For some reason part of my screen no longer responds to touch. Has anyone else had this problem or know why it's doing this.

Take a very close look at your screen. You may have a hairline fracture.
DINC|CM7|PROUD AMERICAN!
Yea same..
My screen isn't responsive in two areas - the general are where the "a" key would be, and the top right portion where you would usually press to install apps on the market.
This is probably due to something on my end, but I can't send it in b/c one of my water damage stickers are missing.
just my luck
Where it's unresponsive is clear of any scratches or anything. It's about a 1" section on the upper right.

Is it just my phone, but when I'm talking on the phone and my face is moist (sweat) from the hot weather when I try to click over or hang up it won't respond. I have to turn the screen off and turn it back on or wait til the person hangs up. Is anyone else having that problem or is it my phone?

Moisture is a touchscreens worst fear. Anytime they get wet they will do funny things. Just wipe it off on your shirt or whatever...
I do and I have a screen protector on. It still doesn't work. It doesn't be a lot of sweat jus a very little.

Screen protectors make it worse... for me it always has anyways. I'm a mechanic and use my phone all day, and even without a screen protector I haven't scratched the screen on my hero, shift, or this phone in the last two years I've had a touchscreen/smart phone. They make them pretty resilient, ya know.
Lol.. It may be my phone. Who knows.
I jus switched screen protector hopefully this one works.

phone wasn't submerged, but enough water got to it to cause the water seal to turn pink. I blew dried it and dumped it in rice and what not.
I attempted to start it up the screen had no discolorations and it booted riight up but everything was force closing while trying to enter the phone from the lock screen.
so I rebooted and the phone stays at the galaxy s2 screen.
i attempted a nandroid (I already have a saved nandroid) but wanted to backup this one since i'm not sure it syncd some of the contacts.
when attempting the nandroid i got an error during the backup portion of the data.
Does that mean i should just recover from my original backup or is thier anything i should be doing?
thanks
Um i think you might have to get a replacement phone..
When i had a iPhone i dropped it in my pool so i let it dray out for 2 years and now it works.
Though i have a Galaxy S II cause i love android and the thing doesn't break plus i spilled water on it and it works fine with no effects.
Get some 90% alcohol. Remove covers, battery, Sim cards, etc.. submerge the phone in it for 3-5 minutes to displace any moisture still trapped inside. Take it out, let sit and evaporate for 10-15 minutes. Place inside your oven at 125° for 4-6 hrs. Replace battery and fire it up. If it still won't boot then return for warranty as your humi-dots will now be white

No way.
If you're going to try this at least wait an hour before the oven. And be sure to preheat it.
I have baked Nokias back to life.

He means the humi-dots. Little white stickers that turn pink/red when a certain humidity level is reached..

Okay. Still at least preheat the oven so there isn't direct heat on the device which is much greater than 125.
And do the boards have a screen? Is that an issue?
Curious
Derrrrrr

ok everything seems to have worked. looks like my data was corrupted and restoreing worked...my only issue is with my volume down button, I have to apply either a lot of pressure or tapp hard repeatedly to get the volume to go down. Also my humi stuff is still pink. as i didn't want to take the phone apart.
any suggestions for the volume button and the humi?
I will thank everyone for responding to this thread
thanks again
Any residual moisture still trapped inside the board layers will slowly develop copper dendrites and kill your phone. The only way to stop the process is to bake it out. This will also dry out your humi-dots and turn them white again. It may work for now but in a couple months the problems will get worse.
Just my $.02
Edit: Check out metallic electromigration phenomena. Exactly the reason for humi-dots and not honoring warranties on phones exposed to excessive moisture..

i have to take the phone apart to bake it at 125? to make sure that is.
No , Remove your battery, Sim cards, sdcards and bake it without the back cover....

curious how this worked out. My wife dropped hers in the toilet like...a week ago. we've been doing the rice thing....
if we did this, how do you put the phone in the oven? won't it melt? scren up or down? on a cookie sheet? pizza stone? suggestions?
It's booting up now, but it gets REALLY hot on the back of the phone, (volme rocker) side, toward the bottom if you pop the back off the phone and look there, it's just below the circle that's molded into the plastic. it'll booth and run for a minute tops and then just turn off. this alcohol idea is intriguing to me.

My buddy has a photon with a strange screen glitch. Streaks that change between black and white are stuck on the screen from top to bottom. Reboot didn't help. These lines even remain visible during the boot animation. Tried booting into android recovery but it wouldn't even allow it. Had to battery pull. Any ideas what may be the cause?

Maybe the phone was dropped and knocked the digitizer connection cable loose perhaps.
MoPhoACTV Initiative
He said he never dropped it. Just woke up to the problem. The digitizer should be fine. Touch functions show no issues. Could it be a faulty lcd?
Sent from my LG-P999 using XDA
Ya it sounds its a bad screen. It needs to be replaced.
Sent from my MB855 using xda premium
Yeah, I'd have to agree on bad lcd also then.
MoPhoACTV Initiative
I'm not too sure about it being the lcd now. While rebooting it again the lines disappear during the boot image. Then the animation kicks in and the lines fade back onto the display. Also he said a random app shortcut showed up on his homescreen that he never seen nor does it show in the door. It's called hand market

Has anyone ever seen anything like this?
I've had the phone for about 2 weeks and a couple of days ago started noticing these blotches on the screen. I have no idea what caused it or if there is anyway to fix it.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Sent from my D6503 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I don't see any screen blotches. Maybe it's a hardware fault.
Do you have a screen protector? I use the nillkin tempered glass and I've got a few blotches under it, highly annoying as they didn't appear till a week after I had put it on :-/
Thanks guys. I just realized it is water damage. Took it into the pool to take pictures of my kids yesterday and then saw the screen issue last night and this morning I saw water droplets inside the camera lens. Will see if I can dry it out as the phone seems to be working fine otherwise.
