Hey, I am new for the Android phones, before my samsung galaxy s2 I had iPhone 4 and things were very simple, now I'm lost in all the terminology and don't know what should I look for in Roms and tweaks. Can some one guide me to some noob Faq tread which will explain the differences in roms andhow can I determine what's best suited for me?
I found the root faq and understood how to install roms, but I can't choose one
Tnx for the help
still need help

Rom Kernel Modem list

If after reading you cannot work out what YOU want then stay with stock until a basic understanding is acquired .
Most users start with the question i want xxx and find a rom to suit rather than ???????????

Okay, I got my SGS2 a few days ago and have done CF root, but I am a little confused in regards to the different kernals.
Mine has the KE2 but what would happen if I used a different one like KF1?
Would just like to clear that up as I would like to try and flash a different rom and there doesn't seem to be that many that work with the KE2?
Would it hurt to flash a new rom that was designed for the KF1?
Cheers for any help in advance.
Pete
PS Sorry guys I just posted this in the wrong place. will re-post in the Q&A Section
Just flash the rom your going to use and follow the roms guidelines reffering to kernals..
If its a kf1 rom use kf1 kernal..just so everything is running good.

This is in the Q & A section. I'm sorry if this sounds like I'm being ****, but I was only asking for a suggestion as in "has someone used a rom that they think is good and works well?"
Cant people ask a question anymore without someone jumping down they're throat.
Hi
Currently i have a samsung galaxy s2 and i been looking through the forum for the last few days for a new rom but there is so many to choose from i have no idea what the best ones are ,
I also have a few questions that im not sure about.
I am on android version 2.3.5 do i have to use a certain rom for this?
I am on gingerbreadBukI3 will there have to be a specific type of rom i will have to use that will run with with this?
Oh and im currently using cwm
Thanks in advance
I'm no expert but I have flashed dozens of roms on my s2. 2.3.5 is your version of gingerbread. You can flash any rom that is in the development section for the gti 9100 . But make sure they are for your version of s2 (not at and t or 9100g) I new nothing about flashing these roms until I read all I needed to know in the forums. (PS some developers don't appreciate us noobs asking them questions that are simple to them but difficult to us because most of the answers have already been given in older posts and we should read up first) . Main thing about flashing roms is always read the instructions on the first page of the roms thread before asking questions on the thread. Hope I helped. (Study the gt-i 9100 forums carefully before anything and it will all come to you) happy flashing and you can pm me anytime if you get stuck as I am patient

Oh and cm7 is my favourite rom to use at the moment because its reliable. Cm9 will be excellent when its finished but its still under development

Hi guys, i know im a noob at this - but i have been looking for over a week for a specific stock rom and cant seem to find one anywhere. Its just the base 3.2 Aus/America p7500. The reason for it is im looking to revert it back to stock from a root. All the ROMS and unroots i can find are for the 7510.
Happy for thread to be deleted if someone can point me in right direction.

Press Thanks-Button for 5 Sekond Google search.
Maybe u must flash First 3.1 and then over Kies 3.2 your Version.
This should be in the Q&A section, development is strictly for development dude.

I thanked you for the search. Even though I've no desire for what was being sought, you deserve the thanks.

difference between android development and original development is simple. android development is roms basically with a slap on theme on it and original is well original.
read this thread here for better explanation between the two
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1175660
as regarding unlocking bootloaders you do not have to as it is already unlocked..all you have to do is flash a cf-root kernel from chainfires thread.
here are links to help you better
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
above link is the chainfire thread to root and the bottom link read that first to get a better feel of rooting
