Hey guys.. after like 2 months i still havent figured out what to do after following thousands of guides..
I've tried rooting my hero but it stucks on downloading .boot.img = FAILED (remote:no access) or sth like that.. i have followed every step in like 20+ guides?and i always get the same error no matter what i do.. also the one-click flash rooting fails because from what i've been told i have an updated kernel (or how its called) version and it is fixed :/
any info u might want i am open to tell you (like my kernel version etc) i just dont know what u need to "solve" my problem ;d just ask!
i just want to root it so i can have apps on my sd, bluetooth and nothing else

so i somehow managed to downgrade my hero, flash it through recovery and i can access the new menu from home + power button but it still says am not rooted... any ideas?:/
You have achieved major hurdles.
To get root you have to flash rooted rom like Mocado's. I have v2.8 which I think has everything I wanted. You can have your own choice>>>

if i flash a rom do i loose my messages/contacts if i DONT backup?also can i partition my SD without rooting? and i have already tried Amon Ra with better terminal emulator but it fails ;d btw if possible try pm me

after all the good progress i've had..
i managed to root it, partition my SD and when i tried to move my apps it, midway, it asked me to restart my device..so i did.. and now all my apps are gone, factory reset has been made, contacts are lost, messages are lost..almost EVERYTHING is lost apart from application shortucts-.- :S i have made a backup but i dont know how to use it (lol-.-) pls reply

You flashed Amons recovery... With it you can format and partition sd card, and flash rom of your choice.
Yes you loose everything when flashing rom. You could have copied your contact on sim or sd, same for applications. You can reinstall but a word of advice,
Do your wipes first, I mean to ensure smooth running of rom. Hope it helps.

how can i do a backup for my contacts and messages? i have the .img files ;/
when i fastboot it says remote: not allow
also htc sync doesnt work now
and when i restore from recovery boot it says nandroid mobile sh failed run via console ;/

Re- restoring contacts, I dont know any easy way but all your sim contacts can be copied. All phone contacts will have been wiped ,that swhat happenes when we install new os.
i thought it was the other way around and i copied everything on my mobile.. lol..
anw doesnt matter ;d just had 40 contacts anw ;d
can i restore messages, application saves and application folders at least? btw my phone aint working on htc sync now ROMS are still on btw
and how can i correctly partition my SD so any application i add it is saved on SD?thx ;d
Just one thing. Refrain from using foul languages as this forum is open to all ages of members and it will also reflect bad on you.
Install something like Astro, open it ,click menu and go from there to back up all your installed apps.

also thats what i mean, all my apps and their saves/settings are on backup.imgs :/ my hero is like a brand new one with modaco installed and nothing else... and htc sync doesnt load it, although i can use mass storage
Back up images are actually of rom itself. Sorry I dont know how to reinstate sms messages. This questiones was asked by a friend about his iPhone and again I couldnt answer as I never owned iPhone.

just wanna know what to do now so i get a partition on my SD.. i have a 2gb card which was partitioned before but i restored it.. i want 2 things
1) howto partition it for automatic saving apps on SD! and not having to move them everytime
2) how to make HTC sync works -.- i think i "broke" it:S i reinstalled it 4 times so far..nothing..
1) Format and partition feature s in your recovery. Format the whole card as fat32 and next make partition but again you will loose everything on card! After that you will need to mount your sd card ( option in recovery) so that you can put copy back everything on it. But why do you want to do it if everything is working?
2) Do you see ADB in system properties? If yes, drivers are installed correctly.
It is worth browsing Dream forums as Dream was first Android phone hence more to read and almost all can be related to Magic and Hero units operational practices except rooting and flashing bits.

atm i am looking for another application to connect to my hero to install other apks :/ currently i have apps2sd on hero although and i was wondering if all i have to do is Copy apps to SD and thats all? (whats dalvik cache that asks me to copy btw?)

edit: i reinstall htc sync and my drivers are gone! cant get them back..my pc doesnt even load APK files! :S
So, i have a huge problem. My tab's internal storage is being used by something unknown to me.
After looking around on the forums and the allmighty internet, I found the app called "DiskUsage" to help me narrow down the search for the mystical black hole in my storage.
What i find is nearly 15gb of space being eaten by "System Data". I attempted to look for files that could be using the space but failed to do so.
I then went on to format the entire tablet in CWM (system/sd-card etc) and again opened the DiskUsage app to see if anything changed. Links to the pictures are in the attatchment.
Does anyone have any idea on how I find and get rid of whats clugging my system?

Flash a stock rom with odin and perform a wipe from the stock recovery. You may have to use a pit file also.

I have eaten space too like you, i looked that when i installed CM 10 unofficial version it seems that doesnt erase at all when i did a wipe factory reset probablly you have the apps that you had In the last room, i dont know how to fix it..

In the future, check if you have a folder on sdcard labeled: LOST.DIR. I am not sure exactly what it is for, but I had one taking up almost 6gb on my phone a few months back, and after doing some research discovered that it basically contains "lost" files and is completely safe to delete. I backed it up to my computer just in case. On my Tab, I have the same folder, but it was only a few kb in size, so I haven't messed with it.

I just installed the stock deodexed XXLS8 Thebyani rom and now I can't download anything. Even when I receive a file on whatsapp I am unable to download it. The browser says there isnt enough memory but I have over 1gb free in both the internal sd and the 2gb partition.
I tried installing other roms, restoring to a back up i created just before installing this new rom, but it still does not fix it.
Any ideas on what to do?

Ok sorry for wasting your time. I've managed to solve the problem. I connected my phone to the PC and it said theres an error with the usb device and i clicked fix. After 5 mins it said its fixed. I disconnected my phone and its now fixed as i can download files and receive them through whatsapp

I have rooted galaxy s2, JB 4.1.2 and kernel siyah v6.0b5.But suddently my usb storage,sdcard0 and micro SD Card became protected.
I can't move or delete files. (error access denied) Can't download anymore from google play, and applications can't save on sdcard0 anymore.
But my phone is rooted and i can use all applications that i have installed.
Also when i connect phone with pc, and if i want to delete any folder, i get a warning 'the storage is write protected' (sdcard0). But phone is rooted.

Get correct stock firmware for your region from sammobile.com and flash through odin and see what happens.

Before installing im also deleted all permissions from system recovery (apollo kernel).
And then downloaded and installed from sammobile my stock firmware, but no luck.
Is there any other option, because I want my phone back?

OP have you find it?
You both need to flash stock firmware in download mode with Odin as many times as you need to until your phone works normally again. If you have problems with Odin or flashes appear successful but the phone still won't boot normally, search for Hopper8's 'Odin troubleshooting' thread & try the stuff in that thread. Specifically, If you're in a situation where flashes appear to be successful but the phone still bootloops, flash the 3 part firmware linked to in his thread (only if you defnitely have an I9100 though; if you have another variant, don't).

I finally found a solution:laugh:
ROOT BROWSER
I somehow copied root browser from pc to sd card, and then deleted most of folders on sdcard0. And suddenly all permissions disappear.
ah and Root Browser need permission from superuser before deleting something.

can you explain that in details? I can't seem to erase anything in my internal usb storage. says it's write protected. thanks in advance
So, I just installed the Nameless KitKat rom on my GT-7510 and I'm having a weird issue. It says I only have 1.7gb free, but I can't find any of the files that are taking up the space. I've scanned through the folders, on both the tablet and on my computer, and I can't find anything.
Where did they go? How can I get my space back??
I don't care about losing any data, I just want a clean wipe.
