Since there are many games that have this tag "Supports Xperia Play". I was wondering that if it would be possible to map the Xperia Play keys in Sixaxis controller so that we would be able to use our BT controllers to play those games that support xperia play controls.
Go to 'Preferences->Input Mappings->1st Controller mappings'. All the Xperia Play button mappings are at the bottom of the list and start from 'BUTTON_A' onwards.
Unfortunately games that require the touch pad will not be playable.
In a couple of weeks I will be adding support for 'touch emulation', which will allow you to create profiles that map from buttons to positions on the touch screen (including the analog sticks - N.O.V.A anyone?). Great what you can do with root access!
That would be great. Just one question. When I checked my device bluetooth mac address while bluetooth is on, it is different from the one that is shown by your app. Using the pc app to set the master control to the sixaxis controlled mac address does not seem to work.

The address shown in the app is the one to use. If that isn't working, I would suspect you may not be using an original Sony controller.

Downloaded a copy of Nova 2 for the Xperia Play
Mapped Sixaxis (0.3.1) to keys i thought would work
Playing Nova 2, (Up = right, Right = down, Down = Left, Left = Up FYI)
however i cant for the life of me figure out which buttons are for fire, etc. None of the other buttons seem to work to map the xperia play controls. Theres lots of xperia play games that already are looking for controller inputs, there should be an "xperia" profile that automatically sets all the default controls so we can play those xperia optimized games.

Well, first off, let me introduce myself, i used to be a apple user since the ipod nano 1g(got ipod touch 1st gen, iphone 2g, 3g, 3gs, 4, ipad 1, etc) but afer buying the galaxy S2, there is no turning back...Simply amazing hahah
Well, my idea is:
I can play using sixaxis controller on some games like emulators, etc...
BUT
What if we find a way to make Xperia optimized games to run on our galaxy s2 and achieve a way to map his buttons? We can build a dock on top of a play3 controller and we will have a homemade galaxy play haha
Just a idea, i dont have any knowledge regarding android systems...Would be great someone to shine a light on this...
Thanks in advance and sorry for my brazilian english hehe =)
uhmmm, most of the xperia play games can already be played on the sgs2 and even more cool games can be played on it that d not run on the play.
so i assume that there is hardly any common need for your request
I think playing is a lot better with REAL buttons than in screen gestures...I think you didnt read or just ignored what i said...
Anyway, Sixaxis got a upgrade and now its possible to map touchscreen gestures to the controller...one of the best apps ive ever bought...
But i'm still interested in what i'm saying...its not as accurate as xperia play...
you mean you want to play games on the sgs2 4,3" screen using a normal sixaxis controller?
Buy the sixaxis controller on the market, it let's you replace de touchscreen buttons by the buttons on your sixaxis controller, you just need to make a profile to every game you need, it even let's you give a button the swipe move, its a great feature

Really? Now read my second post.
@Topic
I'm willing to donate to whoever does this kind of port properly...
Dude I don't really understand what you mean.
Those ganes can already be played as the other guy said, and you can connect a sixaxis controller via bluetooth so what do you mean? You want the sixaxis wired into the phone permanently? What's the point? -it's be massive.
Just make a sixaxis game gripper out of thermal setting plastic or something ;p
Ohhhh I now see what you mean, I've been looking for a way to map sixaxis buttons to play buttons..
That way the buttons would work a lot better and you wouldn't need to coonstantly alter the keymap for different games..
In the sixaxis controller key settings it does have buttons like l2 and r2 but I don't know why, haven't tried them because the other buttons like square, circle etc aren't there.....
Your statement about the xperia games being playable on other android devices is false. That's what he means. I just downloaded a fighting game that was designed for the play, onto my infuse 4g and it recognizes nothing when I touch the screen. This is his idea. To get the sixaxis to work for these games in particular. If I'm wrong please say so. But so far as i can tell there are some games that are xperia play only, and those are the games he is talking about.
Anyone have a PS3 controller profile saved for the N64oid? I'm having a hell of a time coming up with a good config for Ocarina of Time =\
I'd greatly appreciate it!
I am running into the exact same problem.
Bonus points (and thanks) for anyone who has properly mapped either GTA III or Shadowgun THD also.
in shadowgun and gta III sixaxis works great for me but only when its connected via USB. When i connect it via bluetooth its mapped in a different way but i dont know how to fix it :/

here is the mapping for PS3 Sixaxis and Shadowgun via bluetooth. You will need sixaxis controller app, a sixaxis controller (obviously), usb cable and a pc.

Also, don't be afraid to get creative with mapping (it has been a while since I played zelda, so this may or may not make sense). For example, you can map the c-buttons to the right joystick or even the d-pad. The default configuration, I believe, has both joysticks and the d-pad mapped as the same keyboard keys, but you can change that within the sixaxis app (allowing for different mappings within n64oid).

It's just a kinda default layout I've been using. I don't think the two emulators I've used allow me to configure multiple input configs for the single controller . A and B on the L2 and R2 triggers works fine in my opinion, the only trouble button is the Z button as R3 or select aren't exactly great.
the issue ive been having is N64oid only sees both joysticks and the dpad as DPAD so you can only configure one of them, so I run out of buttons trying to configure everything using in Zelda

You are correct that it sees them (both sticks and the dpad) as DPAD [direction], but you can change that. The reason it sees them all as DPAD is that within the sixaxis app they are all mapped as dpad.
To make it so that you can map them separately within N64oid:
-Open the Sixaxis app
-Hit Menu > Preferences > Input Mappings > 1st Controller Mappings
-From there you can select any button on the controller (left, right, etc = dpad, analog 1 etc = left joystick, analog 2 etc = right joystick), and assign a keyboard key to them. It does not matter what you select, just don't use something that is already mapped (0-9 is used already, so use letters).
-Lastly, open the controller mappings within n64oid, select the n64 key you want to change and press the ps3 button you would like to use (you may see that it selects the letter you used, but that doesn't matter since it is mapped to the controller).
That should allow you to map the joysticks and dpad separately. Hope that helps! Enjoy!

Will SIXAXIS work with the SXS and a third party controller?
Like this one: Ebay link
Even tho it seller says: Compatible with Sony PS3 only.
My plan was to play the Playstation games on my tv with the hdmi cable and PS3 controller.
I don't think Sixaxis will work to be honest. But I also doubt there are any games that support it really...
The ps3 pad works with cable and livedock if on stock. And there is sixaxis app for rooted. Playstation suite is already compatible with the pad on ginger bread. When ics comes there will be native support meaning full controller with USB controller supported games like GTA3, shadowgun, onlive.

I can confirm Sixaxis app works well with Xperia S and with the right button mapping it also controls the games from PS store. So makes the perfect micro console.
Not sure when crash will come out as only came out on the other devices as a pre-installed freebe.

Only Root, Controller and App
Button mapping = while we are on Gingerbread you will have to change the button config 1 time in sixaxis settings (listed post below) for the playstation cert games. Or you can map button presses to screen if want (usefull for touch only games) . When we have ICS we will have full native controller support which means we will have the pad working fully sticks and everthing (eg GTA3 will control the same as if was on PS2)
Playstation Suite Mappings
All buttons are the obvious (left = left , L1 = L1) except these 4
Cross = Button A or D-pad center (d-pad center also works on all menus as enter)
Circle = Button B
Square = Button X
Triangle = Button Y
Xperia Play games mapping
Again all buttons are the obvious (left = left , L1 = L1) except these 4
Cross = D-pad center
Circle = Back
Square = X or Button X (cant remember which one)
Triangle = Y or Button Y (cant remember which one)
I've tested Sixaxiss controller.

Yes. But until ICS the sticks wont work as they should. You can either use a Sony Ericsson live dock (works with most USB pads), Or some low powered controllers should work with just an OTG cable.
For xperia s. Can use the app. to capture screenshot of game is........ please.
Once you get root you'll be able to use a Dualshock/Sixaxis controller, you need root for the pairing app see. Then it just runs as a regular controller, of if you want you can use it as an IME(bind buttons like a USB keyboard for compatibility with some emulators).
Execuse me.Which application can capture the screen of any games on xperia s (2.3.7) ?

Hi,
I am interested in gaming over my imito mx1 android tv stick, but unfortunately the rom is not installed with the required touch screen drivers! so we can't use six axis or gamekeyboard applications for games emulation
so I searched and think about any other temporary solutions to play but non of them had all what I want!
For example:
1) PS3 controller & Xbox is restricted to some games like gta, shadow gun, sonic episode II..
2) Droidmote also work for some with addition of some accelerometer games "although it didn't work on my xperia play but work with the mk808 remote application! I didn't know why" . But in overall, I am not comfortable to play with touch game pad, hard buttons is the best! ( Yes I know that I can use my xperia play game pad to play as an option in the droidmote but as I said this is for some games, not all)
3) Moga game pad is a good temporary solution I think because it can play some extra cool gameloft games, so I am thinking to buy one!
4) Off course, the best solution is to wait a "Hero Developer" how can introduce a new rom with implemented touch drivers!!!
But untill that time, I tried another solution that to make some configuration in the keylayout fils of the PS3 controller to emulate the keylayout of my xperia play, so by that I think that I will be able to control all xperia play optimized games on my imito mx1!! BUT OFF COURSE I DIDN'T SUCCEED BECAUSE OF MY RESTRICTED KNOWLEDGE IN THIS FIELD
So, I need your help and suggestions!
Thank you.

with the last versions of DroidMote Client and DroidMote Server, when you connect your hardware controller to the device with DroidMOte Client installed, you forwards the command of the hardware controller to DroidMote Server.
In this mode you can play also with all android multi-touch games with your hardware controller.
and with your harddware controller, you can press all buttons and axis simultaneously. (many touch points at server side.)
look the DroidMote Forum to understand all about DroidMote
with the same technique, and DroidMote Server for windows, you can play also all multi-touch windows 8 games
bye bye and look this:

Thank you for rresponse, I appreciate that and also I am appreciating your great application, but we still talking about many other games that not recognize all needed inputs from the droidmote client or in general from other gamepads like PS3 or Xbox !!
I want to know the real name of action of my xperia play buttons to use it for configuration other keylayout controller,
so for example, when I press x button in my xperia play with scan code 304 or circle button with scan code 305, this make the avater in gangstar rio jumb or chang weapons!!
becuase I put d pad center for the x button and back for circle button as a names function but with no success!!

this are all keyevent:
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/view/KeyEvent.html
and you must create / customize your keylayout in /system/usr/keylayout in this mode:
http://source.android.com/tech/input/key-layout-files.html
this is the same way you personalize DroidMote configurations file /system/usr/keylayout/droidmote.kl
if a game support a controller or a keyboard, you can do all that you want. with the keylayouts.
if not support keyboard or conttrollers you must use a touch profile.
this is valid for all, DroidMote, ps3 controller, xbox 360 controller and xperia play hardware controls.
Now, after long time of trying almost all common function keys, it seems nothing can control the gangstar rio as my experimental game! so by pressing all these keys, I can't get any movement after its installation on my imito mx1 android TV stick, although the same version is installed on my xperia play and it is fully customized on its gamepad.
So my question is, why I can fully control this game on my xperia play and can't get any movement with the same version installed on my imito mx1 tv stick?
Other question, is it possible to customize a game to work on a specific gamepad ( not a gamepad on specific game)
Thank you

Here's some good recommendations for you:
AirAttack HD
Anomaly Korea
Asphalt 8
Dead Space
Dead Trigger
Dungeon Hunter 4
Real Racing 3
Samurai II Vengeance
ShadowGun
All of the above titles can be either downloaded/purchased from Play store, except for Asphalt 8 (Which is not compatible with Z Ultra at the moment)
You don't really need to change build.prop device name in order to get Asphalt 8 - if you have a rooted phone.
I'm just getting Asphalt 8 to try it out, will definitely purchase it legally from Play store once it's available for Z Ultra.
If you have a dualshock3 controller & your phone is rooted, then you can purchase Sixaxis Controller app to map the buttons & use the dualshock3 controller instead.
I prefer to use dualshock3 controller because it's a hundred times easier to control, rather than using the touch screen input.
Hope the above info helps.

*cough* You don't need the Sixaxis Controller app on Sony phones. They support the PS3 controller natively. You only need an OTG cable (USB On-The-Go) - which is cheap, and then you just plug the controller to the phone, and once it's connected and synced, you can unplug it and use it.
This only works for games that supports controllers, so if you need to map the buttons, you'll need the Sixaxis app. When i think about it, just ignore the whole first part of this post. I could edit it, but i've written it and i'm not throwing it away, god damn it

Yes, the Z Ultra natively supports the dualshock3 controller.
All you need to do is to connect the controller to your phone via a USB OTG adapter.
After that, you can unplug the cables & the dualshock3 controller will work wireless. You can control the phone UI using the dualshock3 controller & it also works for certain android games that supports controller input.
However, there's a misconception among people thinking that all android games will work that way.
Unfortunately, that's not the case. Majority of the android games out there are designed with touch screen input in mind - meaning that they don't support any controller input at all.
The moment you load a game that does not support controller input, you will find that you can't use the dualshock3 at all. Although it is still connected to your phone via bluetooth connection but you can't use it inside the game.
That's why you need the Sixaxis Controller app to map the game's touch buttons to your dualshock3 controller, in order to use it inside the game.
Hope the above info clear things up.
While we're at it, if you use SixAxis Controller and you don't want to spend time mapping the controls, then just go to SixAxis Of Power or this thread. But it's pretty easy to make them yourself, so if you have some questions then just ask.
