I can remember when i was on 2.2.2 affinity rom i could go 30 hours on one charge when on eclipse 1.3 and liberty i cant go more than 10 hours to me.. it makes no since... is there anything i can do like change the memory?
You may want to observe where your phone's battery is spending its energy however, it could be the known battery reporting issue.
Read some of the posts in the eclipse/liberty rom threads for details about the known issue for some insight.
mattr3121,
I noticed it the first time I charged phone after 2.3.4 update.
It was at 30% I turned off phone as I always do when I charge this
phone mostly been every day(It seemed to eliminate the random
reboots some members were reporting).
Anyway were was I oh yea so when I turn off phone it's at 30%
I plug it in Battery Icon pops up 50%. Do the math so when it
reach's 100% charge it stop's chargeing but it's really only at 80%
charge (others are reporting 20-40% jumps so worst case scenario
could leave you at a half charged battery). Resulting in your poor
battery life.
What I did in the above scenario is when it reached 100% I left
phone plugged in and pulled battery. I waited till battery icon came
back up it was empty with ? inside I put battery in & it proceeded to
charge. That's how I got my 100%. To avoid this never reboot phone
at less then 99%, don't every recharge phone at more then 20%.
This is my work around to prevent a suddenly dead battery.
Keeping all this in mind my battery life is much better on
2.3.4 then froyo or gingerbread 2.3.3.
Hope This Helps

On Eclipse 1.3
9 1/2 hours on battery (light usage, but played some games and installed a new home app which included playing around with different themes and etc.)
The phone is at 59% so it isn't too bad.
Try wiping battery status and then full charge and see.

FYI.
this is called a "bump charge" and yes it is very useful
ashclepdia ,
Wait a minute ashclepdia you mean I didn't have to do all that typing (One Finger typer here). I could have just said bump charge? Thanks for the info and Thanks for covering my back again buddy.
If this was helpful, be sure to press the thanks button!
How can I complete a "bump charge" with bootstrap recovery installed? When I pulled the battery after charging and still plugged in, it brought me up in recovery. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

go into system recovery app(or eclipse parts if running eclipse)
and press charge mode button first before starting the bump charge.
just be sure to reinstall recovery and press recovery mode again after u r done to be sure u can get back into system recovery later if needed...

yeah u could have ...but if u just said np charge u would have gotten a bunch of "I searched but couldn't find what that is or how to do it " posts so u wpulda had to explain anyways Hahaha.
a "true" bump charge should be done from a battery that is down to around 5-15% ...
and what u do is start with battery out so u see question mark battery. then insert battery let charge to 100% without break. then pull battery. wait for"?" again. reinsert and it should show 5% for a while or something less than 100%. after about ½hr it will jump up to 100%...take off charger and reboot.

Ok, I'm new on the X2 forum but I've been looking at some threads.
There's one to apply a fix, is that not working?

The fix is so when you reboot it does not jump around with what the battery is reporting as a charge. It works I can reboot over and over and the battery doesnt jump around.
I am going to try the bump charge and see if that help get a full charge and correct stats.
I'm not bothered by the battery problem. I have it hooked to the wall when ever I can. So I don't really see it. But I'm glad he fixed either way!

yesterday after flashing nero 5 i wanted to recondition, so while sleeping at night i charged my phone to 100, and now during the day time im trying to waste the battery, but during that i got caught up on adb and connected my charger, and left it there, now its back at 83% battery, does this mess up the reconditioning process? or do i have charge back to 100, then do it all over?

what you should do is drain it all the way untill you cant turn it on anymore and leave it chargin all night turned off, and when you wake up turn it on and let it charge untill its full again, then boot into recovery and wipe batt statt , and you should be good to go mine last about 20 hours after i did that

me to im near a power source or computer all the time so
What you should do is keep letting it drain until 1% or so. I don't think you need to let it die completely. Charge to 100%. Boot into recovery and clear battery stats with the charger still plugged in. This is the important part. Then drain the battery and charge to full. Then you should be good to go.
question, after draining to about 1%, does the phone have to be off? and can i use the phone just a bit while its charging?

The general consensus is that when you condition you should charge the phone while it's off. I don't know enough about battery chemistry to tell you why. Just do it to be safe
Battery "recondition", actually does not "recondition" the battery, it is a trick just to get more accuarte readings (that's the only reason you reset STATS)
The battery may not charge up to 100% and will never do, just following this procedure. It will just say it is @ 100% when you actually are @ 85 or 87, that's why the sudden "jump" you see.
Best way to try to get better readings is charging the battery till it says 100%, unplug it and plug it again a couple of times until it fully charges and follow the same procedure.
Once yo did this a few times, turn off phone, reboot in CWM (with the phone never unpluged) and clear battery stats. turn off phone and unplug,,,,
You will got at least more accurate readings

Android Police did a piece on plugging and unplugging your phone to get up to 100% (it's called bump charging, see below). They recommended that you NOT do it because it doesn't get you much additional juice and you wear your battery out faster. Normally I just charge my battery up to 100% (no drain), wipe the battery stats, unplug and go until it dies. I use it while it's plugged in and still get a full day easily out of my phone.
http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/1...bump-charging-and-inconsistent-battery-drain/
I hate to be the bearer of bad news. You can not condition a Lithium-Ion battery. All you are doing is wearing it out prematurely by deep cycling. Every time you do this you destroy your over all battery life a little.
I have posted about this here in several thread, and I am getting a little tired of having to tell people NOT to do this because they don't search for themselves. Do a search on the forums for deep cycle li-ion and see for yourself.
If you want to know the technical reasons why, Google is your friend.
so we just deal with what is perceived as faster battery depletion?
Im asking because As i have posted on another threat I am a complete freak about my battery life.
Basically yes, I have 3 batteries to go around all day, although I us the car charger, if for any reason one day I take the train to the city, I will eat up 2 and a half batteries in a day.......
I had 3 batterys for my hd2 I need to get 2 new batteries for my vibrant. I guess im just tripping because I tried and over clock kernal and it seems like its dying faster while the screen is off

Yea, just chill. It is all in your head. From ROM to ROM, usage pattern to usage pattern, and app version to app version - there are just too many variables to worry about. Just use your phone, charge it when it needs it, and relax.
Your phone's battery is going to get less life as it ages. There is nothing you can do about that. Also, it will likely only get 2-3 years before it needs replacement. If it gets less than 2 years it is because you have been "conditioning" it. which ages it prematurely and also causes how long it lasts between charges to shorten as well.
Li-ion does not have a memory, so conditioning is an inherently false concept. Recalibrating the devices ability to read the battery is a different story, but it should only be done if it really needs it (like it thinks it is at 1% when it is at 20%), and it should never be done more frequently than a minimum of 30 charge cycles or if you charge it once a day when you go to bed no more than once a month. Less frequent is better.
So sorry, you need to find something else to obsess about. Might I suggest getting Team Whiskey to make BlackFroyo the default theme, use the 5 bar signal meter, the larger numbers on the battery, and the hacked camera the used the power button to take pictures. That would save all of us some time.

Nice link - try reading the stuff by the engineers that work with batteries for a living now instead. You do know eHow is just a site where any idiot that thinks they know something can post, right? Are you going to reference wikipedia next?
BTW when you recalibrated your battery and got 6 more hours, did you do anything else that might have explained it? You know like flash a new effing ROM? That might possible change a few things to do with your power usage.

it was a joke
and no, i flashed Nero 4.1, and then used it for a week thinking the phone would adjust to the battery and new rom, it didn't.
then i thought i'd just take a chance and recondition my battery, it was my first time, and it worked out great.
and trust me i'm a heavy user.
roughly 300-400 texts per day.
20-40 phone calls
music about 5 hours per day
and i play soem games, but thats understandable because playing dungeon defenders uses like 30% battery per hour bcz of the high graphics and such.
a bunch of app downloading.
I flashed to the newest release of the Cyanogenmod beta two nights ago and my phone won't charge the battery to a full 100%... I've seen other people post this problem as well. Theirs may stay at like 60%, I saw one person post it won't charge past 19%, etc.
I don't want to flash the ROM again right now, so does anyone know any other fixes?
did you flash cm7 with a full battery? try letting the battery drain to the point that it wont turn on before charging. did you try deleting batterystats in recovery?

That was me who had the 60% battery problem. Here's how I fixed it.
1. Take the battery out of your phone
2. Plug your AC charger into the phone and wait until it gives you the missing battery icon.
3. Plug in your battery
4. Charge for 6 hours
5. Check on it again (it will probably still say 75% for you)
6. Reboot into recovery and wipe battery stats.
7. Viola you have a fully charged battery now.

Download BatteryCalibration from the android market and follow these steps:
1. Load the App.
2. Plug your phone on charge
3. Wait till your battery gets to its max whether it be 70% or wherever it stops.
4. Uncheck the option "calibrate when reaches 100%"
5. Click on Calibrate.
6. Click on Calibrate again (just for good measure) and if it says something like your phone is not supported or battery.dat is missing, then it means you did a good job.
7. Unplug your phone.
8 Drain your battery till 0% literally. (Switch wifi, gps, H+ on while playing Shadowgun....worked for me).
9. When your battery is dead, charge it again and it should reach 100%.
Did you wipe battery stats after the charge?

you can try jug6ernaut's battery fix it might not work since its not a jumping issue but it's the same in that it is not reporting the correct battery amount left

About to give this a shot myself. My phone stayed stuck ~82%... couldn't figure out what the hell I messed up on it!
I think as a reminder/heads up, there should be a note on the different ROM threads OP's to tell people they should recalibrate their batteries after flashing a ROM... I had no idea.
Cheers!

This will definitely fix the problem, but only temporarily. Next time it drains down and I try to charge it up again, it stops at 80-85%. But when you look at the battery stats, it shows 4200.
I've tried wiping the battery stats, applying the Juggernaut fix, following the steps in the ultimate batttery guide -- still have the problem. I even switched back from CM7 to stock ROM and can't seem to shake this issue.
Just totally kill it and then recharge it fully.
Thats what I do whenever I get this problem.

I am having the same problem since updating to gingerbread. Will try deleting files above. First time I´ve seen that advice.
Just an update. Temporary fix for me only. Phone still charges only to 60% after a recharge.tried everything so far with no results.
I switched from the ics mod cm7 to nuetrino and also drained it fully. It now charges to around 93ish%, but my phone normally charges to only about 95-97% even when it was on stock.

this method works to set your current level to 100% or 99%. just did it with 67% remaining and rebooted to see 99% battery. tried wiping batt stats and plugging in without booting but it still saw the batt as full.
luckily i was just experimenting so i had backed up all three of those files and restored them and was back to 67% after reboot. so i'm charging it to the max my phone sees now (87%) and then deleting the files to set that as the new 100%.

I also just deleted the files, i had a full charge (showing 93% (and thats been the highest in weeks!)), i will post back my findings as well
~~~EDIT~~~
4 hours later, full brightness and no screen timout, i am down to 1%.... just waiting for the phone to turn off. i want to post my results so you guys can see when you come on next... the longest part now is going to be the full 100% charge, which i have not had in weeks.... fingers crossed!
~~~EDIT 2~~~
Well I have been stuck at 93% for the last 30 minutes or so. looks like if you let the phone go dead or power down, it reverts back, or there is something else causing. this issue
It seems to me deleting those files results the same as removing the battery while charging and placing in back.both tips gets you back to 100% but only temporarily for some of us. After a discharge it will not charge to 100%, just as before. I have no idea what is causing it, but my phone battery is about to die from overcharging. like everyone else, it started after a flash.but for some reason it is permanent for some users. Will be getting a new phone if I cannot solve the problem. If anyone had any insights feel welcome to contribute.
ya... after leaving it charge overnight, mine is only at 94%.... so this is only a temp, VERY ttemp fix.
i was thinking the other day, my dad has an Atrix also, his is BONE stock. i was thinking about switching batteries for a day and see what happens.... what do ya think?

Worth a try, I was going to buy a new battery to see if it solves it. from what I have read it is a problem with motorola battery driver and gingerbread. Let us know how it went. Maybe a new battery somehow resets it back into working.

well.... JUST found out that he had his phone on charge all night and guess what.... STUCK AT 90%!!! He has a BONE STOCK, no rom, no root, no nothing, OUT OF THE BOX, Atrix. So thats a twist in this issue. he said he took his battery out with the phone off and when he put it back in, it was 100%. he just told me that the other day it went to 80% charge.
I finally figures out a real way to calibrate your Ace. I was experimenting with it and after weeks of testing, it really WORKS. I tested it on stock and CM7.2, not sure if it works on CM7.1 but you could try as well.
-INSTRUCTIONS-
1. Turn off your phone and charge it for 8-10 hours straight. Which means don't interfere with the charging process. Let it charge continuously.
2. After charging, unplug your charger and turn off your phone. Let it drain from 100% to 99%-95% ITSELF. Which means don't use it.
3. Then charge your phone again back to 100%, leaving the phone on.
4. Unplug your charger and reboot into recovery.
5. Wipe battery stats!
6. Power off! Don't boot your phone!
7. Now you have a bricked phone, congratulations! JUST JOKING. Charge it again for 1 hour ( power off)
8. After that, unplug charger and turn on your phone. Voila! All done!
I hope this tutorial helps you!
Cheers!

i think this post just makes simple things harder. zeppelinrox has had shared his own calibrating script called die-hard battery calibrator. it works flawlessly on ace. google it.

Funny, charge for 8 hour then turn off and let it drain to 95%? How to know if the phone was off? Lol
I just charge my phone when sleep then after wakeup just go to recovery to wipe battery, reboot...charge to full..enjoy

You there! Android hacker! Stop screwing around with your battery stats!
OK, if you're not part of the small subset of rooted users who likes to mess around with things they shouldn't, you can probably skip the rest of this story and read something more interesting below. But if you have fiddled with battery stats on your phone, or used any of the rooted "battery calibration" apps in the Android Market, which do the same thing, it's time to stop. Google engineer Diane Hackborn has taken to Google+ to dispel the myth that wiping battery stats can improve your battery life, or the efficiency with which your phone charges.
This file [batterystats.bin] is used to maintain, across reboots, low-level data about the kinds of operations the device and your apps are doing between battery changes. That is, it is solely used to compute the blame for battery usage shown in the "Battery Use" UI in settings. That is, it has deeply significant things like "app X held a wake lock for 2 minutes" and "the screen was on at 60% brightness for 10 minutes."
It has no impact on the current battery level shown to you. It has no impact on your battery life.
So there you have it. If you want better battery life, you're better off trying more basic techniques like keeping tabs on screen brightness or anything that might be running in the background. Or, y'know, buy a bigger battery.

battery stats have nothing to do with the phones charge :/
Charge to 100% with phone off
Then turn phone off with charger plugged in when it says 100%
Turn phone back on with charger in and wait until it says charged done
Wiping battery stats will not extend or do anything to the battery life
Yes..Got to say,this is foolishnes mate..No offense

Do you mean phone ON in your second line here?
I am completely stock on ROM and Kernal, and since the latest update I haven't been able to see a percentage of over 90% when charging my phone. Life is fine and has been unaffected, but it's driving me crazy. I'm not rooted at this time, and downloaded this calibration app. My concern is that it says to charge to full then calibrate, which the phone "can't" do based on what is being displayed.
Thanks in advance for the assistance.

Thank you for the reply. I'm familiar with that guide, but as I'm not rooted, and right now I'd rather not go through the effort (as little as it might be), I was just curious if this was a known issue or if there was a less time-consuming way to fix this.
I get this when changing roms and don't have 100% charge. Charge your phone with the wall charger. Keep it plugged in and pull the battery. Wait til you see a battery with a question mark. Then pop the battery back in, it usually says 5% charge. Let it sit plugged in for a few minutes with the phone off and when you power back on it should read correctly.

Hope I'm wrong, but I suspect that this is just a temporary fix. Phone reboots or pulling the battery whenever the battery is showing "full at 90%" will show 100% afterwards - it's the well known battery jumping issue that we've seen with Gingerbread. And sorry to say, it's still an issue after the recent 2.3.6 update. This really aggravates me also, but w/o rooting I guess we have to live with it.
Please post back if your issue is still solved after one or two overnight charge cycles with no reboot. Thanks.

@IrateCustomer
It's been a week or so since you indicated that you were once again seeing your Atrix charge to 100%. Was this a one-time occurence after the battery pull, or are you continuing to see 100% charge levels without the battery pull or power cycling the phone?
I still have this issue on Android 4.0.3 from time to time!
