the use of Sense Widgets but they have an alternative to most of them and the widgets are themeable. Battery usage is no more than usual and if you REALLY wanna squeeze all the juice you can from a charge, check out Juice Defender. And why GO Launcher? It takes the best parts of all the paid launchers (ADW, Launcher Pro, etc), improves on them, adds in even more functionality, offers tons of themes or the ability to create your own, and it's free! I use GO SMS, GO Contacts and GO Dialer, too. The GO Weather is borked though lol dunno why

The Best Screen Lock App

My wish is that someone would make a Screen Lock App and maybe some has, if not I think this a great idea, of course.
1. It must show any missed income calls, messages and emails.
2. Time and weather.
3. Circle when long pressed to swipe outside of circle to open.
4. Customizable App selection; the ability to add a few apps around the circle to choose from, but if not chosen swipe outside of the circle to opens.
5. Select a random picture everytime you turn on your phone from a directory of your choice.
I think that's a tall order my friend, but you can try Widget Locked and see if you get some or all of those things you're looking for...

Yes, WidgetLocker is great. It allows to add homescreen widgets on it. Plus, it has many themes to launch apps (ICS, Sense, iPhone).
I'd like to add more: Install "Tesla Unread" to get missed call, SMS and Gmail counts.
Yeah, Widget Locker pretty much does all of that minus Live Picture wallpaper.

You'll have to install Go Launcher EX to use it. Just to tweak lock screen usability, changing home launcher is an overkill..
I'm gonna suggest, as others here have, Widget Locker. I've always been running widget locker since I first had an android phone and have never used anything else because it does the job perfectly. Obviously, it's best feature is the customization available for it. Every few days I'm changing the layout of my lockscreen, just so it's something new

Verizon Note II Home Screens!!!

Alright, let's see what everyone is sporting for their home screens!
Here is mine:
I like a clean look. I don't like having contacts scattered all over the screen hence the invisible folder under the contacts widget. I find organizing everything into folders where each screen is its own sort of "hub" keeps away from the traditional scattered grid-icon approach and allows one to better enjoy the wallpaper.
For the Lock Screen I am using:
Widget Locker https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker&feature=nav_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDMsImNvbS50ZXNsYWNvaWxzdy53aWRnZXRsb2NrZXIiXQ..
The clock widget is from Ultimate Custom Widget https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=in.vineetsirohi.customwidget&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImluLnZpbmVldHNpcm9oaS5jdXN0b213aWRnZXQiXQ..
Using the Dark MotoBlur UCCW skin https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=darkmotoblur.uccwskin.dsaif&feature=search_result
Notifications are from Missed It! https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.igecelabs.android.MissedIt&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm5ldC5pZ2VjZWxhYnMuYW5kcm9pZC5NaXNzZWRJdCJd
The red unlock slider is the "RedLineMod" available through the Widget Locker app.
The "LED On/Off" button is a custom made Minimalistic Text https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=de.devmil.minimaltext&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImRlLmRldm1pbC5taW5pbWFsdGV4dCJd widget, and activates the LED through TeslaLED
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.flashlight&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS50ZXNsYWNvaWxzdy5mbGFzaGxpZ2h0Il0.
Everything else on the lock screen is a widget made through Minimalistic Text.
Home Screen:
I am using NovaLauncher in place of the stock launcher https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teslacoilsw.launcher&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS50ZXNsYWNvaWxzdy5sYXVuY2hlciJd
The main home screen with the clock, CPU usage, battery etc... is all made through Minimalistic Text. The phone / messaging etc.. icon is from the Minimal Text Theme icon pack https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=minimaltext.kyledesignedme.adwtheme&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsIm1pbmltYWx0ZXh0Lmt5bGVkZXNpZ25lZG1lLmFkd3RoZW1lIl0.
For the other screens I am stacking the Games, Contacts, Apps, and Media widgets made in Minimalistic Text on top of a black bar from Minimalistic Text (allow overlapping widgets in NovaLauncher settings)
The folder icons are replaced with custom made icons from Simple Text-Text Icon Creator https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.redphx.simpletext&feature=search_result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5yZWRwaHguc2ltcGxldGV4dCJd
Lastly, the invisible folder under the contacts widget is just a blank Simple Text icon.
The wallpaper I got from Zedge and modified, you can get it here: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/8864209/2012-12-02%2023.01.27.jpg

Obviously, I like a lot of customization. Here's what I'm using, in order from left to right, top to bottom:
Launcher: beanstown106's 5x4 custom stock launcher: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2026233
SystemPanel end all tasks widget
AudioManager small widget (minimal transparent white skin)
Temp+CPU V2 widget
Extended Controls widget
Beautiful Widgets smaller home widget (curved-blue-contrast clock skin + SkullGray weather skin)
- I chose that skin because of the font it uses, transparency is at full so none of the blue shows up.
Pure Calendar widget (transparent skin, all text colors set to white)
Launch-X Pro (Minimalist white icon pack, manual icon selections for apps with no matching icon)
Desktop Visualizer (Used to create the shortcuts with custom icons and text for the phone/gmail/sms/browser buttons in the stock launcher, also using the Minimalist white skin)
Not visible but I'm also using Home2 Shortcut to restore double pressing home to open an app (I use it to open gmail)
